Gold Derby editors Tom O'Neil and Daniel Montgomery discuss the nominations for the 87th Academy Awards moments after that Oscars nominations were unveiled on Jan. 15, 2015.

    The good stuff is @11:40

    - A press junket was originally planned for tomorrow after Aniston's Oscar nom.
    - A bunch of reporters were invited, etc.
    - Junkets are usually for movies and such but not for a single star.
    - Jennifer Aniston is basically Judy Garland 2.0

There were a lot of obvious Oscar nominations this year including 'Selma,''The Theory of Everything' and 'Boyhood' which all got noms in the Best Picture category. One of the more surprising noms was 'American Sniper' which walked away with 6, including a Best Actor nom for Bradley Cooper, making this his 3rd consecutive nomination. But perhaps the most shocking snub of all was 'Gone Girl' which was only recognized for Best Actress, Rosamund Pike.

Pop megastar Britney Spears has inspired a new bill in the New Jersey statehouse. One of the key motivators to draw up this bill was Spears' recent success in Las Vegas with her residency, Senator Tom Kean Jr stated that it “has generated at least $20 million for a formerly struggling business there, while helping with jobs, overall tourism and state revenues.”

The legislation would allow A-list entertainers who play at least four dates in Atlantic City to pay no state income taxes on earnings from any NJ venue during the calendar year.
"This legislation will help make Atlantic City a consistent worldwide draw for people to see the top performers, artists, celebrities and athletes," Kean went on to add.

Legendary songwriter and producer Kim Fowley, who worked with the likes of Alice Cooper, Warren Zevon, Cat Stevens and KISS, has died from bladder cancer at 75. In addition to discovering and managing an unknown L.A. group called the Runaways featuring a fifteen-year old Joan Jett, he was part of the one-off studio band The Hollywood Argyles, who had their one big hit in 1960 with "Alley-Oop," in which he sang the vocals while completely plastered. Fowley also produced hits for Paul Revere & The Raiders and The Murmaids, and wrote the instrumental "Nut Rocker" that was a hit for B. Bumble and the Stingers.

Also on Thursday, Rich Robinson announced that the Black Crowes were officially splitting up after 24 years, citing issues between himself and his brother, who is, of course, lead singer Chris Robinson. Rich, the band's founder, said in a statement, "I love my brother and respect his talent but his present demand that I must give up my equal share of the band and that our drummer for 28 years and original partner, Steve Gorman, relinquish 100 percent of his share, reducing him to a salaried employee, is not something I could agree to."

Rita Ora proves that she will never let us down. Along with #iconic seven-time Acadamy Award-nominated songwriter Diane Warren, the rising movie star and singer was recently nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song. The song 'Grateful' from the Gugu Mbatha-Raw-led 'Beyond the Lights' was recognized for Rita Ora's powerhouse vocals and soulful style. Rita congratulated the songwriter on Instagram and captioned the photo (see above): "The oscars. Wow thank you for this nomination @diane_warren and I have had the best time recording this 🙏🙏🙏🙏"

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the songwriter also has great words and praises for Rita. She thinks that the song needs to be a single, and was on par with her #iconic songs such as 'Because You Love Me' and 'How Do I Live': “I was like, are you kidding me? She’s never sung this good, it’s a total hit song, it’s a mass appeal hit record, what the fuck. I hope they’re waking up today, saying, oh, maybe we should put this out as a single. Maybe when she sings for 3 billion people on the stage at the Oscars . . .”

Rihanna hew? Lana hew? Lorde hew? Rita Ora is Oscar-worthy and y'all will deal! Hoping for her win because I wanna see Rita go legit tbh! Also, support the movie by buying the soundtrack on iTunes!

England's ITV is set to launch a CGI version of the futuristic 60s series "Thunderbirds" this spring, and the reimagined Tracy brothers look like a boy band.

ITV have promised that the new show will deliver "a new level of action-adventure animation whilst also paying tribute to the classic 1960’s phenomenon." The series will use a mix of CGI animation and live-action model sets.

Rosamund Pike will voice Lady Penelope and original cast member David Graham will reprise his role as Parker (he sounded ancient in the original series. Can't believe he's alive).

-A star of TLC's new show, My Husband's Not Gay (whatever u say girl), had this to say about his sexual orientation, using a brilliant and totally logical donut analogy! The show has already been condemned by GLAAD while a petition to take it off the air has more than 100,000 signatures.

"I love donuts. I would eat doughnuts three times a day. But I desire to be able to fit in my pants in the morning too. So you could say I am oriented towards doughnuts, and if I was being true to myself, I would eat doughnuts a lot more than I eat doughnuts. But am I miserable? Am I lonely? Am I denying myself because I don't eat doughnuts as much as I might like to eat doughnuts? I'm not. And in fact, I desire to live a healthy lifestyle, and so I don't eat a lot of doughnuts. And I desire to be with a wife, and I'm committed to this, and I want to stay committed to this. So that's what I want."

I think the analogy he is looking for is that he loves eating donuts but for some stupid verse in an old-ass book he's denying himself of ever eating any donuts and is instead settling for raisin cookies

ONTD reports! Music Business World recently ran an article discussing the fact that ADELE MAY NOT RELEASE ANY NEW MUSIC UNTIL 2016! The very earliest she will release is FALL 2015, because she is at the stage where she is only HOPING to release this year, depending on progress! Sources say there is “logically... almost no chance” of releasing ANY TIME SOON!

Adele has the FULL BACKING of her label release the album when it's GOOD AND READY... and not a minute sooner! They hope to replicate the success of "21", and so they're letting Adele TAKE HER TIME and let the music BREATHE.

Various producers have COME AND GONE in their attachments with Adele's albums, bringing to mind BRITNEY SPEAR'S collaborators and even the hype surrounding "What now? (no seriously, where are you, bitch?)" singer RIHANNA.

Will ADELE release in 2015? Does 21+4=25 mean that 2011+4 years = release now? Will the fact that Adele is now TWENTY SIX and thus DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO AGING OUT OF THE POP-SPHERE make an impact on her sales?????

Find out all of this and more at the SOURCE: http://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/adeles-new-album-wont-first-half-year-say-sources/
