In a move that suggests a lot of confidence in the whaling film, In the Heart of the Sea has been delayed until December of 2015. The movie was originally going to come out March of 2015 and has been finished with filming since December of 2013. It's been getting positive reactions from early screenings.

Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, Benjamin Walker, Tom Holland, Ben Whishaw, and Brendan Gleeson all star in this film about the true events of a whaling ship's tragic final voyage (involving dick measuring contests, racism, and cannibalism) which inspired Moby Dick.

Sideshow Act Velvet Crayon on Performance Art and ‘American Horror Story’ (VIEWING POST)

$

While watching this season of American Horror Story, we may have all noticed something that immediately caught our attention. A single word that made up perk, and see if it was causing discomfort to anyone else. Freaks. We know is as a word that is extremely derogatory, that is used by callous and insensitive individuals in order to project their own insecurities and degrade those who are not formed in a way that is "normal."

In recent times though, the word has been taken back by those who sway away from the norm. It can be extrapolated and seen as a group of people who don't want a negative connotation attached to the word, to an extent. The extension being it is only positive when used among those within the group. The way gay people took back the word "queer," the way black people took back the word "nigga(h)," and the way women took back the word "bitch" and turned it into something positive. These are only a few of the words of only a couple stigmatized and ostracized groups have taken back, and there are sure to be plenty more in the coming years of words, which once had a negative undertone, and has been converted into something of celebratory praise.

To swing around back to the word freaks, it has gone through the same transformation as the words listed above. Here we have a writer, Kim Kelly, born with ectrodactyly, "a rare congenital disorder that affected the growth of my hands; to paint a mental picture, a century ago, ectro was known as 'lobster claw syndrome.'" Kim is interviewing Erik, a self-proclaimed "freak," who "born with osteogenesis imperfecta." He goes on stage, jams out wearing a koala mask, playing a psychedelic indie rock noise mixture of music, solely fronted by himself. He calls the persona, Velvet Crayon.

In the interview, Kim asks Erik about American Horror Story: Freakshow. Noting that a lot of interest was stirred by the sideshow culture, Erik gives his impression on the show:

I am actually friends with Mat Fraser, aka Paul the Illustrated Seal! Personally, I think the show will give a lot of publicity to what we’re doing, and it is probably good for all of us in this scene.

Although the show has a dated timeline (ignoring the fact that the music is not from its time), it does allow for people to see an insight of a culture. Albeit, it's a subculture, that does not represent all "freaks." It must also be taken into consideration that this is only a fictionalized representation, and nothing from the show should be taken as pure fact.

The limitations one faces when they don't belong to a set norm does not mean one can't be as successful as someone who is "normal," far from it. Kim is a writer, Erik is a musician, and there are countless other stories out there where people don't let what others deem as a limitation to stop them from succeeding and achieving their dreams.

So this is basically an excuse for a viewing post. If anyone is interested in knowing more about Velvet Crayon, be sure to visit his website, here. The rest of the article is in the tweet. It's an insightful read.

Katy Perry DID NOT PAY to be in the Super Bowl.
Katy said of being asked to pay: "I put my foot down very early in the courtship. I said, 'Look guys, here's where I draw a line in the sand, I want to be invited on my own merits and not with some fine print. I stuck to my position ... I don't even care if my contract leaks. ... I have nothing to hide, basically."

On past Super Bowl's Shocking Moments (Janet's Wardrobe Malfunction & M.I.A.'s Middle Finger)
"Everything I've done in my career hasn't been blatant this or that. It's always with a wink. It's a soft-serve sexiness. My intention is that everyone talks about the music and nothing else. ... Sometimes you can't control other people. But I will control myself."

In an interview with Alex Garland, the screenwriter of 28 Days Later said the following about a possible third film in the series:

"We've just started talking about it seriously...We've got an idea. Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It's complicated. There's a whole bunch of reasons why it's complicated, which are boring so I won't go into, but there's a possibility."

-The good sis Naomi is starting a multi-episode arc on Fox's hip-hop drama, Empire.
-She had a few kind words to say about the LGBT community: "If it wasn't for gay men, I wouldn't exist. Hair, makeup, designer, photographer, stylist, manicure, hairdresser... I owe my life to gay men. It's just what I've grown up with. It's my family."
-She also spoke in support of trans models last year at the GLAAD media awards: "I encourage even more diversity in the fashion world, that includes welcoming trans models to the runways. Much love Lea T and also to Carmen Carrera, and I know Carmen is in the house tonight. She's in the fashion magazines W, Italian Vogue and also just to note the recent Barney's campaign. The truth is LGBT culture and fashion go hand in hand. They flourish in light of making bold and brave statements."
