If there's one single cookie that makes us think of childhood, it's definitely the Oreo. Known as "milk's favorite cookie," these creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookies are considered the best-selling cookie brand of the twenty first century, making $1.5 billion in worldwide revenues. Whether you "twist, lick and dunk" them or just eat them as they are, Oreo cookies have been a part of Americans' lives for 100 years -- and March 6 happens to be Oreo's 100th birthday (Oreo is celebrating with it's new birthday cake flavored version). But did you know Oreos are popular around the world? And they come in some pretty intense international flavors.
Designed to compete with British biscuit cookies, Oreos were introduced in New York on March 6, 1912. By the mid 1990s, Oreos were selling in 30 countries. In China, Oreos have been sold since 1996, eventually becoming the country's best-selling cookie in 2006. You can now find Oreo cookies in more than 100 countries all over the world. And these nations feature flavors that go way beyond just the original-flavored Oreo cookies -- there are even some flavors designed to taste like ice cream.
