After her recent incarceration and health issues, Abby Lee Miller is back for season 8 of Lifetime's Dance Moms. Miller announced on Instagram that filming for season 8 would begin at the end of January.

A short history of Abby Lee Miller's legal and medical woes:
- In 2010, Miller filed for bankruptcy, owing $400,000 in taxes
- Miller starred in Dance Moms for 7 seasons, from 2011-2017
- In 2012, she created secret bank accounts to hide over $750,000 that she earned from masterclasses, TV deals, and merchandise sales
- In 2015 she was indicted with bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy assets and false bankruptcy declarations
- Miller pled guilty, and was sentenced to 1 year plus 1 day in prison, followed by two years of supervised release
- She was also ordered to pay a $40,000 fine and a $120,000 judgment
- Miller reported to prison on 07/12/17, was transferred to a halway house on 03/27/18, and was released on 05/25/18
- Miller lost 100 pounds while incarcerated
- In April 2018, Miller was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma following emergency spinal surgery
- Miller underwent 2 surgeries and 10 rounds of chemotherapy, and had to learn to walk again
Miller had quit the show in March 2018 due to a dispute with the network and the production company (her angry Instagram rant about it was previously posted on ONTD). Dancing with the Stars pro Cheryl Burke filled in for her for the last episodes of season 7. However, Miller teased her return in an Instagram post on 11/06/18.
