Teen Wolf interview: DILF on Stiles' mom, new romance, and more

When Sheriff Stilinski finally found out about the werewolves and supernaturalhappenings in Beacon Hills, the audience let out a sigh of relief. While it's great to have Papa Stilinski in on the secret, life is only looking to get more complicated for him now.

BuddyTV was lucky enough to sit down to chat with Teen Wolf star Linden Ashby about playing the Sheriff, dealing with a new deputy in season 3B, how he's handling knowing the secret, and just when we might see some romance between Stilinski and Mama McCall.

Check out the full interview below:

Highlights From the Interview:

  • Is Sheriff Stilinski an alcoholic? "I think he fell in the bottle and he climbed out of the bottle fairly quickly. It was never a real problem," Linden Ashby says.

  • He's ecstatic with how his character has developed and he gives props to creator Jeff Davis and the writers.

  • "Now that he knows about the supernatural elements I think it opens up a whole new chapter in Stilinski's evolution."

  • As a police officer he'll have to rethink cases he couldn't solve before and now look at them with new information. If he had known before what he knows now, would he have done things differently?

  • What Ashby loves about the show is that people can make mistakes and muddle through as best they can.

  • Will the Sheriff get some action from Mama McCall? "I think there's a lovely chemistry there," says Ashby diplomatically.

  • Jeff Davis mentioned there will be a new deputy joining the force in season 3B. What will his  relationship with the Sheriff look like? "You're mentoring a young guy in your profession. He doesn't know what I know and I can't fill him in on what I know, but I can help him along."

  • Now that Sheriff Stilinski knows the secret he's on the inside looking out, but Scott's dad doesn't know the secret.

  • We'll learn more about Stiles' mom, including how she died.

  • Any behind the scenes dirt? The first year Tyler Posey, Dylan O'Brien, and Tyler Hoechlin all lived together. Tyler Hoechlin became like the den mother and the next year he moved out. Big laughs at the table from that story. (pack mom stiles derek tbh)
  •
  • Ashby says the cast has all grown up while on the show. "There's a lot of laughing and a lot of inappropriate crap."

  • "It's never good if you have an interest in a woman to have her ex-husband show up in town again," Ashby says of Scott's dad being back in the picture. Drama!

  • The relationship between Sheriff Stilinski and Scott is going to change in the coming season. "I think it actually makes my relationship with Scott better, because now I can't just look at him as that knuckleheaded kid that hangs out with Stiles."

  • He was initially stumped when asked about his favorite scene to shoot because there have been so many good ones. Ashby says there was a "Scooby Doo" moment in one of the episodes and no one could get through the scene without laughing.

  • His favorite scene was at the end of season two, where Stiles does great in the lacrosse game and Sheriff Stilinski tells him he's a hero.

  • Are you shipping Sheriff Stilinski and Mama McCall? Are you excited he knows the secret now? Sound off in the comments!

Five (4) reasons James Avery was one of the greatest TV dads

    $
    0
    0

James Avery was a prolific and versatile actor during his 68 years, but he's best known to several as Uncle Phil.

A classically trained thespian, Avery filled the role of the tough but caring head of the Banks' household on the '90s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" for six years. Along the way, he crafted a character that stands apart as one of the greatest fictional dads on TV.

His costar Joseph Marcell, who portrayed the family butler Geoffrey, had it right when he said that Avery "strove to present an Uncle Phil that everybody wishes was their uncle." As a result, his death this week has left a lot of fans feeling as though they've lost a family member.

Every "Fresh Prince" fan probably has his or her own reasons why Uncle Phil was at the heart of the memorable comedy. Here are our top five (actually four):

    1. He was there for you in a jam.
In case you missed "Fresh Prince" during its run from 1990 to 1996, or somehow have escaped the endless repeats on basic cable in the years since, here's a recap of the premise: Now-famous blockbuster actor Will Smith portrayed a mischievous Philadelphia teen who was sent to live with his rich relatives in Bel-Air. Cue the culture clash as free-spirited Will had to adjust to his Uncle Phil's rigorous rules.

Most of the humor came from that dynamic, but when Will -- and, often, Phil's son Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) -- really needed him, he didn't hesitate to help them out. That was established clearly with an episode in season one, when Phil came to Will's rescue at a pool hall after the kid lost money and a car to a hustler.

    2. Underneath his grizzly exterior was a sensitive role model.
Although Uncle Phil and Will had their fights, the lawyer and eventual judge became a father figure for Smith's character.
This was shown in one heartbreaking season four episode, when Will's biological father re-enters the picture only to leave his son once again. A distraught Will turned to his uncle, who readily embraced him. No matter how many times we watch this, we always get misty.

    3. He was not a man to be trifled with.
Every so often we saw glimpses of Uncle Phil's soft side, but it was his stern parenting style that always left us in stitches. Take, for example, the way he handled one of Carlton and Will's failed schemes in season two:

Or how he completely shut down this guy's attempt to smoke in an elevator ... and then took his phone:

And how could we forget his confrontation at a police station in season one?

    4. He had a go-to move for kicking people out of his house.
Whenever you saw Will Smith's real-life friend and recording partner DJ Jazzy Jeff on-screen in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," you knew he wasn't going to be around for long. The running gag on the sitcom was that Jazzy Jeff's character, Jazz, was always getting thrown out of Uncle Phil's mansion. It happened so often it became a patented move.

Enrique Iglesias has given a thorough description of his manhood - and it turns out the 'Hero' singer isn't altogether satisfied with his assets.

The hitmaker, who reportedly split with Anna Kournikova in October after 12 years together, told the New York Post that there's not a great deal to get excited about downstairs, even describing the general area as his "worst defect".

The confessions began when he admitted: "I go skinny-dipping if there are no paparazzi around.

"I'm not going to tell you [where] because it will ruin my career. There's not a lot to show off."

When he was later asked to reveal what his best and worst features are, he modestly claimed: "My worst defect is from my waist down.

"I'm sorry, no, that's not my worst defect... but it is a little curved." Good to know, Enrique. Good to know.

The star is due to launch his new studio album in 2014, and has recently shot a music video alongside Pitbull for the song 'I'm A Freak'.

"Video shoot time @enrique305 #freak lets get it," tweeted the 'Timber' star, while Enrique responded enthusiastically: "let's do this!!!"

Why Angel Haze's album leak is good for artists

    $
    0
    0

A few weeks before Christmas, rising-star rapper Angel Haze was getting restless about the release of her debut album, Dirty Gold, out today. So restless, in fact, that the emcee's handlers were checking her SoundCloud profile every morning to make sure Haze wasn't giving fans an unauthorized sneak peak. "If I didn't have Angel on lockdown, she'd just put [the album] up there," manager Nicola Carson told Billboard. "She wants people to hear it now. She's so caught up in the moment and the creative space. She doesn't get caught up in the politics."

How prophetic. In a lengthy series of tweets on December 18, a fed-up Haze announced she was doing exactly what Carson feared: leaking her entire album on SoundCloud. "So sorry to Island/Republic Records, but fuck you,” the 22-year-old wrote. Haze said she had been promised a 2013 release if she finished the album by summer's end, so when the record, originally due in January, was pushed back to March, Haze decided she was tired of waiting. Within a few hours of the leak, Haze's label took Dirty Gold off SoundCloud but capitulated to Haze’s demands, announcing a December 30 release date.

Haze is just the latest in a line of artists to take charge of release dates and skip the often-interminable promotional campaigns. In August, M.I.A. also went on Twitter and threatened (with success) to leak her fourth album if her label wouldn’t hurry up and put it out. Earlier this month, Beyoncé, without any warning, dropped a self-title record on iTunes that became one of the year's biggest-selling albums. In doing so, she joined the ranks of other big names like Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and Lil Wayne, who’ve ambushed the world with surprise albums in recent years.

But Haze’s move differs in a crucial way. Her ability to get Dirty Gold released ahead of schedule suggests younger, relatively unproven performers wield more power and demand than labels might think—and her success could be particularly beneficial to other new artists who've been told, like her, to wait over and over again.

M.I.A. hangs with Madonna and crashes the Super Bowl half-time show. Beyoncé makes headlines whenever she gets a haircut. Haze’s accomplishments pale in comparison, though her brutal rhymes, rapid-fire delivery, and unbridled ambition certainly make her a prodigious talent. So far, she’s put out just handful of EPs, mixtapes, and freestyle covers. While acclaimed, these aren’t the milestones that suggested she could elbow her way into the driver’s seat of her career. So if Angel Haze can force her label to do it her way, what’s stopping her peers from doing the same?

Sometimes, release-date purgatory is the artist's fault: Despite the promise of her bouncy, trash-talking breakout "212," Azealia Banks seems to have spent the past two years by mostly picking fights. More often, though, label politics appear to be responsible for delays, and it seems to be an especially common occurrence for other women working in R&B and hip-hop. Iggy Azeala, another rapper who's often lumped together with Haze and Banks, vented to an Australian news site that “the marketing team gets to control me” after her debut was pushed back to 2014. Even more experienced artists aren't immune: In the year-long run-up to Ciara's self-titled fifth album, she released three different singles—two of which got music video treatments—until another, the bedroom slow-jam "Body Party," finally stuck and the album went ahead without the other tracks. And rap's reigning queen Nicki Minaj didn't get a release date for her debut album until after the underperforming “Massive Attack” was scrapped in favor of "Your Love," a surprise radio hit she never wanted to release.

When she leaked the album, Haze implied there could be serious consequences, such as having the project abandoned, and it's not hard to imagine things going the other way for her.But the take-away from Dirty Gold’s unconventional release isn't that labels need to hurry up and put out some albums out before artists leak them first. It’s that musicians, even those making their debuts, can still call the shots. And If Angel Haze succeeds on her own terms, other labels might dispense with waiting for the right single or the critical mass of publicity and let artists do the same.

op: i love the album. every song is on repeat tbh.

LeAnn Rimes trademarks nasty nickname that Brandi Glanville gave her.

Way back in December of 2012, actor Eddie Cibrian released to the media, a private email conversation between himself and his ex-wife/mother of his two boys, model and reality TV star Brandi Glanville. In the aforementioned exchange, Brandi refers jokingly to Eddie's mistress turned current wife, country singer LeAnn Rimes, as an "angelfish", because she "sings like an angel and drinks like a fish". Brand accused Leann, stepmother to her two boys, of being "addicted to laxatives and adderall" and having "mental issues". Not one to be outdone, Leann had one of her die-hard fans make up an "angelfish" t-shirt which she was then photographed wearing throughout the streets of L.A.

So what's that got to do with now? Well, flash forward a year to December 2013, when LeAnn's company "Country Cuban Productions" filed to trademark the term "Angelfish" as a brand:

The brand received it's government stamp on December 6th. Amongst the products "Angelfish" will be producing? Purses and whips. Seriously.

Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl about the status of LeAnn and Eddie's marriage. The two are currently on a New Years ski trip with Eddie and Brandi's young sons, Mason and Jake Cibrian. LeAnn has spent the entire vacation thus far fighting with twitter haters, but hasn't managed to post one photo of the family. Blind items have claimed that Eddie and his boys are spending the vacation in separate quarters from LeAnn, and that Eddie has been living with his parents since early November.

Beyonce (Supposedly) Throws Ultimate Shade at Kelly Rowland in Classic Interview

Beyonce and Kelly Rowland have always been best friends but even besties can get competitive. A classic Destiny’s Child interview recently hit the internet featuring the ‘Drunk in Love’ singer seemingly throwing shade at her group mate.

The clip, posted on Vine, shows each of the girls introducing themselves for the camera. “I’m the second lead vocalist of the group,” Kelly says, at which point Beyonce coughs and rolls her eyes in the singer’s direction. “Beyonce so f—-ing SHADYYYY!!!” the Vine user wrote as the video’s caption.

Destiny’s Child has gone through several group shifts since their start in 1990. In 1999, original members LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett left the group after issues with their manager (and Beyonce’s father) Mathew Knowles. New faces Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams joined Beyonce and Kelly during the ‘Say My Name’ music video. In under a year, Farrah left the group for reportedly missing gigs and not being able to handle the stress.

The remaining DC3 trio went on to top the charts and were, from the outside, seemingly happy. In 2013, they even reunited for the Super Bowl but Kelly proved that all wasn’t perfect in her song ‘Dirty Laundry.’ The track outlined Kelly’s jealousy issues over Beyonce’s success. “When my sister was on stage, killin’ it like a motherf—er/ I was enraged, feelin’ it like a motherf—er/ Bird in a cage, you would never know what I was dealing with/ Went our separate ways, but I was happy she was killin’ it/ Bittersweet, she was up, I was down,” she details on the track.

Jennifer Lawrence & Emma Stone Top The Best Value Hollywood Stars

    $
    0
    0

The lack of gender equality in the film industry was again apparent in Forbes' 2013 Best Actors for the Buck list, with women making up the top 40 per cent of the list.

Emma Stone, Mila Kunis, Jennifer Lawrence and Natalie Portman were found to give the best return to studios on account of what they were paid to star in blockbuster films. Forbes calculated the average amount earned by each star's last three films based on box office data and DVD sales. They then set this aside the research for their Celebrity 100 list, which calculates the salaries of the rich and famous.

Young women top the list because they don't command the seven-figure salaries awarded to their male counterparts and older female stars, despite the fact that some of these actresses have become some of the most reputable in the industry.

Stone, 25, was found to be the best value for money, earning the film studios which hired her $80.70 (£49.17) for every dollar she was paid. Stone appeared as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, which earned $752 million (£458 million) at the box office. Her co-star, Andrew Garfield, who played her love-interest superhero, didn't make the list, despite being paid a relatively slim $500,000 for the film. Forbes speculates that Sony will be paying Stone more for the forthcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Oscar-winning Lawrence was ranked third best value with a return of $68.60 (£41.79) for her performances in blockbuster The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook, which won her the Best Actress Academy Award in 2012. Lawrence was paid $500,000 plus bonuses for The Hunger Games, which took $691 million (£419 million) at the global box office. Like Stone, Lawrence's stock increased considerably - to a reported $10 million - for the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, but was not counted by Forbes for this list.
Bond actor Daniel Craig was in sixth place, returning $25.60 (£15.23) for every dollar paid for his appearances in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2011 and 2012's Skyfall, whose £3.45 billion global box-office takings made it the highest- grossing film of all time in the UK.

Hollywood's Best Actors For The Buck
    1. Emma Stone $80.70
    2. Mila Kunis $68.70
    3. Jennifer Lawrence $68.60

A Houston man nearly lost his life while attempting to sell Jay Z tickets to two prospective buyers.

After posting an ad on Craigslist and interacting with the interested party, the unidentified man agreed to meet two women at a Starbucks in Durham, Texas on December 15, 2013. When he arrived with his girlfriend, the 20-something man received a call, asking him to come outside due to there being an infant child in the car.

While leaning into the passengar-side window to show the women that the tickets were legit, 20 year-old Cessica Darden attempted to grab them and the driver, 20 year-old Denitra Green, hit the gas pedal and tried to effortlessly speed away…

The 20-something Houston man, however, was still partially inside the car, holding on for dear life:

Green kept going, while Darden repeatedly kicked the victim who was still hanging on to the door handle, investigators said.

The man begged them to stop as they sped down Durham. He finally lost his grip and fell. The vehicle ran over him and kept going with Darden’s baby in the back seat.

The victim was hospitalized with several broken bones, crushed fingers and severe road rash on his face and body. He may need plastic surgery and may lose the use of his fingers, according to court documents. [KHOU]

According to reports, local police went to the Jay Z concert in Houston on December 19th and found both women, with 6 other friends, partying it up in their stolen seats.

Both ladies were arrested. Green was held on a $30,000 bond and charged with aggravated robbery. Darden, for some reason, is not in custody.

Brandi Glanville accuses Joyce Giraud of having an eating disorder

This follows up this post. Brandi and Joyce have been feuding since Brandi said that Joyce couldn't swim since she's black.

    From Brandi's Bravo TV Blog:

David Lerner's clothes were super sexy and I thought everyone looked great in them. I am in no way a size zero. Because I have a long torso, things sometimes fit me weird but I'm a Size 4 and very healthy.

It was interesting to me when Joyce said you can never be to thin to rich or to sexy. . .It seem to roll off of her tongue very easily without any prompting. This is almost the same saying as Joyces opening tagline, which she's complained about. Hmm. Interesting. That's just like how adamant she was about not being able to swim -- but now she says she actually can swim just not that well. Lie much?

I think we will start to see some more of the former Miss Puerto Rico's true colors coming out. Joyce saying you never be too thin really bothered me, because in fact you can. Young women have enough problems with eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia, and then to have an ex-beauty queen perpetuate that one can never be to thin is just wrong. I think that Joyce may have a problem. Maybe instead of focussing on what she thinks my issues are, she should take a closer look at herself and her own issues.

As Joyce was going on and on, she said something to me that really stands out. She said she knew why I brought one of my best friends (Etirsa) to Kyle's fitting. I honestly think that remark was the most racist remark ever. I have friends, ex-boyfriends, an ex-husband, and even children from all different ethnic backgrounds. Although I made an insensitive, stereotypical joke, there is nothing racist about me. I also want to add for my entire life I was teased about my name. I was called "vodka" or "gin," asked if my mom was drunk when she named me, and even asked if I was a stripper and that was my stage name. Teased!!! Not bullied -- and you know what I'm a stronger person for it.

Niall Horan is preparing to fly Hungarian model Barbara Palvin to Ireland to meet his parents next month in a sign that their relationship is getting serious.
The One Direction heartthrob plans to whisk his new girlfriend away to Mullinger, Ireland, to meet his mum and dad, Maura and Bobby.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Babs has already met loads of Niall's friends and is really in with his mates.
"But this will be the first time he has taken a girl back home to meet his whole family. It's really exciting, he can't wait for everyone to meet her."
The 20-year-old boyband star, who has previously been romantically linked with singer Ellie Goulding and British reality TV star Louise Thompson, has been spotted with Victoria's Secret beauty Barbara several times over the past few months.
The couple were seen cosying up to one another on a trip to the movies to see 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'.
Barbara also joined the girlfriends of some of the other One Direction stars - including Zayn Malik's fiancee Perrie Edwards - backstage at the finale of 'The X Factor' USA in Los Angeles last month as the band performed on the show.
Niall's bandmates are thought to have met Barbara while in London for the 'Class of '92' documentary film premiere in early December.

A source previously claimed: "The rest of the band were properly introduced to Barbara, though most of them met her briefly before. This time, though, it was as Niall's date."

According to a press release that just pinged into our inbox, Kylie Minogue’s ‘Into The Blue’ single will be released on March 16, with an album to follow “later this year”. The single was written by Kelly Sheehan (who’s worked with Rita Ora and Nicki Minaj) and is described as “a euphoric return to the dance floor”.

The list of people who have worked on the as-yet-untitled album – Kylie’s TWELFTH – includes Pharrell, Greg Kurstin, Metrophonic, Cutfather, MNEK and Ariel Rechtshaid.
Quite good. Here’s a quote from the lady herself about it all:
“2013 was a year of big change, planning and preparation for me and I’m so excited that 2014 is finally here so I can share this new music. ‘Into The Blue’ is really special to me as it encapsulates a lot of what I’ve been feeling – I can’t wait for it to be out there.”
Although she can, evidently, wait until March 16.
