Michelle Visage's Hooker Makeover Is No More!

An Open Letter

June 30, 2013 at 3:35 pm

It has come to our attention that many people have been offended by our web series Hooker Makeover.

World of Wonder and Michelle Visage have long been huge supporters of Sex Workers’ rights, and have been committed to not perpetuating stereotypes or encouraging whorephobia.

The intention of Hooker Makeover was to produce a send-up of traditional makeover shows. Something that was playful and full of heart, not to contribute to negative perceptions of the sex worker industry. However, as an act of solidarity and support to this misaligned industry, we have decided to discontinue the series.

I really enjoyed this when I discovered it, and seeing Morgan every week was just the cherry on top! I'm really sad this ended. The editing was a hot mess but that was part of the show's charm. What are your feelings?

'Dexter' Cast Previews What's to Come in the Final Season

[Warning: This story contains spoilers from the season eight premiere of Showtime's Dexter.]

"Eventually they do find their way back to each other," showrunner Scott Buck tells THR of Dexter and Debra's journey.

"This year is going to be a no-holds-barred year," executive producer Sara Colleton says of the eighth and final season of Dexter. Sunday's return set up a new world for the Showtime serial killer series to explore: Dexter's maker, if you will, has returned to see her creation develop a humanity she never expected. Meanwhile, Deb has spiraled into a life of drugs, alcohol and shady men after leaving Miami Metro for work as a PI.

While Deb continues to push her foster brother away as she continues to grapple with her decision to kill LaGuerta and protect Dex, there's a long way to go if the duo (hopefully!) find their way back to one another.

"I've been pretty vocal about how I'd like Deb to wrap up," Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) tells The Hollywood Reporter. "I think she should be cremated; she should die and I only say that for my own selfish reasons because I feel like it would be really hard to live my life imagining that something was left undone with her. That's the swiftest way to put it to bed."

Here, the cast talks with THR about what's ahead in the final run of the Michael C. Hall starrer.

Can Deb and Dexter both survive the season?
"Anything is possible and that's always been true in the storytelling," Hall says, noting that it's not necessary for one of the Morgans to die in order for the series to have a sense of completion. Adds a hopeful Carpenter: "Considering what they've both survived up to this point, yes. I have every hope that they will!" Showrunner Scott Buck, meanwhile, warns that Dexter and Deb's relationship will become "increasingly complicated" as the season progresses, with some hope at the end of the road. "Eventually they do find their way back to each other."

What can Dexter learn from Dr. Vogel?
Sunday's launch introduced Charlotte Rampling as the woman who helped Harry (James Remar) create the code by which Dexter learned to co-exist with his Dark Passenger. Her reappearance in Dex's life will further illustrate the distinction between Dex and Deb, who until recently was following in her father's footsteps. "Deb isn't a psychopath and has a conscience and is not traumatized in the manner that Dexter was as such a small child, which is what we've been expressing: the roots of Dexter's pathology," Remar tells THR. "That he witnessed his mother's brutal murder and he sat in a pool of her blood with his crazy brother for three days and something snapped. Dexter's equipment, if you will, for feeling and emoting is broken, whereas Debra's is not."

Can Dexter trust Vogel?
After their icy first encounter, Dexter learns that Vogel has been following his Dark Passenger since he was a boy -- making her one of a small group of people in his life who know everything about who he really is. But can she continue to guard his secret? "There's a moment when you do have to trust someone and maybe she is somebody he can trust," Rampling previews, remaining mum on whether Vogel will tell anyone else about Dexter's true self.

Will Masuka finally have his day?
C.S. Lee
has lofty hopes for his pervy alter-ego, noting he'd like to see Vince Masuka's story end with a girlfriend or a wife. "I don't know if we'll see that but who knows," he says with a laugh. "We're going to see some things with Masuka this year that we haven't seen before. It's a very fun and interesting premise that the writers have set up and I hope people enjoy it."

Can Quinn get a win?
Desmond Harrington
's Detective Quinn continues to make his way through the ladies, now romantically linked to his new boss' sister, Jamie (Aimee Garcia) -- but still at Deb's beck and call it seems. "My wish for Quinn is that he ends up a happier man than he came in as," Harrington tells THR of Quinn's journey. Expect to see Angel (David Zayas) push Quinn to man up and Jamie to take issue with her new love interest's old flame.

Where's Hannah?
Yvonne Strahovski
was MIA from the season eight bow but the actress notes it's not a question of where she is but how Hannah comes back. "When does she come back and in what fashion does she re-introduce herself into Dexter's life? She's kind of a psycho, kind of in love with him and a lot of different things. She comes back to stir it up," the Chuck alum previews, keeping mum on which episode will mark her return.

CYCLOPS & PHOENIX to return to X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST?

$

The first trailer unveiled for The Wolverine - which hits cinemas on July 26 - confirmed long-standing rumours that Famke Janssen features in the story as Jean Grey.

As far as we can tell, she appears in dreams and hallucinations haunting Hugh Jackman's metal-clawed mutant.

But will she also be in Fox's next entry in the franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past, along with Cyclops?

Please be advised that there are possible SPOILERS below.

Following reports that said Cyclops actor James Marsden had been spotted on a flight out of Montreal, where Days of Future Past is filming, came news of Josh Helman (pictured above) joining the production in "a secret role." The 27-year-old Aussie actor has facial similarities to Marsden, so the rumour mill has cranked up to the next gear. Will a younger and older Cyclops somehow appear in the film?

Helman is listed as having a stunt double - and so is Famke Janssen. If true, this suggests that Jean Grey and Helman's character (whether Cyclops or someone else) are probably involved in action scenes. It would also be the first time we've heard that Jean Grey is in Days of Future Past

Bryan Singer Teases the International Flair of X-Men: Days of Future Past

Director Bryan Singer spoke at the CineEurope conference in Barcelona, Spain today, through a videotaped message, about his superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is currently shooting in Montreal. The filmlmaker teased the worldwide scope of the film, in his statement below.

"It takes place all over the world, including in Russia, China and Japan. So there be will more of an international flair than the other films."

One of the countries he didn't mention was France, which we learned last week is the site of a deadly attack, most likely at the hands of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. There is speculation that this attack serves as the main catalyst for the government to create the Sentinels, which hunt down all mutants.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST RELEASE DATE GETS MOVED TO MAY 2014

X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently filming in Canada The film's original release date was set for July 2014 The release date has been moved up to May 23, 2014 to take advantage of the Memorial Day weekend Although X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently filming in Canada, the studio is already looking ahead to the film's release date. Although the film was originally scheduled to come out on July 18th, 2014, the release date has actually been moved up to May 23rd, 2014.

Here Are All The Easter Eggs In 'Monsters University'

$

Disney and Pixar's big prequel to 2001's "Monsters Inc." came out last weekend.

"Monsters University" had a great opening weekend debuting to $82 million.

While most were excited to see the duo of Mike and Sulley (Billy Crystal and John Goodman) reunited on screen together during their college days, others were probably more excited with the thrills of the hidden gems in any Pixar flick.

Pixar is notorious for hiding a few iconic symbols in each of its films along with a hint at its next movie.

Disney publicly released a few of these little Easter Eggs along with high resolution photos.

Check them out below along with a few others we've compiled from around the Web and with our own eagle eyes.

Did you spot these while seeing the film?

The Pizza Planet Truck

The famous "Toy Story" truck appears in nearly every Pixar film. In "Monsters University" it pops up outside the JOX fraternity house in its driveway.

The Luxo Ball

The ball from Pixar's first computer animated short film "Luxo Jr" in 1986 appears in graffiti on the wall behind two characters, Claire Wheeler and Brock Pearson, while they're introduced during the Scare Games' first challenge.

Little Mikey

In "Monsters Inc," Mike shows Boo his monster doll, little Mikey. You can see him sitting on a shelf in his dorm room and in his bed.

Cirque du Soleil's 'Michael Jackson ONE' Premieres With Jackson Family Members, Celebrity Attendees

$

LAS VEGAS — Once was not enough.

Less than 20 months after the debut of the first Cirque du Soleil show paying tribute Michael Jackson comes the second: "Michael Jackson ONE"

Cirque president Daniel Lamarre said he'd planned two Jackson-inspired shows "from the first day we got the rights from the (Jackson) estate," with the first production, "Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL WORLD TOUR," delivering a stadium-sized concert-type presentation and "ONE," a more intimate affair.

The new show is something closer to what Cirque du Soleil usually serves up. It's a multimedia extravaganza that often flies high, but never loses sight of its inspiration.

Saturday's world premiere attracted celebrities including musician Justin Bieber, as well as actors Neil Patrick Harris, Allison Janney and Alfre Woodard.

Also in attendance were Michael Jackson's brothers Marlon, Tito and Jackie, the latter noting during arrivals that most of the Jackson family would be inside the theater for the premiere except for Michael's daughter, Paris. The teen was taken by ambulance from her family's home June 5 and hospitalized.

"She's going to be OK," Jackie Jackson said. "She's getting better."

The brothers said even less when asked about the progress of the lawsuit against concert promoter AEG Live. The family claims the company hired Conrad Murray, the doctor convicted of involuntary manslaughter for Michael Jackson's 2009 death.

"We can't elaborate on that, because it's still ongoing," replied Marlon Jackson.

Following a dramatic week of courtroom testimony surrounding Michael Jackson's final days, the brothers seemed relieved to be revisiting Michael's life and work.

"ONE" `'is all about the music," said Marlon Jackson. "This is part of giving back and sharing his legacy."

"ONE" also gives Cirque another crack at producing the ultimate Michael Jackson tribute show.

Some heavyweight media outlets gave "IMMORTAL" lukewarm reviews (The Hollywood Reporter, and the Los Angeles Times among them). And even Cirque president Lamarre said the production was being "tweaked" throughout its North American run.

"ONE" director Jamie King commented, "I think the questions with ('IMMORTAL') was, `Was there enough Cirque? Was there enough Michael?' There's where the confusion (was)."

"'ONE' is very different," explained Lamarre. "It's a total immersion. So, people are going to dive into the universe of Michael Jackson."

Despite mixed reviews and initial production problems, "IMMORTAL" was a box-office smash. According to Forbes, it was the highest-grossing tour in the United States in 2011 and the second-highest in 2012. By the time it traveled overseas, Lamarre said, "IMMORTAL" was greatly improved.

"I cannot wait to bring back `IMMORTAL' (to North America) for people to realize how good a show it is now," he added.

Amanda Bynes says people are "reading her mind", calls mom & sister ugly, says Kid Cudi has herpes

There haven't been many Amanda Bynes posts lately so I thought I would let you all know what she's been up to.

She called her mom and sister ugly.

She called Zac Efron ugly.

She called Drake's mom ugly.

She claimed Kid Cudi has herpes.

She thinks people are "illegally reading her mind".

She's also been tweeting about how much she loves Drake, how he's so beautiful and the man of her dreams, and then tweeting about how ugly he is. She will literally go back and forth back and forth in the span of a few hours and then she deletes most of the tweets. If you search "@amandabynes deleted" on twitter you can find out what she's been deleting.

This whole thing has just gotten kind of depressing to be honest.

8 Dictators and the Celebrities Who Befriend Them

$
0
0
Apparently, if the price is right, celebrities will do just about anything, including performing for or willingly befriending brutal dictators without so much as a quick Wikipedia search. Most recently, Jennifer Lopez was criticized for this. Turns out, it's a lot more common than you would think. Here are a few notable celebrity-dictator encounters:

2. Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong Un

One of the most bizarre photos of 2013 was taken of former NBA player Dennis Rodman and North Korea’s recently appointed, baby-faced dictator Kim Jong-Un. Rodman later tweeted, ”I’m calling on the Supreme Leader of North Korea or as I call him ‘Kim,’ to do me a solid and cut Kenneth Bae loose.”

Kenneth Bae, an American citizen and Christian missionary, is currently being detained in North Korea and has been sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in a “special prison” after being found guilty of attempting to overthrow the North Korean government after crossing into the country to distribute food to orphans. Bae is also accused of distributing bibles. (Christianity is currently banned in North Korea.)

According to Human Rights Watch:

Kim Jong-Un’s succession as North Korea’s supreme leader after the death of his father, Kim Jong-Il, has had no positive impact on the country’s dire human rights record. More than 200,000 North Koreans, including children, are imprisoned in camps where many perish from forced labor, inadequate food, and abuse by guards. Arbitrary arrest, lack of due process, and torture are pervasive problems. There is no independent media, functioning civil society, or religious freedom. Government policies have continually subjected North Koreans to food shortages and famine.

Rodman announced plans to return to North Korea in August to secure Bae’s release. And who knows? It might work.

3. Sting and Gulnara Karimova

Turkmenistan’s neighbor, Uzbekistan, isn’t free of human rights abuses, either. That didn’t stop Sting from performing for the eldest daughter of Uzbekistan’s dictator, Islam Karimov, at an event she was hosting called “Art Week Style.uz” in 2009.

The 40-year-old Gulnara Karimova is a Harvard-alum, businesswoman, politician, musician, and fashion and jewelry designer. She serves as Uzbekistan’s diplomat to Spain and the United Nations. In 2011, she was cut out of New York’s prestigious Fashion Week after Human Rights Watch contacted the event’s manager and various sponsors.

[Karimova's] father’s government forces up to two million Uzbek children to leave school for two months each year to pick cotton – a fabric woven throughout Karimova’s designs.

WikiLeaks revealed in 2010 that:

Most Uzbeks see Karimova as a greedy, power-hungry individual who uses her father to crush business people or anyone else who stands in her way… She remains the single most hated person in the country.

The 75-year-old Islam Karimov has been serving as Uzbekistan’s president since 1989. His regime has been accused of many human rights violations and a former British ambassador even accused Karimov of boiling alive his opponents.

Despite Sting’s background as an environmental activist and member of Amnesty International, the musician defended his decision by stating, “I am well aware of the Uzbek president’s appalling reputation in the field of human rights as well as the environment. I made the decision to play there in spite of that.”

4. Various celebrities and Hugo Chavez

Since 2007, Sean Penn had a close friendship with the former Venezuelan dictator, who passed away earlier in March. Penn attended a candlelight vigil for Chavez in Bolivia. In a statement, Penn said, “Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion. I lost a friend I was blessed to have. My thoughts are with the family of President Chavez and the people of Venezuela.”

At one point, Penn had supposedly been considered to be Venezuela’s ambassador to the United States. Other celebrities who have sung Chavez’s praises include Danny Glover, Kevin Spacey, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Michael Moore, and Oliver Stone.

During his reign, Chavez had been accused of several human rights abuses. Sean Penn himself was physically abusive towards ex-wife Madonna and once hit her in the head with a baseball bat in 1987. The following year, Penn broke into Madonna’s house, tied her to a chair, threatened to shave her head, and went on to physically and sexually abuse her for nine hours. (Now we know why these two were friends.)

5. Various celebrities and Ramzan Kadyrov

Hilary Swank came under fire in 2011 when it was revealed that she had attended a birthday celebration for Chechnya’s leader, Ramzan Kadyrov. Afterward, Swank apologized profusely and claimed she had no knowledge of the Chechen dictator’s reputation.

Sarah Wasserman of the Human Rights Foundation countered this by stating that HRF had contacted Swank through her management 10 days before Swank was to attend the party. Wasserman added, “We offered to brief her, but her manager cut us short and responded that Hilary had no plans to attend. Her claim of ignorance is laughable. Worse, the video of her birthday wishes shows her boasting about her knowledge of Chechnya and how she ‘reads’ and ‘does her research.’”

Meanwhile, Van Damme, who received $1 million for his appearance, and Seal, who received $500,000, came under less scrutiny. During the party, Van Damme stood on stage and said, “I love you Mr. Kadyrov.” Neither apologized and neither indicated that they would return the money they received. In fact, Seal defended his decision by tweeting, “By going there, I played MUSIC for the Chechenyan [sic] people. I’m a MUSICIAN and would appreciate if you leave me out of your politics.”

Given Chechnya’s poor economic conditions, however, Seal’s tweet simply doesn’t ring true. The majority of the Chechen people would not have been able to attend the extravagant birthday celebration.

Meanwhile, Kevin Costner, Eva Mendes, and Shakira had been invited to attend, as well. All three declined.

Let’s not forget Mike Tyson, either. The former professional boxer and the Chechen dictator are reportedly good friends.

‘Teen Wolf’ season 3, episode 5 ‘Frayed’ just aired! What’d you think?

$

Teen Wolf season 3, episode 5 just finished airing on the East Coast! Come read a brief recap and discuss “Frayed” with your fellow fans.

Teen Wolf season 3, episode 5 “Frayed” began with a bus ride for cross country practice where we hear Scott making a shocking revelation — Derek is dead!

We jump back in time to Scott confronting Allison about being at the school the other night when they were trying to trap Cora and Boyd. Allison says she can take care of herself, but Scott proves otherwise. They have a close moment, but it passes when Allison is frustrated that Scott beat her.

Scott figures out the Alpha Pack is staying in the same building the Argents are, but when he goes to tell Derek and the others, they already know. And, as Peter says, “The schemers are scheming.” They already have an attack plan in the works.

Allison confronts Lydia about Aidan, but Lydia denies having any involvement with him. The flashback, however, tells a different story.

Back on the bus, they stop because of traffic, and it’s obvious that Boyd is going to do something. Scott gets up to stop him, but we’re sucked into another flashback before we find out what happens.

In the flashback, we see Scott, Derek, and the others fighting the Alpha Pack. Derek falls at the same time Ennis does, and they both land on the stairs below. As far as we can tell, Ennis is dead. But so is Derek.

In the next scene, we see Cora looking at the spot where Derek and Ennis fell. Peter shows up, and there’s a tense moment between the two of them where they say neither one trusts the other. But they are wondering the same thing: Where did the bodies go?

As Scott gets up to stop Boyd from attacking Ethan on the bus, we hear him asking Deaton what he should do and how he should stop Derek and the others. Deaton tells Scott to lead them instead of trying to stop them. Scott persuades Boyd to stop, but they still have another problem on their hands. Why does Ethan keep checking his phone so much?

Thanks to a very persuasive Stiles, and a curious Danny, we find out that Ethan is worried about someone that’s close to him who is sick. That someone is Ennis, and we realize that he isn’t dead. So, does that mean Derek isn’t either?

Morrell enters Deaton’s officen and asks for help. Deaton refuses to save Ennis, but Morrell convinces him that if Ennis dies, the rest of the pack will go after Scott and make him pay. Deaton reluctantly agrees.

On the bus, Stiles is trying his hardest to get Coach to go to the rest stop so he, Allison, and Lydia can figure out why he isn’t healing from his wounds by the Alpha Pack. After Coach’s many refusals, Stiles gets queasy Jerred to puke, and Coach is forced to pull over.

Lydia thinks Scott isn’t healing because he feels so guilty about Derek dying. Lydia and Stiles leave to slow Coach down, while Allison stitches Scott up. After a few touch and go minutes, he wakes up and they walk out of the rest stop…

…Only to find Isaac beating up Ethan. Several people try to stop him, but only Scott has that hold over him now.

Meanwhile, Deaton is finishing up his work on Ennis. Deucalion, however, has other plans, and he kills Ennis and walks away. Kali is not very happy, to say the least.

In the flashback, Derek, Scott, and the others are quickly put in their place. Deucalion wants Derek to kill one of his pack members, but before he can make that decision, Allison shows up and fires arrows at the Alpha Pack.

We catch up to the part of the flashback we saw in the beginning of the episode, and see Derek plunge to his supposed death below. However, the last shot of the show is Derek coming up to M. Blake’s car, bloody and beaten, and then falling over in the parking lot.

YAWN this episode was loosing my attention and the flashback thing was jarring its like I missed an episode or sth. Last 5 minutes or so were somewhat better they should have started in reverse tbh.

Video of every question Ellen Page asks in Inception

$

Inception is a notoriously confusing movie with an astoundingly complex world. To make itself understandable, then, it requires someone that TV Tropes calls The Watson: A character (like Sherlock Holmes’ John Watson*) who is as confused as we are, and who asks all the questions we would ask, so that the movie can explain itself to us. (Hello, Mr. Exposition.)

In Inception that character is of course Ariadne, played by Ellen Page. She’s the audience surrogate who pipes up with questions like “Who or what is Mr. Charles?” and “Whose subconscious are we going into again?” Or, “What?”

At 10PM, the Schuman family of Quincy, Massachusetts believes their haunting began when their dad Jack purchased a 1966 Mustang with a violent past. With tensions running high in the Schuman home, Jack must decide between his beloved car and saving his family.

MLB Investigators to Sit Down With 'Steroid Smoking Gun', A-Rod & Ryan Braun Are Pissing Themselves

Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun's ears should be burning -- baseball investigators are about to sit down with the whistleblower who claims he can prove they purchased performance enhancing drugs from a Miami clinic ... TMZ has learned.

Sources with direct knowledge of Major League Baseball's investigation tell us MLB officials will be meeting with Porter Fischer in Florida this week ... and he's expected to reveal his detailed records from the Biogenesis clinic. Fischer is an ex-employee at Biogenesis and claims to have the goods on more than 100 baseball players -- among them Braun and A-Rod -- who allegedly obtained banned PEDs from the clinic's owner Tony Bosch.

The Yankees just cleared Rodriguez for his first on-field action this season -- a minor league game -- as he continues to rehab from hip surgery. We're told the MLB meeting was brokered by Fischer's attorney, Ray Rafool -- and that MLB will pay Fischer a "consultant" fee in exchange for his cooperation.

Bottom line -- if Fischer has the mother lode he claims ... MLB could soon be handing down major suspensions.
