Shania also talked about writing the album alone. “I was determined to do it alone. Because I had been in a co-writing scenario for all those years, and this was going to be the first time after all that time that I’ve written solely alone, so it’s all about independence, and I needed to learn that about myself, I needed to rediscover that about myself.”

About releasing Poor Me, Shania said, “Even though it has the most sadness to it, as a songwriter, it was creatively very fun to write ‘Poor Me.’”

ONTD Original: 'SHELTER' turns 10! Where are they now?!

So, 10 years ago that little indie film called 'Shelter' was released and it's been called one of the best gay movies ever. It's the endearing story of a closeted surfer and a rich art student who fall in love. Sooooo groundbreaking, i know... Still, the movie had a lot of heart.

Trevor Wright/Zach

Trevor Wright played Zach, he was the leading guy, a conflicted guy living a shitty life with his dumb sister and his nephew. After 'Shelter', Trevor was part of Stacie Orrico's video '(There's Gotta Be) More to Life'.



He also had a minor role in 'The Social Network' as 'U Guy with a Bra'. Now he has a fashion line and quit acting in 2010 after doing a dog's voice in 'Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups'.



Brad Rowe/Shaun

Brad Rowe didn't had a great career either. He was known to gay films viewers way before 'Shelter' when he played Sean Hayes'love interest in 'Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss' back in 1998.



After Shelter, he had a guest role on 'HIMYM' playing Robin's date with a kid, he then did an arc in 'General Hospital' and on the cancelled TNT show 'Perception'. He hasn't had any other acting gig since 2014.

Tina Holmes/Jeanne

Tina Holmes played Zach's dumb sister who'd rather stay with her abusive boyfriend than with her gay brother and son. So, fuck her. Also, the actress hasn't done anything relevant since 2014, besides killing Nate in six Feet Under.


This was a great show btw. You should watch it.

Jackson Wurth/Cody

He died... or maybe he just quit acting, but he did nothing after 'Shelter'. idk.

The maker of this year's best album, Lana Del Rey serves you Old Hollywood glamour for Complex. She also gave a rare atmospheric video interview!










Lana had some very LDR of stipulations for the video interview: "Lions and tigers and sailers oh my! I told complex I'd only do an on camera interview If it was in a dark bar filled w sailers shot on a hand held camera. They obliged, so here it is. I'm awkward as fuck in it."



-She talks about how the previous records were more about looking inward and now that she has completed that path she felt it was right to talk a bit more general about the world and America. Her relationships and personal stuff are still "peppered" throughout the album of course.
-When Obama was in office she felt that she didn't have much to say and that there was an overall feeling of hope.
-When asked if her anti-Trump stance will disappoint some mid Western fans Lana responds: "I think that you don't negotiate when it comes to your work or your art, you stand totally firm and take the consequences. In terms of losing fans I don't care - period."
-She characterises Lust For Life as not turning away from what's going on in the world and in politics.
-Isn't a fan of the Summertime Sadness remix that ended up being her biggest mainstream hit.
-Her measure of success for a record is just that it gets finished.
-She says (in regards to her past songs and controversial themes) "there's a lot of stuff I could have not said in songs and I said it anyways. It didn't always serve me to talk about some of the men I was with and what that was like, and then not comment on it further (...) I didn't edit myself when I could have because a lot of it was the way it was".

Rod Stewart Paid Travel Costs for Disabled Kids Going to DC to Protest Tr**pcare

Rod Stewart, who has lived in the US for 40 years and raised children here (what is Kimberly Stewart up to these days), saw a news story about disabled kids who didn't have the money to fly to DC to protest. He wrote a $30,000 check to Trach Mommas, a disabilities advocacy group, so the children could fly out to DC and fight for their rights. Versions of the proposed healthcare bill have proposed huge cuts to Medicaid. Such cuts would inevitably harm disabled and special needs kids because they would lose access to health and developmental services.

Rod Stewart issued a statement:

"Some of you may know that I live in America and pay my taxes here. I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican, but I am a father."
