Katy and Russell 'to meet in LA'

Russell Brand has flown to Los Angeles for an emotional meeting with wife Katy Perry, the first since their split.

The couple have agreed to see each other one last time to discuss details of their separation.

Russel and a friend go to yoga

But sources close to singer Katy, 27, say she has not yet given up on her 14-month marriage to the British film star and comedian.

The sources deny claims that she is planning to start dating other men and that her Christian parents are keen to set her up with a devout American footballer.

Russell, 36, flew out to LA from from London on Friday night, and is also expected to attend tonight’s Golden Globes ceremony.

He has agreed to meet her one last time. He wants to sort things out and finalise the divorce,” said the pal. “Removal trucks have been moving his things out of the house they lived in and into a new place that Russell is renting.

“He needed to be in LA for the Globes too, so it was an ideal opportunity to meet. He is determined to move on.

“But Katy says she is still in love with him and she still has hopes they might get back together.”

The couple are believed to have agreed to meet on neutral ground, possibly at the Beverly Hills Hotel where Katy is believed to have been staying.

Russell’s new place is said to be a £1.5million bachelor pad, also in Beverley Hills.

Their decision to meet follows an emotional week in which distraught Katy has been comforted by her evangelical minister parents Keith and Mary Hudson.

A close friend of the family said: “Keith and Mary flew from Georgia to Los Angeles earlier this week to be with their daughter.

“She is doing OK under the circumstances, but this has been a very tough road for her.

“Keith and Mary have also been reaching out to Russell and sent him a text telling him he is in their thoughts and that they love him.”

But rumours that Christian Denver Broncos NFL star Tim Tebow, 24, was also in Mary’s thoughts as a replacement for Russell have been denounced by the Perry camp.

Her parents close friend Pastor Paul Endrei said: “Mary told me she never said anything of the sort. I don’t think either of Katy’s parents have even met Tebow.

“There is no way that she will start dating again until her divorce is finalised.”

Is Conrad Returning To 'Weeds?'

Romany Malco hasn't been a part of Weeds since season three, but Conrad was name-checked so many times throughout the recently aired

I caught up with Romany after the TCA panel for his new FX animated series Unsupervised where he revealed, for the first time, what the real deal is.

"To be quite honest, I don't know if I will ever come back to Weeds," Romany tells TheInsider.com exclusively. "I like the way Conrad left and I love that the show is name-dropping him constantly because they know that's what the fans want. And while I would love to go back to Weeds, I would only do it for a significant opportunity and I apologize to my fans for that."

"This is a business and my rate has tripled since I left the show," he adds. "Last season, they made ample attempts but we just couldn't make the timing work. There might be some little tension now because of my lack of availability, but I've been removed from [the Weeds] world for a while."

But Romany is very clear to add that if the business side matches the creative opportunity, there is nothing he would love more than to play Conrad again. "Mary-Louise Parker is the baddest mother f***er on the planet, she takes sexiness to a whole new level and I still love the show."

Luckily Romany's fans have a lot to look forward to. Not only does he have a recurring role on The Good Wife and the premiere of Unsupervised (Thursday at 10:30 p.m. on FX) to look forward to, but his new movie -- How To Think Like A Man -- is already breaking records. "That movie broke Screen Gems' record. It tested at a 96, which is the highest a movie has ever tested at that studio," he tells me. "I'm not just spinning you here, but How Think Like A Man is the sickest f***ing movie I've seen in a long time. I think my fans are going to love it.

Lana Del Rey Fans Show Support After SNL

Although singer Lana Del Ray was criticized for her performances on Saturday Night Live, many fans still support Del Rey the following day.

Although some took issue with Lana Del Rey actually landing a musical gig on SNL, others voiced their displeasure on Sunday after what many felt was a poor outing by Del Rey. Despite a wave of criticism, fans of Lana Del Rey were out in full force throughout Twitter to show their support.

One Twitter user named Kim felt for Lana on Sunday after her SNL gig. “Poor #Lanadelrey, it’s gotta be a rough morning for her.”

Another Twitter user named LostExpat shared a similar sentiment. “Everyone give @lanadelrey a break,” she tweeted. “She is an amazing singer and the fact she made it on SNL when her album isn’t even out yet says so much.”

Within the show of support, Twitter user Ray actually did give Lana a break. “Ok, I enjoyed @LanaDelRey ‘s performances. They weren’t her best but I still like her [and] stand behind her. Can’t wait for the album!”

However, Twitter user xRyANLiNKx made what may be the most appropriate statement yet regarding Lana Del Rey on SNL. “All this talk about #LanaDelRey on #SNL is kind of proving that there’s no such thing as negative publicity.”

What did you think of Lana Del Rey on Saturday Night Live?

FX Network's Big Risk With Sheen

$
0
0

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — The head of the FX network said Sunday he still hasn't seen a script for Charlie Sheen's new sitcom "Anger Management," which is due to premiere in June.

That's a little late, conceded John Landgraf, FX president and general manager. It illustrates the grand gamble made by the cable network, one with a potentially big payoff.

FX usually produces its own series, and Landgraf said he's never ordered one without seeing a pilot episode, much less a script. "Anger Management," loosely based on the 2003 movie about a troubled therapist who disrupts his patients' lives, is produced by Debmar-Mercury, a subsidiary of the Lionsgate production company.

Landgraf said he has faith in Bruce Helford, former producer of "The Drew Carey Show" and the creative force behind the new series.

The executive said he's met with Sheen, and is confident the actor is trying to pull his life together following the drug-fueled meltdown that led to his firing from CBS' "Two and a Half Men."

"Charlie has 30 years of incredible professionalism under his belt," Landgraf said. "He was respected by the crew of 'Two and a Half Men.' Then he had probably the most epic meltdown in the history of television. But he really cares about the quality of his work."

Successful television executives need to bet successfully on the right people to go into business with, and also the right time to go into business with them, he said.

Sheen wants to do a show where he is navigating a complicated relationship with his daughter, much like he is doing in real life, Landgraf said. He said he wouldn't be interested in the show if Sheen did not exhibit some self-awareness of what he's gone through in life.

"I believe in redemption," he said.

FX has ordered 10 episodes of "Anger Management," and will pair it on the schedule with reruns of "Two and a Half Men." It expects a strong debut for curiosity reasons. If it does well after that, FX will consider ordering 90 more, which would put FX in the lucrative business of being able to sell repeats of the show in syndication to other networks.

It's all a bet, Landgraf said.

"Could I be spectacularly wrong about this bet?" he asked. "Yes."

More RHONJ Twitter/Tabloid Drama + Is Caroline In Talks To Get Her Own Show?

Danielle VS. Jacqueline Round #4,583.

Melissa Gorga was infamously accused of communicating with Danielle and giving her dirt on Teresa Giudice — a tale that has never been substantiated nor disproved. Jacqueline Laurita has long suspected that Danielle was spreading false rumors about her and the other ladies. Well, vindication is Jacqueline’s.

Jacqueline’s annoying, immature persistence on Twitter has finally paid off because after Danielle had a falling out with her number one fan and co-conspirator Mardigrasbarbie, sh*t hit the fan. Or Direct Messages did anyway! Mardigrasbarbie was able to provide “proof” that Danielle was intentionally stirring up trouble and going to the tabloids with stories that were apparently made up. Oh, to have Danielle’s imagination and spare time…

Full explanation + iPhone Screenshots HERE

Finally, in a bit of RHONJ that is not totally insane. Or maybe it is depending on how you look at it. Caroline Manzo the mama bear matriarch of the New Jersey ladies is in talks to get her own spin off. We all know she’s Andy’s favorite because he’s in love with Albie! According to a new report the only Housewife already confirmed for Season 5 of the tumultuous show is Teresa and Jacqueline is definitely out (which has been corroborated in multiple reports). “They’re always looking for new cast members that would add something to the show; they’ve been heavily courting a few people from other networks who have shows,” a NJ insider tells Reality Weekly.

Caroline is still deciding whether or not to sign on for a fifth season and she is also in talks to develop her own show! About what I could only imagine? Babying her adult children and crying about how proud she is? “It’s all about timing,” the source explains. “She doesn’t jump into anything — and this is no different.”

J Lo & Marc Anthony Back Together?

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were back together yesterday for a promotional appearance for their joint new reality TV show, Q'Viva: The Chosen, at a TCA breakfast in Pasadena, California.

J Lo told reporters at the television conference that she and Marc 'have a great time working together,' but it looked like they were happy to do more than just "work together."

The former couple arrived holding hands and seemed to have their chemistry back, no bad blood in sight.

J Lo looked fabulous, of course, in a curve-hugging blue leather dress. We're sure Marc noticed how good J Lo looked as he reached out his hand to help her on stage before checking out her rings as she flashed her hand towards him.

Do they want that old thing back?

Their chemistry seemed natural, and not just for show. See for yourself in the gallery [below].

Los Angeles City Council Will Require Condom Use in Adult Films.

$
0
0

An ordinance that requires condom use in adult film productions is all but certain to gain final approval by the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday.  The San Fernando Valley-centered, X-rated entertainment industry could respond to the new law in a number of ways.

"If it does pass, some of the companies will, obviously, follow the law and use condoms, which is fine," said director and producer Will Ryder, whose company X-Play specializes in porn parodies such as "Not The Bradys XXX" and "Not The Cosbys XXX."

"But many, many producers will go underground, they'll go to other cities, they'll shoot without testing to save expenses, and you'll see the rogue element creeping in," Ryder warned.

For many years, the adult industry has required performers to take monthly tests for sexually transmitted diseases. Producers consistently do not hire anyone who turns up positive.

Porn professionals feel that this has proven an effective safeguard -- the last proven outbreak of HIV within the adult film community occurred in 2004, among one actor and three actresses -- and therefore makes condom use unnecessary.

"We're the safest people in the world, we're tested every 28 days," adult film star James Bartholet said. "We're a lot safer than 99 percent of the kids in nightclubs. I don't think this ordinance is a good idea because it's going to cause a lot of runaway production. We want to keep as much production, mainstream and adult, here in California as we can because it helps the economy."

Former adult actor Darren James -- the male involved in the 2004 HIV outbreak -- thinks the condom requirement is a good idea.

"It's great, it's outstanding and it's about time," James said. "A lot of people who don't make money will do a scene just to pay their bills and rent. A lot of them have drug issues, and are not provided with treatment and may not know that they're carrying something."

Of course, the vast majority of porn consumers prefer to watch unprotected sex acts, and adult filmmakers fear that adding condoms to their productions will further damage sales figures that have already been devastated by piracy and free Internet porn.

"I don't really like how it looks, and I prefer not to use them," Tujunga-based producer Erica McLean said, adding that she tries to accommodate any actor who requests a condom in her productions. "The films are supposed to be in-the-moment, and putting condoms on is distracting. And it just doesn't look sexy."

The ordinance will require productions applying to permitting clearinghouse FilmL.A. to agree on paper to employ condoms. While major producers such as X-Play and Vivid Video get permits for location shoots -- defined as any filming in the city not done on a studio lot or at certified soundstages -- it is generally understood that a majority of adult filmmakers simply don't bother to pull permits.

Even if the new requirement triggers an increase in nonpermitted adult shoots, though, it could, sooner or later, lead to more condoms seen onscreen.

"It's a federal OSHA guideline for the existing bloodborne pathogens law that, for the most part, people in the adult industry have chosen to be in compliance with as far as possible by testing," explained Chatsworth-based Immoral Productions owner Dan Leal, who live-streams hard-core webcasts five days a week and distributes through subscription-based sites, video-on-demand and DVD.

"All (the city) is saying is that they're going to enforce an existing law," Leal said.

Cal/OSHA is currently tasked with enforcing the existing condom requirement, but the workplace safety agency for the most part only responds to complaints. And adult film workers almost never complain about something that might limit their employment.

The city is forming a working group that will include LAPD, the City Attorney's Office and industry representatives to hammer out implementation.

"This ordinance gives us the ability to do our own enforcement," said City Councilman Paul Koretz, a longtime supporter of condom requirements. "I don't think we're going to make it the mission of the city to enforce every porn shoot, but we will do an occasional spot check, I assume, to keep them honest as it were. And we're going to put it in our filming contract, so that at least on paper they've said they'll use condoms."

Those who bypass the permitting process, when found, will be fined for that infraction and likely shut down. They'll have to get a permit -- and thereby agree to condoms -- in order to resume work, Koretz figured.

The ordinance is the result of a ballot petition drive organized by the Hollywood-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Rather than face the expected expense of $4 million to place the initiative on an upcoming ballot, the City Council decided to take up the issue. It passed on preliminary 11-1 vote last week, and then needs a simple majority of eight votes this week to become law.

And when it does . . .

"The lawsuits will be tremendous," Ryder predicted. "It will end up costing the city taxpayers millions and millions of dollars, which is unnecessary."

The adult film industry trade group The Free Speech Coalition isn't tipping its hand on that possibility just yet.

"We're looking at all of our options on this," coalition executive director Diane Duke said. "We're in discussions with some of the heads of the industry about legal challenges. We haven't determined yet what our strategy is going to be on that."

Duke insists that the industry's STD testing, which the coalition organizes and provides results of to producers, has done a stellar job of protecting its sex workers. She acknowledged the OSHA guidelines, but also pointed out that there has yet to be a court decision in their favor against adult producers.

If and when the new ordinance is implemented, Koretz expects most adult producers to fall into line.

"When I held hearings on this subject a number of years ago in Sacramento, there was a unified voice from the industry saying everyone would go underground and you'd have less enforcement," the former state assemblyman said. "There is a possibility that some of that happens. But I'm inclined to believe that the people who are doing it with permits want to follow the law and do it right. I'd be surprised if that changes."

Ordinance opponent Ryder admitted that he'd use condoms on his L.A. sets if required to but would also go outside the city limits for noncondomed shoots.

"The general perception of this business is that we're unbusinesslike and lawless, but the truth really couldn't be any further from that," Ryder said. "But I think the City Council should get its nose out of private enterprise; make it easier to do business to make money and generate tax revenues rather than to hinder private business."

'Shameless' Star Jeremy Allen White talks about Lip

$
0
0

It’s summer in Chicago on the second season of Showtime’s Shameless. And just as the melted snow has revealed a side of the city we didn’t see on its first season, many of its characters are exposing sides of themselves that we only saw a glimpse of before. Similarly, oldest Gallagher son, Lip, will begin to face aspects of himself that he hasn’t wanted to face before.

“The Frank character, he’s a drunk, he’s crazy, but very intelligent and I could imagine that Frank at Lip’s age could be very similar to Lip,” Jeremy Allen White, who plays Lip, tells the Hollywood Reporter.

“And I think that Lip starts fearing the possibility in this season that that could happen,” he continues. “There are some connections that Lip makes that one day he could become like his father and he really, really tries his best to avoid any of those possibilities, but kind of in the wrong ways.”

Like Frank (William H. Macy), Lip’s natural intelligence has thus far been used for moneymaking schemes and getting out of the trouble they’ve gotten him into. And the question as to how he uses those abilities will become an issue in the family this season.

“In return, Lip is equally as frustrated,” he says. “Because he thinks, ‘Why? I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t ask for what I have. Why should I have to do anything with it? Why can’t I do whatever I feel like? Why can’t I just be another guy in this neighborhood?”

“I think it’s really about Lip loving where he comes from and his roots are very important and he doesn’t want to leave that,” he continues. “Lip doesn’t want to become a yuppie. He doesn’t want to go out into the world. He feels very safe in this atmosphere. It’s where he grew up and it’s where he feels like he’s able to survive and he doesn’t want to leave.”

It’s in that desire to stick to his roots where Lip will be forced to deal with his increasing likenesses to Frank and things get pretty bad for the character before he realizes it for himself.

“There’s a lot of strain in the family and Lip is kind of separated from them for a while and that’s when you really see some similarities to Frank,” he says. “He’s going around town looking for places to stay.”

On the love front, Lip will find himself dealing with feelings toward Karen that he’s not used to. There’s the challenge of another man, the challenge that he doesn’t really know what a healthy relationship looks like, and lest we forget the fact that she had sex with his father last season.

“Lip’s battling with those feelings with Karen throughout the second season,” White says. “It’s very hard. If my girlfriend at any point, did something like f--k my father, I wouldn’t be able to look at her. It would be something very difficult to do for me and I had a very hard time wrapping my head around the idea that Lip is still struggling to have some kind of relationship with this girl and I think that’s a testament to how empathetic Lip is.”

White says that he’s typically fine with story lines showing Lip crossing moral boundaries to make a buck, but he did approach the producers and writers about his character’s story line in respect to Karen.

“I didn’t understand the idea of chasing this girl who has f--ked up your life so terribly,” the 20-year-old says. “So that was very difficult, but I managed to come up with something and I hope it works when the other episodes air.”

Obsessed fan breaks into Kate Bush's home to propose to her

A Kate Bush fan has been deported from Britain after he allegedly broke into the star's home planning to propose to her.

American Frank Tufaro flew to the U.K. last year (11) and was carrying a diamond engagement ring when he allegedly broke a window and entered the singer's country mansion in Devon, England.

The Wuthering Heights star was not home at the time of the incident and Tufaro subsequently fled to a nearby property, where neighbours called emergency services.

A police team and a helicopter unit was deployed and the 32 year old was arrested.

He was detained under the country's Mental Health Act and last week (ends08Jan11), he was deported by U.K. Border Agency officials, who accompanied him to New York and handed him over to officers of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to the Daily Mail.

Tufaro tells the publication he didn't intend to enter the singer's home, but wanted to escape the cold weather.

He says, "I was inside for about eight minutes before I realised I had to leave. I just walked around and looked at everything. It wasn't what I expected... It was freezing cold, it was dark and I felt like I had nowhere to go. I didn't have a clue where I was and was convinced I was going to die there, it was so bitter and cold. I've never broken the law in my life and decided to break a window pane and let myself in so I wouldn't freeze to death." lol@this excuse

A statement from the U.K. Border Agency reads, "A 32-year-old man was removed from the U.K. to the United States on January 6. The incident which led to his arrest is purely a police matter."

Bush, 53, was nominated for Best British Female at the Brit Awards earlier in the week after releasing her 50 Words For Snow album in November.

Madonna vs Elton John continues: Elton's husband throws shade @ the Queen

$

Them's fightin' words!

Elton John lost to Madonna at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, where the Material Girl won for Best Original Song (Motion Picture) for "Masterpiece," which she wrote for W.E., which she also directed.

And John's husband, David Furnish, was unhappy about the loss. (Madonna beat out John's "Hello Hello" from the film Gnomeo & Juliet plus three other contenders, including Mary J. Blige's "Living Proof" from The Help.)

Shortly after the 53-year-old pop singer's name was called, Furnish wrote on his Facebook page: "Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!"

After Madonna's acceptance speech -- the orchestra even started playing in an attempt to cut her off -- Furnish's rant continued.

"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism," he wrote. "And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is."

Last week, Madonna gave several interviews in the press accusing her pop queen successor Lady Gaga of ripping off her classic "Express Yourself" in "Born This Way," calling the latter track "reductive."

But, backstage at the Globes, Madonna was hopeful that her win wouldn't irk John, 64. "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years," she quipped. "He's been known to get mad at me so I don't know. He's brilliant and I adore him so he'll win another award. I don't feel bad!"
