Miley Cyrus, in case you didn't know, loves weed. She loves it so much that, like, Snoop Dogg himself told her she smokes more than anyone he knows (which she only told every person who interviewed her at the time). This apparently got her to quit for ten seconds before her "mom got [her] back on it", as she revealed last December. And Tish, who used to scold both Miley and Hillbilly Ray for smoking weed, apparently now smokes the most, or whatever.

And, while it's all good and fun-time rainbow rooms for this family, many people online have pointed out how plenty of POC have faced jail time for smaller weed-related charges while the Cyruses can post a photo like the one above without facing any consequences.

A huge debate about white privilege and the U.S. justice system is now taking place amongst those who actually check Hannah Montana's parents' social media.

Well, not cringeworthy in a "why can't I support a harasser, he's my friend" way, at least.

The Fencing Federation of France (say it 5 times fast) now recognizes lightsaber dueling as an official sport.

In an effort to help combat obesity in the country, fencing clubs now have "lightsabers" and training would-be lightsaber instructors with weapons that sound and feel like the "real" thing without the slicy-stabbyness.

There was a competition outside of Paris that drew nearly 40 supporters. Bouts are intended to last in 3-minute bursts.

Maybe they can work up to 20 to 30 minutes soon.

Sunday is Oscar night and this years awards season can't end fast enough. With one messy decision after another, we may just witness the messiest cluckerfuck of a ceremony ever.

That said, with the ceremony 90+ years old, it almost goes hand-in-hand with messy moments.

Here's just some of the many examples I could find:

SUSAN SARANDON, TIM ROBBINS, AND RICHARD GERE GET POLITICAL. THEN GET BANNED.
--- The 1992 Oscars saw three presenters use their time to get political. Then married-couple Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins brought attention to Haitian immigrants who were detained for being HIV-positive. Richard Gere used his own time to denounce the Chinese government for its treatment of Tibet. As a result, The Academy banned all three for life from presenting, though that was eventually lifted.

BRETT RATNER DROPS OUT AS OSCAR PRODUCER. EDDIE MURPHY FOLLOWS AS HOST.
--- Nasty pig Brett Ratner was tapped to produce the 2011 Oscars with friend Eddie Murphy as the host. Not long after the announcement, Ratner told an attendance member during a Q&A for his film Tower Heist that "rehearsals for f*gs." The backlash came fast and Ratner dropped out. Rather than stay on like a mature adult, Eddie dropped out too. He was eventually replaced with Billy Crystal who did blackface in his opening skit. Considering the nominees that year, too, it would have been a good year for to just be canceled.

SAMMY DAVIS JR ANNOUNCES WRONG OSCAR WINNER
--- Faye and Warren who?? Sammy Davis Jr presented the score awards for the 1963 Oscars back when they had original and adapted categories. Sammy first announced John Addison's score for Tom Jones was the winner of the adapted category. Only problem: it was the original winner. The crowd didn't know how to react but luckily Sammy was able to play the moment for laughs and keep things running smoothly as could be in that situation.

ELIA KAZAN GETS AN HONORARY OSCAR AND PEOPLE AREN'T VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT
--- Elia Kazan ended the career of several actors and writers after snitching on them to the House Un-Americans Activities Committe back in 1952. So when the Academy gave him an Honorary Oscar in 1999, the majority of the crowd was not having it. Just watch above and cringe (and then make a gif of Ed Harris and Amy Madigan cause I need it).

VANESSA REDGRAVE GOES AFTER ZIONIST; PADDY CHAYEFSKY GOES AFTER HER.
--- Vanessa Redgrave won the 1977 Oscar for Supporting Actress for Julia. That same year, she funded and narrated a documentary called The Palestinian, dealing with the Palestinian Liberation Organization. The Jewish Defense League was less than thrilled and protested her. During her acceptance speech, Vanessa thanked Hollywood for not being intimidated to who she refered to as "Zionist hoodlums." Later that night writer Paddy Chayefsky said people need to stop using the Oscars as a political platform and basically told Vanessa to shut up and keep it simple.

SOMEONE LET SETH MCFARLANE SINGING ABOUT BOOBS
--- Seth McFarlane hosted the 2012 Oscars and decided to use his opening monologue to sing a song about seeing actresses breasts on-screen. Like fucking yikes who agreed to this??

-The Little Mermaid is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and the voice that won over the hearts of a billions is reflecting on being part of the iconic film.

-She never expected to be as well known as she is for the film. She expected to just go back to New York and resume her every day life.

-Believes that each generation will have a different interpretation of Ariel, 2019 is very different from 1989 which is part of what makes it so special.

"When I was working for the Bagdasarians, Ron [Dias] was doing freelance for us. When the VHS cover was released everyone was talking about it. Ron came by to drop off some work, and I knew he was mad at Disney for not getting to work on Little Mermaid, so I asked if he had seen it. He said not only had he seen it, he painted it...
Disney asked him to paint the cover at the last minute. He only had a weekend to do it and had to work until the wee hours of the morning to finish it on time. He was kind of punchy from lack of sleep towards the end and decided he'd put a little joke in it for himself, if you know what I mean.
He woke up Monday morning and looked at it with fresh eyes and said to himself, "Ohmigosh! That isn't as subtle as I intended it to be... it isn't subtle at all!" But his appointment with the production person at Disney was at 10am, so he didn't have time to revise it. He dashed to the meeting and delivered the painting and pointed it out to the woman and offered to revise it for free. She said that there was a meeting of execs that afternoon to review the cover and she would let him know if he needed to revise it.
Ron didn't hear back for a week and he was sweating that he might have offended them and would never work for Disney again, so he called the production lady and asked if they wanted him to revise it. She said no, the executives approved the cover as is. She said she pointed it out to them and relayed his offer to revise it, but they liked it just as it was.
Ron shrugged his shoulders and said, "If they don't care, I guess I don't either." Disney gave him the lead stylist job on the Little Mermaid TV show around that time, so I guess they were happy with it. Maybe it sold more copies that way."

A recent study suggests that YouTube is to blame for the rise in Flat Earth believers. Assistant professor of science communication at Texas Tech University, Asheley Landrum, attended some of the biggest Flat Earthers conventions and surveyed 30 people. 29 of them said they believed the Earth was flat after watching videos on YouTube.

While Landrum doesn’t outright blame the popular video-sharing website, she does say that they can do better by tweaking the platform’s algorithm to show more accurate information. Last month, the company said it would start “reducing recommendations of borderline content and content that could misinform users in harmful ways” and that it would be a “gradual change.”

There's a new season of American Idol but who cares that's not this post is about (premieres March 3), but we get a reality TV crossover. Evelyn was a cast member of The Learning Channel's 90 Day Fiancé where she showcased her love for music in her Apple Core Bible Thumping town of Claremont, New Hampshire. She auditioned for bootleg Star Search in Hawaii and she made passed. At age 18, she married weird ass creep David who was 27. They are unfortunately still together, but he is not in California while she is filming the show. She has put on some music videos which I posted and a clip from her TLC days, don't forget where you came from gorl! For her audition she covered Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" - scandalous! Her latest single "Yard Sale Guitar" was released earlier this year.

Karl Lagerfeld has passed away at the age of 85. He died from pancreatic cancer. Virginie Viard will replace him at Chanel.
