Box Office Mojo released the weekend totals on Sunday, "The Avengers" earned $1.7 million pushing the US Domestic Gross over $620 million and the worldwide total to $1.501 billion.
Disney and Marvel Studio's "The Avengers" hit $1.5 million on Sunday, thanks to an unexpected Labor Day Weekend re-release and marketing push. Disney increased the theater count to 1,700 on Friday, exploiting the long holiday weekend to push the superhero blockbuster over huge milestone.
Box Office Mojo released the weekend totals on Sunday, "The Avengers" earned $1.7 million pushing the US Domestic Gross over $620 million and the worldwide total to $1.501 billion.
"The Avengers" was already the No. 3 film of all time behind "Titanic" ($2.2 billion) and "Avatar" ($2.8 billion), both from filmmaker James Cameron.
The Joss Whedon directed film has been a massive success, credited with Disney's recent announced profits. A sequel will be written and directed by Whedon, arriving in theaters in 2015 as the climax to the next phase of Marvel superhero films.
Labor Day is not included in that tally as the release of the Blu-ray/DVD is set for September 25 with 30 minutes of additional deleted scenes and featurettes.
"Avengers" stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.

So I made a comment in the last Backstreet Boys post about all the celebs I've run into the past two weeks in NYC, and I was told to make a post about it! So hereeee we go!
I work in the hub of NYC and saw on Twitter 2 weeks ago that Donnie Wahlberg was filming Access Hollywood in Rockefeller Center so I mosied on over there. I got his attention by wishing him a happy belated birthday and he then came over after filming to take pics with all the fans :D (Bridget Moynahan from Blue Bloods and Missy Franklin from US Swim Team was also there, but they didn't come over).
If only I had gone the day before in hopes of seeing Ryan Lochte!
Then on this past Wednesday, just as I left work and walked through my building doors, there was a black SUV parked right in front and coming out of it to go into my building was Aviva Drescher from RHONY. I was like, is this even real life?! What are the chances?? So I stopped her for a picture and she was awfully nice and pretty in person (and tall, she looks like a giant next to me!) I told her she was a great addition to the show and she put up her hands as I was leaving and went "AHHH, Monday nights are CRAZY!"
Last Tuesday, I went out for lunch with a coworker to a cafe on the same street as where the trailers for Wolf of Wall Street were stationed, and I caught Matthew McConaughey coming out of his trailer after hair and makeup. His assistant then opened up an umbrella that Matthew could hide under, and they walked away.
Last Monday, I walked through Rockefeller Center to get to work and 30 Rock was rehearsing. I waited for a bit and caught Tina Fey.
Last Tuesday night, I went to see Aaron Carter perform in The Fantasticks off-Broadway. Not only did he follow me on twitter during the show, but he DM'ed me saying "hope you enjoy it babe". Haha, I was like, dude is backstage during the play checking twitter?? Anyway, I met him afterwards and got a picture. Before I even said anything to him, he goes to me "I tweeted you right?" haha.
NOW ON TO THE GOOD STUFF
I was at work on Wednesday checking twitter when the Backstreet Boys posted a picture of them at a Rolling Stone/US Weekly luncheon and I DIED IN MY CHAIR. WHY, you ask? Because the Rolling Stone/US Weekly offices are IN MY BUILDING. Like, what do I do???? I'm in love with the Backstreet Boys and they're the only celebs that I will go batshit for, and they're in my fcking building! So my crazy ass goes downstairs and asks my floor's security guy if he knows what's going on, and he confirmed that BSB entered the building 30 minutes ago. I just about died right there and then, and he swiped me into the Rolling Stone elevator bank so I could wait for them.
So I waited, and finally, like the gates of heaven, the elevator doors opened and out came AJ, Brian, Howie, and their crew. I didn't manage to get AJ and Howie's attention, though I'm pretty sure AJ made eye contact with me. I managed to call over Brian and I asked if he thought I could get a group picture and he said probably not since the other guys were already ahead and they were headed back to the hotel, but he was like "But let's us get a picture!" and I was like OKAY cuz Brian's always been my favorite anyway. And I rambled to him about how I just about died when I saw on Twitter they were in my building and how I'm a huge fan and that I'd be seeing them on Frid at Good Morning America.
My dumbass then left and went back to my floor before I realized that I never saw Nick and Kevin, which means they probably waited for the next elevator. So I missed them =( BUT NO HOPE IS LOST!
So on Thursday, I decided to take a walk during lunch since it was a gorgeous day and I ended up walking past the BSB hotel (like, 2 streets from where I work) and as I'm walking past, FCKING NICK CARTER GETS OUT OF A CAR AND I'M DYING AND I RUN OVER THERE SHAKING LIKE HOLY SHIT CAN I GET A PICTURE. I didn't get to talk to him since he was on the phone, but he nodded when I asked for a picture, and once I got my camera ready he said "Hold on a sec" to whoever he was on the phone with, smiled for my picture, then got back on the phone and left. My rude ass interrupted his phone call and accosted him on the street, but he still took a picture with me and looks LIKE PERFECTION, BEAUTY, GORGEOUS, A GOD. I wobbled away with my legs shaking and about to give out, you have no idea.
Ok, so I got my picture with Nick, and I'm walking back to work, and crossing the fcking street that I'm about to cross is HOWIE D!!!!!! All I could think was IS THIS REAL LIFE!?!? He was walking with one of their crew guys, so I was like HOWIE, omg, can I get a picture? And he said sure. The crew guy said Yeah let's make it quick though we need to get back, so he took the picture. And I told Howie I'll be going to see them on Frid at GMA and I congratulated him on the new baby (his wife is preggers!) and he said Thanks and left and I was like what is my life idek.
Three out of 5 Backstreet Boys within two days. damn, bsb need to move to NYC.
So then on Friday, I woke up at 3:30am to get ready to drive into NYC with my friend for the Good Morning America concert. I had won VIP passes (thank you to all on ONTD/Reezy posts that voted for me!!!!!) The VIP line was huge and I was near the back of it but I was still closer to the stage than general admission. The show was UNBELIEVABLE! (I'll link to my youtube videos down below. I took video of every second they were on stage lol). Kevin thanked the fans after IWITW and got choked up because the crowd was going INSANE for him. Also, their voices on the TV when I watched it back sounded like crap, but in person they were AMAZING AS IS EXPECTED. My friend that came with me is an NSYNC fan but even she was rocking out to the songs lol.
Anyway, so after GMA, my friend and I hit up the upper east side for brunch, while my other friend is texting me "where is your mind?" since I didn't go straight to the hotel. Anyway, like three hours later, I got back to midtown and made my friend come to the hotel with me where there was already 40-50 fans waiting. I waited not 5 mins when security came and put up barricades. 5 mins later their bodyguard Q came out. 5 mins after that, the boys came out to get into their van. It looked like most of them went straight into the van, but I'm not sure because Kevin came over by our side and took pics. I think the other guys did take some pics but not as much. So I got my picture and hug with Kevin Richardson. I told him we're so excited to have him back and he was great today and he said thanks, and my new camera takes video while you take pictures, but my friend didn't realize it was recording and put my camera down, so I can hear myself asking him for a hug but you can't see it. =(
No meeting AJ though. *cries*. Until next time!

The Avengers Blu-Ray goes on sale September 25th and one deluxe edition was supposed to come packaged with the briefcase from the movie holding a cosmic cube.
However, Disney never got permission from the German maker of the actual briefcase, with the luggage company, Rimowa, filing a trademark lawsuit.
While Disney did have permission for the movie, they did not for the plastic Blu-Ray edition.
Amazon has pulled the "Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Avengers Assembled 10-Disc Collectors Set" from their pre-orders with a notice the product is under review.
"Please be advised this item is currently under review and is not available to pre-order."
Disney/Buena Vista has also pulled the briefcase image from their site and replaced it with a new one.
Depending how ticked off Rimowa might be, maybe we'll still get the briefcase if Disney floats over enough cash.
This better get handled before the release date :(
We are suckers for a good mystery. Add dysfunctional tragic heroes and we're just about smitten.
CBS' take on an old classic brings the famous friends Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to New York City, but don't let the unconventional duo, locale and times fool you: This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
We should probably preface this with a disclaimer. We are big fans of the BBC's Sherlock, but we believe that more than one modern Sherlock Holmes adaption can exist in the universe without taking away from the brilliance of the other. Shocking, we know.
You may think you know Sherlock Holmes, but you don't know this one. It's different approach focusing on the recovering-addict Holmes. He's quirky in the best sense of the word, but probably more aptly, he's complex.
We're introduced to Sherlock Holmes (Miller) through his newly appointed sober companion, Dr. Joan Watson (Liu). She is no-nonsense, but Holmes has her number from the get-go. Or does he? She's suffering from some past trauma that pushed her out of the OR. And Holmes used drugs to forget some past trauma that pushed him out of London. It's a match made in dysfunctional heaven.
Elementary is very much a CBS show. CBS knows what they do well, and this they do very well. If you like crime shows, you'll recognize the beautifully stylized slow-motion shots and intricately weaved mystery.
But while perfectly feeling like a CBS show, it feels fresh and different from their other offerings. It may be due to Miller's complicated and nuanced performance as Holmes. There is enough intrigue to keep us interested, enough humor to keep us entertained. We've already saved a place on our DVR for this baby.
And before you get your panties in a twist about sexual tension and a female Watson, cool yo' jets. This Holmes and Watson have an interesting dynamic, not because they want to jump each other's bones, but because they both are intelligent, stubborn and interesting people who are both clearly damaged. And while Watson is being paid to be Holmes' sober companion to keep him on the straight and narrow, something tells us this new partnership will be good for her too.
Liu says that the bosses don't have any intention of taking the Holmes-Watson relationship to the romantic direction, but references the source material for Holmes' interesting relationship with women. "There is friction," Miller adds. "That creates a tension and a friction rather than the other way."
Actress Hilary Duff seems to be happy with the tiny pleasures of motherhood. The 24-year-old actress has shared a latest photo of her cute son Luca Cruz Comries with her more than one million followers on Twitter.
"LUCA" the actress wrote after posting a photo of her five-month-old bundle of joy, Aug.30.
Tweets from her will-wishers have been pouring to the proud mother's Twitter account since then.
While one of them described the bundle of joy as "cutest baby ever x," another wrote: "God Bless him! He is soooo precious!"
Duff married hockey player Mike Comrie in 2010 and Baby Luca was born March 20.
The singer and actress, after welcoming her first child always wanted to be a perfect and responsible mother. "I love changing diapers!" Duff told People magazine in June. "I'm really good at it. I've got it down."
"There are so many fantastic things [about motherhood]. Everything's been really wonderful, and the time's just been flying by. I want it to slow down."
Though she loved her duty as a mother, she found it equally difficult.
"It's a challenging job, and the reward is so great and I feel so empowered. Knowing what your kid wants when he cries is the best feeling in the world," People magazine quoted the actress as saying.
Though the couple loves kids, they do not have any plans for a second baby immediately.
"Obviously we want more kids but we want to really enjoy Luca. I'm young. I still want to work and I feel like I have a lot to do," Duff told E! News earlier.
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen's hair stylist Jason Cooking says tonal fusion is the hottest trend of the season.
The celebrity hairdresser revealed that he prefers a more natural blend of the fashionable ombre and dip-dye colouring methods.
Cooking says for a less harsh look, fans of two-tone colour should ask for softer tones at the salon. "Right now, the trend I'm loving most is tonal fusion hair colouring. Forget blunt and bright dip dyes, choose muted, more natural shades to create seamless and beautiful looking hair," he's told UK magazine Closer.
The star stylist also shared one of his favourite day-to-night looks and has also revealed how to go from an office-suitable style to a party do in just a few simple steps.
Cooking advises braid your hair when it's still damp and fix with a spritz of hair spray, then "after work, tease loose for a tousled party look," he says.
For those with natural curls, the hair expert recommends a must-have tool to keep tangles at bay.
"Tackle knotted locks with a Tangle Teezer. It's a brilliant invention with flexible bristles that brush through locks easily and painlessly - a beach-bag essential," he says.
Heidi Klum has adressed comments made by her soon-to-be ex-husband, Seal, alleging that she had cheated on him with her bodyguard. A rep for the supermodel said, “It is sad that Seal has to resort to false accusations.”
Seal had suggested that Heidi had an affair with her bodyguard of four years, Martin Kristen. Seal said, “To be quite honest, if there is going to be somebody else in [my children’s] lives, I’d much rather it was a familiar face,” continuing, “I guess the only thing I would have preferred is that — I guess I didn’t expect any better from him, I would have preferred Heidi show a little bit more class, and at least wait until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help, as it were.” Seal went on, “But I guess you now all have the answer that you’ve been looking for for the past seven months.”
Seal has, meanwhile shot back at the allegations made against him, saying that he felt pressured by reporters. A rep explained, “Seal would like to clarify that he was not implying his wife was cheating while they were together, but he was merely pointing out that their separation and divorce were not final, and they are still legally married. These guys bombarded him and were in his face. He was exhausted, which is why he wants to clarify what he said. He doesn’t like now being made into the bad guy here — he always loved and cared for Heidi.”
Heidi and Seal announced their separation in January after seven years of marriage, they have four children together — Leni, 8, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2.
Seal now says 'Heidi Klum didn't cheat' with bodyguardSEAL has backed away from comments he made about Heidi Klum 'fornicating with the help' while they were together.
The Voice judge had told TMZ that Klum lacked class and that he had wished she waited until they were separated before hooking up with her bodyguard, Martin Kristen.
But a rep for the singer started backpedalling overnight, saying what Seal meant was that he had hoped Klum would wait until the divorce came through.
''Seal would like to clarify that he was not implying his wife was cheating while they were together, but he was merely pointing out that their separation and divorce are not yet final and they are indeed still legally married,'' the singer's rep said in a statement.
Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe has been rescued by the US coastguard after getting lost on a kayak trip off New York's Long Island.
The 48-year-old actor and his friend, Chris Feather, set out on Saturday afternoon but got lost as night fell.
The coastguard heard Crowe call out from the shore around 22:00, after the pair were forced to beach their kayaks.
Crowe posted a message on Twitter in the early hours of Sunday, thanking the rescue team "for guiding the way".
Later, he added: "Not lost, we knew where exactly where we were, paddling around from CSH [Cold Spring Harbour] into wind, we ran out of day.
"Grand adventure eh @chris_feather?"
Coast Guard Petty Officer, Robert Swieicki said he had not recognised the Gladiator star as he and Feather, a personal trainer, paddled over to the rescue boat.
He insisted the award-winning Australian actor "just needed a little bit of help", adding "he just got a little lost".
"It wasn't really a rescue, really, more of just giving someone a lift," said Swieicki.
The coastguard officers lifted the pair and their kayaks into the boat and ferried them to Huntington Bay, 10 miles from where the pair had set out on their trip.
Swieicki said Crowe, who was grateful and friendly, seemed like he was a fairly experienced kayaker.
He said no one was injured, and the two men were wearing life vests.
Crowe has previously played a naval commander, Captain "Lucky Jack" Aubrey, in the Oscar-nominated drama Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World.
The star is currently on Long Island playing the biblical seafarer Noah, in a big budget film by director Darren Aronofsky, scheduled for release in 2014.

She’s already made one bad decision this year – leaving American Idol – so let’s hope she’s not making another one. Jennifer Lopez will definitely want to have more children in the near future, admitting that she hasn’t closed the doors to extend her family just yet. The singer who already has two children from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony, is currently dating Casper Smart and although she says she wants to welcome another child to the world, she didn’t exactly reveal from who.
“I haven’t closed shop in that department,” she said. “I don’t know, [we'll] have to see – we only have so many years that you can do that. I am a lover. I mean, at my core I feel like that’s such a big part of my personality – and a part of why I do what I do – because I have so much to say on that subject. I feel like that’s what my life is about.”
Lopez shocked Hollywood last year when she announced she will be filing to divorce Marc. However, while many may think that these two may not be getting along anymore because they are no longer together, they are mistaking because Jennifer says, Anthony and herself are still in great contact and only want what’s best for their two children, Max and Emme.
“Obviously something wasn’t perfect,” she said. “But the truth is that there’s love there. We were great friends first – and we have two babies. The main goal is to just not mess them up, to really make them OK and be sure that we are what we need to be to them first. You go second in that equation. The 29-year-old Sydney born supermodel struck a range of titillating poses for the front page effort while dishing about everything from life with baby Flynn to her top-notch culinary skills.

The stunning model regularly appears on the front cover of publications and she says it's important to look approachable in the images.
She told Australia's Marie Claire magazine: ''When you shoot a cover it's more about engaging with the audience. You need to be a little bit more friendly and approachable. It depends on what you're wearing, as well, and the feeling that you want to portray and what the editor wants. We all work together and you try and give a few variations and then they can get what they want.''

Since the actress is planning on walking the aisle in a simple yet chic dress when she marries Justin Theroux next year, VB is rumoured to be at the top of the shortlist.
“Jen's a big fan of Posh's fashion range and she's one of the names being considered, along with Valentino and Carolina Herrera,” a friend of Jen’s has reportedly revealed.
“Jen wants a dress that's simple and classy, which is what Victoria's known for.”
But with Valentino apparently designing a wedding frock for Angelina Jolie, do you think Victoria can stand the style competition?
Last night, in his Hugo acceptance speech, Neil Gaiman mentioned some exciting news: He's writing a second Who episode. In fact, he mentioned that only a fool or a madman would attempt to write another episode of Doctor Who after having pleased people so much the first time around — so he's on his third draft of a new episode now.
We caught up with Gaiman at the Hugo afterparty, and he told us more about this surprising turn of events. Apparently the new episode is slated for the second half of season seven, which means that it could air as soon as spring 2013. But Gaiman pointed out that "The Doctor's Wife," his Hugo-winning episode, was originally slated for season five and got bumped to season six for budgetary reasons. The same thing could easily happen to his new episode, he said — and it sounds like this is another super-expensive story to make. Fingers crossed we get to see it sooner rather than later.

We know you love your family and your freedom as much as Gena and I do, and it is because of that we can no longer sit quietly or stand on the sidelines and watch our country go the way of socialism or something much worse.
As Edmund Burke said, 'All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men and women do nothing.'
Our great president, Ronald Reagan said, 'Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same.
President Reagan went on to say that 'You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.
