Just when you thought it was safe to forget about Carly Rae Jepsen for a little while, she goes and does something like this. The Canadian pop star, slowly easing out of the public consciousness after the ubiquitous success of her song “Call Me Maybe” last year, was asked to throw the ceremonial first pitch before the Tampa Bay Rays’ game against the Houston Astros.
What she provided can only be loosely defined as a ‘pitch.’
Certainly not great, but let’s cut Jepsen some slack. First of all — tons of people have botched first pitches. Even Washington Wizards point guard John Wall got one wrong in eerily similar fashion. Secondly — she did it well before, tossing this nice one right over the plate at Camden Yards earlier this season.
But still…if that effort in Tampa Bay is how she threw her wish in the well, then it’s no wonder she’ll never tell. Ba-dum chhh.
