Frances Conroy is returning to FX's anthology series American Horror Story for its second season.
Series co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted Wednesday that the actress will play "the ultimate angel" in the rebooted show's second season, titled American Horror Story: Asylum.
"Thrilled to announce Emmy nominee Frances Conroy is returning to AHS," Murphy tweeted. "Devils and angels this year...Frannie plays the ultimate angel."
Conroy is nominated for an Emmy her role as the elder version of Moira O'Hara, a ghost trapped in a haunted Los Angeles mansion, in the first season of AHS. The actress recently told The Hollywood Reporter that she was hoping to return for the second season.
"It would be dark, but it would be great," she said. "It would be so interesting to jump into another world if they put me on for an episode."
With her fifth Emmy nom, she faces off against the likes of fellow supporting actress in a miniseries/movie nominees Jessica Lange, her Horror co-star who also is returning to the show.
The cast also includes fellow Emmy nominee Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, James Cromwell and Joseph Fiennes.
AHS premieres at 10 p.m. Oct. 17.

I know I shouldn't be excited for this season, but I kind of am.
