NFL star Chad Johnson was arrested Saturday night for domestic violence ... allegedly against new wife Evelyn Lozada, one of the stars of VH1's "Basketball Wives," this according to various reports.
Johnson allegedly head-butted Lozada during an argument, says the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, reportedly while the two were in a car. The paper says when cops arrived to the scene, Lozada had lacerations on her forehead.
According to NFL.com, the fight started when Johnson found a receipt for condoms in the car. The site says Johnson told police he butted heads with Lozada by accident.
Johnson and Lozada were married last month in Miami after Johnson proposed in November 2010 with a massive 10-carat diamond ring.

Dolphins receiver Chad Johnson was arrested Saturday night on a domestic violence charge after allegedly head-butting his wife during an argument in their car. He was still in custody as of late Saturday night and might not get an appearance in front of a judge until Monday, Davie police captain Dale Engle said. According to Engle, Johnson and his wife, Evelyn Lozada, were driving to their home in Davie after dinner Saturday night when Lozada found a receipt for a box of condoms in the car, sparking an argument that got “heated.” When they arrived at their home, the argument “escalated quite a bit,” Engle said, and Johnson and Lozada butted heads, giving Lozada a laceration on her forehead. Lozada told police that Johnson purposely head-butted her, while Johnson told police it was accidental. Johnson, 34, is a Miami native who joined his hometown Dolphins this offseason after 11 years with Cincinnati and New England. He and Lozada, a former star on the reality TV show Basketball Wives, got married July 4 and had their wedding filmed for a reality show. Johnson, who went by the last name Ochocinco the past three years before changing his name back this summer, doesn’t have a history of off-field arrests. But he earned a scolding from Dolphins coach Joe Philbin two weeks ago when he dropped several profanities during a news conference. Now the arrest will put Johnson’s career with the Dolphins in doubt. They can avoid paying him his $925,000 salary if they cut him before the start of the regular season. The Dolphins had the day off Saturday following their 20-7 loss to Tampa Bay in their preseason opener Friday night, and they return to practice at 1 p.m. Sunday. It’s unclear if Johnson will be present.
