Roseanne Barr is following in the footsteps of the likes of Charlie Sheen and Pamela Anderson - she is the latest celebrity to receive her own Comedy Central Roast.
The special is set to air on the cable channel on August 12. The list of celebrities set to insult the outspoken comedienne and TV star to her face on the program has not been revealed.
"All I can say is good luck finding anything about me to make fun of... I mean, I've never made a mistake or offended anyone in my life!" Barr, 59, said in a statement provided by Comedy Central.
In reality, Barr has been both made fun of and praised many times on and off screen - for her comedy, her fluctuating weight over the years and her no holds-barred attitude.
She rose to fame in the 1980s and performed standup comedy at Los Angeles' World Famous Comedy Store, which also helped launch the careers of the likes of David Letterman and Bob Saget. She went on to become one the most famous female comics, along with Sandra Bernhard, who would later reunite with her on the comedy series that made her famous - "Roseanne."
On the show, which ran between 1988 and 1997, Barr played a potty-mouthed, working-class mother of three. John Goodman played her on-screen husband. Barr met her real-life husband on the show - Tom Arnold. They were married between 1990 and 1994 and had no children. Barr has three daughters and two sons from other relationships.
After "Roseanne" ended, Barr voiced a character in the 2004 animated film "Home on the Range" and guest-starred on the show 'My Name is Earl' in 2006. She also provided the voice of baby Julie in the 1990 comedy film "Look Who's Talking Too," which starred John Travolta and Kirstie Alley.
Barr returned to television in July 2011 with the Lifetime Television reality series "Roseanne's Nuts," which saw her running a macadamia nut farm in Hawaii with her boyfriend Johnny Argent and son Jake. The show was canceled days after its season 1 finale on Sept. 16, 2011. She also details her life experiences in her book 'Roseannearchy: Dispatches from the Nut Farm,' which was released in January 2011.
Roseanne is set to reunite with Goodman for an NBC pilot called "Downwardly Mobile." Its release date has not been revealed.
Roseanne announced on Feb. 2, 2012 that she plans to run for president.
Sheen was the subject of a Comedy Central Roast in 2011, months after he dominated entertainment news with rants and bizarre interviews following his firing from the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men." Anderson, the busty star of lifeguard series "Baywatch," starred in one in 2005. Comedy Central honored her co-star David Hasselhoff with a roast in 2010.
"Although Roseanne appears to be a demure, soft spoken woman eternally committed to the status quo, we believe under the surface is an explosive, trail-blazing cultural revolution. We are honored to Roast her," said Kent Alterman, Head of Original Programming and Production at Comedy Central, said in a statement.
"Celebrating Roseanne's unprecedented achievements in comedy and television will surely inspire us to make this Roast more reminiscent of the classic roasts, where the intimacy of friends jousting with each other came through," he added.
Also, quick interview where she mentions Suri...
