A play by the actor Jesse Eisenberg is one of five world premieres that will highlight the 2012-13 season for the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, the company announced. Mr. Eisenberg (“The Social Network”) was nominated for a Drama League Award this year for his previous Rattlestick production, “Asuncion,” which he wrote and starred in. His forthcoming drama, “The Revisionist,” focuses on a struggling writer who travels to Poland to stay with his 73-year-old second cousin, who is a Holocaust survivor. The play will be directed by Kip Fagan, with performances scheduled to begin on Feb. 6 at the Cherry Lane Theater.

The season will start on Sept. 13 with “Through the Yellow Hour,” a new play written and directed by Adam Rapp (“Red Light Winter”), about one woman’s attempt to survive apocalyptic events. That is to be followed by, among others, “The Correspondent,” written by Ken Urban (“The Private Lives of Eskimos”), and “Basilica,” written by Mando Alvarado (“The Yellow Brick Road”).

February 6 – April 20; opening scheduled for February 21
At the Cherry Lane Theatre
David, a fledgling writer, flies to Poland to stay with Maria, his 73 year-old second cousin, to find the peace he needs to revise his book. Maria is a lonely widow and a Holocaust survivor who wants to reconnect with her distant American family.  As David and Maria’s relationship develops, she reveals details about her complicated post-war past that irreparably alters their relationship and teaches them something new about what it means to be a family.
Jesse Eisenberg most recently wrote and starred in Rattlestick’s Asuncion at the Cherry Lane Theatre, for which he was nominated for a Drama League Award.  He has appeared in the films The Social Network (Oscar nomination), Zombieland, Adventureland (BAFTA nomination), The Squid and the Whale, and Roger Dodger.  He is also a contributing writer for McSweeney’s and his humor essays have appeared in Harper’s and The New York Times.

I saw his last play and I really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to this one.
