Jake Johnson revealed to The AP that he is frequently asked to give hugs to male New Girl viewers while on the street!!!
"It confuses me a little. We'll have our arms around each other and I'll think, 'Our ears are touching'," Johnson joked. "It's not offensive. It just doesn't need to happen."
He also said of his aversion to hugging men: "My brother is my best friend in the world and in our lives we've hugged 15 times. With fame, you can't be that guy who says no. Omg same! I've NEVER hugged my brother.
"So, the surprising thing of fame is the amount of man arms that have been around my shoulders for photo opportunities."
Johnson also quipped that he hasn't been very successful in getting New Girl's writers to listen to his ideas for storylines.
"[Producer Liz Meriwhether will] go, 'What, Jake? I'm so tired'. And I'll go, 'This is how it has to be'. And she'll go, 'No, just say the lines'," he teased.
New Girl star Zooey Deschanel recently said that she is "not sure" if a musical episode will ever be produced because it might not fit "the reality of [the show's] world".
The sitcom returns for a second season in the fall on Fox. His film Safety Not Guaranteed WHICH BTW HAS A 92% RATING ON ROTTEN TOMATOES is now in select theaters.
Hannah Simone is one of the stars of 1883’s brand new Go Louder issue.
Now that we know she’s a London girl through and through, we love her just that little bit more. We caught up with her in LA to find out what’s currently making her tick.
Who’s currently on your iPod?
The Weeknd is a really great Canadian artist… Then The Black Keys, Adele, Florence and the Machine, that kind of stuff!
How would you spend a free afternoon?
What I like to do and it’s something people think is really odd here in LA (I feel this is from my London roots) but I like to go for a walk! Nobody goes for a walk here! I like to go for a walk to the shop, pick up my groceries and then walk slowly back. That to me is just a really nice way to spend an afternoon. People here think it’s absolutely mad because you drive everywhere. I always say if someone is in their car and they see a girl with long brown hair walking down the street, it’s probably me because no one else walks in Los Angeles!
Last movie you ever saw?
I just watched Never Let Me Go. It’s such a powerful film. It really makes you so much more aware of how we spend our time and who we spend it with and what we want to do with our lives. I know people think it’s a very sad film but I thought it was one of those wakeup call films.
Favourite place to shop?
That is an easy one; I am a sucker for markets! I think it’s because I grew up in Saudi where you’d find great jewellery and in India there’s lots of great markets. When I moved back to London I intentionally lived in Holland Park so I could walk to Portobello on the weekend.
Most treasured possession?
I honestly think my friends! My oldest friends live in North London and I’ve known them since I was 14. It’s a band of brothers, three brothers. They’ve been my family every summer I go back to England. They’ve been really grounding for me in my life.
They must love watching you now?
OH YEAH! (Laughs) They think it’s so wild and weird! When I was working at the UN I also had a part time job at a coffee shop so they thought they had it well then because they would come in and I’d slip them free coffees all night. Now it’s really funny because they’ll come visit me in LA and I can give them other little perks of the job. They thought they had it good with the free coffee- it’s gone right up a notch now! It’s very surreal but lovely!
Favourite designer?
There are certain designers that are just classic, like I love Stella McCartney. She’s amazing but really any fashion inspiration I’ve ever had has been from watching girls that I think look really cool walking down the street, what is she wearing and how did she put it together. I’m a big people watcher.
Most memorable night out?
I drove with the brothers to Edinburgh for Hogmanay. It was the CRAZIEST night. it’s like a huge street party and we had people that were trying to fight us, people that were trying to marry us. It was the wildest Scottish crazy party I’ve ever been to! It was great something I’ll never forget. That’s one of the best nights I’ve ever had. The Scots really know how to have a good time.
I’ve always wanted to go up for it!
We’ll be ready for a fight and be ready for a kiss because they’ll come at you both at the same time!! (Laughs)
If you could live anywhere else on earth right now, where would it be?
Nowhere I’m not leaving! (Laughs) I always move! I always leave after 2 or 3 years! It’s funny people here always aspire to have a home in LA and a home in NY I want to push it further and have my home in LA and I would love to have my second home be back home in London.
I’m the only Brit in the cast so it’s going to be interesting to see England’s reaction when I come back over!
What been the best advice someone’s ever given you?
If you really love something it’s what you do and the choices that you make! I think we grow up thinking love is a feeling that we have, but love is based in actions I think that really strikes a chord in me.
