A bit of odd news coming out of the UK: The John Gulager directed sequel to Alexandre Aja's Piranha has been pulled from the UK's theatrical release schedule and will be heading straight to DVD across the pond on March 19th, 2012.
What does this mean for the domestic release of Piranha 3DD? Well, probably nothing, but we'll be keeping a close eye on things for you just in case. When we know something, you'll know.

Thanks to DC reader Joey Monda for the heads-up.
Synopsis
Having awoken from their spring break extravaganza at Lake Victoria, the swarm heads upstream where they look to make a meal out of Big Wet, a local water park where when it comes to fun, nobody does it wetter! Thought they came to get wet, get loaded and get some, the staff and patrons get more than they bargained for when they must face the fiercest, most bloodthirsty piranhas yet. Lead by the strong-willed, studious Maddy and her friends, Barry and Kyle, the trio must dive in and take on these man-eating creatures using every ounce of their being ... but can they be stopped?

Bumped from fall 2011 to an "undetermined" 2012 date and then going straight to DVD in the UK? Yeah. I doubt this means nothing for the US release. I loved 'Piranha 3D'. It knew exactly what it was and was a great example of camp. The sequel just sounds like a mess to me.
