Women Are Getting 'Toe Jobs' To Ease Stiletto Discomfort

Women are hotfooting it to plastic surgeons for 'toe jobs' — that ease the agony of wearing towering heels like Victoria Beckham’s. Operations to inject cushioning "fillers" into toes, heels and the balls of the feet have doubled in the past year, Brit surgeons said yesterday.

The boom was revealed as it emerged sales of 6-inch heels quadrupled in the past 12 months. Designers are now touting 7-inch stilettos as the latest celebrity fad. The foot operations — costing around £380 ($618) and dubbed "Loub jobs" after shoe designer Christian Louboutin — allow women to wear the killer heels for hours longer. The impact on reducing pain lasts up to six months.

Cosmetic surgery group Transform has seen the number of women having the dermal fillers soar by more than fifth in the last month alone — just so they can ape stiletto-loving style icons who also include Coleen Rooney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry. A spokeswoman confirmed: "With the likes of Victoria Beckham stepping out in towering stilettos, British women are emulating the look."

But another op associated with high heels has also increased by more than a quarter — £2,700 ($4392) tummy tucks. Experts say even slim women can end up with pot bellies because of the way the shoes tilt their pelvises forward. Transform’s Shami Thomas warned: "Posture is affected — not always in a good way."
