Summer is finally here, and it’s time we kick back and listen to some tunes that fit the season. We aren’t talking about playing “Summer” by Calvin Harris on repeat, either. Turn these tracks on as the sunshine beams down on your face, and you’ll find yourself in the happiest mood imaginable.
Klingande - Jubel
Melodic house is bubbling, and Klingande is at the forefront of the movement. This breezy track will have you feeling like you’re lying out on a beach while drinking a Mai Tai. The sexy sax laid on top of the infectious groove is a match made in summer paradise.
Syn Cole - Miami 82 (Kygo Remix)
Kygo’s sound makes for ideal summertime music. When people brand someone’s music as “tropical house,” you know it’ll fit as part of your summer soundtrack. Placing Kygo on this list wasn’t difficult at all. The only difficult part was choosing which Kygo track we should put on the list. If you’re unfamiliar with Kygo, we recommend listening to the rest of his catalogue--it can be considered an entire summertime soundtrack on its own.
Mat Zo (feat. The Knocks) - Get Down 2 Get Up
Mat Zo’s versatility as a producer is mind blowing. He’s created hits in numerous genres, including trance, D&B, and progressive house. On “Get Down 2 Get Up,” he teams up with The Knocks, a duo widely known as one of the foremost purveyors of disco house. Turn this track on during a summer BBQ, and you’ll have all of your friends dancing in no time.
Duck Sauce - NRG
Duck Sauce’s new album, Quack, is full of tracks that would brighten your summer day. It’s tough to choose just one song from the album for this list, but “NRG” takes the cake. The extremely upbeat song can make almost anyone break into dance. The Skrillex/Kill The Noise/Milo & Otis remix of “NRG” is more popular, but it’s the original that you’ll want to play during the summertime.
Nelly - Ride Wit Me (Viceroy Jetlife Remix)
When Viceroy uploads tracks to his SoundCloud, he enters “Summertime, all the time” as the genre. We simply had to include the perpetual summer celebrator on this list. His breezy remix of “Ride Wit Me” helps revive one of the more memorable rap songs of the early 2000s. Who knew that Nelly vocals be the perfect companion for a beach day?
