Oh shit, Keke lashes out at twitter trolls & trending death hoax

Earlier in the week I wrote about the serial twitter pest who prides himself on starting fake death trends on the social media site. Unfortunately, this guy isn’t the only one who thinks there’s entertainment in reporting a celebrity has died (when of course they haven’t).

Today, some evil being posted a fake tweet from CNN which claimed young American actress Keke Palmer had been killed in a car accident. Keke stared in the Nickelodeon TV show True Jackson VP and has a large fanbase of young kids. She’s only 18 and understandably, when she learned of the hoax she was upset.

What amazes me is the number of people who’ve had a go at her for reacting so emotionally about this. Apparently twitter death hoaxes happen so frequently now that the celebrities involved should just laugh them off and forget about them.

I don’t blame Keke at all. I can only imagine how awful it must be to have your family and friends calling you in distress to verify something like this – particularly when you’re only 18.

I applaud Keke for taking a stand and sounding off. It’d be nice to think that this might deter people from doing this kind of thing, but I’m sure it won’t.
