The United States was burned by a last-minute Portugal goal during Sunday’s World Cup face-off, leading to a 2-2 draw and denying the Americans an automatic berth in the next round.
After a tense, back-and-forth match the U.S. team seemed to have in hand, the tie stunned the millions of Americans following the action on TV — including plenty of celebrities.
Their reactions spanned from disappointment in what felt like a defeat to pride that the squad played a tough Portuguese team to a draw.
The United States can still advance with a victory or tie against Germany on Thursday.
