Lady Gaga for Britney Spears - Quicksand (Circus, 2008)At the height of her popularity Lady Gaga penned a track titled Quicksand for Britney's comeback record, Circus, released in 2008. In addition, Gaga's background vocals can be heard throughout the song. She had this to say about the collaboration back in 2009: "She’s a nice girl – I just feel very honoured that she wanted to sing my song. I used to scream for her in Times Square and now I work for her. When I was 13 she was the most provocative performer of my time. I love her so much!".
Harry Styles for Ariana Grande - A Little Bit of Your Heart (My Everything, 2014)One Direction's Harry Styles penned a heart-felt ballad for Grande's sophomore album released last year. Showcasing both his writing talents and Ariana's vocals, this discreet yet powerful love song shows the immense potentials of both artists. Ariana recently performed the song at the Grammys.
Katy Perry for Iggy Azalea - Black Widow (New Classic, 2014)Originally recorded for Katy's album Prism, she then decided to pass the song to then up and coming rapper Iggy Azalea, feeling that it was too simmilar to another song in the album, Dark Horse. The song was released as a single in the summer of 2014 becoming a hit around the world and peaking at no3 on the Billboard charts.
Britney Spears for Selena Gomez - Whiplash (When The Sun Goes Down, 2011)Originally written and recorded by Spears for her album Circus, the track got excluded from the final tracklist and a couple of years later it ended up on Selena's album! The song was cited as one of the album's highlights by critics upon its release.
Lady Gaga for Jennifer Lopez - Hypnotico and Invading My Mind (Love?, 2011)Gaga continues her writing work for pop divas with two club-anthem songs found on Jennifer Lopez' comeback record Love?, released in May of 2011. Lady G is also credited as co-producer on Hypnotico.
Kesha for Britney Spears - Till The World Ends (Femme Fatale, 2011)Kesha is credited for writing one of Britney's biggest recent hits, the electronic-infused dance smash Till The World ends which achieved worldwide sucess in 2011. Kesha had this to say about the writing process and why she decided to give the song to Britney rather than keep it for herself: "I've never been more proud of anything in my career... It really solidifies me as a songwriter in the pop music world, which is what I consider myself first and foremost. So it actually is really, really exciting for me when I hear [Britney] sing it. Like, when I hear my own songs on the radio I have to kind of turn it down or change the radio or whatever. When I hear that, I fucking blow the speakers out and I order everybody to dance." Kesha was also featured on the official remixed version of the song along with Nicki Minaj which peaked at no3 on the charts. Here's Kesha herself jamming to the song in the club yesterday!
Justin Timberlake for Rihanna - Cold Case Love (Rated R, 2009)Justin Timberlake co-wrote one of Rihanna's best unreleased songs, the emotional Cold Case Love for her 2009 more mature and darker record entitled Rated R. With lyrics that seem to refer to Rihanna's infamous relationship with Chris Brown, the song definitely positions itself as one of the album's highlights. Timberlake spoke about the song and how he is definitely a fan of Rihanna's music: “I think she’s got, like, a million people writing songs for her, but the ones that we worked on she’s grown up a little bit and she has things that she can say. So that’s what we tried to do — craft things that are that of a young woman. She broke onto the scene so hard with the last record — to have that many songs on the charts is impressive. I think that the smartest thing she’s doing is not trying to emulate what she did but move forward … I’ve heard some of the stuff on the record and it’s awesome.”
Katy Perry for Nicki Minaj - Get On Your Knees (The Pinkprint, 2014)Finally Katy Perry in an unlikely move becomes one of the few pop acts who has recently worked with both Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj, as one of her tracks can be found on Nicki's latest album.
Meghan Trainor for Fifth Harmony - Sledgehammer (Reflection, 2015)
Keeping things recent one of last year's breakout stars All About The Bass singer Meghan Trainor can also be credited for giving the first bonnafide hit to rising pop ground Fifth Harmony.
