Nathan Sykes previews his solo album - The reviews

$

MTV
"MTV UK we're lucky enough to hear three songs from Sykes' forthcoming solo
album, and with much anticipation surrounding his new material on Twitter, we
were keen to know... Does it live up to the hype?
The answer is - in a nutshell - yes. Nathan has clearly matured as a singer -
even though he joked maybe not in person - and his material is a far cry from
the days of Walk Like Rihanna and honestly, we're relieved."

source,source,source

Sugarscape
"The first track Nathan played us was Kiss Me Quick; a massive Motown-tinged
track that essentially sounds like the result of a rather kinky one night stand
involving Justin Timberlake and John Newman."

"Nath's vocals are on POINT and we basically had to stop ourselves standing up
for a spontaneous shimmy given the situation. Dead catchy, very happy-clappy,
super slick."

"Moral of the story here? Nathan's vocally stronger than ever, isn't constrained
to that properly poppy The Wanted sound and is gonna surprise a lot of people
with his solo shiz. There's no first single yet (it's 'between four,' appaz),
but chances are it's gonna be bloody amazing."

Stagedoor
"aside from co-writing credits on all three, Nathan Sykes could potentially be
the UK’s answer to Justin Timberlake."

"it’s here where Sykes really comes into his own and ultimately assists in
sidelining his pop roots for something far more mature than his years. There’s a
huge amount of Motown influences included here, and that’s no bad thing"

"Building up to a choir-led finale (which, we later found was actually Sykes
multi-layering his vocals), this is the song that’ll help shift records to his
existing fanbase, the same way as Stay With Me helped Sam Smith."

"And in a nutshell, that’s it… We left impressed, and signing praises
(particularly toward Kiss Me Quick) – Nathan Sykes’ first single is still yet to
be confirmed, but from what we’ve been exposed to, the new collection should be
seen as something as quite exciting alongside unexpected."

Sam Smith covers Rolling Stone and talks Adele comparisons, weight, sexuality, and Beyoncé

Tired of being called the "male Adele":
"We're very different, and I feel like the constant comparisons might piss her off. It just annoys me that people can't digest two pop stars singing really personal songs who don't look like normal pop stars."

On his weight:
"I just want to lose weight for the Grammys, if I'm honest. I'm just very body-conscious. Sometimes I'm really proud that I don't look like other pop stars. But there's also moments where I'm like, 'Ugh, I wish I had abs like Bieber.'"

On wanting Beyoncé to win Album of the Year:
"She deserves it way more than I do. I'd be embarrassed if I got it over her. If I got it, I'd give it to her."

On his first heartbreak when he wrote a love letter to a popular kid, who wrote back saying he only saw Sam as a friend:
"It makes me emotional, actually. He looked out for me for the rest of school. He just made sure that if anyone took the piss out of me, he would stick up for me. He could have made it hell for me, you know?"

On being bullied after coming out and being called a "faggot" in front of his dad:
"I was just embarrassed that my dad had to see that, because I could only imagine how you feel as a parent. You just want to kill them. I was always embarrassed for the people around me. It actually never deeply affected me, you know?"

On an incident where he got attacked in London for wearing makeup:
"I got punched in my neck, just out of nowhere. It wasn't the easiest."

title or description

Jason Momoa was in Park City, UT promoting Sundance Channel's new series "The Red Road." During a panel he participated in, Momoa answered questions about the live-action debut of Aquaman.

"Well, things are going to be a little different. When I first went in I met with Zack (Snyder). His idea is pretty amazing. When I went in, he told me – my jaw kind of dropped. My jaw doesn’t normally drop. What he has planned for the DC world and definitely for Aquaman is something that, you know – I think I was brought on for a certain reason and they got some really cool plans for him. I’m really excited for everyone to see it."

"Last year, when I was on this panel I was like eating chicken breasts and in training when I wasn’t supposed to talk about anything. I wasn’t supposed to say anything until 2016. So I told a bunch of people that they could punch me in the face if I was on it, so I’m going to get hit a couple times. But they finally released it. I was supposed to keep it a secret for 3 years.

Well, just going off what you’ve seen so far ma’am, I don’t think he is going to be blonde or white. I can’t really tell you because I haven’t shot it yet. I hate to disappoint. But um, you know, I’m a little different than what those others… I hope you watch it with an open heart.
"

Highlights from Quote:
-Was eating chicken breasts while training
-Was supposed to keep casting a secret till 2016
-Aquaman will NOT be white or blonde.
-When asked about Michael Shannon's involvement in Aquaman, he responded with silence and a change of subject.

Meet Your Future Favorite Teen Movies

$

0
Coming-of-age movies are a dime a dozen at Sundance, but this is an exceptional year, with three of the buzziest films being teenager-centric, based around breakout performances from impressive newcomers.

What sets The Diary of a Teenage Girl, Me & Earl & the Dying Girl, and Dope apart from regular schlocky studio YA fare is their willingness to be more frank, daring, and provocative, as well as visually exuberant and goofy. Plus, NO DYSTOPIA! There are battles with sexual awakenings, grief, and crime to be fought, in addition to the more typical coming-of-age struggles.

The Diary of a Teenage Girl

The ballsiest (apologies for that) of the bunch is The Diary of a Teenage Girl, based on Phoebe Gloeckner’s semiautobiographical graphic novel of the same name about a 15-year-old growing up in 1976 San Francisco. Its heroine, Minnie (Bel Powley), saunters into the movie to the strains of the Dwight Twilley Band’s “Looking for the Magic,” drawling triumphantly, “I had sex today. Holy shit,” in a voice-over that turns out to be part of her cassette tape audio diary. Her glee is delightful…until we learn who did the deflowering: Monroe (Alexander Skarsgård, playing a perfect mix of ridiculous/sleazy/attractive), the flaky boyfriend of her flighty, hard-partying mom, Charlotte (Kristen Wiig). The Diary of a Teenage Girl is the first film from director Marielle Heller, who also wrote the screenplay, and the empathy and honesty she brings to Minnie’s experience and interior life is a powerful argument for why we need more female filmmakers.

Me & Earl & the Dying Girl

Greg (Thomas Mann), the hero of Me & Earl & the Dying Girl, has gone through life avoiding those highs and lows The Diary of a Teenage Girl explores. He’s cultivated a low-key affability that’s allowed him to be friendly with every social tribe in his Pittsburg high school without really being friends with any of them. The only person he’s actually close to is his best friend since kindergarten, Earl (RJ Cyler), who he prefer to call his “co-worker,” since together, they make hilarious pun-based home movies inspired by cinema classics. When one of Greg’s acquaintances, his classmate Rachel (Olivia Cooke), is diagnosed with leukemia, his mother (Connie Britton) insists he go hang out with her, and the forced friendship slowly becomes a real one even as Rachel gets sicker. If Me & Earl & the Dying Girl sounds like a profoundly quirky Sundance film crossed with a certain teen cancer one, it is. But it’s also improbably wonderful.

Dope

At a festival that still tends to be blindingly white despite its earnest efforts to diversify, Rick Famuyiwa’s crowd-pleaser Dope already stands out for having characters of color take center stage, and not having those characters’ stories be defined by suffering. Malcolm (Shameik Moore) is a ‘90-obsessed senior and self-proclaimed geek who’s bullied and ridiculed at his Inglewood, California, high school for his interest in, as he puts it, “white stuff” (i.e., skateboards, going to college, and Donald Glover). Malcolm and his friends — the butch Diggy (Kiersey Clemons) and the multiracial Jib (Tony Revolori of The Grand Budapest Hotel) — play in a band called Oreo and take style cues from old VHS tapes of Yo! MTV Raps. They’re focused on surviving school and getting out of their neighborhood (“the bottoms”) as their classmates get pulled into gangs and drug-dealing all around them. You have to peek around the plot to find the best parts of Dope, but they’re there, in the wit and virtuosity with which Famuyiwa sketches out a neighborhood and shows how it can feel like a home and a trap at the same time.

Obigatory I miss 90s Supermodels comment. I really do. They had perfect bodies and were sexy af. Not to mention they were hella charismatic and regal. If Cara's goofy faces and Kendall's lack of any facial expressions are seen as supermodels highest points, then I am ready for 90s to come back in FULL force and get rid of all this basic.

Leonardo diCaprio forbade his wife Rihanna to get a new tattoo

Leonardo diCaprio really, really loves Rihanna, and now according to RIHports, he forbade her to get another tattoo.

Rihanna showed her love for his new beau by promising to not get one for now. "Rihanna has always been the type of girl who does whatever she wants, when she wants. She wants a new tattoo on her body, but she's stuck because Leo asked her to promise him she won't let the needle touch her body until she falls in love again. She's a woman of her word and she's sticking to that," according to a close friend.

And Rihanna sees Leo as a new challenge, since Leo is definitely miles better than her previous lovers. "He wasn't possessive and that blew her mind. She thinks he's playing some type of mind game with her and she's intrigued by it. Rihanna loves a challenge, and he's unlike the dudes in her past, those were boys. This is Leo, he's something else. He's hitting all the right spots and I'm not talking between her legs. He's making her feel good and stimulating her on an entirely different level," the friend added.

Rihanna and Leo are clearly smitten with each other, as RIHports have said that she brought him to meet her family in Barbados. True love.

Elusive Chanteuse fires nanny since the twins allegedly like her best... nanny sues

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon currently have a lawsuit on their hands.

A former nanny of the couple's twins Moroccan and Monroe claims that she was fired because she showed the children too much affection. Nanny Simonette DaCosta took care of the twins when they were babies and was responsible fore pretty much everything including comforting them. Allegedly this led to the children preferring to be around DaCosta and Mariah became jealous.

DaCosta claims that Mariah eventually started to berate her whenever she showed affection to the kids and that she was forced to work overtime, that she wasn't paid for, before she was eventually fired.

She is currently suing both Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon for damages and back pay.

"I’m not who I was pretending to be" - Justin Bieber apologizes for past behaviors

V29A0848r

Justin Bieber just made a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show where he opened up about his recent troubles and apologized for his behaviors. These bad boy antics - in the last year alone, includes: underage drinking, drag racing, egging his neighbor's house, peeing in a restaurant mop bucket and abandoned a monkey in Germany.

The interview also showed the video he posted on Youtube which was basically a lengthy apology to his fans. He concluded by saying he now has a more positive outlook on life and hoping to change for the better.

“I just wanted to make a video because I wanted to express how I feel right now. Today, I was on Ellen and it was a lot of fun. She’s amazing, it was her birthday, but I was really nervous. I think I was nervous because I was afraid of what people are thinking about about me right now.

It’s been a minute since I’ve been in a public appearance, and I didn’t want to come off arrogant or conceited or basically how I’ve been acting the past year and a half,
I’m not who I was pretending to be.

Why I say I was ‘pretending’ is often we pretend to be something we’re not as a cover up of what we’re truly feeling inside. And there were a lot of feelings going on in there. Just being young and growing up in this business is hard. Just growing up in general is hard.”

I just felt awkward up there. I felt like people were judging me, and I really want people to know how much I care, how much I care about people, and how I’m not that person to say, ‘I don’t give a f*ck,’ you know? I’m not that kid. I’m a person who genuinely cares. And although what’s happened in the past has happened, I just want to make the best impression on people and be kind and loving and gentle and soft. And although people can call me a ‘softy,’ that’s how my mom raised me.”
