'Wonder Woman' doesn't actually have a script, release date, or greenlight

In an interview with New York Magazine, Wonder Woman director Michelle MacLaren revealed that the film isn't as far along as you might assume. According to MacLaren, the previously announced film doesn't yet have a script, a firm release date, or even an official green light from Warner Bros:

"I really, really, really can’t talk about this. I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?"

A Wonder Woman solo film was originally outlined as a priority area for Warner Bros at a shareholders meeting in October, with a tentative 2017 release date.

Bryan Konietzko: Korrasami is canon.

Bryan Konietzko, best known as the co-creator and executive producer of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, posted a letter on his tumblr about Korrasami.

Korrasami is canon.

You can celebrate it, embrace it, accept it, get over it, or whatever you feel the need to do, but there is no denying it. That is the official story. We received some wonderful press in the wake of the series finale at the end of last week, and just about every piece I read got it right: Korra and Asami fell in love. Were they friends? Yes, and they still are, but they also grew to have romantic feelings for each other.

ETA: Michael Dante DiMartino did the same:

Korrasami Confirmed

[...] Our intention with the last scene was to make it as clear as possible that yes, Korra and Asami have romantic feelings for each other. The moment where they enter the spirit portal symbolizes their evolution from being friends to being a couple. Many news outlets, bloggers, and fans picked up on this and didn’t find it ambiguous. For the most part, it seems like the point of the scene was understood and additional commentary wasn’t really needed from Bryan or me. But in case people were still questioning what happened in the last scene, I wanted to make a clear verbal statement to complement the show’s visual one. I get that not everyone will be happy with the way that the show ended. Rarely does a series finale of any show satisfy that show’s fans, so I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the positive articles and posts I’ve seen about Korra’s finale.

ONTD Original: Top 30 Celebrity Scandals of 2014

$

0

By boweeko and theglassprince

2014 was a huge year for celebrity scandals. It got our favs, our forgottens, it even got ONTD (but that's another story). So we couldn't pick just 10. We couldn't even pick just 20. So without further ado, here are the top 30 celebrity scandals of 2014!

30. Danielle Watts was arrested for having sex in public. Watts denied this and claimed she was being targeted because she was black, however photos later surfaced that seemed to give validity to the cops' story.

29. Madonna used the n-word on Instagram. When the usual "Brazil loves you!" comments were replaced with fans calling her out, Madonna promptly deleted the post and issued an apology – but the damage was already done.

28. Beyonce offended people multiple times with her new album, sampling the Challenger disaster on her song "XO" and referencing Ike Turner abusing Tina Turner on "Drunk In Love". People who hate Beyonce continued to bring it up in every post for the rest of the year.

27. A racist tweet from The Colbert Report ignited a backlash titled #cancelcolbert. The internet was inundated with experts on satire available to educate us all.

26. Former Disney Channel star Zac Efron was involved in a fight with a homeless man on Skid Row.  Zac took a punch to the mouth and TMZ reported that he was “heavily intoxicated".  Whatever the case may be, it is certain that Efron’s publicist got paid for overtime this year.

25. The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe entered a guilty plea in March for 41 counts of fraud. In October, Teresa was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison, and Joe received 41 months. The positive? Teresa and Joe received $325k from Bravo for appearing on Watch What Happens Live following their sentencing. Thanks AC!

24. Before there was Jazz Artiste Gaga, there was the Gaga that decided to film a video for a song with the lyrics "do what you want with my body" with an alleged sexual abuser (Terry Richardson) and an alleged child molester (R. Kelly). Some footage from the video was later leaked by TMZ and it was as desperate as people predicted.

23. When Scarlett Johansson became the spokesperson for Israeli-based SodaStream, critics pointed out that SodeStream is operating factories in the West Bank. Scarlett also was serving as ambassador for Oxfam International – a pro-Palestine organization. This conflict of interest led to Scarlett choosing that sweet, sweet SodaStream money over Oxfam.

22. Rob Ford's crazy crack case continued into 2014 with screencaps of the video being released, a second video revealed, and a trip to rehab.

21. Lena Dunham revealed that she molested her younger sister in her new memoir. She went onthe defensive and cancelled appearances on her book tour.

20. James Franco continued being James Franco by trying to hook up with a 17 yr old fan off Instagram.

19. Chris Brown was kicked out of a rehab facility after four months for having sex with another patient and sentenced to jail for 131 days. Brown was released less than a month later and placed on probation.

18. Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke claiming he raped her and was abusive towards her. Dr. Luke filed a counter-lawsuit. On a lighter note, she dropped the dollar sign from her name.

17. A video leaked of One Direction's Zayn and Louis smoking marijuana, discussing acquiring "chicken" which is slang for cocaine, and Louis calling someone the n-word. NSync would never.

16. In Februrary, Baltimore Ravens’ running back Ray Rice was charged with assault after a physical altercation with his then-fiancée Janay Palmer.  He was suspended for two games from the NFL while the criminal charges were dropped. However, everything changed in September when TMZ released the footage of Rice aggressively punching Janay in an elevator and dragging her unconscious body. Rice was suspended indefinitely and dropped from the Ravens, but was reinstated just a few weeks ago.

15. Shia LaBeouf had a bit of a rough year. Coming off the heels of his plagarism scandal of 2013, he showed up to a premiere wearing a paperbag that had "I am not famous anymore" written on it. Then he opened up an art installation entitled "#IAMSORRY" in which he say alone in a room wearing the paperbag and allowed visitors to come in one-on-one and hang out with him. A few months later, he got into a fight with a homeless man and tried to steal his sandwich (it must've been a Quiznos). Later that night he got arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for showing up drunk to a performance of Cabaret. He was shipped off to rehab for a few months and when he returned, he announced he had been raped at his "#IAMSORRY" exhibit.

14. Amanda Bynes is another former child star who had a rough year. After everything seemed okay for most of the year, she moved out of her parents' house in the Fall and the problems began again. There were reports of shoplifting and strange behavior. She was arrested for DUI for driving under the influence of adderall. She announced on Twitter that her father had molested her, then recanted and blamed it on the chip in her brain. She was taken to a psychiatric hospital on a 5150 hold, arranged by none other than Britney Spears' villain Sam Lutfi. She got out after a month although her parents controlled her finances. TMZ leaked audio of her talking about wanting to slit her father's wrists.

13. Jian Ghomeshi, the Canadian radio broadcaster of the CBC Radio One show Q, got his comeuppance in 2014. Early in the year, allegations of sexual assault floated about for engaging in non-consensual rough sex with an ex-girlfriend. In October, Ghomeshi showed his bosses at CBC videos and texts that were evidence of the graphic sexual assault, and his employment was terminated. Then the slew of allegations came in: 15 women and one man came forward, and Ghomeshi now faces charges on four counts of sexual assault and one count of overcoming resistance by choking. Yikes.

12. "7th Heaven" dad Stephen Collins was caught on tape confessing to molesting multiple girls. He's fired from "Ted 2", reruns of "7th Heaven" are temporarily halted, and there was even a suicide scare.

11. The child abuse allegations against Woody Allen resurfaced after Dylan Farrow wrote an open letter in the New York Times detailing the abuse at the hands of her her father. Various actors who have worked with Woody like Cate Blanchett and Scarlett Johansson commented.

10. Joan Rivers dies
Joan Rivers, one of the most famous female comics of all time, died on September 4, 2014 at the age of 81. On August 28, Joan suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest during a routine surgery on her vocal cords. She was placed on life support, but never was able to recover. Joan paved the way for many female comics today, but was most known recently for hosting E!’s Fashion Police. Joan style of humor made her a polarizing figure. While many ONTD users expressed heartfelt condolences at the news of her death, she was also presented with comments such as “K. i want M&Ms though” and “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEYONCE!!!” (and those are the tame ones).

9. Here comes Honey Boo Boo...'s mom's child molester boyfriend
Earlier this year, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" star Mama June split from her husband Sugar Bear. Not long after, TMZ reported that June’s new boyfriend was none other than Mark McDaniel – the newly-released-from-prison convicted sex offender who molested Honey Boo Boo’s sister Anna as a child. TMZ didn’t stop there though. They released picture after picture of June with McDaniel.  She even bought him a $30k car. Mama June denied the claims, but the evidence was overwhelming. In October, TLC cancelled "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and the entire new season’s worth of episodes will be left unaired.

8. Bill Cosby's rape allegations
J-E-L-L-O-4-0-4! This scandal is almost too crazy to even begin typing out. Although there have been accusations in the past of Bill Cosby committing rape and sexual assault, it wasn’t until late 2014 that the floodgates opened. As of December 2014, at least 27 women have come forward with allegations that Cosby drugged, raped, and sexually assaulted them between 1965 and 2004. Cosby has refused to publicly comment on the allegations, but that won’t be the case for long as lawsuits have been filed in court against Cosby. In the wake of all of this, NBC pulled the plug on Cosby’s new sitcom scheduled for 2015, Netflix canceled the Cosby stand-up comedy special it was planning to air, and TV Land pulled all re-runs of ‘The Cosby Show.’.

7. Donald Sterling's racist downfall
This former owner of the LA Clippers made some poor decisions this year. In April, TMZ released an audio recording between Sterling and V. Stiviano, a visor-wearing mysterious figure, in which Sterling made racist remarks such as “it bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people.” The fallout was about what you would expect: the Clippers and other NBA teams protested, fans were angry, and the NBA took aggressive action. Sterling was banned for life from the NBA and fined $2.5 million, and his wife Shelly negotiated a sale of the Clippers to Steve Ballmer for $2 billion. Bye bitch.

6. Justin Bieber's naughty year
Justin Bieber continued another year of misbehaving when in January he egged his neighbor's house. Something all kids do, right? Except he was forced to pay $80k in damages and was put on probation for two years. The feds raided his house which resulted in his BFF Lil Za getting arrested for cocaine possession. A few weeks later he was arrested for DUI, drag racing, and resisting arrest, although the charges were later dropped. In June two videos were leaked of Justin making a racist joke and singing a racist song. In July in Ibiza he got into a fight with Orlando Bloom, supposedly over Miranda Kerr. He was arrested again in an ATV incident in Canada. There was also that deposition videotape that gave us the profound and insightful quote "I think I was detrimental to my own career". I know a certain little boy who won't be getting a visit from Santa this year!

5. Solange attacks Jay-Z in an elevator
This is one of the craziest scandals of the 2014 and will go down in history, yet we still know so little about what actually happened between these members of the Royal Family of America. What do we know? In May of this year Bey, Jay, and Solange attended the Met Gala in NYC, and then went to an after party at the Standard Hotel. The good sis TMZ acquired some footage about a week later. After stepping into an elevator on the way out, Solange went berserk – screaming, attacking, kicking, and throwing punches at Jay. We have no clue as to what triggered the fight, but as we all know: of course sometime shit go down when it’s a billion dollars on an elevator.

4. Philip Seymour Hoffman dies of a drug overdose
In one of the year’s saddest and most shocking events, acclaimed actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment on February 2, 2014 at the age of 46. During a search of the apartment and subsequent investigation, his death was ruled as a drug overdose of heroin, cocaine, benzodiazepines and amphetamine. Hoffman was a celebrated Hollywood actor, appearing in over 50 films and winning countless awards during his life – including an Academy Award for Best Actor for Capote in 2005.

3. Robin Williams commits suicide
Everyone was shocked when on August 11, 2014 at the age of 63, comedian and actor Robin Williams committed suicide. He was found inside his California home after he hanged himself with a belt. Williams long battled depression, underwent a stay in rehab a month prior, and had recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. After his death, his daughter Zelda was run off Twitter by cyberbullies. There was an outpouring of grief and people paid tribute to Williams with his famous "O Captain! My Captain!" scene from "Dead Poet's Society".

2. The Fappening
You know 2014 must have been crazy if this isn’t even the top story of the year. Beginning August 31, 2014, nearly 500 photos of various celebrities (like 99.99% women) were posted on cesspool sites such as 4chan and Reddit. The photos were stolen from the celebs’ iCloud accounts due to an exposed security breach. Some of the celebs who were targeted? Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kirsten Dunst, Kaley Cuoco, Victoria Justice, Ariana Grande, and an underage McKayla Maroney. While the 4chan/Reddit communities continued to post and share the pictures (as did other blogs/gossip sites), there were many outspoken celebs against the hacks. It was a huge invasion of privacy, and the FBI and Apple launched investigations into the matter. The damage was done however, and like it or not – JLaw’s privates were plastered over the internet.

1. North Korea hacks Sony and halts release of "The Interview"
The biggest scandal of the year is one that's still developing. A month ago, Sony was hacked by a group who call themselves "Guardians of Peace". They released a steady flow of information including employees' social security numbers, hoards of private e-mails, and DVD-quality screeners of films that haven't even yet his theaters including "Annie" and "Fury". The e-mails revealed that Sony honchos Amy Pascal and Scott Rudin are basically incompetent, unprofessional children prone to temper tantrums. A series of emails focused on fights over the production of films "Cleopatra" and "Jobs", wherein Scott Rudin called Angelina Jolie a "minimally talented spoiled brat". Things took a dark turn however when the hackers threatened to invoke 9/11 on any theaters that dared to show the new film "The Interview", a comedy in which Seth Rogen and James Franco assassinate the leader of North Korea, Kim Johg-Un. Theaters began dropping the movie before Sony finally announced they won't be releasing it. At the same time, the US government announced North Korea was indeed behind it all, turning this into a real life Seth Rogen/James Franco movie. Crusadors of free speech fought for their cause against crusadors of anti-racism in a series of messy posts on ONTD. Will this be the beginning of World War 3? Only time will tell.

Honorable mentions:
-Bryan Singer's sexual abuse scandal (I'm a flop and forgot about this so squeezing it in here for now)
-Selena Gomez revealed she went to rehab earlier this year

This post was a collaboration between boweeko and I. Some of the original ONTD posts were deleted so other posts were substituted as links. Scandals were ranked according to attention from media, general population, as well as ONTD. LJ Visual Editor is my new arch enemy.

Radio 4 broadcast adaptation of Pratchett and Gaiman's "Good Omens" for Christmas week

Gaiman and Pratchett's tale about an angel and a demon who join forces in order to ward off the apocalypse has been adapted into a six-part Radio drama.

Following the success of Gaiman's Neverwhere in 2013, a new radio adaptation brings to life their parodic and blackly comic novel.

Gaiman praised Peter Serafinowicz (Crowley) and Mark Heap (Aziraphale) for embodying and bringing to life the essence of their characters, and for the chemistry they created in playing against one another.

He described the production as "magical",  and credited the freedom granted by the radio medium for bringing the story to life. "Even in a modern world where you have the magical power of unlimited special effects, it is so much easier to set fire to a 1926 Bentley and send it shooting through the air on radio. We got to do some rather remarkable things".

Neil felt that the time was right to dramatise "Good Omes", as he wanted Terry to still be able to enjoy it. (Pratchett has a form of Alzheimer's).

“And it was this very strange, sad, sweet, funny, odd moment, as the two of us sat in the car with Dirk's lines inspired by a line that one of us had written 26 years earlier. With me saying my line first and then Terry's line. And then Terry echoing his lines. It was a little moment for me and Terry. I don't know if we're acting terribly well, but it's a moment that made me extra happy.”
