Days Of Our Lives Star Kate Mansi Chats About Abigail’s Affair With EJ Being Exposed!!!!!!!!!!!!

The jig is up for Abigail, as Sami is closing in on her prey! That’s right! Sami has known for quite some time that Abigail and EJ slept together. All of that awkward kindness Sami extended towards Abigail when planning her wedding to EJ was all part of Sami’s master plan! How will Abby deal with the revelation that Sami knows what she has done?

Sami is out for revenge! How bad are things going to get?

KATE: It’s bad. It gets bad before it gets better. It’s funny, because through the whole thing she is trying to keep her wits about her, and it’s really difficult, because she has a loyalty to her family. She is trying to get grounded and find herself and take responsibility for it and move forward. But then Sami somehow wanted Abigail to help plan her wedding and be involved heavily in it. Sami feels that Abigail is a kindred spirit girl friend, and EJ is sort of manipulating her into going along with everything. Abigail just wants it to be over. She is thinking, “I can’t really come out with it and so now it’s weighing heavily on me. I just want it to be tied up in a bow.” But, she has no idea what Sami has in store for her!

So Abigail just wants her affair with EJ to be over with?

KATE: Well sort of, but I think she does want EJ … and it’s not over. That kind of chemistry lives on, and is always there, and present for you. You tell yourself whatever you can to be able to move on, even though circumstances can keep you apart. EJ married someone else and it’s crushing her. But what she has to tell herself to get through it is, “It’s not right …”

Where you sad when you found out James Scott was leaving the show? Or, did you know about it ahead of time?

KATE: I did know about it for awhile. James pulled me aside in my dressing room and told me. I feel really privileged to have worked with him towards the end of his run. We both felt like we left it all out there, and it was great.

Y&R’s Joshua Morrow Names His Top Five Nick Newman Moments!

Not possible! It's been 20 years since Joshua Morrow joined CBS's The Young and the Restless as Nicholas Newman, the suddenly sprouted, wondrously hunky son of the nefarious Victor and his drama queen Nikki. "Man, this anniversary really makes me feel old but also very grateful," Morrow says. "This is the best job in the world and, second to my children, my proudest accomplishment. I hope to do it as long as CBS and Sony and the fans will have me. It's the ride of a lifetime."

TV Guide Magazine sat down for a gab session with Morrow to go over his picks for the five most memorable, perfectly Nick-tastic scenes ever. Make sure to check out the clips!

Nick Returns to Genoa City (June 21, 1994)

First things first: We gotta talk about that fishnet shirt! "I can't blame it on Y&R," Morrow says with a laugh. "When I got the job, I had no TV experience and was still living at home with my mom. I didn't know anything. I went into the wardrobe department and had this 'Pretty Woman' moment where they rolled out racks of clothes and said, 'Pick.' And so I did. What was I thinking? I guess seeing a little skin through the gear back then was considered funky. Wear that shirt to a restaurant now and you'll get thrown out on the street." Morrow's first scenes as the fresh-from-boarding-school Nick were with his TV sis Heather Tom. "I was so nervous and absolutely certain the producers were thinking they'd made a terrible mistake by hiring me. But Heather couldn't have been cooler or more professional. She held my hand through it all." And things came off without a hitch. "I started shooting at 7 am and was done for the day half an hour later," he says. "I got in my little Isuzu pickup and was back home before my mom and stepdad had left for work. They were, like, 'What happened? Did you get fired?'"

Nick Goes to Prison (January 10, 1996)

When Nick was wrongly convicted of shooting Matt Clark, he found himself behind bars with creepy badass Larry Warton, who seemed intent on making Nick his little prison bitch. "We liked to call it 'Pretty Boy Prison' because everyone — even the extras — were really good looking and in great shape," says Morrow. "Their clothes were never dirty. We all just stood around folding laundry all day. It was a very interesting place — and that Larry definitely had some 'ulterior motives' where Nick was concerned." Forget Shick and Phick! If Victor hadn't shown up at the prison in time to head-butt Larry, the next daytime supercouple might have been Lick!

Nick and Victor Visit Albert (November 21, 2003)

Oscar winner George Kennedy made a memorable guest appearance on Y&R as Victor's deranged, abusive father, Albert. "I was so honored that they allowed me to be in those scenes because it so easily could have just been the two of them," Morrow says. "I will always get to say I worked with George Kennedy and that means a lot to me. To watch him and Eric Braeden go at it was the greatest experience. I remember thinking, 'I never want this to end. Could we do six or seven more takes?'" Victor's meltdown after the faceoff was a profound moment for Morrow's character. "At the time, Nick didn't want to be around Victor but it killed him to witness his dad — the great alpha male — so broken and vulnerable. Nick's not a mean idiot. Seeing Victor sob like that made him realize family is everything and he knew he had to fix things between them. That scene started the rebound in their relationship."

Nick and Sharon Leap From a Plane (August 11, 2004)

"Who knew private planes just happen to carry three parachutes?" says Morrow. "Where were they hidden...under the peanuts?" This wacky setup finds Nick sneaking aboard a mini jet to rescue his wife, Sharon, from her kidnapper, Cameron. Nick needs Cameron alive to clear Sharon of criminal charges, so he straps them both into parachutes and shoves them out the exit door while the plane is mid-air — but not before laying a swoony lip lock on his gal. "I love that Nick beats the crap out of Cameron and calls him a 'bitch' which I'm not sure was scripted — it might have been the passion of the moment," Morrow says. Alas, we never got to see Nick take the leap. "They cut my falling shot because they claimed I was smiling the whole time. [The episode's director] Mike Denney said, 'You looked like you were having fun.' I said, 'I was having fun. That was a blast!' And Mike goes, "Well, sorry, it looked like so much fun we can't use it."

Nick and Sharon Say Goodbye to Cassie (May 23, 2005)

The car crash-related death of Nick and Sharon's teen daughter Cassie did not go over well with the viewers — in fact, they're still crabbing about it — but it sure made great TV. "It remains one of the saddest things I've ever witnessed in my life," Morrow says. "I was in shock when I found out what the writers were going to do, and really angry. Cassie was such a beloved character and I couldn't believe they wanted to kill her off. We were as livid as the fans." When the scenes were taped, Morrow wasn't yet a father in real life. "If I had been a dad back then, I think it would have slaughtered me," he says. "I didn't have the foresight to see what that decision would do for our show as we moved forward, how it would lead to some really emotional, gripping stuff that is still playing out today with [Cassie lookalike] Mariah. It's not something I look back on fondly, but I do respect the choice. And, I have to admit, it's one of the best stories we've ever told."

DAYS Alison Sweeney Joins General Hospital!

Can you imagine having the heavy hitter A-list cast of General Hospital, being directed by another soap superstar, Alison Sweeney behind-the-camera? Well that has been the rumors that have been floating about, and now look to be apparently true!

Alison, the very popular long-running star of NBC’s Days of our Lives where she played Sami Brady for almost 22 years, left the show back in May. Now comes word that amongst motherhood, hosting the Biggest Loser, and being an author (her latest novel Scared Scriptless is out now), she can add daytime director for ABC to her resume.

Sweeney who had previously directed some episodes at Days of our Lives will be directing episodes for GH in the future. In her tweet, when asked if she was indeed set to direct in Port Charles, Ali tweeted: “Super psyched. Working on the scripts right now.”

In addition, GH EP Frank Valentini told Soap Opera Digest that after Sweeney observed his directing team that he asked her to come on board! “She’s sort of paid her dues and spent some time learning the show,” so when an opening presented itself, “I asked her if she was available and she said yes.” Sweeney will direct her first episode this month!

But can you imagine if Sweeney at one point would decide to step in front of the camera at GH too? Giving executive producer Frank Valentini the likes of Michelle Stafford (Nina), Maura West (Ava), Alison Sweeney, Laura Wright (Carly), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), Jane Elliot (Tracy) all on one show?

Scott Elrod To The Young and the Restless As Avery’s Ex-Husband!

It's a recipe for disaster! Heartthrob Scott Elrod is heading to CBS's The Young and the Restless in the contract role of Joe Clark, the ex-husband of Julia Child wannabe Avery Clark (Jessica Collins). As fans know, the marriage went south when Avery began her affair with war vet Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton), but she has always felt guilty for betraying her husband and has privately hoped he's found happiness.

But what are the chances of that? According to a show rep, "Viewers can expect Joe to have more than a few tricks up his sleeve as he crosses paths with several key Y&R characters." Look for Elrod to hit the air in early October.

Elrod's film credits include Lone Survivor and the 2012 Best Picture Oscar winner Argo. Fans of the ABC romantic comedy series Men in Trees will remember him as Cash, the sexy, free-spirited handyman who went to work for Marin (Anne Heche) and repaired much more than her rundown mountain cabin. The big question: Which Genoa City gal will benefit from Joe's handiwork?

Kirsten Storms & Brandon Barash with Baby Harper Visit Soap Box!

In a oh-so-cute and endearing interview today, real life lovebirds General Hospital’s Kirsten Storms (Maxie) and former GH star, Brandon Barash (Ex-Johnny) along with their baby daughter, Harper were the very special guests on TRadiov’s Soap Box with Martha Madison and Lilly Melgar!

During the episode, Kirsten and Brandon discussed how their relationship began as friends and blossomed into a romance when the timing was right for both of them after both finding themselves single at the same time. They also discussed how they take turns with baby duties in taking care of Harper, and that one of the things they love about each other is they laugh a lot together and have a good time!

Later, Brandon discussed how he became involved with Muscular Dystrophy Association as a National Celebrity Ambassador. And the duo reveal they were home watching the recent Daytime Emmys and what a train wreck of a red carpet presentation they thought it was when watching the four millennial social media hosts attempt to interview the soap stars. Brandon’s comments certainly hit home, and all of us without question, would agree upon!

GH’s Jason Thompson Pops The Question To Paloma And They’re Engaged!

General Hospital’s four-time Daytime Emmy nominee Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake) posted a beautiful picture this morning via his Instagram account! Thompson popped the question to long-time girlfriend Paloma Jonas and the couple is now officially engaged!

Thompson posted along with the photo: "An ocean beneath us, an endless sky in front of us, I asked her and she said YES!" The popular GH leading man and Paloma were vacationing in Mexico all of last week.

Has Y&R Cast Mariah's Mom?

Karina Logue has been cast as Helen Copeland on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, and will first air on Thursday, August 14. The actress has appeared in several TV series, including SONS OF ANARCHY (starring her brother, Donal Logue), CSI: NY, BONES, TRUE BLOOD, NCIS and ARMY WIVES, and films such as Argo, Zodiac and When A Stranger Calls.

Details about her character are being kept under wraps, but seeing as how she shares a last name with Mariah, there's obviously some kind of connection there, and the soap has confirmed that Logue will first appear in scenes with Joshua Morrow's Nick.

The casting notice describes Helen as a trained nurse who was in and out of jobs, and she was a young mother... but an unwilling parent.

DAYS Kristian Alfonso Chats On Upcoming Scenes That Help Resolve Bo & Hope!

Kristian Alfonso (Hope) has been one of the leading ladies of NBC’s Days of our Lives for decades! Recently, Hope has been back in police mode, being a single mother, and clearly falling for a new man in her life, Aiden played by soap veteran Daniel Cosgrove. After years as being part of one of soap opera’s all-time super couples Bo and Hope … how does the character move on? How do the fans move on? This has been the plight the DAYS writing team have found themselves in, as well as Alfonso, since the departure of Peter Reckell as Bo Brady, who last aired at the end of October of 2012.

On-Air On-Soaps caught up with the Kristian at the recent Daytime Emmy Nominee Reception where she was on hand to support her peers and her cast mates from DAYS to get her thoughts on a few subjects: Her touching scenes where Hope says goodbye to a lifeless Nick, how she is creating new on-screen chemistry with Daniel Cosgrove, and if the soap will finally, once and for all, seal the fate of Bo and Hope… since for all intent and purposes there has been no change on the horizon of a return by Reckell. Here is what Kristian shared!

One of the best performances I have ever seen you give was in the episode that aired recently where Hope is crying over Nick’s (Blake Berris) dead body in the morgue! I think you deserved some additional kudos for that … it was heartbreaking! Do you remember shooting that scene and what was going through your mind at the time?

KRISTIAN: I do remember doing that. It was very hard to deal with that as it was shot at the very end of the day, and it was like the directors were yelling, “Go! Stand here … and do it!” I was crying so much, and trying to remember where I was coming from and trying to hold everything together. I think that was for Hope the resolve that: I have failed you. I am devastated, and am so guilty, and you deserved so much better then what I gave you. And the sad part for her is that Nick really wanted to make a change, and I think Hope carries that with her, absolutely. The tears and the loss was just tremendous for her.

So what has been like playing opposite Daniel Cosgrove (Aiden), as Hope’s new love interest?

KRISTIAN: Daniel is very sweet man. He is very funny, and he wants to work hard, and I love that about him. He is a family guy who adores his wife and his children. He has three girls that are all ballerinas and he has a little boy named Fin. So he is traipsing back and forth from the east coast all the time and commuting right now.

People are still screaming: “Bring back Bo! Why aren’t they doing everything to get him back on the show?”

KRISTIAN: … Because Peter Reckell (Ex-Bo) doesn’t want to come back. So it’s confusing for the fans, because then he tweets out something different.

They have got to do really do something about this on-screen already, because it still giving fans an expectation that Hope and Bo will be reunited!

KRISTIAN: They have done something about it. We’ve done it and we’ve shot it. Hopefully it will be great, and what I love in the casting of Daniel Cosgrove is that he is so opposite of Bo. We will see where it goes. I love the fans and their support has been absolutely incredible. I was reading some tweets recently and they were saying, “Hope and Aiden aren’t even together yet, and I want them together!” And that is fantastic! The writers have done an incredible job. It was frustrating for me at the beginning, but I really truly appreciate and totally understand why they paced everything out, because now Hope would have the opportunity to be a single mother going through all of that, and trying to juggle all of that, which also involves the whole thing that happened with Nick. She is trying to tend to everyone, but the only one she is not tending to is herself. I love where they started with Aiden and Hope being so combative, but I got to tell you, I love where they are going with the story, and I could not be happier.

GH Star Laura Wright Teams Up With ASPCA For 'We-Care' Campaign!

In 2008, Brooks launched the Web site www.AuditionsLA.com (now defunct) with friend Beth Maitland (Y&R's Traci Abbott). The site told budding actors how to succeed at auditions, as well as what to expect in the industry.

Maite Perroni Records New Song For La Gata!

Although it may seem Maite Perroni's character on La Gata is always in tattered clothing, the new opening credits give a better look into what's to come.

The less than two-minute video features Maite Perroni singing, and it gives a better insight into what she deals with in her life as Esmeralda. Most of it is set in Xochiaca, the largest dump in Mexico City, where Esmeralda lives and works.

She sorts through the garbage and seems to find some gems once in a while.

There are plenty of scenes between herself and Daniel Arenas, who plays Pablo Martínez Negrete. It's not easy to make out how their relationship grows, but it's obvious that they hit their high and low points. Esmeralda may even break up Pablo's wedding to someone else.

At one point, Perroni is seen carrying babies, and then in another scene, she uses a stroller and arrives at Pablo's home. Eventually, Esmeralda becomes a sophisticated woman, and her clothing reflects the changes that have taken place. Still, she'll remain the same. Her clothes, for example, continue to be black.

She also continues to have her black cat with her. The opening credit is enough of a look into the story, without revealing the many twists and turns that are likely to come.

Perroni also recently took some time off her hit telenovela to record a new song with Spanish singer Alex Ubago, notes TV Notas.

The song, Todo Lo Que Soy, will be used for the telenovela as well. "It's a song that will accompany Pablo and me in all our romantic scenes," she said. "It's going to become the song for the couple."

While Perroni continues to work on her telenovela, she also has new album to be excited about. Eclipse de Luna will be released on July 12.

#ThisIsTheRealHarry: Directioners defend Harry Styles after he's accused of supporting Israel

$

Again the Directioners are up in arms on social media to defend one of their idols. This time, it's Harry Styles who is caught in the thick of it, and as usual, One Direction's fans have rallied to support him and show the world that the singer is a good person, under the hashtag #ThisIsTheRealHarry.

Apparently, say several tweets, the defensive tweets come from accusations that singer supports Israel--all because some fan during one of his concerts passed him an inflatable hammer with a drawing of the Star of David, representing the country's flag.

Styles took the hammer and waved it around, which sparked controversy all across social media.

After seeing the negative reaction, Directioners immediately came to his defense, wanting to show the world all the good deeds Styles has done as part of One Direction.

It seems that the singer should have been more informed of the message he might be giving by waving the hammer, especially in light of the recent violence in Gaza between Israel and Palestine. Perhaps he was unaware that his actions could be misinterpreted, since he has always been shown to be friendly and supportive of all cultures.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 5 'Cry Wolf' Review: "A Satisfying Ending"

$
0
0

Cry Wolf picks up immediately after In Sheep's Clothing's conclusion -- in the inner sanctum of The Crooked Man behind the curtain. The same Crooked Man who seemingly set all of the events of Wolf in motion, and who we only got a mere glimpse of in the penultimate episode. The good news is -- you don't have to wait long for revelations. In fact, some secrets are immediately revealed, setting the tone for a rather fast-paced episode that doesn't screw around or waste time.

The rest of the dark realizations will unfold over the course of the tale, but the pacing is pretty spot-on throughout, sprinkling a good amount of action scenes on top of confrontations and a few inquisitions. Fans who enjoyed the pure detective elements might be a little disappointed until the very end, but this is a finale after all, and there is a lot that's expected in terms of excitement -- which it delivers.

Unlike some scenes in past episodes, every event in Cry Wolf has a point to it, whether it's to contribute to the overall plot, give us some character development, or deliver some plain old fun. There's hardly any downtime -- hardly any time to catch your breath from the get-go.

One boss fight in particular is a very fun battle that's unlike anything in the collective of episodes so far -- it also happen to feature one of the most terrifying and unique character designs Telltale has dreamed up to date. The action has always ramped up in terms of showing off Bigby's abilities, and this one blows the roof off. Cry Wolf's diverse feel is also accentuated by a chase scene that's unlike anything we've seen so far.

Also, the time is over for choices that "may or may" not influence something later. Although you still have your "[x] will remember that" prompts even near the end just for impact, said impact happens immediately, and there's no wondering or hoping that your choice will matter somewhere down the line. In terms of past choices finding a way back to the finale -- they do pop up in a satisfying way, but don't expect too much in terms of actually overhauling the episode's final moments.

The real question for any finale is -- "is it satisfying?" -- and I think Cry Wolf passes that test. It gives us a good villain worth confronting, an incredibly tense final set of choices, and a narrative that wraps everything up nicely. Some of your favorite characters might not get more fanfare than others, but there's at least a nod to the supporting cast. Although I would have liked to have seen a little more from a few people in particular, I wasn't disappointed by what I was shown.

I don't want more Wolf Among Us -- I need more. It delivers a tone unlike anything Telltale has given us before, and really shows us how they've matured as a studio. The series has also influenced me to read Fables, the source material for Bigby's adventure, just so I can pass the time and hold out hope for a season two. If you're listening, Telltale, find a way.

Steven Spielberg Slammed Online For 'Killing' Triceratops

A photograph of Steven Spielberg as been blasted on the internet for killing a dinosaur.

The director posed with one of the props from his 1993 dinosaur flick Jurassic Park when he filmed the movie, and after Jay Branscomb posted the image on his Facebook page with the caption, "Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man," those not paying attention to the details became livid and posted some nasty comments.

"Steven Spielberg has absolutely no respect for animals," said one commenter. "Posing in front of this poor dead animal like that. Barbaric."

In fact, so many people failed to see the sarcasm of the post, that it's now made national headlines.

Branscomb's image was posted just days after 19-year-old Texas native Kendall Jones shared images of herself with several of her big game kills while on safari in Africa, prompting death threats.

Check out this doozy...

"He's a disgusting inhumane p***k," said one commenter. "I'd love to see these hunters be stopped. I think zoos are the best way to keep these innocent animals safe... a*****es like this piece of s**t are going into these beautiful animals HOME and killing them.

"It's no different than someone coming into your home and murdering you."

That commenter goes on to say that people who hunt are "undeucated" and justify hunting big game (like a triceratops) as thinning out overpopulation.

"Steven Spielberg I'm disappointed in you," she sadds, "I'm not watching any of your movies again ANIMAL KILLER."

For the record, the triceratops in the photo with the director is an animatronic prop, and if you've seen the movie -- it wasn't dead!

Branscomb later posted an image of Spielberg sitting atop the shark from "Jaws" and writing a similar comment to see if he could fool people twice.

The end of her marriage was plagued by infidelity rumours.

And now Khloe Kardashian has confessed that her ex-husband Lamar Odom not only cheated on her while they were married, but she lied to cover for him.

In a new preview for Keeping Up With The Kardashians the 30-year-old reveals that the sports star was with another woman on her birthday last year and she lied to her family about it.

The clip opens with Khloe cleaning out the Tarzana home she shared with the 34-year-old basketball player as she talks candidly with her sister Kourtney.

'Lamar is doing all this press because he is on a new team,' the youngest Kardashian sister explains. 'But what he is saying is just not true. Saying that he talks to me everyday and that we are working things out.'

'But I haven't been able to reach him for months,' she confesses before admitting, 'And it almost gets my hopes up.'

After sharing this vulnerable emotional truth, she turns to rage: 'He's wearing his ring full time. F*** your ring, you were wearing it when you were f****** someone else too!'

'The way I was living was not a way to live,' she admits. 'Everything I did I had to hide or conceal or cover up.'

As Khloe unloads, Kourtney, 35, simply listens intently - clearly trying to offer support to her younger sibling.

Then Khloe makes the biggest confession of all: 'Let me tell you something. Last year on my birthday I lied to everyone.'

'Because I had to lie and say I was with my husband,' she shouts. 'When in fact my husband was missing with another girl. Okay?

'And I lied and I gave up my Beyonce tickets. That's how badly I was hiding.'

She breaks down, saying: 'And I didn't have a birthday. I was alone and lied to everyone.'

Khloe and Lamar tied the knot in 2009. Khloe then filed for divorce in December 2013 amid rumours that her estranged husband was not only cheating on her but abusing drugs.

She is currently dating rapper French Montana.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians airs on Sundays at 9pm on E!

Fall TV First Impression: NBC's State of Affairs + Katherine Heigl is a big draw for Advertisers

THE SHOW | NBC’s State of Affairs (Mondays at 10/9c, premiering Nov. 17)

THE CAST | Katherine Heigl (Grey’s Anatomy), Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives), Adam Kaufman (Without a Trace), Leslie Odom, Jr. (Person of Interest), Sheila Vand (Cult), Cliff Chamberlain (The Mob Doctor) and Tommy Savas (The Last Ship)

THE SET-UP | Meet CIA analyst Charleston Tucker (Heigl), the recipient of one of the most unflattering TV character introductions in a while. See, “Charlie” was engaged to the president’s son at the time he was killed during a terrorist attack. Now, she soothes her pain with drinking, random hook-ups, fruitless shrink sessions and the crooning of/shimmying to pop tunes while compiling the CIA’s daily briefing for POTUS (Woodard).

THE FIRST IMPRESSION | There’s a compelling-enough series here somewhere, as evidenced once Woodard shows up. But up until then, far too great of lengths are gone to prove to us what a wild card Charlie is, including the arrival of a new yet conspicuously “old” hire (Kaufman) who in the pilot is mainly on hand to register shock at her bold behavior. Once intros are out of the way and the plot takes hold — ultimately, Charlie is forced to make a difficult (and rather incredible) call — State of Affairs becomes a drama I could like, though that just might be my well-chronicled blind love for anything D.C.-related speaking. For arguably good measure, the pilot plants the seed for a serialized mystery element.

Heigl (also an executive producer) is served best when Charlie talks smart versus snide
, but the consensus here at TVLine is that her wardrobe is frankly a bit too much, whether she’s arriving for work at 2 am in jeans and stilettos or hours later clambering onto the back of a truck in a high-end dress. In addition to the wonderful Woodard, there are some nice picks among the supporting cast/guest stars, including Odom Jr. as the White House Chief of Staff, TV vet Dennis Boutsikaris playing a slithery CIA Director and James Remar (Dexter) popping up as an industrious ally of Charlie’s.

THE TVLINE BOTTOM LINE | Seeing as it is claiming The Blacklist‘s time slot (when the James Spader heads into hiatus before moving to Thursdays in February), State of Affairs will be subject to much scrutiny, from viewers and critics. The Heigl Comeback factor should draw some solid sampling/lookee-loos, but stronger subsequent episodes are needed to secure any longevity.

Advertisers Wager NBC’s Katherine Heigl Drama Will Lead Freshman Scripted Series in New TV Season. Katherine Heigl may be a polarizing figure in some circles, but advertisers seem to like her just fine.

A Variety survey of commercial-ratings projections from four major ad buyers finds that NBC’s new drama “State of Affairs” featuring the actress is expected to generate the most commercial viewership among freshman scripted programs in the 2014-15 season in viewers between 18 and 49, the demographic most coveted by advertisers. Only CBS’ “NFL Thursday Night” broadcasts are expected to garner more “C3” ratings, or views of commercials that accompany programs up to three days after they air.

The measure has been the bedrock of how advertisers pay TV networks for commercial time since 2007, as opposed to the more commonly known program ratings.

Ad buyers are also banking on Shonda Rhimes. Her new Thursday-night ABC drama, “How to Get Away With Murder,” is seen as the freshman show with the third-largest “C3” audience, according to the Variety survey.

The comedy with the most potential is Fox’s Sunday-night entry “Mulaney,” featuring comic writer John Mulaney. The show is executive produced by Lorne Michaels.

Variety’s list of the projected top freshman programs for “C3” in the 2014-15 season follows below (Nielsen estimated a single ratings point in the 2013-14 season was equivalent to about 1,269.600, and is expected to revise its estimates upward for the next season):

1) “NFL Thursday Night,” Thursday CBS 4.62
2) “State of Affairs,” Monday, NBC 2.51
3) “How to Get Away With Murder,” Thursday ABC 2.36
4) “Mulaney,” Sunday, Fox 1.99
5) “Gotham,” Monday, Fox 1.93
6) “NCIS: New Orleans,” Tuesday, CBS 1.92
7) “One Big Happy,” Tuesday NBC 1.77
8) “Marry Me,” Tuesday, NBC 1.7
9) “Black-ish,” Wednesday, ABC 1.74
10) “Allegiance,” Thursday NBC 1.73

This is why Selena Gomez is more than her past relationship!

We Selenators look out for each other. So when we noticed that Selena Gomez was throwing out a few signs that she might be going through some stuff, we wanted to jump right there by her side.
You know, whether her vague quotes were about her ex doesn’t matter. The fact is, Selenators are family, and when she speaks to us, we speak back.
Earlier this week, she reached out directly to fans on Instagram. “You’re always listened to,” she wrote on one pic, continuing on another, “And usually always right.”
Selenators, whether they supported Jelena or not, just want her to be happy. But many (media like us are to blame) are pegging Selena’s every move to her ex's photos with a new girl. Selena posts pics with friends? It must be because she’s trying to forget him. Selena posts picture of ocean? She must be contemplating her lost relationship. Oh, she’s hanging out with other people? She trying to make him jealous. She’s wearing a bikini? Definitely trying to make him jealous. And that quote she put up? That must be her sending shade to him.
Not to mention this article that claims they’re “officially engaged” in a rebound dating duel.
Let’s stop reading into Selena’s life through a Justin Bieber lens. Let’s just see Selena for Selena.
While the couple took a weird, meandering, on-again-off-again turn, she admitted on Instagram that she always knew how it would end up. So right now, let’s just work on happiness. For you, Selena, and for all of us.

Hellboy III Would Happen, Except Hollywood Won't Give Guillermo Del Toro Any Money

$

The Hellboy series is one of those franchises that's never really attracted mainstream attention. The film did just well enough to get a sequel, and that sequel did just well enough to make people hope for more. Much like Pacific Rim, audiences want a sequel and Guillermo del Toro would be happy to oblige. There's just one 2000 lb kaiju in the room preventing any forward movement: the studios won't pony up the dough to make a Hellboy 3.

During his Reddit AMA this afternoon, del Toro was asked the inevitable Hellboy 3 question. Namely "why in the hell do we not have a Hellboy 3 to look forward to?" His answer was as obvious as the question itself, as he said:

Creatively, I would love to make it. Creatively. But it is proven almost impossible to finance. Not from MY side, but from the studio side. If I was a multimillionaire, I would finance it myself, but I spend all my money on rubber monsters.

Both Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman have made themselves rather outspoken on the subject of their mutual desire to make a Hellboy 3 to cap off the series. Anytime the subject comes up, both of them light up with the possibilities of finishing what they started back in 2004 with Hellboy. In fact, del Toro credits the fact that Hellboy II: The Golden Army was even made to the huge showing the film had in its home video incarnation, something it too would replicate in its eventual DVD release. Unfortunately, the market has evolved into one where that just doesn't cut it anymore, or at least Mr. del Toro believes so.

So what was Hellboy 3 going to be about? Guillermo del Toro was nice enough to share the plan he's probably had stored in his mind ever since Hellboy II: The Golden Army wrapped:

The idea for it was to have Hellboy finally come to terms with the fact that his destiny, his inevitable destiny, is to become the beast of the Apocalypse, and having him and Liz face the sort of, that part of his nature, and he has to do it, in order to be able to ironically vanquish the foe that he has to face in the 3rd film. He has to become the best of the Apocalypse to be able to defend humanity, but at the same time he becomes a much darker being. It's a very interesting ending to the series, but I don't think it will happen.

So we have Guillermo del Toro really wanting to make Hellboy III, we have Ron Perlman ready to don the Hellboy makeup at a moments notice, and we've got a fandom ready to receive the film as their very own. And yet, no studio will cough up the cash to make this obviously wanted sequel. Which begs the question, if the studio doesn't do it, who will?

For now, it looks like no one will be making Hellboy III a reality. It's a sad fact, but looking at the box office strength of the last two films, it's not exactly a sure thing, even if the goal was to break even. But hey, at least we've got a Pacific Rim sequel coming soon. That's got to be worth something, right?

Guillermo del Toro will be in our faces with The Strain this Sunday on FX, as well as with Crimson Peak next October. But honestly, that's not enough! We want Hellboy III. Luckily, we have some ideas for how that could happen.

So there's one of two ways Hellboy III could find its funding, and both are going to need the help of us – the fans. The first, and more traditional way that Guillermo del Toro could get this dream project made is through some rangling involving Pacific Rim 2. Since the project is in early days yet, there's bound to be a lot of paperwork that needs to be filed in the near future. Which is the perfect time to sneak in a performance clause that would automatically trigger the production of Hellboy III if Pacific Rim 2 reaches a certain level of profit. This helps Universal and Legendary to motivate the fan base to see Pacific Rim 2, so that way they can come back two years later to see the next Hellboy flick.

However, if Universal and Legendary won't play ball with funding the production, then Guillermo del Toro can make a deal similar to the deal Kevin Smith could make himself in order to ensure Clerks III: have the studio pay for distribution of Hellboy III and turn to crowdsourced funding in order to get the funds needed to produce the film. Several fans mentioned this as their first suggestion in the AMA, so it only makes sense that Hellboy III be given a chance to make its money the new fashioned way.

Bottom line: if we fans want to see Hellboy III, it looks like we're going to start saving those pennies for Uncle Guillermo.

Gina Glocksen has her own little idol!

The American Idol alum welcomed her first child with husband Joe Ruzicka on Thursday, July 10, PEOPLE confirms.

Born in Chicago, daughter Daenerys Josephine arrived at 7:47 a.m. The couple plan to call her Dany.

It’s been a month full of celebration for Glocksen, who now performs with Ballroom with a Twist — her birthday was on July 4, two days after her official due date.

And while the pregnancy announcement came at a special time for the family — as Glocksen’s mother, Nancy Glowacki, was preparing for double bypass surgery — the couple wanted to wait to surprise everyone with baby’s sex.

“We feel it’s life’s ultimate surprise! I’ve always had a vision of the doctor in scrubs walking into the waiting room telling our family, ‘It’s a ___!’ ” she told PEOPLE in December.

Ultimately, the couple did find out ahead of time — “We caved, but it’s our little secret,” Glocksen said — but eventually shared the sex of the baby via Instagram. The new mom shared the first photos of her newborn on the social media platform Thursday evening.

'Better Call Saul': New photos, details from 'Breaking Bad' spin-off

$

0

The producers of Better Call Saul are answering some questions about the hotly anticipated Breaking Bad spin-off prequel, and AMC is releasing some new photos. Writer-producers Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould took questions from reporters at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills on Friday.  Here’s what we learned:

1. The series regulars and their confirmed character names joining star Bob Odenkirk: Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) as “fixer” Mike Erhmantraut, Michael McKean (This is Spinal Tap) as Chuck, Rhea Seehorn (Franklin & Bash) as Kim, Patrick Fabian (Grey’s Anatomy) as Hamlin and Michael Mando (Orphan Black) as Nacho.

2. Better Call Saul is set in 2002— six years before Saul (Odenkirk) meets Walter White (Bryan Cranston) in Breaking Bad. Funny enough, that the events in Breaking Badstarting in 2008 is also new information, Gilligan said, noting that the original show never specified what year it took place. “I hesitate to say it, but it is indeed a period piece,” Gilligan said.

3. Yet the show will definitely jump around in time, as has been widely reported. “I think the best way to answer this and not get yelled at is you saw from Breaking Badthat we like non-linear storytelling and jumping around in time,” Gilligan said. “I would point you in the that direction, that anything that’s possible in Breaking Bad is possible in Better Call Saul.”

4. Saul Goodman’s name in BetterCall Saul is not yet Saul Goodman. When we meet Odenkirk’s character, he’s actually known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer hustling to make ends meet and working with Mike. The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman.

5. McKean (photo below) plays Goodman’s brother. “So we have these two comedy legends working together,” Gould noted.

6. The show will not copy Breaking Bad’s neo-Western visual style. “Peter came with an idea book of frame grabs from classic movies, like The Conformist, we talked a lot about Kubrick,” Gilligan said. “We’re doing our damndest to make it as different as possible. It’s important that this not look like a carbon copy of Breaking Bad.”

7. Walter White will only show up if it makes sense: “If it makes sense we’ll do it, if it doesn’t make sense we won’t,” Gilligan said. “I’d love to have him as a director … character wise, who knows? Maybe there’s a way to do it.”

8. There’s a chance fan-favorite villain Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) could return: “There’s always a chance, yeah,” Gilligan said. Added Gould: “These are all characters we love and with Gus there is so much more to say about that character, and we certainly love Giancarlo. Having said that, we’re trying to make something that stands on its own that has an entertainment value that’s not just seeing a series of old favorites. It’s not the series equivalent of a clip show. So we try to balance these things out. But I agree there’s so much to be said about Gus — although in the series it always seemed to me that Saul didn’t know Gus directly. He knew a guy who knew a guy.”

9. The reason Better Call Saul was pushed from fall to early 2015: “I am slow as mud as a TV writer,” Gilligan said. “We had a pace on Breaking Bad thanks to AMC that was deliciously stately … we have a way of doing things that’s slower than most tv shows … because we want to think everything through and we think that pays dividends.”

10. Some Breaking Bad directors are returning: After Gilligan’s premiere, Michelle MacLaren (Game of Thrones) will direct episode 2, Terry McDonough (who directed the first Saul episode) directs episode 3 and Colin Bucksey (four episodes of Breaking Bad) helms episode four and Adam Bernstein (Fargo) has episode 5.

Better Call Saul is set to premiere in early 2015. As previously announced, Gilligan directed the first episode of the first season, which will consist of 10 epiosdes. The second season will consist of 13 episodes.

Better Call Saul: It looks like Huell might be back too

Breaking Bad actor Lavell Crawford has hinted that Huell Babineaux might be making an appearance in the prequel Better Call Saul, saying he's had "some interesting calls" about the AMC show.

Crawford was quizzed by a paparazzo in LA this week, who told the actor he'd heard he will be back in the spin-off.

The questioning was pretty leading (as you can see in the video below), but Crawford did confirm that he's been in talks over BCS.

Well I got some interesting calls, so..." he said,  later adding: "Yeah, so you know there ain't no word yet but I'm on their map."

Given Peter Gould's recent admission that the show will take place before, during and after Breaking Bad using flash backs and flash forwards, Saul's bodyguard could quite easily fit into the show, possibly alongside his partner in crime Patrick Kuby (Bill Burr).

While Huell's screen time was fairly minimal in Breaking Bad he played a significant role in its plot, switching Jesse's cigarettes in the fake ricin plot and later selling Walt out to Hank.

Iggy Azalea diss track goes viral

$

When you’re a leggy, blonde rapper who dates a Black ball player and appear to be an overnight media darling, the target on your back could be pretty humongous. Like, say…the size of Australia.

The more success Iggy Azalea brings about for herself, the more controversy and drama she will likely engage in as well. At press time, there is a photoshopped Facebook shot of her with Drake, T.I. and B.o.B with her social media handle using the n-word making its rounds throughout the Internet. And many took her response to the Nicki Minaj/BET situation as a diss and ran it with it like cold pigskin on a Sunday afternoon.

Now she is the victim to a verbal thrashing (and subsequent on-screen death) at the hands of Madd Mary, a California MC whose bone she had to pick with Iggy just ends up becoming a stabbing weapon.

On her new track “Eff Iggy,” she gathers all the multisyllabic parables she can muster and heave-ho’s them at the “Fancy” rapper, making sure she shoulders the load. With lyrics like, “Think you got permission to rock?/Cuz you were suckin’/South n****s off and listened to Pac?/Soon as they popped the britches you were itchin’ to drop/Sickening to watch how the media done christened you hot,” Mary tells us why she’s “Madd” and then some.

Now comes the dicey part. It will likely be hard to debate that Madd Mary didn’t flex her lyrical superiority towards her competition but in 2014, the road to recognition is easy. Keeping it and elevating the game is the hard part.

Iggy has continuously stressed her exhaustion with Hip-Hop politics and media contrived beef, so the likelihood of her going tit for tat with a virtually unknown is slim to not never. It’s on Mary now to prove she can equal Iggy’s success within the parameters of her own lane without going down as an one-hit hater.

It’s still a good record, however. Check out the video of the Iggy Azalea diss below. The track is available for free download on Bandcamp.

Snowpiercer, VOD, and the future of film distribution

June 27, a bold new sci-fi film opened in theaters. Critics raved. Fanboys exulted. Word-of-mouth was overwhelmingly positive. No, it wasn’t “Transformers: Age of Extinction.”

Upon its release, South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s “Snowpiercer” appeared to have the trappings of a summertime theatrical hit. It had a grabby premise (haves and have-nots battling it out on a train hurtling through a post-apocalyptic landscape). It had wall-to-wall action (sword fights, fistfights, gunfights). It had a major star (Chris Evans of the “Captain America" and "Avengers" franchises) and a compelling, daring actress (Tilda Swinton).

There was just one bump in the road to potential box office glory: “Snowpiercer” opened in only eight theaters. Yes, eight. That's 4,225 fewer than “Transformers" debuted in the very same day.

Well, if you've been frustrated — or perhaps just bewildered — that you haven't yet been able to see one of the most acclaimed films of the summer (Rotten Tomatoes' score: 94%), it’s about to get a whole lot easier. Just two weeks after hitting theaters, “Snowpiercer” will be available as of Friday on VOD, much earlier than a theatrically released film normally would be.

The “Snowpiercer” release pattern has certainly been an unusual one, but the film’s distributor, Weinstein Co.'s boutique division Radius-TWC, says it’s all been part of a carefully orchestrated strategy aimed at bringing the movie to the widest audience possible. At a time when Hollywood is struggling to work out where movies are heading in the digital age — a subject that director Christopher Nolan tackled this week in a much-discussed Wall Street Journal op-ed piece — many will watch closely to see how that strategy pans out.

Prior to the release of “Snowpiercer,” some speculated that the film’s theatrical release may have been curtailed due to a behind-the-scenes dispute over the cut of the film. But Radius-TWC co-president Tom Quinn says that, from an early point, the company honed in on the idea of giving the film (which remains in its original, director-approved cut) a platform theatrical release paired with an early VOD debut.

“ ‘Snowpiercer’ fits this [strategy] perfectly because it’s in the gap between what constitutes a wide release and a specialized release,” Quinn said. “We expect for it to work theatrically, and we expect it to work on VOD. We hope that they can enhance each other.”

Indeed, “Snowpiercer” has performed well in theaters, albeit in its relatively limited release. The film, which expanded to 250 screens in its second week and will reach 354 screens this weekend, has grossed $2 million and boasted strong per-screen averages. (Internationally, it has earned more than $80 million, the majority of that in South Korea.)

By releasing “Snowpiercer” on VOD ahead of the typical schedule, Radius-TWC risks short-circuiting the movie's theatrical performance. Exhibitors are, understandably, reluctant to keep screens available for films that are playing in people’s living rooms. But Quinn, who ultimately would like to expand "Snowpiercer" to about 600 screens, argues that, in this case, the early VOD release represents a way to reach more potential viewers while buzz around the film is still strong.

“The motto at Radius is ‘a screen is a screen is a screen,'” Quinn said. “We’re screen-agnostic, and as consumer habits change, film audiences today are becoming screen-promiscuous. Starting Friday, 85 million-plus consumers will have access to 'Snowpiercer' on VOD. The film will be more widely available than every other film on screen this weekend combined. One way or the other, we’re going to find you somewhere.”

For many cinephiles, the shift toward VOD, with many independent releases being simultaneously released in theaters and on iTunes and other on-demand platforms, has been an uncomfortable one. While it unquestionably makes many films more widely available than they would otherwise be, watching a movie on a TV, laptop, tablet or phone is hardly the same as seeing it in a theater. Some argue that releasing films this way diminishes film as an art form and results in movies being, as Nolan wrote in his essay, "thrown in with other endeavors under the reductive term 'content.'"

For his part, though, Quinn believes that, given the rapid shifts we're seeing in technology and entertainment consumption, experiments like the “Snowpiercer” release are exactly what is needed to safeguard the future of movies as we've known them.

“I believe theatrical and VOD can coexist,” Quinn said. “My favorite restaurant started offering home delivery, but I still go eat there. We absolutely believe in the theatrical value of our movies. But there has to be more nuance and more innovation [in film distribution] in the service of making the industry more competitive. The more competitive it is, the better the content will be. You have to tailor a release strategy to each movie. It’s not one-size-fits-all.” (Indeed, Radius-TWC took a very different tack last year with its Oscar-winning documentary “20 Feet From Stardom,” keeping that film in theaters for months.)

Film distribution has always been as much art as science. We'll never know how "Snowpiercer" might have fared if it had been released on hundreds or even thousands of screens right out of the gate; it's certainly more offbeat and philosophical than your typical summer blockbuster, so it's quite possible that it could have become lost in the shuffle.

But however successful the "Snowpiercer" experiment ultimately proves, it has already shown us one thing: When it comes to Hollywood’s digital future, the train has left the station.

In Denial? Phaedra Not Really Thinking About Apollo's Sentence, Throwing Herself Into Work!!!!

When Apollo Nida was sentenced to eight years in prison earlier this week, fans were left with many questions: When will he actually enter jail? How much restitution will he have to pay? And most importantly, where was his wife, Phaedra Parks? Parks seems to have abandoned her man at his time of need — but now Kandi Burruss has come forward with an explanation.

“She’s basically working,” Burruss said in a new interview with Hollywoodlife.com. “That’s how I deal with things too; when I have a lot going on, I just put more into work. I know that she’s promoting her book and doing her book tour,” Burruss said of Parks’ Secrets of the Southern Belle, which was released in November.

But is Nida buying the excuse? Asked by local news reporters why his wife was a no-show at the Atlanta sentencing, he said, “I don’t know. We have other issues. She had to go ahead and take care of our children.”

Nida previously insisted he hoped his wife would stand by him if he were incarcerated.

“I think Phaedra, in a perfect world, should be supportive as a wife should be,” he said. “But if she chooses to derail from the plan, that’s what she chooses to do.”

Now, she hasn’t been seen with her husband since April 4, with Nida telling Radar the couple were “working on” their relationship.

Is Kandi Pregnant By Todd?

Even if Todd never gets any approval from his mother-in-law, Mama Joyce, to have a baby we are sure that Kandi and her husband will still try to have a little one of their own.

Now that the wedding drama is over, the couple are settling right in to the married life. The newlyweds are moving ahead with plans to expand their family.

"Todd and I definitely want to have children, but it hasn't happened yet," Kandi said to BravoTV.com. "I don't know what we're doing wrong, but hopefully it will come together soon."

Both Kandi and Todd have a daughter from previous relationships, and Sister 2 Sister reveals that Todd's daughter, Kaela will be moving in with the couple soon. Kandi's daughter is named Riley after Kandi's late brother, who passed away in an accident while in Mexico.

Kandi at one time wanted to have a child named Kash, but her former Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star stole that dream. Kim Zolciak named one of her son's Kash.

"I will not give out any potential names because every time I say a name that I like, somebody else get it," she revealed.

Vicki Is A Grandma Again!

Who needs the O.C. when grandkids are being born in Oklahoma?!

Vicki Gunvalson became a grandmother of two today after daughter Briana welcomed her second child with husband Ryan Culberson.

"Thrilled to say Briana gave birth today to a spectacular boy, 7 lbs. 8 oz, name not as yet given, in Oklahoma this morning," the Real Housewives of Orange County star wrote in a Facebook post. "The happy father, Ryan, and my Mom—Briana's Grandmother—and I were present."

Briana and Ryan are also parents to son Troy, who will be 2 in September.

The 52-year-old businesswoman and reality-TV star is herself a mother of two. Earlier in RHOC's ninth season, she traveled to Oklahoma to go house-hunting with Briana.

Woo-hoo to the whole family!

Teresa Dodges Questions About Prison!

She's facing the possibility of hard prison time after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud. And on Thursday during an interview on The View, Teresa Giudice dodged questions about her legal woes as she talked about focusing on her family.

The 42-year-old, however, did admit that the 'past year has been a rollercoaster' as she and husband Joe both have a court date to receive their sentences in September. The Real Housewives Of New Jersey star explained that her troubles have provided an 'amazing education on the way our legal system works.'

Continuing to be evasive, Teresa said: 'Right now what I'm focusing on is my family
and my husband - he not only lost his father but also his best friend.'

She also confirmed that her sentencing hearing has been 'pushed out to late September' following the death of Joe's father Frank in June.

Joe's father Frank died suddenly in June, which prompted the court to allow the family to grieve by postponing their sentencing from July to September.

The Giudice's awyer has confirmed that the under fire reality TV stars - who have pled guilty to bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, and failure to pay taxes - have had their sentencing postponed until September as they deal with the family tragedy.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' On Track For $60+ Million Domestic Opening Weekend

Disney's next Marvel superhero movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” is tracking for an opening in the $60 million range, according to pre-release data that came online Thursday. That's a strong early projection for the film, which will introduce a new set of lesser-known Marvel Comics characters when it opens nationwide on Aug. 1.

James Gunn directs the action-adventure epic about a band of extraterrestrial misfits on the run after stealing a coveted orb, and co-wrote with Nicole Perlman. “Guardians” stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Karen Gillan. Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Josh Brolin will voice characters.

Marvel movies have been front and center this summer, including “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which debuted in April. But “Guardians” is based on a comic-book series less well known those properties, and most moviegoers will be unfamiliar with characters like Star Lord (Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (Cooper), Thanos (Brolin) and Groot (Diesel).

It's big bet for Disney, with a production budget of $170 million. But the payoff will be considerable if the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is able to launch another franchise. It will open against “Get On Up,” the James Brown biopic starring Chadwick Boseman (“42”).

Disney/Marvel are set to launch yet another superhero property with Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1st. This week BoxOffice takes a closer look at the commercial prospects for this unconventional flick.

PROS:
- Disney's marketing campaign deserves an A+. Everything from the trailers to the posters have been spot on.
- Co-star Vin Diesel has a very loyal fanbase and a whopping 77 million+ likes on Facebook that he can promote Guardians to.
- Star Chris Pratt is on the rise and this movie is poised to make him an even bigger star.
- Releasing the film in August means it will face less competition that it would in May, June or July.

CONS:
- It may come across as too quirky and unconventional for some viewers.
- The trailer does not give off a family-friendly vibe.

Marvel's next big franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy, doesn't hit theaters until August 1, but we think you should brush up on your movie knowledge before it comes out and becomes the worl-- scratch that, galaxy’s biggest movie. The basic outline of the plot is: "In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan."

Parks & Recreation star Chris Pratt got seriously ripped for the part of Peter Quill/Star Lord, and there are some other faces you might recognize. Zoe Saldana is part of yet another franchise as she stars as Gamora and, though he might not actually be on screen, Bradley Cooper is voicing a character named Rocket Raccoon. HOWEVER, before these actors were chosen for their respective parts, there were quite a few other people who were considered. Here are 27 actors you didn't know were almost cast in Guardians of the Galaxy.

1. Joseph Gordon-Levitt— JGL auditioned and screen tested for the role of Peter Quill/Star Lord, but turned it down in order to join Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

3. Aaron Paul— Yep, this Breaking Bad star auditioned and screen tested for Peter Quill/Star Lord too.

7. John Krasinski— John missed out on Captain America AND playing Peter Quill/Star Lord as he auditioned and screen tested for the part.

15. James Marsden— Cyclops also auditioned and screen tested for the role of Peter Quill/Star Lord.

18. Olivia Wilde— Olivia was offered the role of Gamora, but turned it down.

selbiebs!!
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are desperate to make each other insanely jealous ... at least that's how it looks after they both flaunted their dinner dates with new people.
The first shot came from Selena on Wednesday night when she hit Tao in NYC with 26-year-old model Tanz Watson ... who wasted no time posting a sexy pic of Selena pressed up against him.

Then the Biebs responded last night with his own Instagram of himself and model Yovanna Ventura at dinner in LA with the caption, "dinner for 2 ;)."
Sources close to the exes tell us Justin religiously watches Selena's every move on social media -- so this is no coincidence.
As for who's winning the war -- well, Beliebers have already coined the term, Jovanna for Justin and his new chick.

Mess!! Do you stalk any of your exes on social media?

Geena Davis gets all dolled up for women's equality on 'Doc McStuffins'

This little Disney princess doesn’t need any help — even from “Doc McStuffins.”

Geena Davis provides the voice for Princess Persephone (or “Peri,” as she likes to be called), a doll in Friday’s new episode of the Disney Channel’s hit kiddie show “Doc McStuffins” (9:30 a.m.).

Peri isn’t your stereotypical princess in peril — and that’s exactly why Davis is happy to help bring the character to life.

“She has a very unconventional encounter with the cast of the show,” Davis told The News. “Peri is in a tower and wants to get down, so a chivalrous knight toy declares he will come and rescue her. But she explains that she can get down herself.”

The role ties in nicely with Davis’ work as founder and leader of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.

She launched the group in 2007 as a research-based organization that aims to engage, educate and reduce stereotyping. It supports the creation of diverse female characters in entertainment for kids 11 and younger.

“The poor knight gets a little upset and says he’s supposed to rescue princesses,” says Davis. “So Doc’s idea is to have a tournament between the knight and the princess, and in the end they both come out pretty even. It’s a good message.”

On the show, Doc is a smart, sweet little girl with a magic stethoscope that brings stuffed animals and other toys to life.

When a toy is broken, she brings it to her “clinic” — a backyard playhouse where it gets a checkup, diagnosis and treatment.

The show’s goal is to teach children not to fear doctors. It’s among the most-watched series for young kids.
