He has been visiting his wife on the set of her new movie, conveniently filmed in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada.
But interestingly, Ryan Reynolds decided to skip the scene were Blake Lively reenacted a wedding, including a kiss with the groom.

On Tuesday, the Gossip Girl actress looked absolutely stunning in a vintage bridal gown, with a '40s hairstyle.

The film, The Age Of Adaline, revolves around Blake's titular character, born at the turn of the 20th century, and rendered ageless after an accident.
The film is directed by Lee Toland Krieger, whose previous credits include The Vicous Kind and Celeste And Jesse Forever.
The project has been in the works for a while now, with Spanish director Isbale Coixet attacted to direct at one point.
Blake's character was also originally offered to Katherine Heigl, and Natalie Portman was also in talks to star.
The love narrative finds a twist when, after years of living alone, Adaline meets a man she believes is worth giving up her immortality.
Meanwhile, in Blake's real-life, her husband Ryan has been pictured numerous times with her on set.
On the same day, Ryan was seen elsewhere on the location, and eventually got caught in the rain by himself.
Blake recently revealed that was glad she took some time off to enjoy being a newlywed with Ryan.
She tied the knot with the actor, 37, in a secret ceremony near Charleston, South Carolina, in September 2012, and admits it was "really nice" to take a break from the spotlight for most of last year to focus on their relationship.
The 26-year-old actress told the April issue of Elle magazine:'Having a personal life has been really nice.'
;I'd been on Gossip Girl 10 months a year for six years, shooting 15-hour days, so I hadn't had time to just be since I graduated from high school.'
She added: 'It's been nice to kind of settle into my own skin and work on things I really love.'
But the blonde beauty is now ready to reignite her career with The Age of Adaline in her husband's native Canada.
A source told E! News that Blake has been working very hard on the movie and pulling all-nighters this week.
The movie, which also stars Harrison Ford, is set to be released next year.

First Look At Captain America's New Costume for 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'

Last week we got our first look at Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) on the Italy set of Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as a glimpse at Hawkeye's (Jeremy Renner) new costume. Well, with production now shifting to South Korea, it's been revealed that Hawkeye won't be the only Avenger with new attire when Earth's Mightiest Heroes reassemble, with a new set video showing a stand-in for Chris Evans dressed in Captain America's latest suit.

It features Chris Evans' stunt-double dressed in a new Captain America costume that was designed for Avengers 2. It appears to be quite similar to his retro costume that was seen in Marvel's latest blockbuster, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but with a few tweaks here and there. The scenes that were filmed involved Steve Rogers performing stunts on a moving truck.

Documentary Spotlights Women's Unwanted 'Honor'

$
0
0

"I am a survivor of FGM," says Jaha Dukurek, a young Muslim woman originally from Gambia.

A survivor of both genital cutting and child marriage, Dukurek refuses to believe her traumatizing experiences are a requirement of her Islamic faith.

Yet female genital mutilation — or FGM, as it is called — is practiced in more than 20 countries, many of them Muslim, around Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

"I went through FGM when I was a week old," she says, giving voice to a vast diaspora of women whose harrowing accounts of culturally-sanctioned violence are brought to light in the recently-released documentary "Honor Diaries," the product of a joint effort by 30 women's rights groups.

As the documentary shows, thousands of women and girls around the world are subjected to forced marriages, mutilation, attacks and even murder — all in the name of maintaining the "honor" of the perpetrator, family or community that condones it. "Honor Diaries" features nine women's rights advocates with connections to Muslim-majority societies, and also lends support and encourages sponsorship and promotion of The International Violence Against Women Act.

But according to Dukureh, the practices aren't restricted to far-flung corners of the globe.

"Whenever you have immigrants that migrate from other countries, they bring their culture and traditions with them and these are the things they practice on their daughters," she says, explaining that genital mutilation even occurs in some immigrant Muslim communities in the United States.

Regardless of geographic locale, Dukureh says one way to change attitudes is by raising awareness and getting people and government agencies involved. By providing support services for these girls, she says, it gives them hope and lets them know that people really do care.

For Paula Kweskin, a human rights attorney the documentary's producer, the central purpose of the documentary is to spark a public discourse about practices many perceive as taboo.

"This is an issue that is swept under the rug time and time again," she Kweskin. "There is a paralyzing sense of political correctness — not only in the United States but in many countries around the world — where they feel that if they are talking about issues such as violence against women that are sometimes condoned by culture and religion, they are not allowed to talk about it.

"That's primarily and specifically, why we should be talking about it," she says.

A joint effort by 30 women's rights groups, Honor Diaries, Kweskin says, is more than a movie, but a movement to engage people the world over.

"We want to have the film translated and shown all over the Muslim world. We have translated the film into Arabic, Farsi, [and] Urdu, and we hope to have it shown and distributed as widely as possible," she says. "We are also raising money to hopefully enact a text line and help-line here in the United States that could potentially serve as a refuge for women and girls at risk."

The producers hope the documentary will help more people break the silence and open an honest dialogue on the issue of violence against women, which — they say — is the first step to promote change.

'How to Poo on a Date': The quirky guide to romance that's become an Amazon sensation

$

The £5 dating bible, published by Prion, promises to solve all your toilet conundrums, from what to do if the urge arises at an awkward moment to how best to cover up any unromantic odours.

The authors, credited only as Mats and Enzo, spent five years researching this work of lavatory-related genius.

'One of the secrets of seduction (and this goes as much for a first date as for the rest of the relationship) is to stay faultless at all times,’ the relationship scholars write in the book’s intro.

‘However, you are made of flesh and bone and this means that yes, sometimes you have to go to the loo.

'This vital human requirement remains strangely taboo in modern society, and it can ruin a blooming or well-established relationship in an instant.’

To illustrate the point the book kicks off with a cautionary tale. So confident in his relationship was Tom, a friend of the authors, that he started talking to his girlfriend with the toilet door open.

Needless to say, Tom’s ‘monumental error of judgement’ means he's now single.

‘We could no longer allow something as banal as going to the toilet to continue to destroy millions of perfectly good relationships,’ the authors explain, thus ‘How to Poo…’ was squeezed out between them.

The authors acknowledge that women are much more advanced in their toilet behaviour than men and have successfully perpetuated the myth that they never do number twos or let off wind.

With that in mind Mats and Enzo have been chivalrous enough to write the part of the toilet perpetrator as a male throughout the 144-page guide. But they do point out that the gender is interchangeable in all examples.

The book, which is the third in the ‘How to Poo…’ trilogy, (hot on the heels of ‘How to Poo at Work’ and ‘How to Poo on Holiday’,) covers what to do if you need the loo in scenarios including a cocktail party, in a Gondola or on an aeroplane.

The advice goes from the sublime to the ridiculous when covering empty bog-roll emergencies, by suggesting one rips off wallpaper from behind the radiator.

To overcome an unattractive odour? ‘Quickly find a bottle of perfume and spray yourself with it. Use generously. Find and embrace your date, holding them close to you. Let go only when the air is decontaminated.’

How charities can recruit, retain and distance celebrity supporters

$
0
0

Celebrity ambassadors can increase awareness of your charity's cause and message, but they can also bring reputational risk

There has been some interesting debate recently about just how much celebrity star power genuinely benefits charities, with the high-profile parting of Scarlett Johansson and Oxfam prompting much soul-searching about the value of high-profile supporters.

Despite occasional hiccups, the fact remains that celebrity star power has enormous potential to widen the reach and appeal of an organisation's messages. The right person can help charities to raise their profile, boost funds and increase their influence – but only when the celebrity relationship is carefully planned, managed and sustained.

Finding a celebrity supporter is only part of the work. The relationship then needs to be nurtured, the right opportunities need to be found and sensible safeguards need to be put in place. Here are some tips for harnessing the power of celebrity for your cause.

Biggest is not always best
When choosing a celebrity, resist the temptation to go straight to the biggest, most well-known names. Instead, look for celebrities who have a link with or interest in your area of work – perhaps someone who has had experience of the issues your organisation is involved with, either directly or through a relative or friend.

Sometimes a less high-profile but dedicated supporter will take a greater interest and accomplish more for your charity than an A-list superstar. They might also have fewer gatekeepers, more flexibility to fulfil short-notice requests and a shorter advanced-booking time.

Making contact
The most important ingredient of a successful approach is clarity; clarity about your organisation or campaign objectives, clarity about what you want the celebrity to do and clarity about the likely time commitment. Without this, a celebrity or their agent will find it difficult to decide if they are able to make a commitment. Consider mapping out your wishlist over a year so that your expectations are clear, and be realistic about the amount of time the celebrity will be able to give.

Celebrities are normally approached in one of two ways – directly, particularly if a charity has a staff member, trustee or other contact who is able to make an introduction, or, more commonly, through an agent. Try to see the latter as a help rather than a hindrance – working with him or her to understand the limitations on their client's time and the best way to work with them.

Finding the right opportunities
It can be useful to have several celebrity supporters from various walks of life who will appeal to a variety of media and audiences. Rather than using one celebrity as a go-to person for every activity, find specific opportunities that are suited to their background, interests and talent. A model may prefer a photocall; an actor a radio appeal and so on.

Sustaining the relationship
Celebrity supporters need to be nurtured, not just used. They need to be looked after and on an organisation's agenda for regular discussion. Thoughtful gestures and regular communication can make all the difference – a newsletter with a personal note, a Christmas card and invitations to suitable events will all help to build and maintain a rapport.

When things go wrong
A celebrity relationship brings with it risks and well as rewards. Celebrities are, by their nature, in the public eye and there is always the chance that they may attract negative attention. Charities can minimise the potential reputational risks by keeping on top of developments and being prepared with responses for media, supporters and other important audiences at the first sign of any problems.

The above notwithstanding, keep a cool head and don't fixate on poor publicity that is here today and gone tomorrow. Even the most squeaky-clean celebrities will have their bad days – so don't be too quick to distance yourself if they run into difficulties.

Measuring impact
How you measure the impact of a celebrity's support will depend on the nature of their contribution – for example whether they have spoken at an event or agreed to mention you in interviews – as well as your own internal reporting processes and performance targets. If a celebrity has helped to generate media coverage, then standard PR measurements such as reach and advertising value equivalent can be used. Celebrity support can also be measured as a gift in kind, so that if, for example, a high-profile person normally charges for speaking at an event and is doing the same for you, free of charge, then you can value this donation at the same level.

Drake's OVO crew vs. Rihanna, allegedly "she was so demanding no wonder Chris hit her"

Drake's blossoming relationship with Rihanna seems to be going pretty well. But apparently there's just one problem - his friend's don't approve of the relationship!

A few weeks ago, rumors suggested that Drizzy "dumped" RiRi after just a few days of dating - because his Young Money crew didn't want the songstress following them around on tour anymore! The Nothing Was the Same rapper then began hooking-up with a gorgeous gal named Winta'nna. As Mstars previously reported:

Apparently, Drizzy already dumped the Barbadian beauty for ANOTHER sexy side-chick! What do fans think about that?

An alleged insider tells MTO that Drizzy's OVO crew "wasn't feeling" Rihanna's vibe. She apparently started "acting up" on tour, so Drake kicked her out after a few weeks of hooking-up!

MTO reports that the rapper's posse "felt she was too bossy and condesencing, especially towards Drake's crew, so they kept pressuring Drake to cut her loose." And supposedly it worked.

Lindsay Lohan Needs Help! Her Assistant QUIT Because She ‘Can’t Afford’ To Pay Him

ts hard to find good help these days — especially if you’re Lindsay Lohan. RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the controversial actress’ long-suffering assistant Matt Harrell has quit because the troubled starlet couldn’t afford to pay him after production on her self titled reality show, for Oprah Winfrey OWN network wrapped.

download

“Matt had moved from Los Angeles to New York City to work for Lindsay…..” a source tells Radar exclusively. “He is extremely professional and very good at his job. Previously Matt had worked for Prince and to say working for Lindsay was difficult and chaotic would be an understatement.”

But once production on her reality show concluded, LiLo told Harrell she couldn't keep him on.

“Matt still agreed to accompany Lindsay to do press for the show,” the source says. ”He even went with her for her appearance on Ellen. He is hoping to get another job with another celebrity by helping Lindsay out.”

Viewers of the OWN show recently saw Lindsay and Harrell getting increasingly upset about how he couldn't get her to talk to him about his duties.

In one of his most frustrating moments, Matt went to mom Dina Lohan‘s house to pick up some of the star’s possessions, but she wouldn't talk to him about her moving plans.

While Lohan was pawing through her clothes in the apartment, Matt wanted to talk to her, but she again ignored him.

“It p*sses me off,” Matt said, as he planned a showdown with Lohan.

Our source goes on to say, “Lindsay would love to have Matt back as her assistant, but she just cant’t afford him. He did a really good job for her.”

Fear not, Chris Evans fans. He's not walking away just yet. Following recent statements he made about quitting acting to take up directing, the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star now says he's doesn't plan on retiring from the spotlight.

"I said that I directed last year. I really responded to it. I really enjoyed it," the 32-year-old said on Good Morning America Monday. "I'd love to focus a little bit more on that." He added, "By no means am I planning on retiring. It's kind of a silly statement. But I certainly am going to try to focus a bit more on directing at this point."

Speaking to Variety this month, Evans seemed to say that he planned to curb his acting roles, apart from his contractual commitments. "If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing," he said in the interview. "I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do."

The GMA appearance wasn't all serious. Evans talked about his role in the upcoming Captain America sequel and even got a delivery from his favorite pizzeria in his hometown, Boston.

And look out for the rest of the Cap 2 cast on GMA later this week

Lindsay Lohan Was Almost In The Avengers, According to Lindsay Lohan

$

But who would she have played?

Lindsay Lohan, whose most recent onscreen opuses ranged from The Canyons to Lifetime’s made-for-TV Elizabeth Taylor biopic, says that she could have had a different film fate. In the latest episode of her Oprah-produced reality television show, the wayward star talked about how she was almost cast in Marvel’s The Avengers.

Lohan said that since her manager didn’t “push” hard enough, her super secret role was given to an “unknown.”

This, of course, begs the question of who Lohan would have played in the likely blockbuster: there’s Pepper Potts, played by the recently “uncoupled” Gwyneth Paltrow. (Not an unknown.) There’s the Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson. (Definitely not unknown). And then there’s Agent Maria Hill, played by How I Met Your Mother’s Colbie Smulders. (Is this who Lilo is shading?)

The only other option was an unnamed NASA scientist played by Tina Benko. Not quite a leading role.

Lohan continued chronicling her casting concerns.

“If I don’t work in a film, he passes it to Vanessa Hudgens; [my manager] passes it one of his other clients,” Lohan said. “Every day I’m not on a film set, I’m wasting my talent because that’s what I was born, and live, to do.”

Maybe one day Lohan will fulfill the role she was born to play and finally be turned into an action figure.
