'Alpha' faces animal death allegations, PETA calls for boycott

In 2016, The Hollywood Reporter investigated the use of five bison carcasses on the set of the Jeff Robinov movie Alpha (then titled The Solutrean). There are allegations that the wrangler responsible for obtaining the carcasses (John Scott) had them slaughtered and skinned for the purpose of filming, which is prohibited by the American Humane Association.

Scott's been linked to controversy before, including a horse's death during the production of The 13th Warrior (1999) and selling horses used on Canadian TV series Heartland to Bouvry Exports, a slaughterhouse known for its inhumane practices. He did not comment on any of these situations specifically, but statements include: “I have the right to do with my bison whatever I want to do" and "I take my horses to horse sales, and I can't help where they go from there."

Though others from the film claim the bison were not slaughtered specifically for the project, questions remain. PETA Senior VP Lisa Lange calls for audiences to boycott the film and says, "Five sensitive bison lost their lives, all so that their bodies could be used as props in this wholly forgettable flick."

Alpha opens Friday in North America.

In a video that probably cost her around $60 to make between the fast food and Freetress units (who's going to ID that cow outfit, btw?), Doja Cat memes her way to virality.






An interview with Complex revealed that:

- It wasn't really planned and "the whole thing happened spontaneously as she was goofing around with fans on Instagram Live"
- "I did this in my room at around 5:00 p.m. after I finished making the song," Doja Cat explains. "It was getting really dark and I don’t have any lighting except for some Christmas lights in my room. I pretty much had to rush the whole thing but I had a lot of fun."
- She used old childhood bedding as green screen: "When I was 12 I was obsessed with green and had my mom get me a bunch of green bedding for my room," she says. "I thought about doing a green screen shoot through Photo Booth and got them out of my closet and used tacks and a hammer to nail them to the wall."
- She's also surprised at its sudden success
- She will perform the song on her tour starting September 12th in Austin, Texas

Pearl Jam raise $11 million in 2 shows for Seatle's homeless...and piss off Trumpers w/ a poster

In just two concerts, Pearl Jam has raised over $11 million dollars for the homeless in their home city of Seattle. The money will be split between various charities in the city. One of the local shelters, Mary’s Place, which provides emergency shelter to women, children and families was finally able to actually purchase property to use as the shelter with the funds given to them.

The fund is called The Home Shows and you can donate HERE. 90% of the proceeds go towards the various local organizations.

Seattle's homeless population has soared by 40% over the past 30 years and is now ranked the 3rd largest homeless population in the country.





Pearl Jam is no stranger to rattling some feathers on the conservative right. Pearl Jam was in Missoula, Montana for a show Monday. The officual show poster, drawn by Jeff Ament and skayeboarder/artist Bobby Brown, endorsing the Dem Senate candidate Jon Tester. The poster depicts a burning white house, crumbling Lincoln memorial and a skeleton of Agent Orange having his dead eyes pecked out by a bald eagle (that eagle FINALLY getting a piece) with Dem Senator Jon Tester flying above it all on his tractor. 'Fans' who apparently haven't followed the band at all and don't actually listen to the lyrics are expressing 'outrage' over the poster, and Fox News & Breitbart are frothing at the mouth over it.

J Balvin wants to change the negativity that he believes is consuming the urban genre, and has no tolerance for romanticizing criminal violence.
He asks his colleagues to create music with the exclusive goal of making people happy.


"Lately, our music genre is more focused on the attitude of criminals and drug dealers than music ... I was born in 1985 in Medellin Colombia where drug trafficking boomed, which I DO NOT FEEL PROUD OF, but it was a reality at that time. It was like a full fever in the streets and however much you wanted to avoid it and as much as you did not identify as "street", some friend, acquaintance or family memberof yours was killed in the most cruel and inhumane way. As an exponent of the genre, I want to express that this attitude was the one that damaged my country for generations and affected the world culture with the same vice. I, as a Colombian from Medellín, don’t share the film, and I have friends at all social levels and the most street "bad guys" who do not speak, nor are they proud of what they are, nor do they advise it, much less use social networks. For me, it is a joke what is happening. Instead, let's make music! I would like to take them to a neighborhood in my city to see how many of the most "street" of the genre do not run away or give them a heart attack when they see that their films have nothing to do with the harsh reality, respect for what they are, and keep silent because their pain and reality is better not to tell. But zero respect to all the clowns of the genre, who are followed by thousands of people and all they have to offer is shit vibes when we come to make people dance and make them happy."

Terry Crews’ Ex-Social Media Manager Claims Actor Defamed Him, Owes Him $1 Million

Darwin Hall, a former friend of Terry Crews sued him, claiming he was not paid for work managing and promoting Crews’ social media accounts.
Hall alleges he is owed more than $1 million.
He also contends that Crews defamed him in a series of tweets, and recruited followers on a Crews subreddit to track down Hall and threaten him.

He agreed to work for Crews in 1999, when the actor was just starting out.
Hall claims he worked for many years promoting Crews’ FB and website.
He was paid a total of $28,479.06, of which about half was reimbursement for expenses.
He alleges that he is owed payment for more than 6,000 hours of work for Crews, at $55 an hour.

Keri Russell To Join Adam Driver in Broadway's 'Burn This' Revival

  • Keri Russell has joined the Michael Mayer directed revival of Lanford Wilson's Burn This.

  • This will be her first return to the stage since her Off-Broadway stage debut in Neil LaBute's Fat Pig in 2004.

  • The play is set to open at a currently unspecified Broadway theater in March 2019.

  • Set in NYC in the early 1980's, Burn This is about four people dealing with the accidental death of a young dancer.

  • Russell will play the part of Anna, originated by Joan Allen in the 1987 production, while Driver will play Pale, a part originally played by John Malkovich and described as "dangerous, sexy, raw, and demanding".

  • Both actors are starring in Star Wars: Episode IX, which is currently filming.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer leaving Dark Horse comics

-Back when BTVS was on air they started a bidding war after their 5th season resulting in them leaving TheWB and moving to UPN. Looks like history is repeating itself.

-After 20 years of publishing BTVS comics, Dark Horse has lost their licensing deal for the series.

-Where BTVS goes next...is still up in the air though Boom! Comics seems like a no brainer as FOX partially owns the comic publisher. Or maybe it'll go to Marvel now that Disney will be acquiring the rights after they are done buying FOX.

-The "final" season is currently being published through mid September.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Handmaid star Ann Dowd talked about her villainous character Aunt Lydia, including the one thing she thought Lydia would take back.

I think, for instance, that with sweet Janine, if Lydia had to do it over, she wouldn’t take the eye because the girl can’t handle it. She is the definition of fragile. Just because she said “fuck” twice? That went too far. She could have done with some tasing, and then she would have snapped too.

Because in the first season, we went to the big delegation from Mexico to show all the handmaids. Serena Joy says, “Pull out the damaged ones.” And Lydia says, “Wait a minute. They’re just as devoted. What do you mean remove them?” So clearly she has a different sensibility about what we’re doing here.

The fact that she loves them is going to be the downfall because, when you love someone like she does, then the walls begin to crumble and whatever attachment you have to this narrow way of life is going to be potholes, and you’re going to have a chance to see a bigger world.

11 shots were reported to have been fired at tekashi69 & 50 cent music video shoot

Shots were fired along the Brooklyn waterfront on Tuesday night during the filming of a music video by the New York rappers 50 Cent and tekashi69. Both rappers(?) linked up at a club recently were sex offender tekashi69 performed in front of 50 cent. During the performance the FeFe rapper said the n word multiple times and the candy shop chanteuse just smiled. tekashi69 also went live on social media where he laughed at the charges against him with his sex with a minor case. Sad to report that none of the rappers were shot.
