The Vampire Diaries 4x19 Promo Pics

We've been dying to get our hands on these "Vampire Diaries" senior prom photos -- and now we can finally exclusively reveal them to all the fans! The highly anticipated prom episode, "Pictures of You," will air Thursday, April 18 at 8 p.m. -- and judging from these pics, it's the biggest Mystic Falls event we've seen yet.

First of all, Elena -- who chooses a dress that matches the new hot-pink highlights in her hair -- finds herself caught between Stefan and Damon once again. We're just glad Damon agreed to go to the dance in the first place... after all, he is just a few years past his high school days.

Meanwhile, it seems that Rebekah is feeling a little glum as she slumps at a table. Perhaps she's not exactly the object of Stefan's affection that night? (Though, in that sunny yellow dress, we can't imagine why he wouldn't want to sweep her off her feet.) Luckily, it looks like Matt may be showing up to save the day. Here's hoping that kid finally gets a little action. It is prom night, after all.

As for Caroline -- how breathtaking is her gown? Unfortunately, with both Klaus and Tyler absent from these photos, there's no clue as to whether she's got a date to this particular dance. Maybe that's why she's sharing a drink with Damon in one shot.

And finally, we get to see Bonnie all dolled up! Since she's missed out on a few of Mystic Falls' more glamorous affairs, it's great to see her put on a fancy dress with her friends.

What are your best guesses as to what happens at the prom? Who's dancing with whom? Do you think Elena and Caroline will face off? Any guesses as to whether Katherine makes an appearance? Sound off below in the comments section. Let's discuss!

Aladdin/Tom Cruise
"Aladdin" (1992) was originally drawn to resemble Michael J. Fox but producers felt he looked too boyish and added the rakish features of Tom Cruise.

Ariel/Alyssa Milano
While actress Sherri Stoner was the live action model for Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" (1989) the animators were also inspired by then 16-year-old Alyssa Milano.

Ursula/Divine
Flamboyant drag performer Divine inspired the look of Ursula the Sea-Witch for "The Little Mermaid" (1989).

Pocahontas/Irene Bedard
The beautiful Native American actress and singer was both the vocal and visual inspiration for Pocahontas (1995).

Snow White/Margaret Champion
In addition to modeling the lead in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves," Champion also worked on "Pinocchio" (1940) and "Fantasia" (1940).

Justin Timberlake Joins Exclusive Group Of Successful Soloists

$
0
0

JT becomes just the sixth artist to have tallied at least two Billboard 200 No. 1s each in a group and as a soloist. And, half the list consists of Beatles.

As previously reported, Justin Timberlake's third solo album, "The 20/20 Experience," debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 968,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The sum is the largest for any album this year and the best of the former 'N Sync member's solo career.

Another way to frame Timberlake's success? He's just the sixth artist in the Billboard 200's 57-year history to notch multiple No. 1 albums both with a group and as a soloist. And, half of those six are Beatles, meaning Timberlake is in some truly Fab company.

Here's a look at the select six superstar artists to top the Billboard 200 more than once both as group members and on their own:

Paul McCartney
McCartney scored a record 19 No. 1s with the Beatles (between 1964 and 2001) and seven with his group Wings; of those latter seven, two were billed to McCartney, two to Paul and Linda McCartney and three to Paul McCartney & Wings. His 1982 No. 1 "Tug of War" remains the last solo album by a Beatle to rule the chart.

John Lennon
In addition to his astonishing 19 No. 1s with the Fab Four, Lennon logged three leaders on his own, one each credited to himself, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and John Lennon & Yoko Ono (the lattermost set serving as his swan song, 1980's eight-week No. 1 "Double Fantasy.")

George Harrison
Harrison likewise augmented his 19 Billboard 200 toppers with multiple solo No. 1s: 1970's "All Things Must Pass" and 1973's "Living in the Material World."

Eminem
Since the No. 2-peaking "The Slim Shady LP" introduced the rapper in 1999, he's yet to miss the Billboard 200 summit with a solo album, notching six No. 1s from 2000's "The Marshall Mathers LP" through 2010's "Recovery."Perhaps overshadowed are his two No. 1s as part of D12: the rap collective reigned in 2001 with "Devil's Night" and in 2004 with "D12 World." (His one entry as half of Bad Meets Evil, 2011's "Hell: The Sequel (EP)," also hit No. 1.)

Beyonce
Destiny's Child crowned the Billboard 200 with 2001's "Survivor" and 2005's best-of "#1's."Beyonce's four studio solo albums, meanwhile, have all topped the chart: "Dangerously in Love" (2003), "B'Day" (2006) "I Am…Sasha Fierce" (2008) and "4" (2011).

Justin Timberlake
JT joins the list upon the arrival of "The 20/20 Experience," as his previous solo set, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," led for two weeks in 2006. (His first solo album, 2002's "Justified," debuted and peaked at No. 2.) As a member of mega boy band 'N Sync, he led with "No Strings Attached" in 2000 and "Celebrity" in 2001.

Honorable mention, too, to Eric Clapton. He never notched multiple No. 1s with the same group but did dominate once each with Blind Faith and Cream before posting three solo No. 1s in 1974-94. (He also debuted as recently as last week at No. 7 with his new album "Old Sock.")

Perhaps just as intriguing as the exclusive list of six acts that have topped the Billboard 200 more than once both with a group (or duo) and solo is the list of superstar acts that haven't, despite enviable success both as band members and on their own.

Michael Jackson, for instance, scored six solo No. 1s but, perhaps surprisingly, the Jackson 5/Jacksons never rose higher than No. 4 with any of their albums. (i'm surprised tbh)

The Supremes rung up three No. 1s, but Diana Ross led only with 1972's "Lady Sings the Blues" soundtrack. Had 1980's No. 2-peaking "Diana" climbed one spot higher, she'd be included. Similarly, Simon & Garfunkel garnered three No. 1s in 1966-68, while Paul Simon has peaked with the 1975 No. 1 "Still Crazy After All These Years" and 1973 No. 2 "There Goes Rhymin' Simon." And, while not quite strictly a group/solo comparison, Dave Grohl reached No. 1 four times with Nirvana and once with Foo Fighters, while the latter group has also scored a No. 2-peaking effort.

Creedence Clearwater led with two albums, in 1969-70, but John Fogerty hit No. 1 only once on his own, with 1985's "Centerfield." Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young released three No . 1 albums in 1970-74, but Neil Young added a lone solo leader with 1972's "Harvest." And, Fleetwood Mac posted four No. 1s between 1975 and 1997, but its only solo topper by a band member is Stevie Nicks' 1981 album "Bella Donna."

Other notable acts missing the cut (so far, in the cases of relatively more recent acts): the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson … the Black Eyed Peas/Fergie … Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne … Chicago/Peter Cetera … Commodores/Lionel Richie … Eagles/Don Henley, Glenn Frey … Genesis/Phil Collins … Go-Go's/Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin … Journey/Steve Perry … the Judds/Wynonna … Led Zeppelin/Jimmy Page, Robert Plant … matchbox twenty/Rob Thomas … the Miracles/Smokey Robinson … New Edition/Bell Biv DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant … Pink Floyd/David Gilmour, Roger Waters … the Police/Sting … and the Rolling Stones/Mick Jagger.

And, of course, Ringo Starr. Not only is he the only Beatle without multiple solo No. 1 albums, he's also never netted even one, climbing to a career-best No. 2 as a soloist with 1973's "Ringo."

But again, surely softening the blow are the 19 times he got by all competition with a little help from his friends in the Beatles.

Sara Bareilles Announces New Single 'Brave'& 18 City Tour!

Sara Bareilles has announced her return to the music scene with her new single “Brave” and an eighteen city tour for this spring!

The song will be the first single off the 33-year-old singer’s upcoming untitled album, set to be released this summer. “Brave” will be released on April 23 and the Brave Enough tour will kick off on April 25!

It will be her first full-length album since 2010′s chart-topper Kaleidoscope Heart.
Since then, Bareilles appeared as a judge on NBC’s singing competition, “The Sing-Off,” and released a documentary, “A Trace of the Sun: Volunteering in Japan,” about her time in Japan with relief-effort team All Hands Volunteer following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Last year, she released an EP, “Once Upon Another Time,” produced by Ben Folds.
Recorded in Los Angeles and New York with producers including John O’Mahony (Coldplay, Metric) and Mark Endert (Fiona Apple, The Fray, Train), this album will continue to display Sara’s signature voice and stellar songwriting.

“I have never felt more open and more raw in my entire life. 2012 was a year of deconstruction for me personally,” said Bareilles. “I have been confronting some of my greatest fears in the last handful of months and have been amazed at how empowered I can feel when I muster up the courage to turn and growl back at those monsters under the bed. The songs on this album are a true reflection of everything I’ve come to experience in recent months and I'm going to celebrate that with the next most terrifying thing I can do…go back on the road…totally alone. Just me. And my piano. And maybe a guitar. And some whiskey. And some jokes. And my songs. I’m excited to share this next stage of my career with each and every one of my fans.”

5 'Teen Wolf' Season Three Teases!

$

0

Teen Wolf fans are a patient pack. After all, MTV has conditioned us to wait a full year between seasons, but given how absolutely sensational season two was, it's easy to understand why the wait for season three has felt particularly painful.

So, with just a little over three months until Teen Wolf rips back onto television, ETonline hit up the set (no, I will not give you the location) to chat with the stars and creator, Jeff Davis. And while you'll have to wait a little longer to read all our interviews with Dylan O'Brien, Tyler Posey, Holland Roden and some other special guests, I wanted to give you a little taste of what's to come, so check out five teases from Beacon Hills' big brain, Jeff Davis!

A Fast "Four"ward
When the action resumes, it will have been four months since the deadly events of the season finale, and according to Davis, the time-jump was not planned solely as a result of Colton Haynes exiting the series. "It's a bit of a reset button," he tells ETonline. "I don't want to write the scenes where they're all struggling to get over the drama, I want to pick back up during the fun. We wanted to start a new story, and we also wanted to come in on the first episode showing changes in all the characters."

Scott's New (Mc)Calling
"One of the great things about Scott this season is he's got a new resolve this season," Davis tells me. "In the first episode, he says to his mom, 'I'm going to be a better son, a better friend, a better everything.' He's trying to become a better person for Allison, so when she comes back to him, he will be the best possible version of himself."

Decidedly Darker
While it's always scored in the comedy department, Teen Wolf is first and foremost a drama -- and in season three, all the characters will have to confront some pretty dark choices. "I think the tone has changed a bit this season -- we go pretty dark," Jeff says. "Episode 6 [titled Motel California] turned out to be one of our darkest episodes. We push the characters to the brink in that episode. It's our ode to The Shining, but it also deals with the characters coming to very difficult decisions about themselves and their future. What's interesting is that while it's much darker, it's also one of our funniest episodes. We still are able to find the funny in a lot of this drama. It's like Hitchcock’s Frenzy. That's one of his darkest movies, but it's also one of his funniest. It's a hard balance to find, but I think this season is in keeping with our overall tone."

Gay Payoff
While Teen Wolf fans have been 'shipping Sterek for two years, an actual gay couple is blossoming this season in Beacon Hills as one of the twin Alphas (played by Charlie and Max Carver) begins dating Danny (played by Keahu Kahuanui). And according to Jeff, there will be some only-on-cable scenes between the boys."I can't say we go to Spartacus levels, but their sex scenes are treated just like any other sex scenes you've seen on our show." Which is the key, in Jeff's mind, to approaching gay characters on television. "I've always thought that if you present this idealized world where young gay men and women are no different from anyone else, and it's not really questioned by the other characters, maybe life starts to imitate art and you begin to see that in the real world."

Unlocking the Clues To Derek's Past
By now, all Teen Wolf fans know that season three will feature a flashback episode to Derek's childhood -- but did you know there will also be a second flashback episode this season? "Episode 5 is also a flashback episode -- but not in the sense that it flashes back to younger characters, it's more like Pulp Fiction in the way we bounce around in time," Davis tells me. "It's one of our most ambitious episodes ever!"

Teen Wolf premieres June 3 at 10 p.m. on MTV. Plus, Jeff Davis, Dylan O'Brien and Tyler Posey will be talking Teen Wolf on March 30 at WonderCon!

The 25 Biggest First-Week Album Sales in Music History.

$
0
0
After taking a seven-year hiatus from the music business, Justin Timberlake crooned his way back to the Billboard charts this week, selling a whopping 968,000 copies of The 20/20 Experience in its first week of release. Those numbers make it one of the fastest-selling records of all time, or more accurately, since Soundscan started tracking sales in 1991.

The feat got us thinking about other impressive opening weeks, like Taylor Swift's recent streak of dominance, or that time N Sync's sophomore LP went double platinum during its first seven days of availability. Keep in mind that albums like Eminem's The Eminem Show and Whitney Houston's soundtrack for The Bodyguard sold over a million copies in weeks other than their first. We're only talking about projects that sold massively out the gate.

These are The 25 Biggest First-Week Album Sales in Music History.

N Sync, No Strings Attached: 2,416,000

Release Date: 3/21/2000

The boy band pandemonium surrounding 'N Sync began in 1997 with the release of their self-titled debut album. Three years later, the group released their second effort, No Strings Attached, and the album sold 2.4 million copies in its first week, setting a record that has yet to be broken. Despite fierce competition from the Backstreet Boys, this N Sync's claim to the boy band throne. No Strings Attached was eventually certified seven-times platinum.

i remember going to the wiz to get millennium and nsa on the first day they came out. lawd those were the days <3

N Sync, Celebrity: 1,880,000

Release Date: 7/24/2001

N Sync hasn't released an album in over a decade, and there's still no artist who can best their first-week sales. It was on their third and final album, Celebrity, that Timberlake emerged as the soulful lead singer, leading him into his own solo career. But before the five members split ways, Celebrity dropped to massive fanfare before being certified five-times platinum.

Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP: 1,760,000

Release Date: 5/23/2000

The Slim Shady LP made Eminem a pop star and set the stage for the release of his highly anticipated follow-up. Like "My Name Is," first single "The Real Slim Shady" sparked controversy for calling out the teen idols like Christina Aguilera and 'N Sync. Eminem offered an angry middle-finger waving alternative to the top acts of the day, and fans showed up in droves. There really were a million of us who dressed like him, cursed like him, and just didn't give a fuck like him.

Backstreet Boys, Black & Blue: 1,591,000

Release Date: 11/21/2000

Black & Blue broke an international sales record, selling over five million copies worldwide in its first week. It was the last Backstreet Boys effort during the era of boy bands, and it was the first album on which a majority of the songwriting was done by the artists themselves. BSB became the first group in Soundscan history to sell over a million first-week copies with back-to-back albums.

Britney Spears, Oops!...I Did It Again: 1,319,000

Release Date: 3/27/2000

Britney had already set sales records with her debut, ...Baby One More Time, the previous year; the album went double platinum within a month, on the strength of the title track's pop chart performance. A few months after that, she graced the cover of Rolling Stone with an iconic, controversial, and provocative photo. In Summer 1999, she toured North America, recorded a new album, and then went overseas, appearing on TV and touring in Europe. With so much lead-up to her sophomore album's release, the record sold 1.3 million copies in its first week, and remains the highest one-week sales numbers for a female artist.

Fifth Harmony megapost!

It's only been a few months since Fifth Harmony appeared on "X Factor," but they're already hard at work on their debut album.
"Post-'X Factor' it's been pretty crazy," Ally Brooke told MTV News on the red carpet at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday. "We had a little bit of time to go home and rest and relax and now we're in L.A. together, working on our album. We've been songwriting together, doing a lot of different tracks. We've been recording almost every single day and it's been phenomenal."
The ladies described the album's sound as "definitely pop," adding that they hope to have a single out "in the next few months."
In addition to One Direction producer Julian Bunetta, they've also enlisted the help of Ali Tamposi (Kelly Clarkson) and Toby Gad and Sam Watters (Jordin Sparks) to help craft tunes for the release.
"We've been writing a lot, which is exciting," Camila Cabello said. "It's new for us and we've been learning a lot from all these amazing people that we've been working with. [It's] so many people that you look at the work they've done and you're like 'Oh my god! Why are you working with us?' "
While no release date has been set for the Syco Music debut, the ladies do know what they want to convey on it: unity. Even though the girls never intended on being a group — they were thrown together on "X Factor" last season — musically they feel they have gelled as one. "We hope to make an album that inspired us as artists because we feel like we've become Fifth Harmony," Cabello explained.
When MTV News spoke to Bunetta last month about hitting the studio with the fivesome, he revealed what he hopes to capture on their debut album. "I would hope that every girl would just put it on, when they're getting ready to go out or when they're in their car going somewhere and they just want to have a great time," he told MTV News. "That's what I want this album to be."

A Lindsay Lohan sitcom?

$
0
0
One of the creators of “Sex and the City,” Michael Patrick King, is said to have reached out to Lohan to appear in his new CBS show “Two Broke Girls,” in a guest-starring role. She would play some variation on her wild girl image, trading vicious barbs with the two stars of the series, Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings.

If the thing comes about — that is, if she says yes and shows up and knows her lines — King is even mulling creating a show around Lindsay, with her again playing off her real-life image, much like her friend Charlie Sheen did in “Two and a Half Men.”

All this is in the talking stages. No word if Lindsay has even gotten back to King, since she has other things on her mind right now. I think it would be an amusing idea, if she was really acting, rather than acting out.

Maybe rehab and a steady job on TV are just what the doctor ordered. She could regain her beauty and her talent and her popularity with just a little luck and a lot of determination. Despite all the haters on the blogosphere, Americans love to forgive the stars they’ve built up and then torn down.

Kathy Griffin Rips Kendall & Kylie Jenner: "Finish Your Words Moron!"

No one is safe from Kathy’s razor sharp wit, and the comedienne ripped into the Jenner sisters, calling one of the teen sensations a “moron!”

“There are two other Kardashians waiting in the wings right to be groomed?” the Silver Fox queried. Kathy takes the bait and launches into a hysterical tirade against 17-year-old Kendall and 15-year-old Kylie.

“Yes, so Kendall and Francine or whatever their names are. They are just multiplying; look they are both like eight feet tall. They are both models.”

Anderson asks how old Kim Kardashian’s little sisters are and Kathy jokes: “They are like 11 or 40. I can’t really tell anymore but they are tall. One of them came up to me, I run into everyone from my act it’s a nightmare for them, for me it’s fun but for them it is, and then I ran into two of them at some concert and then either Kendall or Francine goes, ‘My name isn’t Francine, stop saying that on TV. Whatevs, obvi.”

“I am like finish your word you moron, finish your word, whatevs, obvi, totes.”

'Criminal Minds' Shemar Moore: 'I'm not allowed to get a girlfriend'

$

Zap2it: Since "Criminal Minds" is about FBI profilers chasing criminals, how much time can be devoted to the characters' personal lives?

Shemar Moore: In the real world of FBI profilers, you've only got 72 hours to stop a serial killer or a criminal. So there's no time for hanky-panky, and there's no time to sit down and have a beer and see the private lives of our characters. But every so often, the show has been good about giving us some storylines to where you really see our characters affected or what they're about outside the job.

Zap2it: Your character, FBI Agent Derek Morgan, has a playful, platonic flirtation with quirky technical analyst Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) -- but so far it hasn't tipped over into romance. What do you think about that?

Shemar Moore: I wouldn't want them to [have a romance]. Nothing against Kirsten; I love Kirsten. It would take the magic away. Once you consummate the relationship, once we start playing kissy-face, laying in bed on purpose -- where do you go from there? I just think the big-brother/little-sister, that kind of love affair, with the one-liners and the pet names ... it's a lot more interesting that the big, tough guy has a weak spot for the nerdy little computer tech.

Zap2it: What's up with Derek's love life?

Shemar Moore: I've had two girlfriends in eight years, and they lasted about two-and-a-half episodes. It's OK for Penelope Garcia to get goofy Kevin as a boyfriend, but I'm not allowed to get a girlfriend, because then I'm cheating on Garcia.

Britney Spears' new boyfriend has signed a confidentiality agreement.

britney-spears-x-factor-3

The Scream & Shout singer - who split from her fiance Jason Trawick in January - had her new love interest David Lucado undergo a background check and sign a non-disclosure contract before agreeing to go out with him despite being set up by her father and legal guardian Jamie Spears.

A source told gossip website RadarOnline: 'Jamie has known David for awhile, and always thought he was a thoughtful, and an all-around good guy. Britney needed someone to keep her company after she and Jason [Trawick] broke up.

'It had to be a male, because Britney just doesn't respond as well to females. And remember, she is still under a conservatorship. Before David started spending time with Brit, he had to undergo a background check, and sign a confidentiality agreement, all arranged by Papa Spears. Jamie makes sure if things go south between Jamie and Britney, details about her life wouldn't be made public. David had absolutely no problem with it, and completely understood why it was being done.'

The 31-year-old singer - who shares sons Sean Preston, seven, and Jayden James, six, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline - has been spotted on several romantic outings with David, who works at a prestigious law firm in Southern California, recently. [source]

Radar Online and the Daily Fail? Sounds like some bullshit to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was indeed cherry picked and had to go through some hoops.

I want you to love her <3

FEMME ON FIRE: KERLI
by Vanessa Butler

kerli

She’s one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but you’ve probably never heard her name. Growing up in the final years of the Soviet Occupation in Estonia, Kerli knew that there was something bigger (and more colorful) out there for her. Determined to find it, she began entering herself in singing competitions which ultimately landed her a record deal in 2006 with Island Records. Her first album, Love Is Dead, charted on the Billboard 200. She was then featured on the companion album to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Almost Alice, and wrote the hit “Skyscraper” for former Disney girl Demi Lovato. Kerli hasn’t let the L.A. lifestyle go to her head; she continues to hand-make almost all her outfits, leading to the press constantly pointing out the quirky similarities she shares with Lady Gaga. But Kerli has no big-name designers fashioning her look, just her army of her online followers, who she lovingly refers to as “Moon Children.”

We caught up with Kerli to talk about her recently released EP Utopia while she lay in bed eating waffles after a long night of working on new material.

Playboy.com: I read somewhere that you are really involved in all of your music videos, which is something that isn’t heard of that often lately. What parts are you involved in?
Kerli: I usually write the treatment, like I sketch the characters and I hand-make pretty much all of the outfits. So when it is a fantastical video, which is more like my videos are, there’s usually a lot of DIY involved. I love to think of things to put in my videos that don’t exist in the real world.

Playboy.com: How important do you feel that fashion is in music?
Kerli: I like things to make sense with the music, so when I have a really simple song like my last single, “The Lucky Ones,” every over-the-top fantasy concept or outfit ideas that I tried to come up with just felt really forced. So I like when it really complements the music. To me it’s not about wearing cool and trendy outfits, it’s about creating an experience.

Playboy.com: There’s a real difference between your new EP Utopia and Love Is Dead. What’s the inspiration behind Utopia? What were you going through while you were writing it? Kerli: It’s really funny because it’s already in the name. That’s what was going on! Love was dead, and now…utopia. My last album I wrote over several years when I was a teenager. I was in a really bad place. A lot of people who liked the last album felt that they could relate to the pain, but nobody wants to live like that forever. So for the past four years I’ve been doing a lot of spiritual work on myself and just have chosen happiness. I think happiness is a full-time job. This EP is about finding heaven on earth and what it was like finding this really positive place.

Playboy.com: You seem like a spiritual person. What are your beliefs?
Kerli: I believe in so many things. Since I was 17 years old I’ve been studying so many different religions, and I don’t think that I’ve found one which I want to totally commit to because I’m not really sure if I totally believe in organized religion. But I believe that love really matters. Trying to be a good person and give as much love as you can and receive as much love as you can. Have a great time while you’re here on earth. And I feel that the more I learn, the more I start to realize that it’s all about the simple things.

Playboy.com: Speaking of love, you went back to Estonia to film your video “Army of Love.” What was that experience like?
Kerli: It was crazy; all of the dancers that were in the video and some local designers as well just showed up to help out. We tried to really encourage other artists in that country because I’m hoping that one day we can also have our own serious music scene, which is something I feel that Estonians are already known for. We’re tapping into the dance scene a little bit, actually. There are a few people coming out of Estonia that are touring Finland and all over Europe. There’s another band named Ewert and the Two Dragons who have yet to come to America, but they’re kind of like Foster the People. They’re incredibly talented and they’ve been a band for years!

Playboy.com: Tell us about Bubble Goth.
Kerli: It was actually a review for my old album, which was very alternative for a pop label, but of course people want to dismiss you when you’re a girl and you’re young and you’re blonde. So there was a reviewer that had written something like, “I don’t know why everybody is saying she’s Goth, if anything she’s Bubble Goth.” And I was like, oh, this is so perfect! So one of the videos that I’m working on now I’m going to try and define what exactly Bubble Goth is. It’s just about taking really cute elements and darker elements and putting them together in a nice, complementing way.

Playboy.com: What has been the most interesting place you’ve traveled to?
Kerli: I just came back from Brazil. It was my first time and my first show ever there, and there’s a lot of Brazilian Moon Children. I did a meet-up one day in the park and there were like 500 Moon Children there. We spent about four hours together. The way that they love you is so passionate. The whole country and the culture, it’s just so incredible. I’m so in love with the place and I can’t wait to go back.

Playboy.com: What’s your favorite concert memory?
Kerli: It was probably at the big Independence Day Festival in Estonia. Estonians are very laid back people, they’re not big into the whole fist-pumping thing, so a lot of bands are really relaxed when they played there. So at the end I decided to sing an old Estonian song that means a lot to the country, backed with a symphony orchestra, and when I started singing the first note of the song, all 70,000 people there were all sitting on the hill, and as I started singing the Estonian song everybody on the hill slowly started standing up. That was just a breathtaking moment. It gave me chills but for the whole time I was thinking, “Oh my god, I better not fuck up.” [laughs] “If I mess up some of these lyrics they’re going to hate me forever!”

Playboy.com: In your opinion, what’s the strangest song you’ve written?
Kerli: Well, the strangest song, the world hasn’t heard. I have a studio in my house so I do a lot of weird soundscape-y stuff with just the vocals.

Playboy.com: Lightning round. What’s your favorite:

City: All of them!

Drink: Peppermint and lemongrass tea.

Food: Sushi.

Guilty pleasure: Watching TV shows like Girls.

Embarrassing moment: When I was giving an interview four years ago when I was releasing my new album, I thought, “You know what? I’m not going to be one of those boring artists so I’m going to write a poem to introduce myself.” And the journalist calls me and was like, “So tell me about yourself,” and I read him the poem. After I was done he just was silent.

Worst pickup line: Oh, yesterday was a funny pickup situation. I was pulling four big bags of groceries up my stairs and this guy stopped his car and yelled, “Do you need help? Please tell me you need help.” And I was like, “Uh, okay,” so he helped me carry my groceries to my gate. And I stopped him there. He then said, “So, do you want to go swimming or something?” and I just said no and ran in.

Playboy.com: What’s on the horizon for you?
Kerli: You know, I always used to do this thing where I’d tell myself, “This is my year! This is my year!” But this year I didn’t do that because I’m in a place right now where I don’t even really care so much about that stuff. I care about what I do as a human being on earth. So I’m trying to have quality time and fun and collaborate with amazing artists and have shows!
