Niall Horan from 1D + Simon Cowell were gleeful Bradley Walsh outsold Zayn Malik

0
0

Bradley Walsh, host of UK gameshow the Chase, just found out he had the best-selling British debut album in the UK last year and was the only debut album to go gold in 2016. It beat British Asian Zayn's debut in the UK, which, according to an interview Walsh did with the Guardian, shocked Walsh and filled Zayn's former bandmate + former record boss Niall Horan + Simon Cowell with glee “I just laughed when I found out,” he says. “I thought it was hysterical. I am probably the oldest new artist Sony has ever signed. Niall Horan (Zayn’s former bandmate) was sending me messages, laughing his head off. And I got big congratulations from Simon Cowell. He thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Suffice to say because of all this Zayn is one of the UK's most hated celebs, with Brits voting him the 3rd celeb they most wouldn't want their kids to like (Kanye West is #1).
By contrast they rated his former bandmate Harry Styles as the 2nd top good influence.

the FCC received complaints about Madonna's Speech at the Women's March

0

Madonna delivered an anti-Trump speech at the Women's March in D.C last month. Apparently some conservatives weren't thrilled and filed formal complaints.

the part of Madonna's speech that angered conservatives the most was the following quote:

“It took this horrific moment of darkness to wake us the f*** up,” the pop star said. The speech continued on CNN and MSNBC, and almost exactly two minutes later, she added, “to our detractors, that insist that this march will never add up to anything: f*** you. F*** you!”

and when she said during her song "Human Nature"
"Donald Trump, Suck a Dick!"

some of the complaints:
My son heard it and continued around the house saying the word,” one individual from Derry, N.H., wrote, questioning how the FCC is not fining the network a “huge sum” for a “lack of decency and understanding that young children might be listening to what they air.”

a woman from Birmingham, Ala., wrote to the FCC saying that Madonna:
“is known for using expletives and both networks should have made previsions like tape delay.”

Madonna has not issued an apology to the president.

Zhang Yimou Refutes Racist Claims

0
0

The most expensive film ever shot entirely in China, "The Great Wall", has drawn criticisms for it's controversial casting of a certain white daemon as it's lead inspite of it featuring many top tier asian visuals like next gen Sex God Eddie Peng, up coming IT girl Jing Tian and Luhan of Exodus fame.

Many armchair critics argue that Damon’s role should have gone to an Asian actor, others were offended that a western character was the heroic protagonist – here to save China from the beasts.

Addressing such criticisms with frustration, critically accalimed director and master of art and visuals Zhang Yimou sighed and said:

"The idea that he [Damon] stole an Asian or Chinese actor’s role is preposterous ... We were never intending to cast a Chinese person in that role. And then the idea that it is only white heroes … that’s preposterous too. The idea is an individual hero from the West and a group of heroes from China, and how they learn from each other and they are able to help each other to defeat the monsters. There’s none of this ‘White heroes are better than Chinese heroes’ or ‘Replacing Chinese actors with white actors’."

Some stuff about the plot:

  • The idea behind the film was that the Great Wall was built to protect the world from ravenous beasts aka the Tao Tei

  • The Tao Tei resurges every 60 year and they represents greed

  • Some white people came into the picture cause they are greedy and want to teal gunpowder

Some fun facts:

  • The Tao Tei was actually the symbol of China before the dragon

  • They took six months to design the Tao Tei. In Zhang' words, "It’s not an alien lifeform from outer space. It had to be something that comes from organisms on Earth."

  • Film was not shot on the real Great Wall but rather two replicas, running to more than 200 meters each in length, built in a studio

So there you go. Stop letting your assumptions about the film distract you from the visual experience that Zhang Yimou will deliver.

Disclaimer: I'm not white. Never watched a Matt Damon film in my life aside from this. I'm just here to defend Zhang Yimou and urge people to see more of my culture on the silver screen. As a Chinese person, I think the benefits of seeing Chinese culture in Hollywood far outweighs all the criticisms made against the film (even if the criticisms are about how problematic it is to think that Americans need a white protagonist in order to be interested, which is actually very true).

ps. Luhan was also cute AF in the film. He had a pretty big role!

Trolls bash Liam Payne in group chat, he catches them in the act

0

Last night the 1D fandom was in uproar after it came to light a few unruly fans were bashing Liam Payne in a group DM on twitter. Only problem was one of them, having a Liam follow, added him to the group. And since Liam stays woke, he spied in on the convo and called them out.

In true troll fashion, the girls switched it up fast when Liam started speaking. Suddenly they loved him to death and can't wait for his music!

troll: I refuse to be nice to the female rat he associates with or not call him a flop

Liam: Shall we stop with the mean shit now maybe?

One of the girls tried defending herself on her twitter. Failed.

Tumblr caught wind of this and a flood of posts came forward in defense of Liam. "It’s like the urge to attack Liam stems from some deeply rooted fucked up complex and it is getting grossly out of hand."

For about 5 minutes there was discussion of getting a supportive trend for him going on twitter. Never happened :( Rumor is that these girls had the group chat going for about a year, hence the comment Liam made, "I've been in here ages." In the end Liam never blocked any of the girls or called them out publicly.

Lindsay Lohan claims she was racially profiled and thinks people should stop picking on Trump

0
0

"I got stopped recently and was racially profiled," Lindsay Lohan stated while appearing on Good Morning Britain this morning.

She continued by stating that it wasn't until the agent opened her passport and saw the name Lindsay Lohan that they started apologizing. By that time she had already removed the headscarf that she was wearing and was shocked by the request.

"I'm from New York," she continued. "I was born and raised there."

When asked why she was wearing the headscarf she talked about how Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn used to wear them all the time. She mentioned that while she was not wearing it for religious purposes it was a combination of out of respect from the country she was traveling from and also so that she wasn't recognized because her red hair gives her away.

"What scared me was that moment how would another woman who doesn't feel comfortable taking off her headscarf feel," she said. "That was really interesting to me."

While Lindsay danced around answering the question about if she was converting to Islam or not she mentioned that she does study the Quran but also that she studies other religions. She also mentioned that she considers her Arab friends a family and that she would like to communicate better with children she's been working with in Syria. Things then switched over to Piers Morgan talking about how Lindsay has been supportive of Trump.

"I don't agree with his policies and things that he's doing," she answered. "But at the end of the day he is the President right now. So what's the point in picking on someone instead of letting... seeing what they're capable of."

When asked if she thinks the "hysteria is overplayed" Lohan responded with, "I think so... people are making it overly dramatic." While she does think that his Twitter should be taken away she urges people "not to kick someone when they're down".

Karrueche Gets Restraining Order Against Chris Brown, Says He Threatened to Kill Her

0
0

Earlier in the month, Karrueche told a judge that Chris told people he was going to shoot her. He said he was going to "take her out" and told friends that "if he can't have her then no one else can". Chris also threatened to harm her friends and even recently attacked one of them.

Karrueche says a few years ago Chris punched her in the stomach twice and pushed her down the stairs. At that time, he was still on probation from his prior domestic abuse case. Karrueche thinks that he's putting action behind his words which is why she got the order.

The order states he must stay 100 m away from Karrueche, her mom and her brother.
