Alicia Keys wears makeup for the first time in almost a year in Allure photo shoot
#ICYMI: @AliciaKeys is our February cover star! https://t.co/QVBmuSWCbvpic.twitter.com/yQI0ZJ6iV3
— Allure (@Allure_magazine) January 17, 2017
Last year Alicia Keys wrote an essay discussing why she was no longer going to wear makeup.
After almost a year, she chose to wear makeup for an Allure magazine cover shoot.
Quotes:
“I’m not a slave to makeup. I’m not a slave to not wearing makeup either. I get to choose at [any] given moment. That’s my right.”
“I think makeup can be self-expression. I have no intention to shame anyone at all [who chooses to wear it]. No one should be ashamed by the way you choose to express yourself. And that’s exactly the point. However, if you want to do that for yourself, you should do that.”
“I am all about a woman’s right to choose. I think a woman should do anything she wants as it relates to her face, her body, her health. Whatever mode of expression that empowers you, that’s what you should do. What I am not down for is this ridiculously high, unrealistic expectation about appearance that we as women are held to.”
"I expect to continue to use my voice for things that matter ... It's time for all of us to be engaged."—@AliciaKeyshttps://t.co/rY87FalSa9pic.twitter.com/dQr3GbxXom

Chelsea Handler says Kardashians are to blame for Trump's win and that Kanye needs to get on meds
Inside our #inauguration issue: On the eve of Trump's inauguration, Hollywood and the media raise their voices https://t.co/Kcnj9aShVQpic.twitter.com/cPf2VInDzX
— Variety (@Variety) January 18, 2017
Chelsea Handler, Lena Dunham, Brandon Victor Dixon, Van Jones, and Michael Moore are on the cover of Variety's Inauguration Issue.
In her essay, Chelsea Handler blames the Kardashians for Donald Trump's win, stating that the election turned into a reality show and that the Kardashians, individuals who are for sale and won't go away because of constant coverage, helped to put a reality star like Trump into the White House.
Chelsea Handler also thinks that Kanye West should go on his meds, and she thinks that Megyn Kelly is a badass.
In her essay, Lena Dunham lists 7 ways that you can fight for women's reproductive rights.
In the issue, Omarosa, Billy Eichner, Rachel Maddow, Bill Maher, Dr. Phil, Scott Baio, Dan Rather, Glenn Beck, and Stephen Baldwin also contribute essays in which they reflect on Trump's win.
