Joanna Newsom's Larry King interview + Colbert performance

Kurt Russell Doesn't Agree with Tougher Gun Control

0
0

In an interview to promote his new Quentin Tarantino movie, The Hateful Eight, Kurt Russell shared his thoughts on stricter gun control. He doesn't agree with it.

"If you think gun control is going to change the terrorists’ point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind. I think anybody is. I think it’s absolutely insane."

He went on to say about a possible solution, "Dude, you’re about to find out what I’m gonna do, and that’s gonna worry you a lot more. And that‘s what we need. That will change the concept of gun culture, as you call it, to something [like] reality. Which is, if I’m a hockey team and I’ve got some guy bearing down on me as a goal tender, I’m not concerned about what he’s gonna do — I’m gonna make him concerned about what I’m gonna do to stop him. That’s when things change.”

"They can also make a bomb pretty easily. So what? They can also get knives and stab you. What are you gonna do about that? They can get cars and run you over with them. What are you gonna do about that? What are you gonna do about that? So what are you gonna do? Outlaw everything? That isn’t the answer."

"Put some controls? What, so the people who want to defend themselves can’t?"

Kurt's statement has received support from the NRA, Fox News, and Stacey Dash.

- wanted to interview zayn even when he was in One Direction because he was unique as the only non-white and muslim member of the band
- 1D boys brought him life sized tekken figurines
- seemed to enjoy himself the most when he was by himself
- but also when serving people drinks
- called interviewer 'donuts' cause his name is Duncan (like Dunkin Donuts); is huge fucking idiot
- sent interviewer boxes of thank you donuts for interview; apparently this is 'adorable' and representative of person interviwer hung out with.

"Newsflash: YouTubers are poor!" says Buzzfeed YouTuber

Gaby Dunn from Buzzfeed (yes, the one that was so quick to say Stoya was lying about her good friend James Deen) wrote this thinkpiece about how YouTube mirrors regular economics in how there is now a middle and lower class.

- People like PewDiePie and Grace Helbig make bank, while she has "never had more than a couple thousand dollars in my bank account at once."
- Talks about how a lot of popular YouTubers have trouble paying their bills, because their YouTube fame is disruptive to their other real life job (ex. Rachel Whitehurst had to quit working at Starbucks because fans had memorized her schedule. Now, she is forced to use 15 different sources of income, like endorsements and sponsored posts, to support her lifestyle).
- "
In other words: Many famous social media stars are too visible to have “real” jobs, but too broke not to."
- These people are all struggling despite their internet fame, which then causes a weird shaming cycle. If they do sponsored posts, they lose fans who think they are selling out, but can pay their bills. If they don't sell out, they keep their fans for having integrity and being real, but can't pay their rent.
- Beyond that they can't mention this current struggle on their channels because fans don't want to hear about current struggles, they only want to hear about past struggles and how the vlogger bravely overcame them.
-"
These economic patterns began decades ago, and the “starving artist vs. sellout” paradigm has existed since time immemorial. Countless artists from Van Gogh to Modigliani never got to enjoy their legacy’s fame and fortune. But thankfully, Van Gogh didn’t have to shill for Audible.com to pissed-off fans of his art."

It's sad when you remember this woman has a child. It was only a few months ago she released this statement after being kicked off Celebrity Big Brother for her pro-Hitler comments, "I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible, reckless and selfish actions and I hope that everyone can forgive me for the pain that I may have caused. I want to be a good role model for my daughter because I don't want her to go through what I had to endure. I hope that I will be given a second chance at life to make things right again."

Here are some of her attempts to make things right again while being a good role model to her daughter.

Tom Brady Asked About Possibly Endorsing Donald Trump: 'I Support All My Friends'

0
0

While on WEEI 93.7 with Dennis & Callahan, New England Patriot Tom Brady was asked if he would support Donald Trump for President and he says:

GERRY CALLAHAN: Donald Trump said last week that Tom goes around telling everyone how great he is. He’s using Tom as sort of, to move his popularity forward in Massachusetts. That’s what the story said. So, I’ll ask it one more time, just so it’s clear, just for the record. Are you supporting Donald J. Trump for president in 2016?

TOM BRADY: Can I just stay out of this debate? Donald, he’s a good friend of mine. I’ve known him for a long time. I support all my friends. That’s what I have to say. He’s a good friend of mine. He’s always been so supportive of me, for the last 15 years, since I judged a beauty pageant for him, which was one of the very first things that I did that thought was really cool. That came along with winning the Super Bowl. He’s always invited me to play golf. I’ve always enjoyed his company. I support all my friends in everything they do. I think it’s pretty remarkable what he’s achieved in his life. I mean, going from business, kind of an incredible businessman and then a TV star, and then getting into politics. It’s a pretty different career path. I think that is pretty remarkable.

JOHN DENNIS: Tom, I want to save you here. When you say you support all your friends, that can be interpreted as you are supporting Donald Trump over Ted Cruz, over Hillary Clinton—

CALLAHAN: How do you know he’s not friends with Ted Cruz?

DENNIS: Well, I don’t know, I’m trying to clear the air.

CALLAHAN: Do you have any other friends in the field?

BRADY: This is really important to you guys, huh?

DENNIS: Well, no, but you’re being misquoted. That’s how people will run with that.

ONTD Original: Best Red Carpet Looks of 2015

0

Let's be real, the best part about any premeire or awards show is judging the fashion, and while there have been A LOT of misses (stay tuned for my Part II: Worst Red Carpet Looks of 2015), 2015 has provided us with some looks for the history books. Obviously, this is all subject to interpretation, so post your faves (just be aware that some of them might actually be on the Worst list...)!

Emma Stone - Dior
SAG Awards

 photo emma1_zpsa9pw0wak.jpg

Emma was the red carpet darling of the awards season, I could have picked any of her outfits and she still would have made the "Best" list. I loved this look because it was unexpected and different, and the sheer skirt is classy yet flirty and very age appropriate.

Jenna Dewan Tatum - Carolina Herrera
Golden Globe Awards

Jennifer Lopez - Valentino
Tony Awards

Vanessa Hudgens - Bec & Bridge
InStyle Celebration of The 2016 Golden Globe Awards Season

 photo vanessa_zpshc1xw5qn.jpg

Okay, so this may get me a few haters, but I loved this look. I thought it was appropriate for the event, and I loved the vampy look. And Vanessa's body looks banging, her hair looks good, and Austin looked great on her arm.

Zoe Kravitz - Valentino Sala Bianca Haute Couture
Cannes'Mad Max: Fury Road Premeire

Chrissy Teigen - Zuhair Murad
Academy Awards

 photo chrissy_zpsre1yyckp.jpg

Julianne Moore - Givenchy Couture
Cannes'Mad Max: Fury Road Premeire

 photo julianne_zpsiuqnmkdf.jpg

Like Emma, Julianne had a great awards season wardrobe, however, this Givenchy gown was by far her sexiest, boldest style and color. And thus to me, is her best look.

Rosamund Pike - Dior Couture
SAG Awards

 photo rosamund_zps77yhqkvo.jpg

It was a tough call between Rosamund's Oscar dress and this SAG dress. I eventually chose this one, because if anyone else but Rosamund would have worn it it would have landed them on the worst dress list. Rosamund pulls this off and makes it a sexy unexpected choice. She is wearing the dress, it's not wearing her.

Lily James - Elie Saab
Cinderella LA Premeire

 photo lily_zpsfetrhpv4.jpg

My new fave wore over 20 outfits valued at 300K pounds for the press tour of "Cinderella". But for the LA premiere, she pulled out all the stops.

Rose Byrne - Calvin Klein Collection
Met Ball

 photo rose_zpsjlniawci.jpg

Jennifer Lawrence - Galvan
Met Ball After Party

 photo jlaw_zpstx4ouiht.jpg

Okay, so Jennifer finally started getting some pretty amazing dresses towards the tail end of the "Mockingjay Pt. 2" premieres, but let's be honest, this silver dress might be the best Jennifer has ever looked.

Tessa Thompson - Burberry
Burberry "London in Los Angeles" Event

Lea Seydoux - Prada

Rooney Mara - Rochas
Cate Blanchett - Giles

Cannes'Carol Premiere

It was impossible to find a good picture of both of them with their dresses showcased, but these Red Carpet Style Queens pulled out all the stops for their "Carol" premiere at Cannes. I love that Cate opted for a print, something she usually doesn't do. Can't wait to see what they bring to awards season!

Bill Cosby sues 7 of his accusers

0
0

He claims the women made "malicious, opportunistic and false and defamatory accusations of sexual misconduct against him."

The lawyer who represents the women, Joseph Cammarata, had this to say: "If anyone is surprised by Cosby's actions today, they shouldn't be. He's taken a page out of the defense attorney's playbook in an effort to shift the focus of this legitimate inquiry. It is curious that he has filed a claim only against these seven women, when there are scores of other women who have made similar allegations of sexual abuse and assault against Mr. Cosby."

Attorney Gloria Allred told USA TODAY: "Bill Cosby appears to be going to war against women who have sued him in Massachusetts and who allege that he has victimized them. Although I do not represent the women in that case, I do believe that in general that such a tactic will not deter courageous women from fighting the battle against him."

ONTD Original: 10 Gun Owning Stars

0

Gun ownership and gun regulation is a very popular topic in the United States, especially with gun violence being in the news everyday. As the debate on guns rages on, let us take a look at 10 celebrities who you probably did not know are gun owners:

Chris Pratt

A favorite with conservatives, Chris Pratt has made it clear that he is pro-guns. He revealed that he owns 30 to 40 guns that he keeps stashed in his Washington home, since many of the guns he owns aren't legal in California. Although he is pro-guns, Chris Pratt thinks that there should be background checks before someone purchases a gun, because he fears that a gun could fall into the hands of someone who is mentally ill.

Angelina Jolie

In 2008, humanitarian queen Angelia Jolie revealed that she is a gun owner and she knows how to use guns. The owner of a $400K gun range that her husband Brad Pitt built for her, Angelina said that she owns a gun in order to protect her children from home intruders.

Brad Pitt

Angelia Jolie's husband Brad Pitt also owns guns. He revealed that he's been a gun owner since he was in kindergarten, and received his first shotgun when he was in first grade. When talking about guns, Brad Pitt had this to say: "America is a country founded on guns. It’s in our DNA. It’s very strange, but I feel better having a gun. I really do."

Madonna

In 2013, the gun owning progressive pop star Madonna spoke out in favor of guns, saying "Guns don’t kill people, people kill people."

Jeremy Renner

Sharing the same sentiment as Madonna, gun owning actor Jeremy Renner said "I'm for guns. I own guns and I don't think guns kill people, I think people kill people."

Heidi Montag

Reality TV star Heidi Montag revealed that she owns an arsenal of guns in her California home. She says that owning guns make her feel "proud to be an American." She also went on, saying that "it is one of the greatest rights" as an American.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp owns guns and he has taken his kids out to teach them how to use them on multiple occasions. Talking about taking his kids out to gun ranges, Johnny said "We would just go out and line up a bunch of cans and shoot with rifles, handguns and at times, submachine guns."

Miranda Lambert

Country singer Miranda Lambert revealed that she's a gun owner and has a license to carry a gun after having received a death treat. Miranda said "I got a death threat a few years ago and was really scared. But I don't want bodyguards. I am my own security." She also said "I’m a lifetime member of the NRA."

Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. used to be a gun owner, but he got his guns taken away when he was placed on probation for drug charges. Robert revealed that he would like his guns back, saying "I don’t think I’m allowed to have a gun anymore. They took it. I think I deserve to have it back when my probation is over. It’s not like I did anything with the gun except pretend that I was skilled in its use."

Whoopi Goldberg

In 2012, Whoopi Goldberg revealed that she is a member of the NRA on The View. When asked if she was carrying a gun, she replied "You don’t want to find out."
