PV: The thing that always set you apart from most of your peers was your sense of humor. After all, you were named for a comic book character in The Simpsons.
PW: For us, we always were amazed at how serious rock bands took themselves. We were always back in our hotel rooms laughing, because this is the best job in the world. I mean, you can take your art seriously, but you should never take yourself too seriously. So I think we also had a blessing, going away for three years. It was great for our band, because when we came back, we knew. In reality, it was three years, but it was more like six years because the Internet moves so fast. So we knew that sonically, we had to change, had to make something that reflected that. So you had to understand that the world had moved on, but at the same time be mindful of why people liked Fall Out Boy in the first place. And I think it was a hard process, but [producer] Butch Walker really helped us. And just being able to have people around to bounce ideas off of was really helpful.-
