BANNED SOURCES. Banned sources are listed
on the profile page of this community. Before you start to make a post you should probably check to see if the source is banned or not. The list is up to date and the sites are listed alphabetically. If you have more questions
you can also check out this post and the comments in it. Chances are your answer is in that post.
INSTAGRAM. This is one that we got on a pretty regular basis so I thought I would explain it here even though it usually gets covered in rejection notices. You can embed Instagram posts on Livejournal. Trust me,
it works! The key with this is
you cannot copy / paste Instagram's embed code. If you copy / paste the code it won't work and your post will be rejected since the embeds are broken. In order to get Instagram pots to embed you need to
copy the URL of the post (i.e.
https://instagram.com/p/06SuTXwzMd/)
and paste the URL into the Insert Media tool.
REJECTION NOTICES. If your post has been rejected you will receive a rejection notice. These are automatically sent out by Livejournal so there won't be a case of someone not remembering to send them out. These will got to the email address tied to your account. If you don't see it then it probably went into your spam folder. Please read the rejection notices because they will usually tell you what you need to do to correct your post. Life if you have a rejection notice that tells you your images are broken you can fix the broken images and resubmit ti. If you haven't gotten a rejection notice more than likely it's because your post is still in the queue. Sometimes there are a lot of posts in there and they're usually posted in the order that they're received. There might be quite a few ahead of yours so please don't submit multiple times. If you've read all of this and still think that you're not getting rejection notices for some reason
please contact LJ support and they should be able to help you further.
TAGS. We have a ton of them so please use them! :) A lot of the times there are multiple tags that you can use on a post and this will help not just for people who are tracking certain tags but it will also help avoid reposts. Like
this post should also be using the "film trailer / stills" tag since, you know, it's a trailer. Speaking of tags, despite what certain users have suggested, please do not pester mods for tags. The more you bother us (and no exaggeration we have had users who have messaged us daily about wanting a certain tag in the past) the less likely we'll want to add said tag.
That being said a tag suggestion post will probably be on the horizon so you can suggest away once that is up!LISTS. This is really just a reminder and
not anything new. List posts are limited to five items and you cannot post more than half a list. So if the original list has fifty items, you can post five, if it has six items then you can only post three, if it has five items you can only post two, etc.
Please note this does not apply to ONTD Originals.IMAGES. Currently picture from Imgur are not working on ONTD so please, at least for the time being, don't use them. There are tons of other photo hosting sites out there... Tinypic, Imageshack, Photobucket, etc. etc. you can also use your own LJ.
LISTING SOURCES. Again nothing new here but there seems to be some confusion about this even though it's on the profile page so I thought I would put it here to clarify.
Please use permalink sources when you are posting. A permalink source is not the link to a main page or to a tracked tag but the specific URL where your information comes from. So
http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com is not a permalink source and neither is
http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/tag/mod post but
http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/91868330.html is. Y
our sources should be listed outside of the cut and easily identifiable as a source. If you just have a linked "x" at the bottom of your post that's not easily identifiable and neither is "S O U R C E" with each character being a different source link.
If you use multiple sources we should eb able to tell that with a quick glance that doesn't require hovering over links.BE NICE. You don't have to like everyone here and you don't have to agree with them either but please don't get personal and start attacking one another.
If someone is getting nasty with you let a mod know. If you start flinging insults back at them chances are you're both going to get banned in the process. It seems that we always have to go over this but it is what it is. Calling another member a cunt is personal attack... calling one of the celebrities someone is posting about a cunt is not. It is possible to get in even a pretty intense argument / disagreement with someone without resorting to personal attacks and name calling.
OT COMMENTS. We have Free For Alls on a regular basis. Going OT, especially on the first page of comments on a post, is super rude and not to mention against the rules (this also seems to happen a lot in death posts for some reason which is just tacky on top of everything else). If it happens once in a while that's one thing but there are some people who do it constantly and often within minutes of a post going up so just don't (never mind that no one actually cares that you bought a new nail polish or that a stranger smiled at you today while you were commuting).
HAVE FUN. It's why we're here, isn't it? This post is really just a lot of friendly reminders and a few helpful hints to make your experience a little more pleasant and run smoother. Not everything is all serious business all the time. Enjoy yourselves! If you feel a little too worked up about something take a break for a few! Feel free to reach out to us if you have an issue... it's why we're here! :D
Thank you for your time!
