    Ready for some truly intense anime?

    For the unfamiliar, SBY2199 is a 2012 reimaging of the original 1974 series we in the west know as "Star Blazers." The updated show featured a vastly improved storyline, many more women, a mystical element and a deep look into Gamilias society. It's an improvement over the original in every way.

    Anyway, "The Ark In Space" is a two hour movie is set between episodes 24 and 25 of the original "Space Battleship Yamato 2199," which would be before the final fight with Dessla. This is a common trick. The "Cowboy Bebop" movie was also set between two episodes of the original series. It was just released in Japan and should be headed west soon.

    Here, it's a three-way fight between the Gamilas, the Yamato and the Comet Empire. Due to the events of the series, there is no more combat between Gamilas and Yamato, so they fight together against the Comet Empire. Captain Okita is dying, so Kodai (Wildstar) has taken the lead here. Remember the Magna Flame Gun that tore up the Earth fleet at Saturn? Wait till you see it here.

    "Both River Song and Jack Harkness are massive characters in 'Doctor Who' mythology," he notes. "Their returns would have to be seismic, not routine."
