Ayelet Waldman is the best-selling author of numerous books and failed to make the New York Times'100 Notable Books of 2014 list, an otherwise meaningless list. Waldman felt as if she deserved a spot on the list, however, and instead of just voicing her disappointment, decided to flip her shit and show off some serious entitlement.

Waldman has since deleted most of the tweets because she's probably realized how awful she is but the embedded text is still appearing on Pajiba, so sorry, Waldman!

I am really not dealing well with having failed to make the @nytimes notable book list. Love & Treasure is a fucking great novel IISSM.
    — Ayelet Waldman (@ayeletw) December 2, 2014

I never complain about this shit, but there are MANY books on that notable list with reviews that were NOWHERE near as good as mine.
    — Ayelet Waldman (@ayeletw) December 2, 2014

What do they mean by "Notable?" How does a book that got a decidedly mediocre review count as "notable" when one with a good one doesn't?
    — Ayelet Waldman (@ayeletw) December 2, 2014

Sometimes "being a writer" totally sucks. If it weren't for the actual writing, I think I'd go back to being a criminal defense attorney.
    — Ayelet Waldman (@ayeletw) December 2, 2014

It's just so fucking demoralizing. You pour your heart into your work, you get awesome reviews, and then someone decides it's not "notable."
    — Ayelet Waldman (@ayeletw) December 2, 2014

I mean. Why do I bother? I could write a fucking journal.
    — Ayelet Waldman (@ayeletw) December 2, 2014

You know what? Do me a favor. Preorder my fucking paperback to make me feel better. http://t.co/BuNQhh3lpRhttp://t.co/p3iIq9N9hE
    — Ayelet Waldman (@ayeletw) December 2, 2014

For every preorder I'll donate $1 to http://t.co/FDb9Onsude. Fuck the fucking NY Times.

She then carried on on Facebook, then backtracked:

I think if you're writing just to gain accolades, you're in the wrong business. The praise is wonderful but it shouldn't be the big reason you write.

Clive Owen and co-creators Jack Amiel and Michael Begler interviewed by Gold Derby

On Soderbergh:"He's unlike any director I've ever worked with. He has an unbelievable brain really, to carry the whole thing and to do it with such incisiveness and such style. It was really something to witness. He does everything... he lights, he operates, he edits. It's so refreshing and reassuring having such a singular vision. You're in such, such great hands."

On reading the script for the first time:"I just thought it was the most original and very unusual for a period piece as well... It felt kind of visceral and dangerous and edgy. It was unlike anything I have read."

He also talks about working with Mike Nichols toward the end, which is worth listening to.

On Soderbergh:"Jack and I can see the full spectrum of color, but Steven sees it in the ultraviolet. He can see things that we would never see in the material... [He] is really interested in the other things we cover... race, sex, class struggle. They all hit these things he really loves all in one package."

On all that blood:"The blood is really pumping out of those bodies. When they make that first cut into the body, it's just a gorefest. We were all taken aback at first by how much blood there was. That's what made it so great because it seemed so real and so visceral."

  • delias

U.S. teen clothing retailer Delia's has announced it will entirely liquidate its merchandise and file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company has not released an annual report since 2007, and announced in September it was looking for either a partner or buyer. Delia's is among several other clothing retailers aimed toward teens that has suffered this year, like Aeropostale and Abercrombie & Fitch.

Delia's currently consists of 95 branches nationwide, and still creates catalogs and updates its online store. However, stocks plummeted to 85% since the company publicly announced bankruptcy, which rounds out to less than one cent per share. It even told shareholders not to hold their breath for any decent revenue from liquidation sales.

The company was founded in 1993 by two Yale graduates, gaining prominence because of its site gURL.com (now owned by Seventeen magazine) and its catalog popular among teenage girls.

Or so says the Mirror's data unit, which analysed various song lyrics and calculated how many years someone would have to spend in education to understand them. According to the results, to understand Depeche Mode lyrics one would need 10. 3 years in education.

They beat out other legendary acts such as Queen, David Bowie and the Beatles. In ONTD lingo, this would translate to WHEN WILL YOUR FAVES?

In second place was Elton John, followed by Dire Straits in third and David Bowie in fourth.

The band with the least sophiscated lyrics were Led Zeppelin, followed by The Who in second place, The Smiths in third and The Beatles in fourth.

You can find more details and the full lists at the Mirror's website.

Do you agree, ONTD? Can we finally have a music stan war that doesn't include Britney, Igloo or Ariana Whatsherface?
What is your fave Depeche Mode or song lyric in general?

Taylor Swift's recent night out with BFFs Lily Aldridge and Karlie Kloss may be a sign that she's back in the dating game. On Thursday, the singer was spotted singing and dancing in the balcony of The 1975's show in NYC, fueling rumors that she's dating the band's frontman Matty Healy.

Swift is a longtime fan of The 1975, with Healy revealing back in March that the star had invited them to join her Red Tour in 2013: "That was cool. It’s like, ‘We can’t, but that is really nice, thank you very much.'"

Swift, 24, and Healy, 25, were first romantically linked in November. Healy wore a 1989 shirt during a show, with Swift excitedly reblogging the photo on her tumblr account and describing The 1975 as her "favorite band". On November 22, Swift attended The 1975's show in Los Angeles and was spotted wearing the band's shirt the following day.

"I met Taylor Swift, that was really nice," Healy said during a radio interview with Shazam Top 20. "We exchanged numbers. Let's see what happens." When quizzed about a possible romance, he added: "I mean bloody hell, what am I going to do? Go out with Taylor Swift? She's a sensation, I wouldn't say no."

Healy began dedicating songs to Swift at various concerts. According to Lainey Gossip, Swift was spotted in an SUV outside The 1975's concert venue in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 28.

In early December, Healy was asked for his opinion of Swift: "She’s amazing. She’s an amazing role model. And not only is she an incredible songwriter, she’s an incredible pop songwriter, which I think is even harder. I can’t speak highly enough about Taylor Swift."

At The 1975's New York show, Healy reportedly pointed at a bashful Swift while singing his song FallingForYou. He skipped the show's official afterparty and was instead spotted getting into a car with blacked-out windows, seconds after Swift and her friends left in an identical vehicle.

Rolling Stone Magazine has pulled way back on the University of Virginia rape story that caused national headlines last month.
Media shitstorm, possible libel lawsuits etc..
In their statement they mention that they are sorry they accepted the story at face value and did not consult with the accused, and that there are discrepancies with the story and that their trust with the woman was misplaced. Jezebel apologizes without reservation for calling doubters "idiots"
