AWARDS SEASON POST 2014-2015: The Contenders

Best Picture (Source)
The race is most certainly on, with the early fall fests bringing everything from "Birdman" and "The Imitation Game" to "The Theory of Everything" and "Gone Girl" to the table. Subversive material from master filmmakers will give the critics groups a lot to chew on when they have their say later in the year, but broader plays like "Unbroken" and "Interstellar" could end up ticking off a lot of boxes for voters. A varied and interesting season is afoot.
Front runners:
1. "Unbroken"
2. "The Imitation Game"
3. "Interstellar"
4. "Boyhood"
5. "The Theory of Everything"

Best Director(Source)
It looks to be a very filmmaker-driven season. To say nothing of the visionaries -- Iñárritu, PTA, Fincher, etc. -- even much of the "baitier" fare has star talent at the helm, whether Angelina Jolie with "Unbroken" or Christopher Nolan with "Interstellar." Watching allegiances form this year will be fun, but it's an exciting bunch.

Front runners:
1. Angelina Jolie ("Unbroken")
2. Christopher Nolan ("Interstellar")
3. Richard Linklater ("Boyhood")
4. Alejandro González Iñárritu ("Birdman")
5. Morten Tyldum ("The Imitation Game")

Best Actor (Source)
As always, the Best Actor category is stacked. You could easily make a list of 20 gentlemen who, theoretically, have a great shot at recognition this year. The Michael Keaton welcome-back party will surely roll out the carpet, and both Eddie Redmayne and Joaquin Phoenix have delivered performances everyone will be talking about. Benedict Cumberbatch would be a fair bet for frontrunner in the early stages, while Steve Carell and Channing Tatum will surprise plenty. Oh, and Bill Murray wants to play.

Front runners:
1. Benedict Cumberbatch ("The Imitation Game")
2. Eddie Redmayne ("The Theory of Everything")
3. Steve Carell ("Foxcatcher")
4. Michael Keaton ("Birdman")
5. Timothy Spall ("Mr. Turner")

Julianne Moore has officially crashed the party for these ladies, landing with a performance in "Still Alice" that has many thinking she's a cinch for her first Oscar. Beyond that, what was initially a very weak field is beginning to tighten up. And the lack of competition is yielding some attention paid to interesting corners, like Gugu Mbatha-Raw's performance in "Belle," set for a Searchlight campaign. Meanwhile, Rosamund Pike's "Gone Girl" performance has landed with a cannonball in the middle of this pool.

Front runners:
1. Julianne Moore ("Still Alice")
2. Reese Witherspoon ("Wild")
3. Amy Adams ("Big Eyes")
4. Rosamund Pike ("Gone Girl")
5. Felicity Jones ("The Theory of Everything")

0000
Best Supporting Actor (Source)
The supporting categories are funny because just when they look like they're firming up, they have other cards to play. This year there are a pair of "Unbroken" performances and a handful of other unknowns waiting to make their cases alongside some electrifying work that has already played the festival circuit.

Front runners:
1. J.K. Simmons ("Whiplash")
2. Edward Norton ("Birdman")
3. Logan Lerman ("Fury")
4. Tom Wilkinson ("Selma")
5. Domhnall Gleeson ("Unbroken")

Best Supporting Actress (Source)
Patricia Arquette's camp has made it official here while Jessica Chastain's might be sniffing out a win. Keira Knightley has already proven her case and Katherine Waterston makes hers at NYFF. There are a lot of different ways this race could go. Emma Stone is so deserving. Rene Russo would be a funky but valid pick. Carrie Coon is already drawing a fan club. Lots of lightning here.

Front runners:
1. Patricia Arquette ("Boyhood")
2. Jessica Chastain ("Interstellar")
3. Keira Knightley ("The Imitation Game")
4. Katherine Waterston ("Inherent Vice")
5. Emily Blunt ("Into the Woods")
Mods, I was thinking that since fall is officially here and the awards season starts next month with the Hollywood Film Festival Awards, that there could be an official monthly awards season post leading up to the Oscars. All of the sources are listed and everything is done according to the rules.

Jeremy Renner May Only Be Contracted For 2 More Marvel Films, Mentions Black Widow/Hawkeye Potential

0
0

Jeremy Renner indicated in an interview with the Daily Beast earlier this week that he may only have two films left in his contract with Marvel — a third Avengers movie and a potential Hawkeye-centric film. "I think most actors will sign on to do, like… Captain America 1-3 and then The Avengers 1-3, and then you’re done. For me, I signed on to The Avengers 1-3 and then Hawk-Eye, in case they want to do a Hawk-Eye spin-off," he told the publication.

Renner, who spoke with the Daily Beast while promoting his upcoming movie Kill the Messenger, also noted that Marvel has an interest in a Black Widow/Hawkeye team-up movie. When the major role Black Widow played in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was mentioned, Renner noted that, "I think that’s why they want a Hawk-Eye/Widow movie so bad."

The actor also didn't have any further comment on rumors he might appear in Captain America 3, only noting that the movie will start filming in March and there hasn't been any official conversations about his involvement in it. Renner also talked up the fun experience he had shooting the second Avengers film, which he noted will include beefed up roles for his character and Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk.

Gloria Estefan wants Ariana Grande to play her in musical 'On Your Feet'.

The 57-year-old singer would love to see the 21-year-old star take to the stage to play her in the production because she has been a big fan of the raven-haired beauty's ever since she saw her doing karaoke on a cruise ship when the 'Problem' hitmaker was just eight years old.

She explained: ''Ariana Grande would be somebody wonderful.
''I saw her when she was eight years old on a cruise ship and she had sung this song, and I literally went up to her and told her and her mom, 'I don't know if you plan on doing this, but this is what you need to be doing because you are an amazing singer.' ''

Gloria insists the star's karaoke performance was ''amazing'', especially as she was yet to reach double figures in age.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, she added: ''She was doing karaoke and we were listening because I love to go watch that stuff and it was amazing!''

Musical 'On Your Feet', named after Gloria's 1989 hit 'Get One Your Feet', is set to hit Broadway in the summer of 2015.

The play will tell the story of Gloria and her musician husband Emilio Estefan - who she married in 1978 - and their rise to becoming worldwide sensations.

Several hit songs are set to feature in the musical including 'Rhythm Is Gonna Get You', 'Conga', '1-2-3' and 'Live For Loving You'.

Earlier this month, auditions for the production were held in Miami and New York but the cast is yet to be announced.

Clean Bandit breaks into the Hot 100 top 10 with "Rather Be"

For the fourth consecutive week, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” reigns atop the Billboard Hot 100.For the fourth consecutive week, Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” settles for the runner-up spot.

Do not let that repetition fool you into thinking the top ten is without change.

The variation begins at the #3 position, which welcomes a rebounding “Anaconda.” Up one place this week, the Nicki Minaj tune benefits from double-digit percentage increases in airplay and streaming.

Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” returns to its #4 peak this week, while Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” slips two places to #5. Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me” holds at #6.

One of the week’s biggest changes then comes at the #7 position. There lands Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High),” which rises six places from last week’s position. It is the song’s–and the artist’s–first appearance in the top ten.

Ariana Grande’s “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” follows at #8, while Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘em (featuring YG)” rises one place to #9.

Also up one place this week, Clean Bandit’s crossover smash “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” reaches a new peak of #10.

It’s Only a Play’s Rupert Grint Talks His Clothed Broadway Debut, Dame Helen Mirren’s Bikini Body

It’s Only a Play star Rupert Grint stopped by Access Hollywood to chat making his Broadway debut in the Terrence McNally comedy, where he plays wunderkind director Frank Finger. The Harry Potter fave did have to clarify that unlike former co-star Daniel Radcliffe, he is entirely clothed for his Great White Way debut. While he shares the stage with some huge names, including Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick and Stockard Channing, there’s one celeb he can’t seem to escape: doppelgänger Ed Sheeran. “I’ve signed albums,” he said of getting stopped on the street and mistaken for the singer-songwriter. Take a look at the interview below, which, as all good interviews do, includes a pic of Helen Mirren in a bikini. Then catch Rupert Grint in It’s Only a Play at the Schoenfeld Theatre!

Thug Kitchen Founders Revealed to Be White (Everyone Act Surprised Now)

0
0

Epicurious exposedthe budding brand (with a cookbook in the works) and its founders to be two white millennials, Michelle Davis and Matt Holloway. They are anonymous on the actual blog, Thug Kitchen, but hung out with writer Matt Duckor, and are “unmistakably Thug Kitchen.” But really, are they?

Davis and Holloway told Epicurious they started the blog just to make each other laugh, while getting to the real point of a food recipe — no family-loving bullshit, not egotistical “look at me” shit, just straight food recipes. (With a side of many, many profanities.) But yeah, their revealed identities are causing a lot of fury from people who have every right to be furious.

We’ll hand it over to the very smart blogger, Maya K. Francis, at Very Smart Brothas to land our point:

It goes without saying that “thug” is a loaded word, which in our politically correct, post-racial society, has become the polite way to say “nigger” in mixed company. So the title that Matt Holloway and Michelle Davis chose for their food blog is deliberate. So is the voice. … It’s less important to argue whether or not Holloway and Davis could have gotten this deal if they were Black; rather, it’s important to recognize that they got it because no one knew for sure. Much like the race records of the early 20th century, making the race of content creators less conspicuous is a successful, tried and true marketing strategy — even as the product one is selling is culture.

The site’s humor, of course, is to be found in the stark contrast to perceived “thug” culture and refinement. The crudeness of the language and the life it implies, versus the sumptuous wholesome home goodness of domestic success. This is great, we are supposed to think. Because thugs don’t even know what garbonzo beans ARE! Black people only love collard greens! Those are the assumptions that hold the glue together. That, and the heavy borrowation of the voice that makes Ghostface Killah a joy.

If Thug Kitchen launched with Holloway and Davis’ pictures displayed prominently on the page of their blog, the blog wouldn’t have lasted long. Me, you, and everyone else with some melanin would’ve called it racist. It would’ve been over before it started, and just like we’ve done to Paula Deen, Iggy Izalea and every other imitator, we would have launched a full on attack. So instead, the couple allowed us to feast on the content, and send us home once we had our fill (and they had their page clicks.)

So there you have it. Just as we felt conflicted about Auntie Fee, we feel just as conflicted about Thug Kitchen now.

Liza (Sutton Foster) is a 40-year-old recently divorced single mother looking to get a job, which proves difficult for a woman of her age. After a compliment from a much younger man, she decides to get a makeover, courtesy of her friend Maggie (Debi Mazar), in order to look like she is in her mid-twenties. Ultimately, she becomes an assistant to Diana (Miriam Shor) in a publishing firm, who pairs her with co-worker Kelsey (Hilary Duff).

Keri Hilson, Mother of God, Prayed Against Satanic Influences on Twitter

Keri Hilson, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter, has decided to publicly pray against Satan.

Hilson previously revealed that she has rededicated her life to Jesus Christ two years ago. Since then, the entertainer has publicly spoken about her faith and all of the blessings that came along with it, including her relationship with Oklahoma City Thunder power forward Serge Ibaka.

Now, Hilson is combating satanic influences in her life in a very public way. Although it is unclear what sparked her prayer, the entertainer took to Twitter to give Satan and well over 3 million followers a piece of her mind.

Hilson went on to share her prayer for a discerning heart amid satanic influences.

The singer-songwriter previously spoke to Global Grind about how becoming serious about her Christianity changed her love life.

"I rededicated my life to Christ in April 2012, I came out of a really dark depression, I actually met him (Serge) maybe six months after I rededicated my life to Christ," Hilson revealed to Global Grind last year.

Nick Jonas Is All About The Gays in New Interview!

0
0
00000

When you think of Nick Jonas - and let's face it, you've been thinking a lot about him lately - a few things come to mind: the straight-edged Jonas Brothers. Former flames Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. His abs.

Per his handlers, two of those topics were off-limits during my chat with Nick, but so what. Ever since he posted a salacious Instagram pic of his fit, V-cut torso in 2013, it's been ab this, ab that. The 22-year-old BFF to the gay community is also releasing a self-titled, post-Jonas Brothers album (out Nov. 11), which he chatted about during our interview. You know, in addition to his abs.

You said recently that part of the reason you're so adamant about reaching out to the gay community is because you don't feel like the Jonas Brothers did enough of it before. So, is this gay media blitz your way of making up for lost time?

(Laughs) Maybe! I think my brothers and I did what we could, but at that time, in our career and during that moment in our lives, it was pretty crazy. We had so much going on that we were, I think, just trying to stay on top of everything. I've had a little time prior to the promotion (of this album) to establish exactly what I want to say, who I wanna talk to and the steps I wanna take.

Did the lack of gay-media attention have anything to do with your handlers? Were people telling you not to do gay press to maintain your conservative Disney image?

To be honest, I don't think it was that. I think if we had wanted to make an effort there it wouldn't have been an issue. It was important and it is important to me, and it's also important to me as I transition into acting.

I'm on a show called "Kingdom" where my character goes on a pretty interesting journey. I can't give anything away - no spoilers - but it's been fun as an actor to be willing to go to that place. I love playing this role that I play, and I'm excited for the audience to go on this journey with me.

Considering you've revealed there's a nude scene, we are also excited to go on this journey with you. What's it like shooting a nude scene?

It's pretty bizarre. The way you have to go into it... it's not real. As actors, it's our job to tell these stories, and with a show like "Kingdom," you go the extra mile and push the boundaries and keep it very real. So, in that moment, it's just about telling the story the best way you can while trying to be honest. As far as any of the physicality goes - or nudity or sex scenes - it's just about knowing that it isn't real.

Wait, your sex scene is not real?

(Laughs) It's not.

Why is it so important for you to reach out to the gays for your solo debut?

When I was setting up this record and meeting with the team about it, I told them that I really wanted to make an effort to embrace that part of my audience. I've known for a long time that it is a great part of the audience, and I just never felt like we made all the effort we could to embrace them. It's been really fun and really incredible.

When did you know the gay community was embracing you?

I think it was a combination of things. I did theater prior to recording music, and so at a very young age I made a lot of really close gay friends. When I started recording music, and my brothers and I started recording and touring, we saw pretty quickly - this was back in 2005/2006 - that this was a big part of our audience. As the years went on, and as I went back into theater, I made the (gay community) a priority. It's about embracing all sides.

You're currently on tour, and considering how much attention you've given the gays lately, how gay are the audiences that come out to see you?

It's been pretty awesome to look out and see a difference in the crowd. It's not drastic by any means; it was kind of there prior, but there's definitely more of them embracing this next chapter in my life and my music. All that, I can feel. Looking out, there is probably a handful more gay fans out there, which is incredible.

So, like, if you had to rate the gayness of a Nick Jonas show, where would it fall on the Kinsey Scale, 1 being straight and 6 being totally gay?

(Laughs) I don't know if I can answer that just yet. I think I need to let it continue to evolve. It's in the early stages here. Let's see where we get in the next couple of months and then we'll make that call.

You have a point. Considering you just performed in San Francisco, the number would be skewed.

(Laughs) Exactly!

Because your abs are now famous as well, do you feel obligated to show them at every show?

(Laughs) Umm, no. I haven't showed them at any of my shows. That was more so when I was in New York celebrating the release of the new music and I went to a couple of gay clubs and... (Laughs) They kind of made me do it, so I had to! But as far as my shows go, I keep it fully clothed.

I saw the video online, Nick. I didn't see anyone taking your shirt off for you.

It was a few drinks in at that point. All bets were off.

When you show up at a gay club like the ones in New York, do guys hit on you? Do they flirt? And how do you approach a situation like that?

Yeah, it's interesting. Whether it comes from people who are aware of me and my personal life, or the person who was on the microphone saying it, there's a general awareness that I am straight but totally embracing of the gay community. I love my gay fans, so it was just a lot of love, and there wasn't a whole lot of hitting on me and flirting. A little bit, which was actually kind of fun. (Laughs) It was a pretty new environment for me, so I was just trying to take it all in and have a good time.

What do you make of naysayers who say you're just using your body to bait the gay community?

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I think it's unfortunate that some people have to find a negative in every situation. Clearly my heart is in the right place, and more than anything, if they just looked at my life and my gay friends and the authentic nature of where my heart is, they'd just see that they're kind of ignorant.

The nature of where we are today is, we're in a time where we need to make strides and step forward as a society and embrace all people from all different walks of life. When you're trying to make a bold statement like that, some people aren't gonna fall in line with that. And that's OK. You gotta stay on your own path.

You've recently opened up about your religious journey and how you've taken off your "purity ring." Did the gay people in your life have anything to do with reexamining your religion? Have you always been this accepting of homosexuality?

That's a good question. I always have been. I think that's a testament to growing up in the theater and from an early age being surrounded by (gay people), and my parents - although my dad was a pastor - were very open-minded and said the same thing that I say, "We have to love people from all walks of life, and that's the key." It was nice to come from that.

Definitely my opinion and my feelings on faith and religion, specifically, have evolved over time just having seen some of the judgments that other people show toward the lesbian and gay community. It really burdens my heart, and it saddens me in a huge way because I feel like it's not our place to judge at all. Some of the most loving, caring relationships that I've ever seen are between my gay friends, and some of my straight friends' relationships are the worst examples of what love is.

With your parents being as open-minded as they are, were there gay people in your life even before you pursued theater?

There were. My parents were always good about having an open mind toward everyone. Like I said, although church and religion were a cornerstone for us in a lot of ways, they (my parents) were open, and especially after we left the church and had to develop our own faith is when my views and opinions started to take shape.

Would you still consider yourself Christian?

I say now that I have a relationship with God and that it's my own relationship with God. It's one of those things that I try to keep most personal because I think that's the healthiest way I've learned to deal with it. I keep it as that, and I know that I love God and he loves me.

Nick Jonas performs at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at The Crofoot Ballroom, 1 S. Saginaw, Pontiac. For more information, visit http://www.thecrofoot.com.

Porsha Williams Was Blindsided By RHOA Demotion Announcement!!!!!!

0
0

Porsha is speaking out about her demotion on season 7. Today when the new recycled cast photo came out, Bravo had Photoshopped Porsha out of the photo and put in newcomer Claudia Jordan.

Porsha shared a statement tonight via her rep, “This is not an easy time for me right now, but I want let everyone to know that I loved being a Housewife on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and I am thankful for Bravo for the opportunity but it’s not goodbye.”

Porsha continued, explaining her shock to find out she had been downgraded. “After a long season of filming, and giving my all, I was blindsided by the announcement from the network that I was demoted from Housewife Status, but would remain on the show in a “Friend” capacity. Unfortunately, I can only be PORSHA, and portraying anything else, would not be genuine nor honest. This moment is bittersweet, but God has been so amazing to me, and I think this is a perfect time for me to spread my wings, and finally focus on all of my upcoming projects. In addition to having my recurring role on RHOA, I will be able to focus my attention on my career on DISH NATION on the Fox Network, recording my album, and building my businesses.”

TMZ claims that Porsha was demoted because she was difficult to deal with this season.

It's Judgement Day For Teresa & Joe!

On Thursday, the Giudices, of Montville in Morris County, are to be sentenced. Each could get a prison term, and Joe, a citizen of Italy, could be deported.

They have admitted that they hid assets from bankruptcy creditors and that they submitted phony loan applications to get some $5 million in mortgages and construction loans. Joe has admitted that he failed to file a tax return in 2004.

“They know a worst case, but don’t know what’s going to happen, and it’s terrifying and they’re scared,” said Wendy Feldman, a crisis manager hired by Teresa to deal with the media.

If Teresa keeps her word, on sentencing day she will take responsibility, express remorse and address the court directly. “I will describe the choices I made, continue to take responsibility for my decisions, and express my remorse,” she said in a statement read by her lawyer at the courthouse in March. “I am heartbroken that this is affecting my family, especially my four young daughters, who mean more to me than anything in the world.”

The couple accepted a package plea deal from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. If both hadn’t agreed to plead guilty, neither would have been offered a deal, said Miles Feinstein, Joe’s attorney.

Bethenny Frankel Denies Return to RHONY!

RHONY fans were psyched when it was reported Bethenny Frankel would be returning to the Bravo reality series. Us Weekly first broke the news, but the entrepreneur and former talk show host shut down these rumors.

However, the mother of one blasted these claims on Sirius XM radio.

"I'm going in and out of Bravo, I'm talking to Andy [Cohen] about two different projects, because he's got a production company now....I haven't signed or decided to do anything. But it's not what everyone thinks it is," Frankel told Jenny Hutt.

"He's doing a lot of different shows, so we're talking about a couple of different things and deciding together what we're going to do. So that could be why everyone's writing about this."

Lisa Dishes on New Season of RHOBH!

Extra caught up with Lisa Vanderpump at the Hero Dog Awards in Beverly Hills, where she dropped a few hints about RHOBH Season 5!

Vanderpump said she didn’t want to give too much away, but assures it's going to be “better than last season. I can’t say it is all plain sailing. At it's best, it is not an easy situation sometimes.”

When asked about Brandi Glanville she explained, “When we left last season I really wanted to be as far away from her as I could possibly be and then things have to change, we’ll see that story kind of comes to its conclusion.”

Could that mean a possible reconciliation? Fans will have to watch to find out.

queen keira knightley for glamour uk november

In this month's GLAMOUR magazine, our brand new cover star Keira Knightley talks all about her wedding day, how she felt about turning 30 and whether she's found her looks to be a blessing or a curse…

"I don't think you can say that they're a curse……it would be stupid of me to say that my looks haven't played a part in my career, because obviously they have," she told us.

"And obviously they have got me contracts with Chanel, but there have been as many, if not more, parts that I haven't got because of the way that I look. So I suppose it balances out. And I do think that in every profession, regardless of what they look like, people have to prove themselves again and again."
//source

Next March, Keira will turn 30, but is she nervous about the milestone? Not quite! "I'm not actually worried about turning 30. Because, honestly, my early twenties were not much fun. Then after 25, things just got better and better. Maybe you stop caring as much about where you should be going and what other people think - which is all the shit that makes you very unhappy early on."

And she has a reason to be happy - as well as her career going from strength to strength, she's also major loved-up with her husband, Klaxons singer James Righton. She told us all about their wedding last year: "It was a bloody good day and a lot of fun. And yes, being married feels pretty good. You only get to choose one member of your family and I made a good choice. So well done, me!"

Keira also exclusively told us that she would 'totally discourage' any daughter of hers from becoming an actress: "I should imagine that if she wanted to act, I wouldn't have a choice, but, no, I certainly wouldn't recommend it. It can be completely heartbreaking for most people who do it, because the amount of rejection is enormous. It seems she took the saying 'shop 'til you drop' quite literally on Tuesday, as Jessica Chastain was caught yawning on the New York City sidewalk after hitting some trendy stores.
But at least the 37-year-old actress appeared voguish during the process, showing off her conservative chic style as she perused the Soho shops.
The redheaded beauty was spotted in a grey and black striped sweater and matching heather grey wide-legged trousers.

She teamed her pieces with a pair of textured black dress shoes and layered on a black trench coat, clearly having dived into her Autumn wardrobe.

The Zero Dark Thirty star cranked her simple look up a notch with a metallic statement necklace and jet black sunglasses.

She also displayed her love of designer duds by carrying a black Christian Dior handbag.

Jessica certainly has a love of high fashion, as she was seen carrying a shopping bag from the upscale retailer, Intermix.
