Matthew McConaughey has long been known as a heartthrob, his devilish good looks making him the object of desire for women all over the world.
But the Oscar-winner appears to be rocking rather a different look on the set of his new film, Sea Of Trees, seen shooting scenes in a suburban backyard in Worcester, Massachusetts on Friday.
Dressed down in a monotone ensemble, the 44-year-old was sporting a pair of brown ombre-effect glasses and mousey brown unkempt hair, a slight five o'clock shadow visible on his face, as he pushed along an old lawn mower.
The father-of-three was looking far from his usual movie-star self to shoot the Gus Van Sant flick, which centres on an American man (McConaughey) who travels to the Aokigahara forest, otherwise known as 'Suicide Forest', at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan, where he plans to end his life.
However, he encounters a Japanese man there (played by Ken Watanabe) with the same intention and the two men bond as they undertake a journey of survival and self-reflection.
Naomi Watts stars as Matthew's character Arthur Brennan's wife, Joan, in the film, which is slated for release next year.
Indeed, the actor certainly looked like a man on the brink, his overall demeanour crestfallen and lacking of any motivation or inspiration.
He was clad in navy blue pants, a charcoal lightweight sweater and grey sneakers for the scene, in which he diligently mowed the expansive lawn, looking none too impressed at having to perform the menial task. However, taking a seat between takes, Matthew's sparkle came out as he chatted animatedly with the crew.
The charismatic star positively lit up from within as he sat, legs crossed, nibbling on some healthy seeds and nuts as he held court with the production team, who happily laughed along with him.
If he is at all disappointed at not picking up the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series Emmy for his acclaimed HBO show True Detective during Monday night's awards ceremony, he certainly didn't show it.
On Wednesday, it was back to business as usual as he threw himself into his latest project, seen filming alongside Naomi in a local park.

Boasting a 95% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer has become one of the most critically heralded films of the year. And now it's the first to be sent to the Academy of Arts and Sciences for consideration for awards season. Deadline dropped the news that a DVD of Snowpiercer has been sent out to Academy members, who could receive the sci-fi drama as early as today. It's a bold move by RADiUS, a distribution division of The Weinstein Company that's been shaking up the standard release model, and is now kicking off the push for Oscar season.
Starring an international cast that includes Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremmer, and Ko Ah-Sung, Snowpiercer found inspiration in the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige. Its story centers on a titular train that houses the last dregs of humanity following a new ice age that has caked the globe in killer cold. But class warfare brews between the have-nots at the back of the train and the posh haves at its front.
Along with the DVD, RADiUS has sent a simple case that suggests a wide variety of categories to which Snowpiercer might be applicable. Deadline included this picture of the case.
As big fans of this film ourselves, we at Cinema Blend are positively pumped to see RADiUS believes in this film--which thrived in limited release and VOD--as much as we do.
The Weinstein Company has traditionally been a force to be reckoned with come Oscar time, with Harvey Weinstein spending big and playing hardball to push his pics. Last year, their contenders for the Oscar race included Philomena, Fruitvale Station and Twenty Feet From Stardom. But Fruitvale Station was shut out, Philomena scored no wins, and only Twenty Feet From Stardom scored, taking home Best Documentary. TWC's slate of 2014 has been studded with disappointments like Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and The Giver. But TWC apparently has hopes for its romantic dramedy Begin Again, offering a re-release in hopes of garnering Academy attention.
But the RADiUS branch has proved far more compelling between Snowpiercer, The One I Love, and the upcoming Horns. Notably, Twenty Feet From Stardom was a RADiUS release, and now Snowpiercer may be TWC's best bet at Oscar acclaim in 2015.

Photos purporting to show a nude Jennifer Lawrence are making their way around on the Internet as part of what appears to be a massive celebrity hacking campaign.
The photos claiming to be of Lawrence were taken in various locations -- some of them appear to be taken in a dressing room, while others are more intimate. Some of the photos show the woman who is allegedly Lawrence taking the photos herself, while others appear to be taken by someone else.
A few of the photos show what appears to be Lawrence in various bathing suits ... but others are fully nude.
There are a ton of other partially nude photos of celebrities posted today ... the alleged victims include Kate Upton, Victoria Justice, Kirsten Dunst, Hope Solo, Krysten Ritter, Yvonne Strahovski, and Teresa Palmer.
Lawrence's spokespeople tell TMZ, "This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."
We're reaching out to the reps for the women involved. So far, no word back ...

So what will Prince Hans bring to the world of “Once Upon a Time” season 4? We understand the interest in the character right now, and largely for one reason: The guy made a big impact in “Frozen.” He turned out to be the villain of the tale, who completely used Anna to get close to her, and claim a seat ruling Arendelle.
So will he be just as evil on the ABC series as he was in the film? It sure sounds like it. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, co-creator Edward Kitsis goes as far as to refer to this key character as a “sociopath,” while fellow creator Adam Horowitz adds the following about whether or not Hans had something to do with Elsa being imprisoned in a way that ties back to Rumpelstiltskin:
“That’s one of the mysteries that we intend to unfurl … [Hans also] still feels the weight of being the youngest of 12 brothers, and there’s a very good chance of seeing some of those 12 brothers.”
It is also still very much possible that Hans is not the only villain we see from the “Frozen” world, given that there is still the super-mysterious character played by Elizabeth Mitchell out there that needs to be dealt with. It’s possible that she turned out to be one of the good guys, but that is at the moment very far from being confirmed.
The new “Once Upon a Time” season premieres on September 28.

Seth MacFarlane: Live at the Hollywood Bowl!
A sentence perhaps many thought or wished that they would never see. But there he was, the “Family Guy” creator, in the cool of a beautiful August evening, dressed in a formal white jacket and a black vest and bow tie, singing Cole Porter.
For those of us who know MacFarlane from his ribald slate of Fox comedies, it was a bit of a shock. It’s not like those of us from TV-land were completely blindsided though.
After all, we did witness the voice of “Stewie” host the Oscars in 2013, where he mostly conformed to the norms of the August occasion. Still even then, he did sing “We Saw Your Boobs.”
And maybe he would have eventually turned to his trusty tool box of boobs, body parts or functions as he so often has in his comedies, if only he would have had more time. But on Friday night MacFarlane was a special guest for John Williams: Maestro of the Movies, and as a result was on stage for only three songs.
A veritable Bowl tradition, the spry Williams' tribute to the movies was again a big hit with audiences. Powered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the movie composer's "Star Wars" theme music -- not to mention the accompanying hundreds of twirling light sabers -- ruled the night.
But for his part, MacFarlane didn’t say, do, or sing anything that would have offended the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, who movingly sang “Dry Your Tears, Afrika” from the movie “Amistad."
In fact, the animator and comedian has a wonderful baritone voice that rendered lovely versions of “Luck Be a Lady” and “You’re Sensational.” He also sang “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from his movie “Ted,” about a stuffed teddy bear come to life with a foul mouth and an appetite for drugs and porn.
It seems that MacFarlane has more dimensions than his cartoon characters. He studied with Frank Sinatra’s vocal coaches and is fond of selections from the Great American Songbook.
In 2011, he made an album of jazz and big band numbers, which was nominated for a Grammy. And he recently recorded a holiday album with Norah Jones that is slated for release later this year.
Let’s see Stewie, Brian or Ted try that.
Indeed, MacFarlane was a perfect gentleman Friday and his quick wit came in handy for audience members, who at times confused him with one of his crude-minded creations. After one gentleman let out a very loud grunt heard throughout the packed Bowl, MacFarlane replied: “You know you’re not in your house, right?”
It was obvious during MacFarlane’s performance he loves these old standards. And yet as he crooned away, he was also smirking through much of it -- just in case, perhaps, someone in the faceless audience, or one of the satiric voices in his head, wanted to mock him for caring about something unreservedly.

Refusing to buckle to her worst fears, Joan Rivers’ daughter is keeping her “fingers crossed” that a miracle will bring the 81-year-old comedic legend back from the brink of death.
The feisty funny lady was being brought out of a medically-induced coma Sunday at Mount Sinai Hospital as her only child waited with bated breath on how she will respond.
“The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday,” a source close to the family told the Daily News. “There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair.”
Melissa Rivers, 46, said her mother has received an outpouring of prayers and encouragement from friends and admirers around the world.
“We are keeping our fingers crossed,” Melissa said in a statement Sunday.
She said her mom, who is in serious condition, was “resting comfortably” and asked that “everyone keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”
While she tried to publicly sound upbeat, “Melissa is apparently totally hysterical and is at a loss for what to do,” the source told The News.
“They won’t know the extent of the damage until Tuesday at the earliest,” the source said of Rivers’ condition.
Sources have told The News that Rivers would not want to live unless she could enjoy “a full and active life. ... (She) would never want to be a burden on anyone.”
The host of E!’s “Fashion Police” went into cardiac and respiratory arrest Thursday morning while undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords at a private clinic on the Upper East Side.
Doctors subsequently put the Emmy-winner in a medically-induced coma to stabilize her vital signs. As of Sunday, she was breathing with the help of a life-support machine.
Rivers’ best friend, Margie Stern, stopped by the hospital to visit, but refused to comment when she left.
Another close friend, Jay Redack, Rivers’ creative collaborator, said he was left stunned by the comedian’s sudden health setback.
Redack, who also visited Rivers on Sunday, said he had gone to dinner with her on Wednesday night and that they had discussed the minor throat procedure she about to undergo.
He said Rivers, who performed a comic routine Wednesday night at the Laurie Beechman Theater near Times Square, showed no signs of a pending medical crisis.
“We talked about life, Melissa, boyfriends, tennis lessons, and talked about her act,” said Redack — who co-wrote “Rabbit Test,” the 1978 movie Rivers directed.
“Everything was going well for her,” Redack said. “Her career was good. She loves ‘Fashion Police.’”
Redack said that after 40 years of friendship, he knows Rivers better than most.
“You know how polarizing she could be, but people don’t realized what a fantastic lady she is, the charities that she supports, without fanfare, without people knowing,” Redack said. “She is a great person.”

Season 19 of Dancing with the Stars begins soon, and fans are anxious to see who will be dancing this time around. The pro list has already been revealed, but fans are anxious for DWTS spoilers regarding the cast of celebrities and the partnerships. Quite a few details have been uncovered, and all will be made official in just a few more days. How is the list shaping up so far?
PureDWTS has been tracking the Dancing with the Stars spoilers regarding the season 19 cast. While nothing is official yet, it does all seem to be coming together and DWTS spoilers really only have a little more to uncover yet at this point. Who will be dancing on Season 19?
It appears that Olympian Lolo Jones will be dancing with the new pro, Keo Motsepe. Peta Murgatroyd will dance with Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong. Mark Ballas has Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson, while Cheryl Burke has actor Antonio Sabato Jr. It looks like Derek Hough has YouTube star Bethany Mota, while new pro Allison Holker will be dancing with actor Jonathan Bennett.
Karina Smirnoff is partnered with former mixed martial arts champion Randy Couture, while Val Chmerkovskiy is dancing with Janel Parrish of Pretty Little Liars. Witney Carson has Alfonso Ribeiro of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, while Tony Dovolani has designer Betsey Johnson. Emma Slater will be dancing with race car driver Michael Waltrip and new pro Artem Chigvintsev is paired with actress Lea Thompson.
Many DWTS fans were shocked and outraged that Sharna Burgess wasn’t going to be a pro for Season 19, but she has just been added. Who will be her partner? That much hasn’t been uncovered for certain quite yet, but fans are dying to find out.
There has been speculation that Nash Overstreet of Hot Chelle Rae could be the last celebrity, as he’s posted two pictures on Instagram of a disco ball and he’s teased a big reveal is coming in the next couple of days. Other Dancing with the Stars fans are speculating about possibilities for Sharna including Michael Sam, Rob Lowe, and John Stamos. However, those with PureDWTS who have great inside sources say that it’s none of those guys. They’ve promised hints are forthcoming, but so far, everybody is still speculating.

No National Football League team took a chance on Michael Sam. Yesterday, 30 August, the gay defensive end was not selected to the St. Louis Rams 53-man roster. According to league rules, teams have 24-hours to pick up athletes who were cut. Today, 31 August, Sam was not selected by the remaining 31 teams.
He can still be end up as a member of an NFL practice squad. As reported by the blog Outsports, 'practice squad players earn a minimum $6,300 [€4,800] per week they are on the team.' For a full 17 week season, practice squad players can earn a total of $107,100 [€81,600].
According to ESPN, Sam and Jeff Fisher, head coach of the Rams, are to talk today. Yesterday the coach was supportive of the seventh-round draft pick. 'I was pulling for him, but it didn't work out,' Fisher said in a press conference. As for Sam, he used Twitter to thank the team and city.

Carrie Underwood will soon have a little one at home to sing to. The country singer announced on Monday that she's expecting her first child with her husband, Mike Fisher.
The 31-year-old shared her happy news on Labor Day, of course, posting a photo of herself with her two dogs, Ace and Penny, who had on "big brother" and "big sister" shirts.
"In honor of "Labor" Day... Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement," wrote the "Mama's Song" crooner. "Their parents couldn't be happier!"
Fisher retweeted Underwood's announcement, then followed with another post about baby names, writing, "We haven't picked names yet but it's looking like Fly is gonna fly. #boyorgirl #flyfisher."

Emma Watson has criticized the recent leaking of intimate photos of celebrities, saying that it shows "a lack of empathy".
Several images appearing to show A-list stars nude emerged on Twitter over the weekend (August 31). The stars' iCloud accounts were allegedly hacked by an anonymous party.
Girls creator and star Lena Dunham earlier condemned the hacking, describing whoever was behind it as a "sex offender".
Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice are among the celebrities whose pictures were reported to have been hacked, although Grande and Justice have both dismissed images which appear to show them as fakes.
The source of the leak has claimed to have obtained as many as 60 private images of Lawrence.
A representative for the Hunger Games star has confirmed the authenticity of the images, threatening legal action against anyone who posts or publishes the stolen photos online.

Earlier this week they both attended an Ed Sheeran concert.
And Chloe Moretz and Brooklyn Beckham took in their second music experience of the week together as they attended the second day of the Budweiser Made In America Festival in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The 17 year-old actress and 15-year-old son of legendary footballer David Beckham only fueled rumours of a possible romance as they were spotted walking together in a backstage area at the Jay-Z founded concert event.
Though Chloe and rumoured beau Brooklyn have yet to confirm whether or not they are actually dating, they did happen to colour-coordinate their outfits as they were draped exclusively in black and white.
The Kick-Ass actress donned almost entirely black ensemble including sleeveless top, trousers, and jacket tied around her waist, which was patterned with white polka dots.
She accessorised the look with a small black and white quilted Chanel bag as she walked alongside the son of former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.
