The Western-themed after party in Westwood featured music from American Primitive and attracted stars Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried and Giovanni Ribisi.

Universal and MRC threw an old-fashioned hootenanny as it unveiled A Million Ways to Die in the West, Seth MacFarlane’s follow-up comedy to his surprise hit Ted.

The movie blends modern comedic sensibilities with a Western setting and tropes (and musical number to boot) in a story of a sheep farmer, played by the baby-faced MacFarlane, who loses his girl after he chickens out of a gunfight. He must fight to get her back with the help of a mysterious woman who turns out to be the wife of a ruthless outlaw.

Most of the high-wattage cast was in attendance -- Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried and Giovanni Ribisi – except for Liam Neeson.

Following the screening at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, guests moved their way to the nearby after-party, held in a parking lot converted to look like a country fair in the Old West.

Bales of hay and stage coaches abounded, food stations served up Texas beef chili, BBQ pulled pork tacos, and corn off the cob while folks tried their hands at target shooting or their strength with a mallet at a high striker. Others hit the Old West-themed photo station (no smiles allowed) or decorated their faces with fancy felt mustaches.

It was all set to the twangy Bluegrass music of a band called American Primitive. It was probably the most fun to be had at an Los Angeles premiere this summer movie season.

At the center of it all was MacFarlane, with his female lead Theron (and boyfriend Sean Penn) close by.

The Family Guy creator acknowledged a hint of trepidation on execs’ part when he wanted to do a comedy Western, a genre that hit its high peak with the 1974 Mel Brooks classic Blazing Saddles.

“But when we did a table read and it went well, they breathed a sigh of relief that maybe this has shot of working,” he said. And while Westerns may not be in vogue right now, “Something is not popular until it is. They said sitcoms weren’t popular until Bill Cosby brought them back in the 80s. Hopefully this will be popular."
Producer Scott Stuber praised MacFarlane for going against the grain with this movie.

“We had such great success with Ted and he said, instead doing something in the same realm or the sequel right away, let’s try to do something original. Everyone gives Hollywood a hard time for not doing anything original, for doing sequels all the time. And this is unique.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have zeroed in on one of the most opulent places in the world to tie the knot -- the Palace of Versailles outside Paris.

There are reports that the couple will tie the knot in Florence, Italy ... in fact the Mayor's office even went on record confirming that.

But sources familiar with the wedding plans say it will absolutely take place at Versailles, following nearly a week of parties all around France.

A total of 3 French kings lived there and the palace and gardens are world famous to this day.

Versailles is where Louis XIV famously lived in the 1600s. It's also where Marie Antoinette lived with her hubby Louis the XVI and was trashed for her lavish lifestyle. She famously said "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche" -- translated, "Let them eat cake," referring to the common folk who bitched at her.

We gotta say ... it would be slightly awesome if Kim said it during the reception.

Anthony Mackie is set to play Jimi Hendrix in a new incarnation of the long-gestating project “Jimi,” which was formerly known as “Crosstown Traffic,” TheWrap has learned.

Ol Parker will direct from his own screenplay, which Paul Greengrass had once planned to direct with Mackie starring. The project fell apart in 2010 following objections from Hendrix's estate over the script's portrayal of the legendary rock star. Those concerns appear to have been addressed, as Parker himself will now step behind the camera.

Parker's wife, Thandie Newton, will co-star in the film, which chronicles the last nine days of Hendrix's life.

Noomi Rapace is being eyed for a supporting role, possibly as Hendrix's former girlfriend Kathy Etchingham, who the closely resembles the Swedish actress.

UTA, which represents rising star Mackie, is handling sales for the project, which is among the hottest being shopped at Cannes, though it remains unclear when production is expected to start.

Mackie is currently in negotiations to star alongside Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon Levitt in Jonathan Levine's untitled Sony comedy set on Christmas Eve in New York City. In addition to UTA, he's repped by Inspire Entertainment.

How my son learned to let it go


A few weeks ago, when my wife picked up our 5-year-old son from preschool, he ran to her crying, his hands over his ears. Through his tears, he yelled, “They’re singing the Frozen song!” She comforted him and drove him to his art class, where 10 minutes in, the girls in class started singing “Let It Go” from the Frozen soundtrack. His drawing that day looked surprisingly similar to Guernica.

There is no adult equivalent to the cultural assault Laszlo is enduring. Girls walk around dressed like Princess Anna; his teacher plays the soundtrack in his music class; it’s the song to one of the routines in his Saturday dance class; his Muppets Pandora radio station has been deeply infiltrated. Whenever we go to a friend's house, their kids want to put on the movie before dinner and play with Frozen toys after dinner.

As a film critic, Laszlo is slightly uninformed, since he has never seen Frozen and refuses to. Which is strange, since from the 15 minutes I've seen, it seems delightful and funny, and Laszlo loves musicals, and the songs were co-written by one of Broadway's greatest, funniest composers. When I asked Laszlo exactly why he hated it, all he could say was "It's got, like, dresses in it. I don't like dresses. And there's like, princesses, and I don't like princesses. I like cars-and-trucks things. I don't like a castle with a princess near it."
But the real problem isn't the princesses: it's the ubiquity. It is the only thing he's ever said he "hates." The film even inspired his first pang of nostalgia. "It was perfect when that movie didn't come out," he said.

Laszlo's Frozen-inflicted pain became so acute that he started demanding answers about why the film was made. So we Skyped with Kristen Bell, who plays Frozen's Princess Anna. Although Laszlo was shy at first, he eventually told Kristen that he did not like her movie at all. She said she had never heard that, since kids who seek her out to talk about Frozen all tell her the opposite. "It didn't occur to me that young people might find it annoying to hear over and over again. But of course they would. Because anything that over-saturates the market does," she said. "I would have thought adults would have gotten annoyed before the kids, because kids have less of a barometer because they can be so repetitive."

After realizing she couldn't win him over, Kristen magnanimously congratulated Laszlo on taking a stand against her livelihood. Then she went back to promotion. "Funnily enough, you're sticking with the theme of the movie that everyone should be different and unique," she said. He gave her a look that said, "Funnily enough, $1.2 billion in the worldwide box office shows your theme is bullsh-t."

Laszlo asked Kristen if she knew when she made it that the movie would take over kids' lives. "I did not know that people would not let it go. No pun intended," she said. Laszlo laughed, despite the fact that he has no idea what a pun is. Kristen told Laszlo that she doesn't go around singing Frozen songs, which he was glad to hear. And while she couldn't promise him she wouldn't make any more Frozen movies, she said she hadn't been asked yet.

Laszlo said, "They're just going to keep playing Frozen. They're not going to stop. Even if someone tells them to stop, they're not going to stop. It's going to last my whole life."

"I don't think so," Kristen said. He shook his head at here naivete. "It will," he said. "Even when I'm a grown-up."

After our call, Laszlo said Kristen was very nice and had a good singing voice and made him feel a little better. When I asked if he was going to tell the kids at school that he talked to Princess Anna, he said no. "I won't tell them because then they'll talk about Frozen," he said. I just gave him a hug. You can protect your kids from only so much in this world.

When in Cannes! Lindsay Lohan goes topless in new photo... and reveals she's getting back to 'werk' by posing with script

After partying her way through London, she's moved on to Cannes.
And now Lindsay Lohan is using all of her natural talents to get back to business while at the star-studded French film festival

.

The 27-year-old actress posed topless next to a male friend in a selfie she posted to Instagram on Saturday.

With a trusty cigarette in hand, Lindsay exposed her cleavage without any shirt as her fiery locks cascaded down past her shoulders and over her breasts.
As her tresses partially obscured her face, the Liz & Dick star held up her cell phone while pointing at her styist pal who in turn pointed his thumb at her.
Along with the racy shot she included the message, '#isCANNESQuicheENUF ?! #ily.'

Earlier in the day, a fully clothed Lindsay appeared slightly more serious as she posed with a script in hand and wrote, 'New script! #werk #ily.'
While it's unclear what the script might be for, her most recent movie was scheduled to be the thriller Inconceivable.
But according to RadarOnline, producers are short on money and no date has been set to start filming.

A source said: 'There is always the problem of insuring Lindsay for movies,' adding, 'It’s very likely this movie will never get made.'
Prior to arriving in Cannes, the rehabbed actress had been playing the role of party girl by painting the town in London last week.
On Wednesday she went to two events including hitting up the hotspot Chiltern Firehouse after attending the opening of a new boutique.
And earlier in the week she shared a photo having a wild time with singer Rita Ora and supermodel Cara Delevingne.

With Jennifer Lawrence, Russell Crowe, and Naomi Watts on the guest list, Vanity Fair and Armani’s Cannes Film Festival party, hosted by Graydon Carter and Giorgio Armani at the luxe Hotel du Cap tonight, was bound to be one of the most buzzed-about parties during this party-happy festival. But the surprise arrival of Justin Bieber, clad in his trademark low-slung pants and gleaming white moon shoes, made even the film royalty in attendance star-struck.

Bieber, a last-minute addition brought in by Vanity Fair’s Elizabeth Saltzman and shepherded around the pre-party dinner by none other than IAC chairman Barry Diller, was in high photo-op demand as he navigated the party, posing with Russell Crowe and seemingly exchanging “let’s hang out, bro” phone numbers with Adrian Grenier. But the most excited to meet Bieber was Jennifer Lawrence, who was overheard loudly saying “I want to meet Bieber!!” immediately upon arrival.

Ever interested in fostering interesting friendships, your trusty V.F. staff were able to arrange the historic meeting. Lawrence declined a photograph, saying she wanted Justin and herself to meet as real people. But we can confirm that they did indeed exchange pleasantries, and that the party was made all the better for it.

The very talented Nick Barose did my makeup to complement the silver tones of my dress and shoes.

My dress and shoes were both custom Lanvin­ based on the fall 2014 collection. The dress has a regal, Old World feeling when you're wearing it, but is supermodern with the print and length.



Here is the Lanvin team and artistic director Alber Elbaz getting me red-carpet ready—it really does take a village!



Ever the perfectionist, Alber stole my hairstylist's scissors and snipped away stray threads.



Alber makes taking serious photos very hard—he's always cracking up the room.



This was my first Met Gala, so the whole team was telling me stories of galas past—one of those stories must have been pretty shocking!



I had Van Cleef & Arpels earrings tucked into my hair.



Lanvin made these gorgeous custom shoes to match my gown: The perfect accent to my dress.

Model Poppy Delevingne was joined by a host of her showbiz pals as she tied the knot to long-term partner James Cook today.

The bride wore an unusual white custom-made Chanel gown which looked like a lacy, mini dress with sheer fabric attached to make it full-length. Sticking with tradition, she wore a veil in her blonde, curled hair.

After getting ready at Claridge's Hotel in London's Mayfair, she was helped into a car to be taken to her nearby church venue by her supermodel sister, Cara, who also wore a white Chanel gown.

Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and TV presenter Trinny Woodall were among the guests seen arriving at St Paul's Church, Knightsbridge, London, this afternoon.

Earlier this week, Sebastian Shakespeare revealed in the Daily Mail that the 27-year-old had selected 17 bridesmaids to join her walk up the aisle.

Her sisters Cara, 21, and Chloe, 29, were undoubtedly among them, as well as a number of little girls who arrived in pretty white dresses with pale blue sashes and flowers in their hair.








There were also a number of page boys dressed in white and blue and one little boy who appeared to be dressed as a teddy bear.

Pregnant Chloe wore a pale blue dress from Victoria Beckham's spring/summer collection over her blossoming baby bump.

Although the bridal party wore white or blue, Geri also appeared to be in bridesmaid attire in her choice of a long, sleevesless gown in a shade of pastel pink.









Trinny wore a different style dress in the same pink shade.

The groom beamed on the church steps as he posed for photographers before heading in for the ceremony. He wore a pale blue tie with his top and tails.

Poppy has reportedly banned guests from posting pictures on social media as glossy magazine Porter is said to have secured exclusive coverage of the wedding, on which it seems no expense has been spared.






James, who works for his family's aerospace company, proposed in October 2012 with a bespoke jewellery box by Anya Hindmarch. It contained an engagement ring alongside pictures of the couple and the words 'will you marry me?' embossed in gold.

Poppy has had three different elaborate hen parties around the globe with her celebrity friends including Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and Sienna Miller.

The bride's blue blood parents, who live in Chelsea, can certainly afford to foot the bill.
Poppy's grandfather is the former English Heritage chairman Sir Jocelyn Stevens, founder of the 1960s pirate radio station Radio Caroline.

Meanwhile her father Charles, a property-developer, had a grandfather who was a politician (Hamar, 1st Viscount Greenwood) and his aunt, Doris Delevingne, was a society beauty who was friends with Winston Churchill.

Her mother, Pandora, is one of the Duchess of York's best friends and her grandmother was a lady-in-waiting for Princess Margaret.

With her parent's social standing, Poppy and her sisters became accustomed to rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous from a young age.

Joan Collins is Cara's godmother while their mother's friendship with Sarah Ferguson meant they also became close to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Poppy was privately educated before finding success as a fashion model. She has starred in campaigns for Anya Hindmarch, Agent Provocateur, Diesel, Chanel and Louis Vuitton - although more recently her fame has been eclipsed by that of her sister.

☆Jennifer Lawrence☆ made yet another stunning appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Saturday, joining her costars at the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 party. The actress took a solo trip down the red carpet, but got social once the bash started, sharing sweet moments with Sam Claflin and his wife, Laura Haddock, and Donald Sutherland.
