Filmmakers Team Up with Vice and 'The Conjuring' for 'The 3:07 AM Project'

The last couple years have seen a big time resurgence in the multi-director horror anthology film, with movies like V/H/S and ABCs of Death giving young up and coming filmmakers the chance to show off their stuff, in an abridged and easy to digest fashion. What's great about this recent trend is that it gives fans a chance to become acquainted with the work of filmmakers that aren't yet established as masters of horror, providing us with a gateway into the careers and minds of the men and women who will be scaring the daylights out of us, for years to come.

Last week, the website VICE partnered up with James Wan's box office hit The Conjuring for a fun little experiment, titled The 3:07 AM Project. Four budding masters were given the chance to make short films for the project, with the only rule being that they must take place at the time of 3:07am. Why? Because that's the time in The Conjuring where all the shit goes down, and the clocks in the family in peril's home all stop ticking. The Devil's hour, if you will.

The four filmmakers tasked with creating early morning spookshows were Nacho Vigalondo, mostly known for writing/directing Timecrimes, Max Landis, son of John and the writer of the highly impressive Chronicle, House of the Devil's Ti West and last but not least Jason Eisener, who brought into our lives the unforgettably entertaining Hobo With a Shotgun. Four guys that know what they're doing behind the camera, that's for damn sure.

The four films are as short as they are creepy, running a combined length of 6 minutes long. So if you can manage to find any excuse to not watch them all, then I think we're going to have to revoke your membership in the horror fan club.

Doctors Scrambling to Keep Amanda in Psych Ward

UPDATE: TMZ has learned ... the judge just GRANTED the request to extend Amanda's psychiatric hold for another 2 weeks. So even if the judge denies the temporary conservatorship Friday ... Amanda will stay in the psych ward for 2 more weeks.

Amanda Bynes is in a court hearing right now to determine if the 5150 psychiatric hold will be extended for 2 weeks, and if the judge denies the extension Amanda could walk free tonight ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected with the matter tell TMZ the hearing is being held in the psychiatric hospital where Amanda has been confined. A judge is presiding over the hearing at the hospital.

We're told Amanda has her own lawyer who is arguing that the extension should be denied.

Our sources say the doctors are arguing that they need the 2 weeks to properly diagnose Amanda ... and that releasing her could pose a danger to herself and others.

If the judge denies the extension the 72-hour hold expires in a matter of hours and Amanda could go free.

People connected with the case tell TMZ, however ... they feel confident doctors will win an extension.

We're also told the reason Amanda's parents are going to court Friday morning is because they are worried the judge will reject the 2 week extension and they want the ability to control her actions in the event that happens.

We'll let you know what happens in the hearing.

will.i.am, Dr.Luke, Jennifer Lopez in talks to join American Idol

They are in the running to join likely judge Keith Urban, after newly hired MTV producers have soured on the "all-alumni" panel idea.

The behind-the-scenes reboot of American Idol is starting to pick up steam. A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that the Fox show is closing in on its season 13 judges lineup. At the top of producers' wish list: singer, actress and mini-mogul Jennifer Lopez, who was a judge on Idol for two seasons, in 2011 and 2012.

But talks between producers and Lopez's representatives seem to have reached an impasse over -- what else -- money.

While on Idol, Lopez earned an estimated $15 million per season. It was reported that her successor, Mariah Carey, got $3 million more than that. No doubt Lopez's manager Benny Medina, who, another insider says is “pushing hard to do a deal,” is asking for a hefty pay raise for Lopez. (Also worth noting: Midway through Idol's lackluster season 12, producers approached Lopez's team with a plan to replace Carey with Lopez.)

Meanwhile, Idol is also talking with season three alum-turned-Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, who has long been believed to be close to finalizing a deal. Keith Urban, the well-liked country star and season 12 judge, looks set to return, and the show might add Will.I.Am, who spent the last two seasons as a coach on the U.K. version of The Voice (though a source says the Black Eyed Peas frontman still hasn't decided if he's returning to The Voice). Dr. Luke, pop hitmaker (Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone," Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream") and newly minted label head (his Kemosabe Records is a joint-venture with Sony Music), was also in the running, but a source says Idol has cooled on him.

Even at this late stage -- auditions for season 13 of Idol are taking place now, with some 8,000 turning out for try-outs in Detroit; the next stop is set for July 26 in Atlanta -- the new powers-that-be seem to be wavering. J Lo makes sense in light of the fact that new executive producer Per Blankens, who came over from Swedish Idol to take over for longtime EPs Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick, is “looking for big names” to fill out the panel. The Swede’s thinking: this is “American” Idol -- the biggest of the franchise. The judges should be the same.

On the other hand, a salary north of $20 million for four months' work would set a bad precedent in a TV sector that's seen ratings nosedive of late. Idol's season 12 finale, for instance, only saw 14.3 million people tune in, down from 21.5 million the year before. That drop of more than 40 percent contributed to the show's lowest rated finale ever and the first time since the series launched in 2002 that it didn't hit 20 million viewers.

Among the other ideas floated is an all-alumni panel. Sources say Blankens and newly arrived producers Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager -- whose past experience producing live television events like VH1’s Divas special and the MTV Video Music Awards is seen as a major asset the a reboot -- have somewhat soured on the all-alumni idea. Still, as recently as two weeks ago, another sources said talks with Adam Lambert were still ongoing. The season eight fan favorite has said on multiple occasions that he would be "thrilled" to join if asked.

Veteran judge Randy Jackson said before the season's end that he won't return in 2014, as have Carey and hip-hop star Nicki Minaj.

For many, it was a decidedly un-gleeful morning in LA.

Less than two weeks after the shocking death of Cory Monteith, friends and costars of the actor, including his girlfriend Lea Michele, reunited for a memorial on the Paramount studio lot, where Glee's auditorium scenes are filmed.

Michele joined producer Ryan Murphy and costars including Kevin McHale and Darren Criss at the indoor/outdoor event where guests mingled, dined on buffet food and listened to Glee-appropriate tunes like "Good Vibrations" in Monteith's honor.

Each of the over 150 attendees (including Chord Overstreet, who was seen carrying a guitar) sported black ribbons as a tribute to the late actor.

"They were somber," says an eyewitness of the mourners, who were seen leaving the memorial with puffy, red eyes. "There were a lot of production staff and crew too and most everyone was dressed in black."

In a statement, Fox said: "Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time."

Meanwhile, the entire Glee cast (Michele included) will resume production in early August. The series will honor Monteith's character, Finn Hudson, in a special tribute episode this fall.

Nicholas Hoult, Gemma Arterton and Stephen Fry are set to voice new family-animation Once Upon a Time in the Kitchen. Alexander Williams, an animator on The Lion King and Pocahontas will direct from a script by Chris Brown, one of the original writers of US sitcom Friends. Production is due to get underway this September on the story of a feud between the everyday utensils and the best silver, cutlery from opposite sides of the table. The feature will be sold by UK sales and distribution outfit Kaleidoscope (KFD), which retains UK distribution rights. Williams said: “Once Upon a Time in the Kitchen is a fantasy adventure aimed squarely at a family audience, but with enough sophisticated wit to keep the grown-ups happy. To me the best animated films invite the audience in to a world that they have never seen before – and could not possibly see outside of the medium of animation. We want to bring a familiar world to life in a completely unfamiliar way – what really happens in the kitchen after dark, when the humans leave?”

Prepare To Wet Your Panties and Jockstraps, ONTD! THIS IS A DAVID JAMES GANDY SEX POST!

A model who filmed a sex scene with David Gandy shares her story.

WARNING: NSFW nude photos of this glorious man under the cut, so y'all are duly warned!

Doris Anna is a part-time model living in New York. One day she got called to shoot the video below with David Gandy — male supermodel and ravishing hunk extraordinaire— for the Bionda Castana shoe line. This is her story.

For almost every job I book into as a model, I have no idea what to expect or what I’ll be doing. I’ve shown up to shoots and ended up wearing a see-through gown in the middle of Times Square in January, and I’ve had my hair colored with blue chalk. If I asked too many questions, I might not want to do a lot of jobs, so it’s best to just not. This was the case when one afternoon not long ago my agent told me to go to a fitting because I’d be shooting a video the next day. At the fitting were the usual suspects — models, hair and makeup artists, stylists, and producers. All seemed more or less normal.

You get to meet David Gandy tomorrow,” a woman there tells me. “Did you read the script?”

“Oh, cool,” I responded. I hadn’t read the script, but I knew from the audition that it involved a bedroom scene. I figured this was nothing to get excited over. In the three years I’ve been part-time modeling, I’ve had my fair share of intimate moments with male models, and it feels as sexy as kissing a mannequin at Macy’s. (Sorry, boys, but you know you feel the same way.)

He’s a Dolce & Gabbana model,” she added excitedly, sensing my lack of enthusiasm.

I smiled politely. “I can’t wait!” I said, trying to mirror her excitement.

At home later, my curiosity piqued, and I google imaged this Gandy fellow. A more accurate description would have been “THE Dolce & Gabbana model.” If you’ve looked at a magazine or billboards over the past decade, you’ve probably seen him: He’s the man who sits on the boat, legs open, wearing tighty-whities in front of the perfume bottle.

This is Gandy.

Google him and you’ll learn other fun facts about him, like that Dolce & Gabbana dedicated a book exclusively to him. It consists of nothing but glorious shots of David Gandy and his spectacular physique, which is sort of like a rock sculpture that looks like it would be soft and warm to the touch. (Disclaimer: Google image “David Gandy Dolce & Gabbana” and things can get NSFW pretty fast.) Now I was a little nervous. How will I get enough sleep tonight for my 5:45 a.m. call time?

Woe is me. Woe. Is. Me.

Miraculously, the next morning I made it on time to Soho House, where we were shooting. Once in the holding room, a man wearing a baseball cap immediately greeted me with smiles: “Hi, I’m David. Come on in.”

Wow, I thought, He’s so nice. Looks a bit different from pictures — but charming!

Turns out, lack of sleep and dim lighting can really mess with one’s vision. The man with the baseball cap was actually David Schwimmer, aka Ross from Friends!!! He was producing the Gandy shoot. I realized my mistake as soon as Schwimmer stepped aside, revealing a tan, mysterious man with piercing blue eyes, sipping coffee through lips that seemed to whisper, “Dolce & Gabbana, light blue, buy it now and touch my abs…” So THAT was David Gandy. Well: wow.

It was so early that I didn’t think much of him at this point. My primary objective was to find out where did he get that coffee, and can I get some too?

The story for the video was that David Gandy dates and beds ladies so that he can steal their Bionda Castana shoes while they’re sleeping. This meant other girls were on the shoot for me to hang out with. So we lounged around for several hours entertaining one another. Zoe Buckman, Schwimmer’s wife and a producer of our film, was a sweetheart, and made sure we had plenty of yummy treats — and even rapped for us. (Yes, David Schwimmer’s wife rapped for me the day I rolled around in bed with David Gandy. I am VERY lucky, this I realize.) Ben Cox, the director, and Schwimmer were very supportive and provided great guidance during our scenes, making it a stress-free work environment. I really had fun sitting, lying, and running around in ridiculously comfortable Bionda Castana boots all day. I lost myself in the world of craft services. Basically, Gandy was the last thing on my mind.

Then came what the people on set dubbed “sexy time” and all of a sudden, faking foreplay with Gandy was all I could think about.

Now, David Gandy is the number one male supermodel in the world for a reason. And it’s not just because he really does move in slow motion in real life — the way he probably would in your daydreams. It’s because he’s truly everything he is supposed to be: a pure sex dream. He needs no direction — he simply needs to be unleashed and allowed to work his magic.

So eventually I find myself lying with Gandy hovering over me. We were supposed to paw at each other. I tried to do some pawing of my own so that Gandy wasn’t doing all the work, but my fake glue-on nails kept popping off and getting lost in my hair. The stylists couldn’t find them, so I was told not to show my hands. This meant that all I could do was lie there and be seduced by Gandy.

Gandy slowly slipped off my boots. His eyes did not leave mine as he gently placed his hands under my thigh and stroked my leg, working his way up to my foot. I cringed a bit because at that moment, I thought what every girl would think: Did I shave last night? (I had not, nor the night before, nor the night before that one…)

Suddenly, I realized Gandy was seductively kissing my ankle and foot. I started thinking a million things at once. I wish the Bionda Castana boots were painful so I hadn’t kept them on all day. Why didn’t I take them off? Weren’t we suppose to get pedicures? Why do feet sweat? So many questions.

Gandy’s charm distracted me from my insecurities. I don’t know if I’m capable of naturally blushing since I always wear a clown-worthy amount of blush, but my face felt flushed, my stomach fluttery, and I had to restrain myself from nervous giggling.

He’s so convincingly sexy that if it weren’t for David Schwimmer, who was couple of feet from me, giving me direction and much-needed encouragement, I would have completely forgotten I was on a film set. Gandy was very kind, and between takes he indulged my awkward and boring conversation: “How long are you in New York?” “Do you like New York?” “Where you going next?” “What are we doing?”

Female models are constantly told how “gorgeous, beautiful, stunning” they are. So as not to leave him out, the director quipped, “Gandy, you’re above average” — which is one way of putting it.

Before the 11-hour day ended, Gandy rushed to the airport — in slow motion — to catch a flight to somewhere fabulous (probably a boat in the crystal-blue sea), where he would continue to smolder and be fabulous (and probably wear tighty-whities). The other women in the film and I shot the “freak-out” scenes where the girls discover that their beloved Bionda Castana shoes have been stolen (by Gandy). And it’s a wrap!

The girls all exchanged contact information in order to stay in touch. We did, after all, share a man.

Eventually I did have to shower and wash away David Gandy’s caresses. But I took away a very important lesson: When in doubt, just shave. Shave more often than you think you should. Or better yet: Just laser. Because one day, David Gandy might be waiting for you.

The prestigious prize is open to writers from Britain, Ireland and the Commonwealth who write full-length novels in the English language. The longlist of nominees this year includes seven women, three debut novels, and a multimedia e-book series.

Five Star Billionaire by Tash Aw

In 10 words: Five characters bring their dreams for the future to Shanghai.

Quote:“Time — how it expands to fill the spaces you create; how it makes meagre experiences seem never-ending. Whenever he heard people talk about the ravages of time, about how it robbed and deprived, Justin always smiled; because for him, time was an accomplice, plugging the gaps and fleshing out morsels of memory so he would have something substantial to hang on to. That way, however little he had seen or felt, he would always feel as if he had more: a life far richer than the truth.”

We Need New Names by NoViolet Bulawayo

In 10 words: Darling, age 10, moves from Zimbabwe to America… Detroit, Michigan.

Quote:“Look at them leaving in droves, the children of the land, just look at them leaving in droves. Those with nothing are crossing borders. Those with strength are crossing borders. Those with ambitions are crossing borders. Those with hopes are crossing borders. Those in pain are crossing borders. Moving, running, emigrating, going, deserting, walking, quitting, flying, fleeing – to all over, to countries near and far, to countries unheard of, to countries whose names they cannot pronounce. They are leaving in droves.”

The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri

In 10 words: The story of brothers with opposite futures spans three generations.

Quote:“Amid the gray, an incongruous band of daytime blue asserts itself. To the west, a pink sun already begins its descent. The effect is of three isolated aspects, distinct phases of the day. All of it, strewn across the horizon, is contained in his vision.”

A Tale For The Time Being by Ruth Ozeki

In 10 words: A suicidal Japanese teenager’s diary discovered by an American novelist.

Quote:“Sometimes when grown-ups are talking to you, and you stare back at them, they start to like they’re inside one of those old-fashioned TV sets, the kind with the thick dark glass, and you can see their mouths moving, only the exact words get drowned out into a lot of staticky white noise so you can barely understand them, which didn’t matter because I wasn’t listening anyway. Mom was talking on and on like a breakfast TV show host, and Muji was burping and trilling like a drunken sparrow, and Jiko was pretending to sleep, Dad was exhaling clouds of cigarette smoke into my clean underpants that were still hanging on the laundry line because in all the excitement Id forgotten to take them down, but none of this mattered because I was deep inside my mind, which is where I go when things get too intense.”

The Testament of Mary by Colm Toibin

In 10 words: An intimate biography of Mary, years after her son’s crucifixion.

Quote: I like it that they feed me and pay for my clothes and protect me. And in return I will do for them what I can, but no more than that. Just as I cannot breathe the breath of another or help the heart of someone else to beat or their bones not to weaken or their flesh not to shrivel, I cannot say more than I can say. And I know how deeply this disturbs them, and it would make me smile, this earnest need for foolish anecdote or sharp simple patterns in the story of what happened to us all, except that I have forgotten how to smile.”

Wes Bentley is in negotiations to join the all-star cast of Christopher Nolan's sci-fi movie Interstellar.

Bentley's casting fills the final vacant slot in the Interstellar lineup, which already includes Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck and Topher Grace.
The script, by Nolan and his brother Jonathan Nolan, involves time travel and alternate dimensions and sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, as is Bentley's character description, though insiders describe it as a meaty supporting role.

Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. are teaming on the big-budget tentpole that will be produced by Nolan, Emma Thomas and Lynda Obst. Jordan Goldberg is exec producing.

Bentley, who played Seneca in The Hunger Games, has quietly become one of the busiest actors in film. He appeared in eight films in 2012, including the mystery thriller Gone. He also co-stars in the upcoming Lovelace, which premiered at Sundance.

Last month, he was cast as the lead role Ryan Murphy's new HBO pilot Open.
Bentley is repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment and Morris Yorn Barnes.

THINK LIKE A BUG: TIPS ON SQUASHING THE COMPETITION FROM CHARLES DARWIN, STEVE JOBS& MADONNA

$
0
0
IT'S A TOUGH WORLD OUT THERE, AND THE COMPETITION IS FIERCE. HERE'S HOW SOME OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST LEADERS HAVE EMBRACED THE CHALLENGE, AND ONE-UPPED THE OTHER GUY.

At a fourth of July barbecue, New York Times reporter, William J. Broad marveled at his hosts’ ability to keep mosquitoes at bay with an unlikely weapon--an electric fan.

Curious as to how his hosts had come up with the idea, in a story for the New York Times, the reporter traces the dissemination of the information all the way back to its originator, a Philadelphia businessman, who told him, “The solution came from trying to think like a bug, and realizing ‘I don’t like flying into a 15 mph wind.’” Since mosquitoes are weak flyers that clock in at a pokey 1 to 1.5 mph, the blow-‘em-away theory works.

Fight Club:
How Enemies Power Innovation

This think-like-a-bug philosophy reminded us of the adage, “Know your enemy.” We’ve all heard the maxim, “Know your customer,” but that will only get you so far if part of your mission is to dominate or defeat a condition, say, Barbecue Host vs. Mosquitos or Big Pharma vs. the Big C. Or if your mission, in large part, involves dominating or defeating a rival as in Coke vs. Pepsi or Instagram vs. Vine. Sometimes for you to win your rival has to lose. So in a world of fierce competition, why do recent studies suggest that business managers who think-like-their-enemies are in the minority?

There are a few obvious ways to gather intel on those you are trying to best: Become a customer by buying your competitor’s products, talk to their customers about their likes and dislikes, check out their social media sites, set up Google alerts, even buy some stock from your rival so you can get financial information. But here are some more creative tips you can take from successful people who understand that a large measure of success depends on beating out the competition.

MADONNA

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

A once-cutting edge business that has been around for years could learn a lesson from Madonna, whose first single was released over three decades ago. While most aging artists (and businesses) become uncool nostalgia acts or go quietly into the night, Madonna still commands the public’s attention. Her secret to staying relevant? Instead of viewing younger artists as competition she associates herself with them and appropriates their art. When Madonna headlined the 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Show (that she reportedly beat out Lady Gaga for), it was no accident that a posse of up-and-coming artists--LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., and Cee Lo Green--surrounded the 53-year-old superstar like planets orbiting the sun. This keeping-up-with-the-kids protocol has been a Madonna staple since she first began to recycle personae: She incorporated vogue-ing from the Harlem ballroom scene for her song “Vogue,” (1990) suggestively kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera (2003), copped krumping for her video of “Hung Up,” (2005) and purloined cheerleader chic from Nicola Robert’s “Beat of My Drum” for “Give Me All Your Luvin’” (2012). The list goes on. And how did that Super Bowl gig work out? Two days after the show, Madonna announced the MDNA Tour, (allegedly to beat out Gaga’s announcement of her competing tour). MDNA was the highest grossing tour of 2012--taking in over $305 million. And Gaga’s tour? Eighteen dates into her Born This Way Tour, the 25-year-old injured herself and had to call off the rest of her shows.

STEVE JOBS

Steal like Jobs.

In 1979 the 24-year-old Steve Jobs famously snookered Xerox. Jobs struck a deal: He’d let Xerox buy shares in Apple if Xerox would “open its kimono.” When Jobs was given a tour of the Xerox PARC research labs, he saw their “mouse,” “icons,” and "windows.” Jobs stole them all for Apple as well as the Xerox engineer Larry Tesler, who had given him the tour. The rest is history.

ARIANNA HUFFINGTON

Compete with yourself.

For an alt view: Arianna Huffington believes that the red meat competition model of us vs. them is “a kind of macho thing.” In a recent speech the founder of the Huffington Post said, “I think women are beginning to change the way we approach how we run our businesses.” Does Huffington spend her nights worrying about the latest competitor who might blow HuffPo out of the water? No. She suggests another approach to competing with your rivals: “Each unique media operation has its own DNA. We need to identify what it is, and stay true to that.” And who can argue with the results? Because Huffington stayed true to her vision of an online platform with a strong political view written by an international cast of thousands of celebrities, experts, and just plain folks, HuffPo is now the most popular political blog with 39 million unique viewers a month. “The bottom line,” said Huffington, “is that we are competing with ourselves.”

CHARLES DARWIN

Know when your competitor is about to launch a similar product.

Twenty-seven years after Charles Darwin set sail on the 1831 Beagle voyage, he was still tinkering with his book on the theory of natural selection. In 1858 Darwin was shocked to receive a parcel from a colleague Alfred Russel Wallace with an unpublished paper outlining an evolutionary theory very similar to Darwin’s. In a letter to a mentor who had warned him that if he didn’t publish his theory quickly he might not be credited with its discovery, Darwin wrote: “Your words have come true with a vengeance," and as a result "all my originality, whatever it may amount to, will be smashed.” Fueled by competition, Darwin raced to finish his book. One year later, in 1859, Darwin’s On the Origin of Species was published and Darwin, not Wallace, got the credit. Added value: Lit critics say that since the book was written so hastily, it is much more lyrical and approachable than the scientific, heavily footnoted tome that Darwin had originally imagined. The moral is, if you know the competition is about to launch--go live first.

Rest of the list at source.

Celebrity Wife Swap Preview: Surprises in Store for One-Hit Wonders Sisqo and Gerardo!

One-hit wonders Gerardo (Rico Suave) and Sisqo (The Thong Song) trade spouses on Sunday's episode of Celebrity Wife Swap — and immediately, Sisqo's girlfriend Elizabeth realizes that she might be getting more than she bargained for.

When Elizabeth was wandering around the house trying to figure out which celebrity she had been matched with, one of Gerardo's dogs was upstairs locked in a bedroom, he tells TVGuide.

"They closed him in upstairs," Gerardo explains. "So when I come in and say hello to her and I'm showing her the house, there's just tons of poop. ... And the thing is, it's the little dog, and the little dog's my wife's dog. So I was like, that's not my dog. So my new 'wife' in the house had to clean up that mess. I don't think she really enjoyed that part of it."

And that wasn't the only thing Elizabeth and Gerardo clashed on during their week together. Other points of contention included the singer's 17-year-old daughter's curfew time, his "open-door policy" of welcoming people into his family's home, and his penchant for walking around the house shirtless.

"My new wife is telling me, 'Put your shirt on now. You're not Rico Suave anymore,'" Gerardo recalls. "That was funny. ... At the end of the day, we had a really good time."

Russian Neo-Nazis Allegedly Lure, Torture Gay Teens With Online Dating Scam

$
0
0
A neo-Nazi group in Russia has apparently enacted a disturbing campaign against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth by allegedly using a popular social network to lure in victims and torture them.

The Spectrum Human Rights Alliance (SHRA), an LGBT rights group focusing on Eastern Europe, claims the campaigns -- called "Occupy Pedophilyaj" and "Occupy Gerontilyaj" -- were launched by former skinhead and Russian ultranationalist Maxim Martsinkevich to purportedly identify and report pedophiles. However, the group's method may be to target male teens who respond to same-sex personals ads on Russia's Facebook equivalent, VK.com. Group members are said to meet the boys when they show up for the supposed date; they bully the boys and even torture them, all while recording the encounters on camera.

"These self-proclaimed 'crime fighters' perform their actions under the broad day light, often outside and clearly visible to general public that indifferently passes by or even commend them," writes SHRA on its website. "Video recordings of bullying and tortures are freely distributed on the Internet in order to out LGBT teens to their respective schools, parents and friends. Many victims were driven to suicides, the rest are deeply traumatized."

SHRA points to a YouTube video showing a group of young people allegedly connected with this movement who are seen interrogating a teen boy at what appears to be a housing compound, according to a translation by The Huffington Post.

The group approaches the teen and asks him if he had come there to meet someone named "Uncle Dima." Then they bring him over to a bench and continue the interrogation. They ask why he was there to meet Dima and the boy admits he is there to have sex, possibly for money. Although the group members mock him, they are friendly at times, and the teen is willing to admit things about himself and his sexual preference. He says who he is, where he's from, what school he goes to and that he is 15 years old.

Toward the end of the video the aggression heightens. At one point, one person who stepped slightly out of frame and appeared to urinate into a bottle, attempts to pour the contents of the bottle onto the teen's head. Another kicks the teen. Then the video cuts off.

Earlier this month, Russian online newspaper Lenta met with those who have joined the "Occupy-Pedofilyay" campaign to learn more about the movement.

"We do not like homosexuals," the leader of one local gathering explained, according to a HuffPost translation. "If it was up to me, I'd kill them but the government doesn't allow that."

"I think practically all gay men -- pedophiles," he later explained. "Once you've crossed over once, you can cross over again. Today he likes boys, and then it'll be children. They're not suitable for life in society."

Anti-gay sentiments across the nation have made headlines recently. Just weeks ago, President Vladimir Putin signed into law the so-called "homosexual propaganda" bill, which imposes fines upon people found guilty of sharing information about homosexuality to minors. This week, four Dutch tourists were jailed under this law.Earlier this month, Russian online newspaper Lenta met with those who have joined the "Occupy-Pedofilyay" campaign to learn more about the movement.

In 1995, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn came to life on the big screen in a very disappointing way. Jamie Foxx apparently wants to change that, as according to an interview Foxx did at Comic-Con with Movies.com, the actor is “aggressively pursuing” rebooting Spawn with Foxx playing the titular demon.

Per Movies.com’s interview with Foxx:

As versatile as Foxx seems to be these days, there are still projects he’s trying to make happen, including an adaptation of the comic character Spawn, as well as a biopic about Mike Tyson. “Spawn is one, yeah. And Mike Tyson. Those are two roles I would just love to do. I’m aggressively pursuing them."

Foxx solidified his acting credibility by taking home the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 film Ray. He's also dipping his toe in the comic book movie pond, with his role as Electro in next year’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

She is a talented singer and impressive dancer, but no one can be good at everything.
And it seems Britney Spears may have something of a blind spot when it comes to style.
The star once again managed to fall short on Thursday as she took sons Sean Preston and Jayden James for lunch in Thousand Oaks.

The 31-year-old sported a pair of garish pink high top wedge trainers and turned up her jeans to accommodate them.
Britney appeared to be attempting to combine an urban look with a prim one, as she also sported a pale blue lacy blouse which entirely clashed with her shoes.
The top displayed the black bra the Till The World End hit-maker was wearing underneath as she left the Napa Tavern, one of her favourite haunts.

But her appearance wasn’t of top priority for the star, who went make-up free and scraped her hair into a low-key updo.
Instead, Britney was more focused on enjoying some quality time with her two boys from her marriage to Kevin Federline.
The blonde carried a box of leftover food from the eatery while Sean munched on something as he led the way.

The seven-year-old was dressed in a blue and yellow striped rugby shirt, denim shorts and orange and black trainers.
Meanwhile six-year-old Jayden, who wore a blue and white checked shirt with cargo shorts and red trainers, sweetly helped to open the door of the restaurant.
The cute boys just made their big debut in their mother’s music video for Ooh La La, which will play over the credits of The Smurfs 2 when it hits cinemas on July 31.

Britney just inked a deal with Caesar Entertainment granting her a residency with Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, beginning in the autumn.
If everything goes smoothly, the former Mousketeer would launch her concerts at the same time her hotly anticipated new record drops.
Britney reportedly faced Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz on Monday to say 'how excited she was to be performing in Las Vegas,' a source told RadarOnline.
The meeting, which took place as Britney has been under conservatorship since 2008, is said to have gone on for 45 minutes and ended very favourably.

This is the first major revival of the play which dazzled London when it opened at the Royal Court, prior to a sell-out West End run in 1996.

Mojo, winner of the Olivier award for Best New Comedy, reunites two of British theatre’s great collaborators; writer Jez Butterworth and director Ian Rickson who, as well as the original production of Mojo, gave us the multi award-winning, hit sensation Jerusalem and the critically acclaimed The River. Ian Rickson is also fresh from other successes including Old Times and Betrayal.

Set against the fledgling rock ‘n’ roll scene of 50s Soho, this savagely funny play delves into the sleazy underworld and power games of London’s most infamous district.

Featuring a strong ensemble cast including Brendan Coyle(Downton Abbey, The Weir), Rupert Grint(Harry Potter, Driving Lessons), Daniel Mays(Made in Dagenham, Mrs Biggs, The Winterling) and Ben Whishaw(Skyfall, The Hour, Peter and Alice), sign up now to receive Priority Booking information for what promises to be an extraordinary new production of this modern classic.
