"Glee" held on to most of its increased audience from last week's (supposed) school shooting episode, while "American Idol" saw a backslide after its best Thursday numbers in a month a week ago. It was the biggest show of the night, though CBS and ABC were airing mostly reruns.

Over on NBC, "Hannibal" also saw a drop in ratings, going from a 4.37 million average over its first two episodes to 3.5 million for its third episode, but both "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" saw an uptick of a couple hundred thousand viewers.

CBS' reruns were good for a win, just edging out FOX. The Eye averaged 9.2 million viewers and a 5.9 rating/9 share in households, while FOX was at 9.1 million viewers, a 5.8/9. ABC trailed at third with 4 million viewers and a 2.7/4, followed by NBC at 3.2 million, 2.0/3 and the CW at 1.9 million, 1.2/2.

In the adults 18-49 demo, FOX won with a 2.5, followed by CBS (2.3), NBC (1.4), ABC (1.2) and the CW (0.7).

Manhunt for Boston Bombing Suspect - Live Discussion Post 5

0
0

One suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings is dead. The other -- his brother -- was on the run Friday, pursued by an army of law enforcement officials whose manhunt virtually shut down the city.

A man identified by several sources as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died after an overnight shootout with police. He's the man described Thursday by the FBI as black-capped Suspect No. 1 in the attacks Monday that killed three.

His brother, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, apparently escaped -- leading police to throw a huge dragnet around the region. In photos released by the FBI of the bombing suspects, the younger brother is seen wearing a white cap. The agency called him Suspect No. 2.

Iconic graphic designer Storm Thorgerson dies aged 69

Storm Thorgerson, the British graphic designer behind some of the most memorable album covers of all time, including Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, has died aged 69.

The designer, who also created artwork for bands and musicians including Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and Muse over his 40 year career, died peacefully after having been ill for some time with cancer.

Thorgerson began his career with UK design group Hipgnosis, founded in the late 1960s, and his distinctive style made him one of the industry's most recognisable artists.

A childhood friend of the founding members of Pink Floyd, he became their designer-in-chief, most famously creating the prism spreading a spectrum of colour across the cover of The Dark Side of the Moon, which became one of the bestselling albums of all time. His artwork for the band also included the lonesome-looking cow on the cover of Atom Heart Mother, the burning businessman on the sleeve of Wish You Were Here, and the giant pig flying over Battersea power station on the cover of Animals.

In a statement, Thorgerson's family said he died peacefully on Thursday surrounded by family and friends.

"He had been ill for some time with cancer though he had made a remarkable recovery from his stroke in 2003," the statement said. "He is survived by his mother Vanji, his son Bill, his wife Barbie Antonis and her two children Adam and Georgia."

Pink Floyd guitarist and singer Dave Gilmour said in a statement on his website that Thorgerson's artwork for the band had been "an inseparable part of our work".

He said: "We first met in our early teens. We would gather at Sheep's Green, a spot by the river in Cambridge, and Storm would always be there holding forth, making the most noise, bursting with ideas and enthusiasm. Nothing has ever really changed.

"He has been a constant force in my life, both at work and in private, a shoulder to cry on and a great friend. I will miss him."

A statement on the official Pink Floyd website said: "We are saddened by the news that long-time Pink Floyd graphic genius, friend and collaborator, Storm Thorgerson, has died. Our thoughts are with his family and many friends."

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and was so shocked / sad when I found out this morning that he'd died... I didn't even know he had cancer. I've had the pleasure of speaking to him once and he was a very down-to-earth, sweet and genuinely interesting person. I just wanted to remember & somehow pay tribute to him, and posting some of his work seemed like the most appropriate way to do it. Hope it's alright.

NBC Pulls ‘Hannibal’ Episode in Wake of Boston Bombings

0
0

After several particularly violent months in America, NBC has decided to pull episode four of frosh drama “Hannibal” from its lineup due to the disturbing content involving children murdering other children.

Fourth episode of the grisly serial killer drama featured Molly Shannon’s character brainwashing kids, leading them to kill other children.

Episode four was slated to air next week. Peacock will instead move directly to episode five. While the drama is serialized, NBC claims there will be no continuity issues, noting that TV critics have seen episodes three and five, and not four.

Decision arose after series creator Bryan Fuller phoned NBC and told the net that, “given the cultural climate right now in the U.S., I think we shouldn’t air the episode in its entirety.”

"I didn’t want to have anyone come to the show and have a negative experience,” Fuller told Variety. “Whenever you [write] a story and look at the sensational aspects of storytelling, you think, ‘This is interesting metaphorically, and this is interesting as social commentary.’ With this episode, it wasn’t about the graphic imagery or violence. It was the associations that came with the subject matter that I felt would inhibit the enjoyment of the overall episode. … It was my own sensitivity.”

Fuller cited the Sandy Hook shooting in December and this week’s Boston Marathon bombings as the root of this sensitivity issue. “Hannibal,” from Gaumont Intl., was filmed before the events in Newtown, Conn., had transpired.

By pulling episode four from the lineup, NBC has effectively bumped the frosh season of “Hannibal” up a week. The season finale for “Hannibal,” originally slated for June 27, will now be on June 20.

Incident is just another example of TV execs and creatives pulling content in the wake of violent events over the last few months. This week, ABC pushed an episode of “Castle” where Detective Kate Beckett steps on a pressure-sensitive bomb to April 29, though Alphabet may push the episode even further if it is still deemed too insensitive given recent events.

What’s more, after the Sandy Hook shooting, Syfy yanked an episode of “Haven,” which featured a school violence storyline. TLC delayed one-off “Best Funeral Ever” and Fox pulled episodes of its Sunday night toon skeins “Family Guy” and “American Dad” that execs felt were inappropriate given what had occurred in Connecticut days earlier.

Fans of “Hannibal” will still be able to see clips from episode four, however. NBC is making a package of clips from the yanked episode available on NBC.com next week. It focuses on character development and not the procedural element featured in episode four of “Hannibal.” Package will feature Fuller offering voice over and discussing the series.

“This is also a great opportunity to provide another platform for the show that can draw audiences to social media and give them original content that’s not just a behind-the-scenes special, but a webisode featuring the primary cast, which is a rare thing to get on the net,” Fuller explained.

But, mostly, Fuller said, “We want to be respectful of the social climate we’re in right now.”

Peacock notes that the fourth episode will run overseas, but not in the States.

Sienna Miller talks about motherhood + event photos

Factory Girl star Sienna Miller was photographed with her 9-month-old daughter Marlowe in New York City on Wednesday (April 17). The new mom, also seen with fiancé Tom Sturridge, dressed in spring colors alongside her baby girl in the Big Apple.

“My daughter monopolises my time. I spend my days making pureed food for her,” Sienna said. “Becoming a mother [has] made me not miss working in the industry. For the time being at least, I prefer watching my daughter grow up.”

It sounds like Sienna’s life has become a lot less about fame, and more about family.

“My life is this: my baby and my dog,” she said. “My fiancé is in a play at the moment, he’s busy working a lot.”

She added: “My 20s were a bit crazy. I spent those years working and being repeatedly persecuted by the media. Nowadays, I can be the woman I truly am, more calm, and freer too. I turned 30 and I suddenly had much less energy.”

Zooey Deschanel Reponds To Being ID'd As Boston Bomber

Apparently, closed captioning thought “Dzhokhar Tsarnaev” sounded a lot like “Zooey Deschanel.”

This was what FOX 4 Breaking News in Dallas-Fort Worth had on closed caption Friday night.

In their defense, for a while there, there was so much misinformation going around, it was plausible a 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel COULD have been a suspect.

Rob Pattinson & Kristen Stewart step out running errands with their dog Bernie in LA - April 17th

0
0

Still loved-up, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have been spotted running errands with the third member of their family, their baby and cute puppy, Bernie. As their millions of Twi-hards know, the Twilight lovers have two dogs - - Bear and Bernie. Both of them have been rescued by the lovers.

Both Robert and Kristen appeared relaxed in their usual casual looks: Rob sported a black, jeans short, teaming it up with one of his favorite gray T-Shirt with “Bad Religion” imprinted on it. Kristen for her part stepped out in white T-shirt and light blue, skinny jeans and the same pair of shoes she was wearing on a night out with Rob and friends at Marcus Foster concert on April 17. K-Stew ditched her maroon baseball cap with “Us Versus Them” emblasoned on it. She went for the light blue cap that matched her skinny jeans. The 23-year-old star had never looked gorgeous albeit without make-up. Completing their looks are dark glasses for both of them.

Robert and Kristen appeared to be running errands as could be noted in the plastic bag held by the British hunk as he was walking side-by-side his lady love. From the series of new photos, only Rob was snapped seemingly chatting with Kristen while his girl was listening with the familiar glum on her face.

You will almost miss Bernie who was left at the passenger seat of the car. Only when Robert was photographed playing with him would you realize that the lovers had indeed one of their babies with them. While Kristen was going to the driver’s seat with a set of keys in her hands, Robert was seen kissing Bernie, who is rarely seen in public with his superstar owners.

Bernie is one of the two dogs Robert and Kristen rescued together from a settlement dog house. The lovers have other dog named Bear, and it was reported early this month that one of Kristen’s wishes on her 23rd birthday was to have a third puppy, in addition to Bear and Bernie.

“As far as gifts are concerned, she doesn’t want anything because she feels like she already has everything. Spending time with Rob is the best birthday present for her,”a source was quoted as saying by HollywoodLife.com, adding, “If she were to want a gift from Rob, it would be another rescue dog. Another friend for Bear and Bernie…another member of the family.”
