Reps for the show — starring “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke, and based on Capote’s 1958 novella — even offered complimentary first-class round-trip airfare for the ashes and their owner, Johnny Carson’s ex Joanne Carson, to travel from Bel Air to New York and appear at an Edison Ballroom after-party.
But given people’s past predilection for trying to steal Capote’s remains, it was too risky.
“[Joanne] Carson was Capote’s closest confidante in his later years,” said a source, “and she keeps a portion of his cremated remains in an urn in her Bel Air home, in the room in which he died in 1984.”
The ashes were infamously stolen from Carson’s house during a 1988 Halloween party — along with $200,000 in jewels — and then the remains were just as mysteriously returned in the middle of the night. Meanwhile, Capote’s late, longtime lover Jack Dunphy openly disputed whether the ashes Carson kept were even Capote’s at all.
Adding to the intrigue, the same ashes were the target of another thief years later, when Carson brought them to a bash she hosted for a play about Capote, “Tru.” That culprit, says a source, was caught “before he could make it out the door” with a piece of the acclaimed novelist.
“We did try to get him here,” confirmed a “Breakfast” rep of Capote’s ashes. “Joanne says he always wanted to [see] Holly Golightly open on Broadway, and we thought it would have been poignant for the entire company. I think ultimately the risk of theft was just too high, but he was certainly there in spirit.”
Joanne has said of Capote, “His ashes were my sanity for . . . years. Truman often referred to me as his very own Holly Golightly come to life. He always told me you could be anything you wanted but, whatever happens, never be boring.”
The star-studded black-and-white-themed after-party for “Breakfast” was hosted by Debbie Harry and Interview magazine.
Sources say Biel is spending $20,000 per week on designer shoes and bags from New York City department stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys NY.
"She can't resist anything from Chanel, Prada or Valentino," a source revealed to US magazine Star.
[Jess's closet was so] overstuffed, she had to rent a storage unit to house her new goodies!"
The 31-year-old Total Recall actress married Timberlake in October 2012 at a ceremony held in Italy. The singer is known for being a dapper dresser and his recent single Suit & Tie is a reference to his high regard for fashion and style.
Timberlake is reportedly keen for his wife to mirror his interest in clothes. It has been alleged that Biel has been funding her new designer wardrobe with her husband's credit card as a result.
"Justin can afford it, but he's still a little taken aback by how voraciously she's spending," the insider laughed.
Jess's recent fashion overhaul has been noticed by her long-time stylist and friend Estee Stanley. In February Estee told People that the star's new red carpet confidence is thanks to a certain accessory she's been sporting on her wedding ring finger.
"I definitely think any woman changes after [she gets] married," Estee noted. "I feel like she feels more secure and safe on the planet having found her partner."
The source is Star so you know it's not the greatest in the world. Still I couldn't imagine spending that much on clothes a week.

Original voice actors return for DuckTales Remastered
The full voice cast of the original DuckTales cartoon will reprise their respective roles for the newly announced nostalgiapocalypse DuckTales Remastered, Capcom senior vice-president Christian Svensson revealed in a Capcom Unity forum thread yesterday.
"We have ALL the original voice actors from the show," Svensson said, including Scrooge voice actor Alan Young, who "still came into the studio and did his thing like a pro. The voice work really adds a lot to the package."
"Scrooge's voice actor," as a quick aside, is a man named Alan Young, who's been in the entertainment industry since the 1940s. Before he endeared himself to the hearts of millions as a penny-pinching old duck, Young's original claim to fame was as Wilbur Post, the star of Mister Ed. We wonder if Young knew at the time that talking animals would become a running theme for his 70-odd years in show business?
Update: Joystiq has been contacted by a representative for Alan Young, who clarified the details of Mr. Young's entertainment career.
Too many feels right now !!!!
Britney kept a really low profile at Cirque du Soleil’s One Drop performance at the Bellagio in Las Vegas on Friday.
Before the show, Brit, her boyfriend David Lucado, managers and Caesars Entertainment execs dined at Nobu inside Caesars. Afterwards, they made their way to the O Theater inside Bellagio for the show. She made a quick entrance to her seats (third row from the stage) right when the show started, and left before the finale to avoid any photographs. It was a success, not one has popped up onto the Internet.
She wasn’t here for a media circus, reports VegasDeluxe‘s Robin Leach. But her Vegas trip isn’t for just pleasure. “Britney wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t a done deal,” a source tells Leach.
Tonight, she’s expected to attend Shania Twain’s show at the Collosseum inside Caesar’s Palace. The venue is considerably larger, so it’ll be harder for her to hide from nearby shutterbug fans, however Shania’s show is a no-camera zone, so she just might cruise this trip completely off the radar.
Britney Attending Shania Twain's show
Britney attended the One Drop performance at Bellagio in Las Vegas on Friday, and is scheduled to be Shania Twain’s special guest at her performance tonight at the Colosseum inside Caesars Palalace Saturday evening.
Let’s see if it’ll be another low profile event! Or not.

Canadian-born actor Ryan Gosling has told the Associated Press he plans to take a break from acting and needs time to “reassess” his career.
Gosling, who has been seen in Drive, Gangster Squad, The Ides of March and Crazy, Stupid Love in the past two years believes he is overexposed.
"I've been doing it too much," he said. "I've lost perspective on what I'm doing. I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does."
The actor is also becoming an internet meme, with people posting photos of Gosling with a caption that starts “Hey girl” and then gives some advice in his supposed voice.
Gosling did not say when that break might come. He will appear in two more films to be released this year, Only God Forgives and The Place Beyond the Pines, a collaboration with director Derek Cianfrance, who helped establish his credibility as an actor with the gritty 2010 film Blue Valentine.
Gosling is also preparing to step into directing with How to Catch a Monster, about a mother trying to find her teenaged son in an underwater fantasy world.
Born in London, Ont., and home-schooled by his mother, he began his career as a child actor at age 12 with the Mickey Mouse Club. He had TV roles on Breaker High, Are You Afraid of the Dark and Young Hercules, before his breakout role in film, The Believer, in in which he played a neo-Nazi teenager.
His heartthrob status began with 2004 romance The Notebook, but Gosling has since stayed away from typical leading man roles, choosing quirky indie vehicles such as Lars and the Real Girl and Half Nelson that displayed the range of his acting skill.
"There's a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film," he said. "I have done it. It's not my favorite way to work."
His The Place Beyond The Pines co-star Ben Mendelsohn says Gosling concentrates on building relationships with fellow actors on the set and that makes a difference to the kind of performance they can give on-screen.
"Ryan, without terribly much trouble, could be the world's most ginormous box-office juggernaut type of thing," says Mendelsohn, who'll co-star in Gosling's soon-to-begin-filming directorial debut. "From what I can gather, his interests are a lot more nuanced."
“American Gothic” is the title for the March 28 episode of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, and today, the network has released some preview images.
Here’s how the network describes the episode, which seems to be setting up the upcoming Originals spin-off attempt pretty well:
RACE FOR THE CURE — Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) take off in search of Katherine (also played by Nina Dobrev) and find themselves in a small town in Pennsylvania, where Elena has a surprising encounter with another old acquaintance — Elijah (guest star Daniel Gillies). Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) are both concerned about Elena’s state of mind and are determined to do what’s best for her, but she makes it clear that helping her will be difficult. Damon is not sure how to react when Stefan reveals his unexpected plan for the future. Meanwhile, in Mystic Falls, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) receives Caroline’s (Candice Accola) reluctant help and comes to a new understanding of Silas’ powers. Kellie Cyrus directed the episode written by Evan Bleiweiss & Jose Molina (#418).
You've seen the cover of the new JJ Abrams-themed Empire magazine. You've read a few snippets from our JJ Abrams interview about Superman Flyby and about his plans for Star Wars: Episode VII. Now it's time to feast your eyes on two new stills from Star Trek Into Darkness, showing Kirk, Spock and Uhura (Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana respectively) in a bit of difficulty, and Uhura laying the smackdown.
Now a glance at these stills won't spoil anything for you, but if you've been avoiding all spoilers like the plague, you might not want to examine them too closely. In particular, you shouldn't look too closely at what's lying on the ground behind Spock, Kirk and Uhura - yeah, that bit to the right. You also shouldn't pay too much attention to what Uhura's holding in the other image, just in case it leads you to any conclusions.
There's much, much more about the film in the May issue of Empire, of course, which also includes everything from a reunion of John Carpenter and Kurt Russell to a first-look at Tom Hanks in Paul Greengrass' Hijacked. That hits newsstands next Thursday, March 28, just in time for your Easter break.
Star Trek Into Darkness hits screens on May 9 in the UK. As you know by now, it's directed by the aforementioned JJ Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Karl Urban, Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve.
Screw the haters. I love seeing Kirk/Spock/Uhura. <3
Since Demi Lovato joined The X Factor, have you noticed how her style has become a bit edgier? It turns out Demi didn't have a fashion change of heart but an intervention from Topshop. “We’ve been working with Demi quietly for the last six months,” Sir Philip Green, owner of Topshop, said. “We’ve been dressing her and helping to develop her. My guys have done a great job. We’re just helping out.”
Adds Sir Philip, "After she landed the X Factor gig," he told Haute Living, "we had one of my girls look after her to see how we could help develop her styling. She became a lot more interested in clothes generally.”

Jennifer Lopez has sparked rumors that she is collaborating with Chris Brown on her upcoming album.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday (March 20), Lopez posted an image of herself, Brown and producer Cory Rooney in a recording studio as she worked on her tenth studio album.
The former American Idol judge wrote: "@chrisbrown @CORYROONEY @BEAUcasperSMART @missgillygrace #studiolife #makinghistory #Album10 #SAMEGIRL"
This week, Lopez revealed that she would be splitting her time between acting and music in an interview with Extra.
The 43-year-old artist said: "At this point in my life, I feel like with everything that I have gone through personally and professionally, I'm at a really good time for acting," adding: "I'm going to make my 10th album this year as well!"
Over the past 12 months, Lopez has collaborated with the likes of Pitbull and Flo Rida for singles 'On The Floor' and 'Goin' In'.
New Daft Punk Album, 'Random Access Memories,' Coming Out in May
Long-awaited project available for pre-order on iTunes
After months of swirling rumors, details of the new Daft Punk album are finally surfacing. Random Access Memories will be coming out May 21st on the imprint Daft Life Limited through Columbia Records.
The French duo's follow-up to 2010's Tron: Legacy soundtrack became available for pre-order on iTunes this afternoon. The site indicates that there will be 13 tracks on the album, but the titles are not yet listed. Vinyl and CD copies can be pre-ordered through the band's new website for the album.
Daft Punk gave a small taste of Random Access Memories earlier this month when it aired a mysterious 15-second trailer featuring new music during a Saturday Night Live broadcast, though the title and release date remained unknown at the time. Producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers has also been dropping hints about his own involvement in the new album.
A second trailer for the album appeared during last night's SNL, officially announcing the album and offering another snippet from the album. Watch the clip above.
NBC "Today" news anchor Jenna Wolfe announced on the morning show on Wednesday that she is having a baby girl with partner and NBC News correspondent Stephanie Gosk, acknowledging her gay partnership publicly for the first time.
"This is big for me, I'm actually pregnant," Wolfe, who is the anchor for "Weekend Today," said. "I'm quite pregnant, actually."
Wolfe said the baby is due on August 27 and that she will keep a diary-style blog about her pregnancy.
"It's ... about documenting my fears, funnies and follies that come with doing this for the first time," Wolfe wrote in her first entry. "I've never changed a diaper ... I don't really understand what a breast pump is."
Wolfe, 39, and Gosk, 40, have been together for three years.
The couple told People magazine that Wolfe underwent artificial insemination from an anonymous donor in December and that they are also planning to wed.
Wolfe made her announcement in the same week that the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in two cases regarding same sex marriage.
In a message posted on her Facebook page, Lindsey Morgan has announced her departure from General Hospital. The actress joined the series last April as the daughter of Sonny and Alexis.
Based on the wording of Morgan’s message, one can only wonder if the soap plans on recasting the role once more. Previously, Morgan took over from actress Lexi Ainsworth.
