Hosted by comedian Tom Arnold, the one-hour, 10-episode series follows the real-life, naturally-entertaining extended Clampet family, born and raised in the South, as they embark on a “fish out of water” experience by visiting a fancy beach rental in the Hamptons for the summer, indulging in the high-end lifestyle of the Upper East Coast and bringing their southern flair to any situation.

MY BIG REDNECK VACATION premieres Saturday, January 21 at 9:30 – 10:30 p.m., ET/PT on CMT

The guys go to a bar in New York and start talking with some of the locals, who are fascinated with their accents and the fact that they're from Louisiana. When they talk about eating alligator, the New Yorkers force them to try raw oysters.

The family's RV breaks down, so they have to wait for a repairman at a rest stop. They break out the lawn chairs and beer, and practice their bow hunting skills while they wait.

The family is at a party in Louisiana before they go up to New York, and they talk about what they want to do and what they expect to find on their vacation.

CW orders new Green Arrow pilot and a revamp of 1980s Beauty and The Beast

The CW has order a trio of pilots that include "Arrow," "The Carrie Diaries" and "Beauty and The Beast."

"Arrow" is an hour-long drama based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. Here's hoping they do it as well as Smallville, which even though it strayed from the original comic was a huge hit and loved by audiences across the nation. (Justin Hartman Hartley who played Green Arrow on Smallville is not tied to this project.)

Set in Carrie Bradshaw's youth, "The Carrie Diaries" is set in the 1980's with Carrie discovering love, sex and friendship in high school in Manhattan - not science fiction, but worth checking out.

Remember that lovely series back the 80's with Ron Perlman and Lnda Hamilton about an educated, romantic beast living under the city? Well the new series is loosely based on that one only it's "a modern day romantic love story with a procedural twist."

If these pilots are well received you can expect to see them on CW's 2012 Fall schedule.

Skier Sarah Burke dies a week after crash

Freestyle skier Sarah Burke died Thursday, a week after suffering a serious head injury while training in Utah.

"Sarah was someone who lived life to the fullest," said Peter Judge, CEO of the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association. "She was an example in her community and to young people. She'll be gravely missed."

Burke had been in training at the Eagle Superpipe at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah when she fell on Jan. 10 and suffered a ruptured vertebral artery that caused a severe hemorrhage in her brain and put her into cardiac arrest.

She was taken to the University of Utah Hospital and placed on life support. She underwent surgery to repair the artery and was placed into a state of therapeutic hypothermia to protect her brain. But she failed to recover.

Tests determined she had suffered irreversible brain damage due to lack of oxygen to the brain during her heart attack. She remained in a coma until her death.

She died surrounded by family and friends at the hospital at about 9:22 a.m. Her organs have been donated to save the lives of others.

"I'm stunned from the standpoint that it's a reality," said Judge. "Certainly we've known from the start that it was a significant possibility but any time that it comes to fruition, obviously you're not prepared for something like that, especially with someone like Sarah.

"My heart just goes out to Rory, her husband who is deeply involved in what she does. It's brutal.

"It's difficult for us to imagine the pain and what they're going through."

Burke's family said in a release from the ski association that they wish "to express their deep gratitude to Sarah's dear friends for their love and support, and for travelling to Salt Lake City to comfort the family." And they added that they were "moved by the sincere and heartfelt sympathy expressed by people inspired by Sarah from all around the world."

The family also thanked the hospital and in particular the Neuro Critical Care Unit for their help.

Burke, who was born in Midland, Ont., but lived in Squamish, B.C., was a pioneer in the sport of freestyle skiing. A four-time X Games winner in women's halfpipe, Burke posted five wins on the World Cup circuit and won the 2005 world championship at Ruka, Finland.

She lobbied tirelessly for her sport and is credited with having the event added to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

This is just so so sad :( She was such a great athlete and its horrible to hear how she died. RIP.

Batman Begins star Christian Bale was hailed a real-life hero over the Christmas (11) holidays after stepping in to break up a fight between two homeless men in California.

The actor was shopping near his home in Brentwood, Los Angeles when he spotted two vagrants engaged in a heated altercation. The war of words escalated and Bale had to swoop in and intervene.

An eyewitness tells the National Enquirer, "I could not believe what I was seeing. It wasn't clear what the people were arguing about - but it soon became apparent that their conversation was heading toward a violent incident.

"One of the homeless guys cocked back his fist and was just about to strike the other man - but out of nowhere Christian Bale appeared and got in the middle of them! Christian acted like a referee and told the homeless men to take it elsewhere - and away from all the families that were enjoying the peaceful surroundings."

New Image Of Johnny Depp As Barnabas Collins In Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’

French website CineHeroes has premiered this new look at Johnny Depp as vampire Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton’s forthcoming adaptation of the cult TV series ‘Dark Shadows.’ Barnabas Collins was an 18th century gentleman, a businessman just before the Revolutionary War, who was transformed against his will into a vampire and buried in a tomb for two centuries. After he finally emerges, uncovered by construction workers in the year 1972, he seeks out his descendants — as well as some long-ago foes and a possible lost love. ’Dark Shadows’ also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz and Gulliver McGrath.  The film opens in cinemas May 11th – look out for a trailer soon.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.
Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.
Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Ericsus Saadivine performs song that's not as good as "Popular"; slays while doing so

Eric Saade popped up on Swedish TV this week, on the annual Eldsjälsgalan.

He was there to perform current single ‘Hotter Than Fire’ – a performance which featured “DEV”, “and Eric Sa-a-de”, and actual fire. Well – Dev and the fire appeared only via screen, but the main element of the song was all present and correct, Mr Saade himself.

For the occasion he got dolled up in a three piece suit and brought along ten (TEN!) dancers with him. The ensuing performance was thus of epic proportions – even by Saade standards. And you can see it for yourself below.

Oh – of note: we quite enjoy the dance move he’s invented for when Dev sings “I’m flammable”!

Universal, RIAA and Department of Justice Sites Go Down, Anonymous Claims Responsibility

$

After a noteworthy lack of action on during the SOPA blackouts on January 18th, it seems that Anonymous is springing back into action in response to the federal takedown of MegaUpload and the subsequent arrest and likely extradition of Kim Dotcom. Just hours after the news that the U.S. federal government took down MegaUpload alongside an indictment on piracy charges, Universal.com and Justice.gov have gone down, and a prominent Anonymous affiliated Twitter account is claiming responsibility.

Knowing Anonymous, there is probably more to come both in the way of DDOS attacks and threats toward the federal government, SOPA supporters, and other organizations that have spearheaded copyright infringement lawsuits. More as the story develops.

Update: RIAA.org is now down.

Superman: The Man of Steel: First Trailer Attached to TDKR or Rock of Ages?

$

0

This must have slipped me by -- blame the holidays -- but at the end of December it was reported that the first official trailer for the new Superman movie, the Man of Steel, would be released in about six months.

In addition, new official images are said to be released in June as well, with WB beginning their super marketing blitz surrounding the Zack Snyder-directed movie starring Henry Cavill and Amy Adams. While no official announcement has been made regarding the first trailer, with Christopher Nolan onboard as producer for the Man of Steel, could we see the trailer pushed back a month to the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises on July 20th? Could be.

However, the "big" Warner Bros. movie getting released in June is Rock of Ages, which stars Tom Cruise and an all-star cast. The trailer just might be attached to that. Perhaps WB wants to advertise the movie to a different audience, as arguably The Dark Knight Rises shares a similar fan-base, or they want to get a jump ahead on the Summer movie hype, promoting the Man of Steel along side the last few weeks building up to the third and final Batman installment.

The Man of Steel is currently finishing up with filming in California, so some kind of June or July teaser wouldn't be out of the question. Then again, June would mark a full year's release before the debut of the Man of Steel, and that's when WB released the first trailer for The Dark Knight Rises.

Cosmic Book News will keep you updated.

Man Of Steel flies into theaters June 14th, 2013 directed by Zack Snyder starring, Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, Diane Lane as Martha "Ma" Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan "Pa" Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Russel Crowe as Jor-El.

X Factor's Marcus Collins Reveals Album Release Date & Debut Single

$

Marcus Collins has announced on Twitter that his debut album will be released on March 12, 2012. This is the European release date for the album, whose title is to be announced. It is unknown if the album will be released outside of Europe. Collins came in second place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2011. Although it has not been officially announced yet, he has signed a deal with Sony Music.
The announcement about Collins' album is unusual because it comes before any announcement has been made about the debut album for female quartet Little Mix, "The X Factor" U.K. winner of 2011. As an "X Factor" winner, Little Mix automatically signed to Syco Music, the record company co-owned by "The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell and Sony Music.
His debut single is a cover and it's making some people excited, but most people mad. Marcus Collins is channeling his inner rock star for his first official single release in 2012.The diminutive Scouser is set to annoy a legion of indie music fans by covering the classic Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. Many of the 23-year-old's young fans are unlikely to have even heard the original version of the song because it was released almost a decade ago.

So glad & happy for him because he's been working hard, but I can imagine the retaliation by the White Stripes fans.

Facebook app allows users to post after they die

Facebook users have been given the opportunity to post one last message on the site after their death thanks to a new app.

'If I Die', created by Israel-based company Willook, allows individuals to write posts or record videos that can be published posthumously.

Three 'trustees' selected by the customer during their lifeline will have to verify the death before anything is broadcast. Nobody - not even those at the company - will be able to see what has been recorded until then.

The app's website suggests that messages could be "your life story, a secret you haven't shared before or even a will".

CEO Eran Alfonta told NBC that he came up with the idea after some of his friends almost died in a car accident.

"We all have things to say and don't necessarily have the audience with the patience to hear us," he said.

"They stopped aside and drank water and relaxed and started speaking between themselves: 'Oh my God, what would happen to the kids if something happened to me?'"

Deelishis REVEALS Deets About BEING Raped At Age 18, Her Husband Says, "You Led That Man On!"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We told you earlier that reality TV star Deelishis would be appearing in the Detroit-based Motor City Wives. And recently, she's seen in a shocking video where she talks about being raped when she was 18. But here's the kicker....her husband says she led on her rapist! Watch the clip inside and speak on it....

During an interview with S2S editor Jamie Foster Brown, Deelishis revealed details about her past.

As her husband, Orlando Gordon, fried up some chicken, the reality star told a very in-depth story about being raped at 18 by a man whom she had a crush on (she was alone with him at his house).

But as Deelishis told the story, her husband gave his opinion about her putting herself in a situation saying, "You led that man on!"

They then began a discussion about the meaning of "no" with Deelishis saying a woman has the right to say no at any time she wants to stop. And it DOES NOT give a man the right to commit rape if something sexual has already occurred.

VH1's Emmy Award-Winning "Rock Docs" Franchise Revisits The 10-year Times Square Takeover With "The TRL Decade"

VH1 will give viewers a chance to relive all the excitement of the screaming fans, unforgettable moments and music-loving Times Square takeover that was mandatory daily viewing for so many with VH1 Rock Docs Presents: "The TRL Decade," premiering January 29 at 9:30PM ET/PT.

"The TRL Decade" takes a fun and provocative look at the iconic MTV video countdown show, "Total Request Live," which aired for 10 years (1998-2008). Beginning as a programming experiment, TRL became a cultural phenomenon, serving as a catalyst for the pop music explosion of the late 1990's and launching the careers of new artists including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and many others. With a track record of dramatically impacting record sales, TRL soon became the "must" stop on every artist's press tour, routinely shutting down Times Square with visits ranging from Michael Jackson to Jay-Z to *N'SYNC to Korn.

While the fun was plentiful, there were serious moments as well. The Backstreet Boys memorably chose the platform to announce bandmate AJ McLean's decision to enter rehab. In an era pre-dating Twitter and Facebook, TRL also became an important forum for both artists and viewers alike to call-in and be heard after the events of 9/11.

This hour-long special features extensive clips and interviews with creators, fans and artists who appeared on the show, including Good Charlotte, Kid Rock, *N'SYNC, Mandy Moore, Nas, Pete Wentz, Korn, Method Man, Lil Jon and others. Former MTV VJs Carson Daly, Damien Fahey, Hilarie Burton, Vanessa Minnillo and La La Anthony also give in-depth interviews and share uncensored moments from the show.

"The TRL Decade" is the newest installment in the Emmy Award-winning VH1 Rock Doc franchise. VH1 Rock Docs are feature-length documentaries that tell unique stories of artists and music from a wide range of genres, styles and musical perspectives. For more information on VH1 Rock Docs go to RockDocs.VH1.com.

I absolutely loved TRL; I used to watch it religiously when I'd come home from school. I was never a Carson Daly fan, but I loved Dave Holmes and Jesse Camp :)

Watch Steven Tyler Screech His Way Through The National Anthem

$

Butchered celebrity performances of "The Star-Spangled Banner" are as important to American history as the anthem itself, but Steven Tyler gave us something entirely different during today's AFC Championship. His may be the first rendition that screeched while being butchered.

Sure, there are the classic mispronunciations and forgotten lyrics we've all come to expect ("And the rockets' red glare as bombs bursting in air"?), but what's really special about this performance is Tyler's emergency brake of a voice.

Steven definitely deserves an A+ for effort (he was clearly giving 110%), but maybe his singing voice just shouldn't leave the station again anytime soon.
