Possible Random House-Penguin merger in the works

In a move that will certainly worry both industry experts writers themselves, publishers Random House and Penguin are reportedly in talks to merge the companies. The two houses rank among the largest in the world and a deal would solidify its place, particularly in developing digital markets such as China, India and Brazil.

The news, first reported by the Financial Times, indicates that Bertelsmann, Penguin’s parent company, would have a share of over 50%. Pearson, which owns Random House as well as the Financial Times, confirmed the reports in a statement, saying that “The two companies have not reached agreement and there is no certainty that the discussions will lead to a transaction.”

Random House is the world’s leading publisher, with 10,000 books a year, while Penguin publishes 4,000.

According to the New York Times, analysts say that Thomas Rabe, the chief executive of the Germany company Bertelsmann, has been hard-pressed to find new areas of growth since he took leadership a year ago. He failed to obtain the music label EMI, which was instead snapped up earlier this year by the French-owned company Vivendi. Penguin could be the solution needed.

But the book industry is steadily on the decline and has already faced massive layoffs. Some analysts have wondered whether Pearson, which focuses primarily on education materials, would sell off Penguin.

“If they want to sell something non-core than selling Penguin is the obvious choice,” Panmure analyst Alex DeGroote told The Guardian earlier this month.

Still, others guessed that HarperCollins or Simon & Schuster, smaller members of the Big Six companies, would go first, as book publishing is not first on the agenda of their umbrella companies, News Corp and CBS.

At the same time, the Random House and Penguin merger could challenge e-book giants such as Amazon and Apple, which have seriously dented traditional print publishing.

Jourdan Dunn & Liu Wen star in the new Rag & Bone campaign

Rag & Bone's DIY Project is back with a new supermodel cast for Fall 2012, enlisting the help of models Liu Wen and Jourdan Dunn to front their latest fashion collection.

The DIY project flips the traditional photo shoot on its head, ditching the make-up artists, stylists and photographers - just giving each model a digital camera, Rag & Bone jeans and the remit to interpret the brand in their own individual way.

The result, as we can see with Jourdan and Liu, is an intimate and raw collection of photographs that shows off each girl’s personality and perspective of the fashion label.

Rag & Bone’s founder David Neville said, “It's been such a brilliant experience to see how people have responded to the Project. We think it’s cool to show the girls in this light– it’s stripped back and it’s all about personal style and attitude which rag & bone really believes in.”

Previous stars of the brand's innovative campaign include Miranda Kerr, Karolina Kurkova and Lily Aldridge.

Will Bryan Singer Replace Matthew Vaughn On X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2?

$
0
0

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2 is doing the director shuffle!

Deadline reports that Matthew Vaughn, the man who directed FIRST CLASS, is no longer attached to the sequel. That's a bummer, he did so well with the first one. But here's where things get even more surprising: Fox's top choice to replace Vaughn is Bryan Singer. That's right, the man who helmed the original X-MEN and its follow-up X2 might come back home to the rebooted franchise.

You know what they say: if you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it was truly meant to be.

Deadline doesn't say why Vaughn is stepping down but apparently he's not leaving completely, he'll stick around as producer. He's already worked on a treatment for the film so he'll be involved, just not calling the shots. Deadline says he's already setting up another project at Fox: an adaptation of the Mark Millar comic book SECRET SERVICE. So another comic book movie just not this comic book movie.

Singer coming back would be a surprising choice just because he's already been there, done that. Obviously he's a good fit for the series and would make X-MEN fans happy. His first two superhero films, especially X2, are beloved. His take on Superman however? Not as much. I'm sure he'll be welcomed by X-MEN fans with open arms.

If this comes to fruition, Fox will have to work fast to make this happen. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS - DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is scheduled to open July 18, 2014 so things will get moving soon.

Christmas album 2012 buying guide

Nothing says Christmas like a good-old fashioned carol. Although it's probably a little early to put on your favorite Christmas album, it's not too early to think about which ones may help usher in the holiday season.

This year, there's a series of new holiday collections due out throughout October and early November. Rod Stewart, Cee Lo Green and Colbie Caillat are readying their releases. Country stars have jumped on the Christmas music bandwagon this year, too; Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton and Scotty McCreery also have holiday albums coming out in 2012.

Check out the 2012 holiday albums:

Lady Antebellum

Lady Antebellum will release its holiday album, "On This Winter's Night," on Oct. 22. The 12-track set features renditions of "Silver Bells," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "The First Noel" and "Silent Night," among other classics.

Lady Antebellum recorded the material over the summer in Nashville. And because it's hard to get into the holiday spirit in the middle of July, the trio outfitted the studio with lights, fake trees and other decorations.

"You'd leave the studio, and it'd be 100 degrees out in Nashville, but nonetheless, a great experience," Dave Haywood told The Boot.

Colbie Caillat

Colbie Caillat got into the holiday spirit with the help of some of her musician pals. Both Gavin DeGraw and Brad Paisley make guest appearances on her album, "Christmas in the Sand," due out Oct. 23. Paisley duets on "Merry Christmas Baby," and DeGraw appears on "Baby, It's Cold Outside."

Caillait's new collection will feature 10 holiday classics, along with five original songs.

The California native also recorded her over the summer.

"A lot of the songs I wrote for it are about how not every (winter) holiday I spent has been only in the snow," Caillat told Billboard. "It's also been in the sun and at the beach and a different kind of lifestyle (that) not everyone has. I wanted to tap into that. It's fun to write a Christmas song from that perspective."

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta

"Grease" stars Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta have joined forces for a holiday collection dubbed "This Christmas," due out Nov. 13.

Reuniting for the first time in years, the stars take on 13 tracks, including "Silent Night" and "White Christmas." Barbra Streisand, James Taylor and Kenny G are among the stars appearing on the collection.

"My desire was to make This Christmas an intimate album, not something too ostentatious or showy," Travolta said. "I wanted people to be able to play it around the house or in the car during the holidays, and make us part of your celebration.

"We all felt a wonderful, joyful energy while recording this album," Newton-John added. "We want to make a lot of people smile and happy.

Cee Lo Green

Cee Lo Green is getting into the holiday spirit this year as well. "The Voice" coach will release his holiday-themed album, "Magic Moment," on Oct. 30. Fellow "Voice" coach Christina Aguilera duets on "Baby, It's Cold Outside," and there are guest appearances by Rod Stewart, The Muppets and Straight No Chaser.

Green told Billboard his album is a "soulful take on a host of Christmas classics." Some of those classics include "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Song."

Scotty McCreery

Scotty McCreery will release his new album, "Christmas with Scotty McCreery," featuring 10 holiday songs, including two originals. He also recorded the standards "First Noel," "Winter Wonderland" and "Let It Snow."

"Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year," the "American Idol" alum said in a statement. "And what is Christmas without music? We start listening to Christmas songs early in the McCreery household, so it felt right. I've always wanted to record a Christmas album since I've had my music career."

Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton is celebrating the holiday season early this year. He already released his album, "Cheers, It's Christmas," on Oct. 2.

The album features duets with Michael Buble and Reba McEntire, as well as one with his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. Shelton recorded many of the songs with full orchestral accompaniment.

Rod Stewart

Rod Stewart will release his first-ever holiday album, "Merry Christmas, Baby," on Oct. 30. The duet-heavy set features a slew of guest stars.

Michael Buble sings on "Winter Wonderland"; Mary J. Blige appears on "We Three Kings"; "Merry Christmas, Baby" is a duet with Cee-Lo Green; "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" features Dave Koz on saxophone; and "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" is a "virtual" duet with Ella Fitzgerald, featuring Chris Botti.

"I have always been tempted to do a Christmas album," Stewart said in a statement. "And now that I once again have young children, the timing couldn't be better."

"I wanted my Christmas record to be a classic-sounding album, bigger than any genre," Shelton said in a statement. "The recording process definitely took me out of my element and pushed me to really work through a lot of ideas."

Compilations

It was 25 years ago this year that the world was introduced to the first-ever "A Very Special Christmas" compilation. The original album, released in 1987, featured U2's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" and Bruce Springsteen's "Merry Christmas Baby."

Now to honor the anniversary, there will be two new albums coming out on Oct. 16: "A Very Special Christmas, Bringing Peace on Earth" and "A Very Special Christmas 25th Anniversary, Bringing Joy to the World."

Dave Matthews, Christina Aguilera, Michael Buble, Jason Mraz, Train and OneRepublic are among the artists appearing on the "Bring Joy to the World" compilation, and a series of Christian acts, including "American Idol" alum Jason Castro, have recorded tracks for the "Bringing Peace on Earth" collection.

Proceeds from the sets go towards the Special Olympics. So far, the Christmas compilation effort has raised more than $100 million for the cause.

Tell us: Which Christmas collection are you looking forward to checking out?

Your Guide to the Indistinguishable Men of Nashville

$
0
0

Nashville has plenty going for it: The music is legitimately good; Connie Britton is the world's best human; and even though the dialogue is a little clunky, the stories seem to work. Britton plays Rayna, a country-music legend whose star is fading, thanks in part to the rising fame of Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere), who's trying to woo away Rayna's bandleader, Deacon. But the show does have one lingering problem: The male characters are extremely hard to tell apart. Everyone is too generically handsome and southern! Vulture assembled this handy guide to which male character is which on Nashville.

Is he wearing a tie? Then that's Rayna's husband, Teddy (Eric Close). Teddy is the worst. He's squandered most of his family's money, and now he's tired of being in Rayna's shadow — even though it's pretty clear from these three episodes that every single person in Rayna's life is in her shadow.

Is he sad? Could be any of them.

Is he playing a guitar? Could be anyone.

Does he have scraggly facial hair? Inconclusive.

Is he being sexy around both Rayna and Juliette and/or sadly smirking? That's Deacon (Charles Esten). He's Rayna's bandleader and ex-lover, whom she ditched when she sent him to rehab a decade ago. While he was there, she married Teddy. Deacon still loves her, it seems, and if smoldering glances mean anything (and they do!), Rayna still loves him back. Tough tacos, then, that he's also sleeping with Juliette, and he might be the father of one of Rayna's daughters.

Is he making a bitchface? Then that's Avery (Jonathan Jackson), Scarlett's boyfriend. Scarlett is the young blonde who's not Juliette — and is instead some kind of second coming of country-music greatness. And Avery is hella jealous of her imminent success and her maybe-flirtatious relationship with her duet partner, Gunnar. Luckily, he managed to give her a good pep talk on last night's episode, otherwise we'd have to just straight-up hate him. Stop being so whiny, Avery.

Is he wearing a shirt that has snaps instead of buttons? Inconclusive.

Is he sighing dejectedly? Inconclusive.

Does he feel stymied? Inconclusive.

Is he the other guy? That's Gunnar (Sam Palladio). He and Scarlett represent artistic integrity and talent and adorableness.

It's not just the younger guys who all blend together, though. The older guys blend together, too.

Is he Powers Boothe? That's Lamar Wyatt, and he's Rayna's controlling father.

Is he being nice? That's Watty White (JD Souther), and he's Rayna's producer and the king-maker who just discovered Scarlett and Gunnar.

Is he talking to Juliette? Then that's Glenn (Ed Amatrudo), Juliette's manager, who's too inept to figure out a way to get Juliette's mom out of her hair.

Taylor Swift hasn't pulled the plug on her deal to buy a mansion next to the Kennedy compound in Massachusetts ... yet ... despite rumors she split from her Kennedy family boyfriend -- TMZ has learned.

A source connected with the real estate transaction tells us, the deal for the $4.5 million Hyannis Port home is still going full steam ahead ... and is currently scheduled to close in two weeks.

As we reported, Taylor plunked down the cash for the home -- located across the street from Ethel Kennedy -- in order to be closer to her 18-year-old boyfriend Conor Kennedy.

Reports are now circulating the couple has called it quits -- but so far, that hasn't changed Taylor's real estate plans.

Apple planning an online radio service rivaling Pandora & Spotify

Apple is gearing up to launch an ad-supported Internet radio service by early 2013, assuming negotiations with content providers go well, according to a new report.

Negotiations between Apple and music labels "have intensified," according to a report published on Thursday by Bloomberg. Those talks have allegedly focused on how the companies will share ad revenue, while a deal is expected to be reached by mid-November, according to unnamed sources.

However, a deal is not yet finalized between Apple and the record labels. Just last month, it was said that talks with Sony/ATV, the world's largest music publisher, had stalled.

Thursday's latest report claimed that executives from Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group Corp, and Sony Corp. all visited Apple's headquarters in recent weeks to learn about the company's Internet radio plans. Apple's Pandora competitor will reportedly allow users with iTunes accounts to "buy tracks as music streams or revisit what they've heard in auto-generated playlists."

Earlier reports had claimed that Apple's offering would differ from Pandora by including an element of promotion based on what songs the music labels are promoting in any given month. Pandora serves songs to users based on its own algorithms.

One of the homeless men who appeared in a video reportedly featured at Justin Timberlake's wedding says he was paid $40 ... and had NO IDEA he was the punchline in a sick joke.

TMZ spoke with the man -- "Eddie" -- who tells us he was just minding his own business in Hollywood when he was approached by a man who offered him money in exchange for saying a few pre-written lines into the camera.

Eddie says the cameraman told him the video was being made for a friend's wedding -- Eddie had no idea it was for Timberlake and Jessica Biel.

When we told him how the footage was used, Eddie told us, "That makes me feel really bad ... that was a trick played on me."

In case you're wondering why Eddie is dressed so nicely in our video -- it's because he was out looking for a job yesterday.

Rihanna's BFF Melissa Forde makes racist jibe against Karrueche Tran

$

Rihanna's best friend Melissa Forde has landed in hot water after making a racist slur against Chris Brown's ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

Melissa Forde defended her superstar pal from fans of Chris Brown's ex - who is of Vietnamese origin on Twitter.

But she has reignited the war of words between the two camps after using the term 'rice cake' to describe Karreuche, who is of Vietnamese origin.

Forde was telling a fan of Tran that it was okay not to like Rihanna but that she shouldn't insult her best friend before it all got a little too heated.
In the Instagram rant, she wrote: 'I get that you don’t like my Bfff and trust you don’t have to cause the one thing you not liking us will do is stop anything from moving forward!!
'You can be rice cake’s friend I don’t give a f***,
but keep up all this disrespectful talk and while your fake profile having azz is typing on instagram MEE Melissa T Forde will be the one knocking on your door asking you to come talk face to face!'

She had also earlier tweeted: 'Every single one of y’all b*tchez are soo f*****g dumb and obviously have nothing better to do. But lets be VERYYY clear about one thing, nobody gives a rats a** about whatever the f*** her name is… so be careful how you talk about my BFFF!! A n***a will always do what [HE] wants!!'

Possibly sensing trouble, Rihanna tweeted to her friend: 'Melissa T Fooooorde! Stop it!!!'
Forde has been friends with Rihanna for years, and has reportedly known her since childhood.

It comes after the same term fuelled a huge Twitter war of words between Rihanna and Karreuche earlier this year.

The tension is said to have kicked off when Rihanna posted a photograph of a bag of rice cakes wearing sunglasses with gold earrings, and the caption, 'Ima a make u my b****.'
This was widely perceived as a jibe at Tran, who was dating Brown at the time.

And Rihanna's remixed song Birthday Cake, featured sexually explicit lyrics: 'Remember how you did it?, Remember how you fit it?, If you still wanna kiss it, Come, come, come and get it, Sweeter than a rice cake, cake worth sipping.'

Rihanna is reportedly dating Chris Brown again - just weeks after the rapper finished his relationship with Tran.

And it seems Chris is not very happy with the situation.

He posted a sulky picture of himself, and tweeted: 'Feeling like s**t today!'

Queen Octavia: "Not voting for the President is a vote for Mitt Romney, make no mistake."

$

This weekend, Octavia Spencer joined the Democratic National Committee and Obama for America’s "Gotta Vote" Bus Tour in North Carolina to talk about voter registration and encourage citizens to take advantage of early voting. ESSENCE.com caught up with the Oscar-winning actress on the campaign trail to discuss why she decided to get involved, the importance of early voting and how she will be casting her vote this year.

ESSENCE.com: You are currently on the road with the DNC's "Gotta Vote" bus tour. Now this isn't something that you have to do, so tell us why you decided to get involved?

OCTAVIA SPENCER: Well this election is too close for comfort and it shouldn't be. I just imagined what it was like back in the 1960s when African Americans were organizing to get that right. I think people are a little complacent and haven't really understood why it is important that they vote. I realized that I had to do more than just cast my vote. I needed to be active and proactive in helping President Obama get elected.

ESSENCE.com: Before President Obama was elected, I read that you doubted if America was ready for its first Black President. Now that he is running for his second term, what does this election and campaign season mean to you?

SPENCER: It's not that I didn't think that the President could be president, I just didn't think he would be. But, I am glad that I was proven wrong. I supported him then and I definitely support him now. But it's more than about just casting a vote at this point because the opponents basically have a lot more money and they are funded by people who have a bigger interest in keeping all of their coins. The common people have to rally behind the President. He needs all the support he can get, and for me that extends beyond just casting my vote. And it should extend beyond that for other people. I think for me if somehow being involved in this campaign as vocally as I am will ignite someone else's passion to get involved then I am thrilled that that has occurred, but that is the ultimate goal.

ESSENCE.com: What has been the most rewarding part of the bus tour? Have there been any memorable moments?

Spencer: I flew in last night to be a part of it. We are making four stops. It just reminds me of the things that I studied in history. What it was like, perhaps, to be a part of something like this. We just left Ebenezer Baptist Church and it was exciting because for me I felt like I was revisiting history. And being a part of it is making history as well. As far as memorable moments, I just think being there and being a part of it is memories in itself.
ESSENCE.com: How will you be casting your vote this year? Are you participating in early voting or going to the polls on Election Day?

Spencer: I am going to the polls in LA and then I will be going to Nevada on behalf of the campaign.

ESSENCE.com: Is there a reason in particular you decided to participate in the North Carolina state tour?

Spencer: Well you go where you are needed and I let the campaign dictate where they needed the most help and I am doing North Carolina. I came here first on 60 days out and I am back today. I will be going to Florida on the second or third and then Nevada on Election Day.

ESSENCE.com: What is the importance of early voting?

Spencer: I just want to reiterate how important this election is and North Carolina is one of the few states that offers early voting and early voting is what helps take the President over the top. I am excited that I am here and I definitely want people to take advantage of voting as early as today. If they are intending to support the President they need to vote because life happens. And come November 6, everybody wants to know that they have done their civic duty and that their voice is being heard. Because not voting for the President is a vote for Mitt Romney, make no mistake.

harry-styles-tells-key103-that-Liam-payne-ill-after-kissing-too-many-girls

You might think that Liam Payne would be too busy making eyes at the spoons in the cutlery drawer to give his love life much of a thought, but according to One Direction bandmate Harry Styles, he's been off kissing all sorts of ladies.

Before you explode in excitement, you don't need to worry as he hasn't been off locking lips with Leona Lewis or anything like that.
In fact it's all a bit of a joke that came about after Liam missed an interview with the rest of the lads at Manchester radio station Key 103 due to a mysterious lurgy.
"He's been kissing too many girls," Harry joked. We repeat JOKED.
It's alright though as apparently the rest of the lads have been playing nurse - or at least they would have been if Liam hadn't been chucked straight into quarantine.

We have to say that we're pretty glad he hasn't been off kissing lots of girls, but what do you think about all this?

Lindsay Lohan's Publicist Steve Honig Quits Amid Endless String of LiLo Debacles

Even loyal supporters have their breaking point.

And Lindsay Lohan's besieged publicist, apparently, has finally reached his.

Steve Honig, who's steered his beleaguered client through one scandal after another after another, has quit as LiLo's trusty flack, E! News has exclusively learned.

"He's resigned as Lindsay's publicist Wednesday night," a source tells E! News exclusively.

Honig, however, declined to elaborate on why he's decided throw in the towel, telling E! News, "I'm not discussing this out of respect for my client."

No doubt the publicist, who's been employed by LiLo for about a year and a half, has had his work cut out for him. During his time under LiLo's dime, he's racked up enough crisis-management victories to fill up a bushel's worth of resumes.

Let us try to count the ways, shall we? (Bear with us if we miss something here.)

Under Honig's watch, the star passed out in a hotel room, landed in the hospital after a frightening car crash, allegedly trashed her trailer, got tangled up in a jewelry heist, was reportedly banned from a hotel for unpaid bills, got arrested for an alleged hit-and-run, was embroiled in a 911-worthy spat with mom Dina Lohan, unleashed a war of words with pop Michael Lohan and, most recently, was faced with a failed intervention attempt by Michael, supposedly with the support of her handlers.

Good luck to LiLo's next flack.

Uncle Poodle Reveals Scary Past Abuse, Family Starts Clothing Line Benefiting Anti-Bullying Charity

If Honey Boo Boo Child has taught us anything on her hit TLC reality show - other than her unshakeable love of sketti - it's been self-esteem. The chubby seven-year-old beauty queen is famous for her fearless sassified lifestyle. Now the Shannon-Thompson clan wants to spread her gospel of self-love through a clothing line, and it's all for a cause close to the family's heart. No, the proceeds do not benefit pork rind research.

The first officially licensed merchandise of the family, the "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" branded clothing is a line of t-shirts for The Brand UR in support of their anti-bullying campaign. The family says they support the charity not just because they agree with the message on principal, but because Alana's Uncle Poodle, real name Lee Thompson, was vehemently bullied growing up for being openly gay in the south.

In an effort to empower gay youth, Uncle Poodle spoke in a video for Spirit Day, discussing the hardships of growing up gay in the South. Wearing a purple t-shirt for the occasion to voice his support for anti-bullying and LGBT youngsters, he said in a video message, "I was bullied day in and day out."

Lee Thompson revealed in the video that he suffered numerous beatings at the hands of bullies because of his sexuality while he was growing up, breaking his ribs and dislocating his jaw many times through the years. Thompson admits he's also had his car vandalized, something that he still has to endure today. "But I have a family that stands by me, supports me," he said. "I'm wearing purple today to let every youngster and every teen know it is okay to be who you are. Don't let nobody change that."

Alana Thompson started calling Lee "Uncle Poodle" after she heard her pageant coach used the term to refer to her gay friends. "Alana thought she was really talking about dogs. She wanted to know how many poodles she had, and what were their names. And I said, 'No, Alana, she's talking about gay people.' Well, that did it. All gay people are poodles to her now, and I'm her number one poodle," he told Georgia Voice.

"We've always supported gay people, even long before the show started," Mama June told E! News. "We didn't just do it because we have the show. Some people are kind of scared - what you'd call homophobes - but everyone knew Sugar Bear had a gay brother. It's not a big deal."

Fans can now have a bit of Honey Boo Boo in a wide variety of sizes and five different designed t-shirts. All the proceeds from each purchase go to The Brand UR anti-bullying scholarship. With slogans like "A Dollar Make Me Hollur," "You Better RedNeckognize," and "UR Poodle and Proud of It" the shirts cetainly look empowering. So far the Thompson/ Shannon family has raised $3,431 toward a scholarship for one lucky person.

With TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Child" already renewed for a second season, we're betting the shirts will make an appearance on upcoming episodes.

Since premiering in August, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," which follows the life of former "Toddles & Tiaras" star Alana Thompson and her family -- mother "Mama," 33, father Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, 40, and sisters Anna "Chickadee" Shannon, 17, Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon, 15, and Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon, 12 - has become a nationwide sensation with more than 2.1 million viewers tuning into its Sept. 13 episode. The show even topped all individual cable and network broadcasts of the Republican National Convention on Aug. 19 with a 1.3 rating with adults 18-49.

"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Child" has become such a hit for TLC the network ordered more "HOLLA-day" episodes, a second season, and tripled the families salary. After reportedly only earning between $5,000 and $7,000 per episode for their series, the Honey Boo Boo Child family will now reportedly pull in between $15,000 and $20,000 an episode.

The "HOLLA-day" episodes documenting Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas with the family will begin airing in January. Season two of the series will also begin filming in Jan. 2013.

As always, I recommend using your own email address and not OMM's prewritten-but-erasable email; companies are now starting to block OMM's email address.

Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy have called it quits, and a source close to the couple exclusively tells RadarOnline.com it's because the country star came on way too serious, way too fast.

"Conor's just an 18-year-old kid and wasn't ready for anything super serious, but Taylor is looking for her soulmate and it kind of freaked him out with how strong she came on," the insider revealed.

"Taylor is obsessed with the Kennedys and was living out a fairytale with Conor. But she was more obsessed with the idea of dating a Kennedy, than the actual Kennedy she was dating."

According to the source, Taylor is love crazy but lacks appropriate social and dating skills.

"Taylor is love crazy and loves living vicariously through other people's love stories. She sincerely wants to find the person that she is supposed to spend the rest of her life with," the source told RadarOnline.com.

"But unfortunately, she thinks every man that gives her butterflies is that person."

Taylor, 22, and Conor, 18, started dating in July and it was RadarOnline.com who snagged the first exclusive photos of the couple, but less than three months later it's over.

The silver lining? More heartbreaking inspiration for Taylor write a song about!

Tina Fey Blasts ‘Gray-Faced’ Men Defining Rape

Tina Fey has had it with “gray-faced” men trying to tell her the definition of rape.

At last night’s Center for Reproductive Rights Inaugural Gala at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the “30 Rock” comic gave a speech blasting some of the recent comments about rape from politicians that have been making headlines. Fey focused on Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin, who remarked in an interview in August that he believed a woman’s body has a way of avoiding getting pregnant in “legitimate rape.”

(More recently, Republican Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock set off a political firestorm when he suggested that if a woman becomes pregnant after a rape “it is something God intended to happen.“)

“I wish we could have an honest and respectful dialogue about these complicated issues,” Fey said. “But it seems like we can’t right now. And if I have to listen to one more gray-faced man with a two-dollar haircut explain to me what rape is, I’m gonna lose my mind.”

“I watch these guys and I’m like what is happening? Am I a secretary on ‘Mad Men’?” Fey joked.

Fey then tried to summarize Akin’s views on pregnancy and rape, concluding “It’s making me dumber when I say it. But it’s something about the body not being able to get pregnant when it’s under physical stress. Mr. Akin I think you are confusing the phrase ‘legitimate rape’ with the phrase ‘competitive gymnastics.’”

Last night in London, Scissor Sisters announced that the band is going on an indefinite hiatus.

The New York band performed their second of two nights at the North London venue, playing an extended set as a thank you to fans - announcing their separation towards the end of the show. Frontman Jake Shears told the audience "This will be the last time we will play in London for quite some time," after Ana Matronic thanked London fans, saying the UK audience was "The ones who got us first - and always get us best." Following the show, band members confirmed to Gigwise that there were currently no plans for the band to return to the studio to record a follow up to their 2012 album, Magic Hour. Guitarist Del Marquis reveals he has solo work in the pipeline and Ana Matronic is close to completing work on a comic book project. The flamboyant singer reassured fans that this was not the end of Scissor Sisters, telling Gigwise "Don't you worry - this isn't the last you've heard of us," at the official after party, held at Camden's Lock Tavern.

Scissor Sisters formed in 2001. Since then they've released four albums, scoring three #1 US dance chart singles and landing ten tracks in the British Top 20.  I Don't Feel Like Dancin', their monster hit from 2006, reached #1 in more than a dozen countries.

UDPATE: Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears is telling fans on Twitter that this is not a permanent breakup. "It's just a break!"
