Orange is the New Black actress recently sat down with the
NY Post to talk about the assault charges that she faced back in August.
In case you need a refresher the cat enthusiast was accused with punching, scratching and pulling the hair of her 17-year-old neighbor. Polanco now claims that over the past eight months she has been extorted by the teenager.Polanco claims that she did not know the teenager, who was the cousin of a person who used to do random odd jobs and errands for her, until she showed up at her door looking for Polanco's ex fiancee. According to the rumor mill the 17 year old was involved with her ex fiancee which is why he is now an ex but neither party agreed to comment on the claim.
While Polanco still claims the assault did not happen she took her lawyer's advise and checked in with the local precinct where the charge was made. "They took my fingerprints," she explained.
"I wanted to die. Cops were asking me to take [selfies] with them."
It was after that when things took a strange turn. Polanco claims that the teenager requested six times that Polanco send her several thousand dollars in exchange for her dropping the charges in calls that the actress had a friend record for evidence. She claims the teen told her she wanted $6,000 because, "I wanna get ass and titties."Polanco then ditched her first lawyer and got a new one.
She claims the whole thing was very stressful as she was trying to promote Joy and felt like she had to apologize to director David O. Russell for everything that was going on. Russell allegedly told Polanco, "I know who you are, and I’m your friend. Everything else doesn’t matter."She claims the charges also caused her to lose deals with "lucrative national fashion campaigns" (... really?) because they were afraid to work with her publicly and that it led her to feeling depressed.
Things are now looking up though because two weeks ago the district attorney for Manhattan agreed to drop the charges as long as the actress was not arrested over the next since months since the teenager only had superficial bruising.Source 1 and
