U.S. wrestler Elena Pirozhkova picked up Michelle Obama

0
0

Michelle Obama's visit with members of Team USA left them inspired, but one wrestler gave her a lift -- literally. Elena Pirozhkova, the 5-foot-5 wrestler, picked up the 5-foot-11 first lady. Fellow wrestler Clarissa Chun caught the moment in a blurry, yet amazing, photo.

To avoid the wrath of the Secret Service, Pirozhkova asked Obama for her permission.

"I hugged her, and then I asked her if I could pick her up. I think she was nervous. I went slow. I just picked her up. I wanted to ask her permission. There was security all around. And she gave it. I will only meet her once. I wanted to do something different.''

OK, regardless of your political leanings, how awesome is Mrs. Obama? She talked about how she was inspired by the team, and then felt comfortable enough with it to grant an Olympian her offbeat request.

Pirozhkova won a silver at the world championships in 2010. Perhaps her encounter with Mrs. O will lift her to the gold in London.

Lady Gaga is addicted to the internet (roundup)

0

Well you hardly wear anything anyway! Lady Gaga tweets 'naked' picture of herself reclining on an armchair

She recently caused a stir when she unveiled her new perfume ad, starring herself, naked, with only 'tiny men' crawling over her to protect her modesty.

But it appears Lady Gaga hasn't tired of baring flesh for her fans.

The 26-year-old tweeted a snap of herself apparently fully naked, sitting in an armchair, hugging her legs to her chest.

Despite her penchant for stepping out in little more than underwear (embellished with a variety of eye-catching accessories, naturally), this is potentially the most skin Gaga has ever shown in public.

At the risk of looking too closely, Gaga appears to be wearing a deceptively flesh-coloured thong.

She's been posting a lot to littlemonsters.com:

Speaking of littlemonsters.com, she's throwing several contests for her fans on it. Watch this video in which she in no way appears to have just smoked weed.

Details from the chat:

“Really just did my lips cuz I was bored and it goes away not permanent”
“I smoke more pot than drink alcohol…”
Gaga talked about safe sex
Jo Calderone will make a comeback
Gaga thinks gay marriage is important to equality

To be released next year, before spring
Her next single is coming very soon! “You’re definition of soon, not mine”
Gaga said she will be post some new music on the site! “Not necessarily from my next album.”
Gaga confirmed she’s been working with Kendrick Lamar on the album.
Nicki Minaj won’t be on her next album.
“I’m making a small film for every song the album”
“I dunno # of songs yet”
“the new album is about possibilities”
“its the swan song… the title track (swan song isn’t a title it’s an expression)

“Terry Richardson and I are working on a film”
“of the tour and creative process, my life and making the album”
Will be in theaters
Role in “Machete Kills”
Gaga’s role in “Machete Kills” is a small role she feels is perfect for her to sink her teeth into.
Gaga hopes to attend premieres of the movie.
The movie is not in 3D and is Rated R and Weird.
About the Born This Way Ball:

Lady Gaga confirmed Terry Richardson is working on the Born This Way Ball film!

“I’m in love with Taylor. He treats me like a queen, and he’s so successful on his own.”
“I’m in love!”
Gaga said Taylor loves to sit next to her and laugh while she’s on LittleMonsters.com
About Tara Savelo:
“Tara and I are NOT lovers hahah”
“I mean she’s fucking crazy, thats why I love her”

About Madonna:

Lady Gaga Tapping Whitesnake Guitarist For New Album?
The Mother Monster is rumored to have hit the studio with Doug Aldrich in L.A.

Lady Gaga may be embracing her love of rock again on her next album. According to rumors, the singer hit the studio with Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich.

Fansite Propagaga was the first to share the news about the rumored musical collaboration, which is said to have taken place in the City of Angels. "Whitesnake guitarist, Doug Aldrich, was recording with Gaga today in L.A.," the site tweeted. "@DJWS [DJ White Shadow] is rumored to have been in studio, as well."

A rep for the singer did not respond to MTV News' request for comment by press time, but the Mother Monster suggested on her own Twitter page earlier this month that she would be working with pal White Shadow on her next album.

This is hardly Gaga's first dalliance with the rock genre. She worked with Queen's Brian May on her last album, Born This Way, on the track "Yoü and I," which was produced by the equally legendary Mutt Lange. She also worked with the late Clarence Clemons, who played saxophone on "Edge of Glory," further proving her love for rock and roll. That track was produced by White Shadow, along with Fernando Garibay.

Slowly but surely tracks are coming together for Gaga's new release, her follow-up to 2011's Born This Way. She recently teased fans with a new song, blasting it out of her car while in New York City. She even implied that the dance track would be the first single. She previously tweeted that DJ White Shadow was the producer behind the lead single off the release.

Gaga has also been playing her new piano-heavy song "Princess Die" while on tour. During one stop, she opened up a bit about her next album, whose title she will announce in September. "Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity," she said.

"And I feel that on the next album there's a lack of maturity — it's a tremendous lack of maturity or sense of responsibility."

Carly Rae Jepsen better watch out for Little Monsters.

Justin Bieber's 26-year-old protégé, best known for her catchy hit "Call Me Maybe," has officially broken Lady Gaga's Billboard Hot 100 Record.

Jepsen's infectious hit is currently in its seventh week at No. 1 on the charts. This means "Call Me Maybe" has surpassed Gaga's 2011 hit, "Born This Way," which topped the singles charts for six weeks.

Gaga, also 26, took to Twitter to (jokingly) warn Jepsen. "@carlyraejepson (sic) I SEE you just swooped in and broke my BORN THIS WAY record of the most weeks at #1.," she wrote. "DONT GET COMFORTABLE IM COMING FOR YOU"

Roseanne apologizes for CFA tweets + CFA's head of PR dies of heart attack

0
0

Roseanne Barr, failed Green Party presidential candidate and comedian, kind of apologized for her tweets on Wednesday attacking Chick Fil- A. Barr, who vocally opposes the stand against same-sex marriage taken by Chick-fil-A’s president, Dan Cathy, initially tweeted, “anyone who eats S*** Fil-A deserves to get the cancer that is sure to come from eating antibiotic filled tortured chickens 4Christ.”

Later, Barr tweeting again “off to grab a s*** fil-A sandwich on my way to worshipping Christ, supporting Aipac and war in Iran.”

After receiving backlash regarding her insensitivity to cancer, Barr followed up with a series of tweets saying, “Rereading my tweet I realize that I used the wrong word-I shouldn’t have used the word deserves.”

“I shouldn’t have used the word deserved in my tweet and I apologize… what I meant was not that ppl deserve cancer-at all. I meant to warm ppl not 2 eat processed food.”
She continued tweeting, saying, “I should have been more careful with my choice of words.’

Barr’s “apology” was short-lived and directed only at the cancer comment- not her stance on Chick Fil-A’s announcement. She continues to tweet rants against the fast food chain tweeting, “homophobes R actually helping to bring glbt rights to the fore-minds R changing quickly-#equality = #decency Thank U Mr. Cathy!”

Sad news from Chick-fil-A.

Donald Perry, Chick-fil-A's vice president of corporation public relations, has died of a heart attack, according to WRBL News 3 in Columbus, Georgia.

He was a long-time employee of Chick-fil-A, and has often been a spokesperson for the company.

Here's the statement from Chick-fil-A:

"We are saddened to report the news to you that our dear friend Don Perry, vice president of public relations, passed away suddenly this morning.

"Don was a member of our Chick-fil-A family for nearly 29 years. For many of you in the media, he was the spokesperson for Chick-fil-A. He was a well-respected and well-liked media executive in the Atlanta and University of Georgia communities, and we will all miss him.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Source 1 and 2

I know the head of their PR team is obviously not a celebrity but I thought this was interesting considering how much they have been scrambling for good publicity this week (even going as far to create a fake teenager on Facebook to back up their policies and spit out Bible verses). Then there was the bonus addition of Roseanne's Twitter so I figured why not.

The Best Easter Eggs From The Dark Knight Trilogy

0
0

One of the greatest things about Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy is that it’s clear that the director is a real Batman fan. Over the course of his three films, Nolan paid tribute to some of the greatest Caped Crusader stories ever written, including Alan Moore’s “The Killing Joke,” Frank Miller’s “Batman: Year One,” Joseph Loeb and Tim Sale’s “The Long Halloween” and, most recently, Doug Moench and Chuck Dixon’s “Knightfall.” But for obvious reasons the filmmaker wasn’t able to stick the entirety of the Batman universe into the series, so he did the next best thing: he littered his movies with easter eggs.

Below I have plucked out seven of my favorite bonuses that Nolan left for fans in his movies, including hints about characters like Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Victor Zsasz and more. Check out my detailed descriptions below – which come with how the hints connect to the comic book world – and then join us in the comments afterward to talk about more great treats from The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Victor Zsasz
Zsasz is one of Batman’s most horrifying villains. The man is a dangerous serial killer who is best known for carving a tally mark into his skin whenever he takes another victim. While we never actually get to see Zsasz in action – which is probably a good thing – he is still very much part of The Dark Knight Trilogy. In Nolan’s Batman Begins, we first see the murderer as he is sentenced to a term in Arkham Asylum, as he was working as one of Carmine Falcone’s thugs, but that’s not the last we see of him. When Ra’s al Ghul frees all of the prisoners from Arkham later in the film, Zsasz can be seen exiting his cell and turning his head down the hallway to see if anyone is going to stop him from escaping. While the character is never named, if you look closely at the prisoner’s neck in the latter scene you can clearly see tally marks on his neck, indicating that he’s killed at least 15 people. Creepy.

Two-Face
Towards the end of Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne has found himself in a very desperate situation. He has learned that not only is Ra’s al Ghul still alive, but that the League of Shadows leader has made his way to Gotham with the intention of tearing the city apart – but first thing’s first, he needs to get all of the people out of Wayne Manor. And the best way to do that? By giving an insulting, drunken speech, of course! First accusing all of the socialites in the room of coming with the intention of drinking all of the host’s booze, Bruce uses a very particular insult towards the crowd, calling them all “two-faced friends.” This, of course, would eventually be seen as a hint by Nolan that he would be using the legendary Harvey Dent as a villain in the sequel.

But that’s not the only fun easter egg in Nolan’s trilogy about Two-Face. In an early scene in The Dark Knight, Harvey Dent is questioning a witness about the crimes of Sal Maroni and suddenly finds himself staring down the barrel of a gun that, fortunately, misfires. This was Nolan’s fun little way of playing with Two-Face’s origin story from the comics, where Dent was horribly scarred when Maroni, while sitting on the bench, threw a bottle of acid into the district attorney’s face. The director would give the villain a new origin later in the movie, but this was a nice little gift for the long-time readers

Catwoman
Much like the Two-Face easter egg in Batman Begins, the Catwoman easter egg in The Dark Knight was interpreted by fans as being an indication that the character would turn up in the sequel, and boy were they right. The hidden gem comes when Bruce Wayne is meeting up with Lucius Fox for the first time in the sequel and asks about what improvements can be made to the suit following a vicious dog attack. While the armored suit may not stand up against Rottweilers, Fox tells him that he can be sure that it, “Should do fine against cats.” As many predicted, this did end up being foreshadowing for the finale of the trilogy, as Selina Kyle would arrive in Gotham for the battle against Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

Mr. Freeze
It would have been really hard for Christopher Nolan to place a villain like Mr. Freeze into his Dark Knight Rises trilogy. The director worked hard to established a certain level of reality to his superhero films, making the audience feel like some of the events in the movies could actually happen, so the idea of having a villain who uses a freeze gun was seen as being a bit too much. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t willing to give Batman fans a little hint of the character. In The Dark Knight Rises, Bruce Wayne finally leaves Wayne Manor after locking himself away like Howard Hughes and goes down to visit Lucius Fox at Wayne Enterprises, a visit that inspires Fox to say something along the lines of, “So you've come out of your cryo-sleep.” This could very well be a hint at the cold loving Victor Fries, who puts his wife in cryo-sleep in the comics so that he can have more time to figure out the cure to the disease that’s killing her.

Killer Croc
At the beginning of The Dark Knight Rises, bad things are afoot in the sewer system of Gotham. After trying to find those responsible for the abduction of a congressional representative, Commissioner Gordon finds himself trapped below the streets of Gotham and face-to-face with the supervillain known as Bane. While he manages to escape with his life – and a few new bullet holes – unfortunately people aren’t too quick to believe his story about the forthcoming danger. When John Blake attempts to start an investigation based on what Gordon saw in the tunnels, he is scoffed at and asked if knew anything about giant alligators in the sewer system as well. If you heard people chuckling at this line in the theater, it’s because it may be a reference to Killer Croc, Batman’s humungous, reptile-like villain who likes to spend time in Gotham’s sewers. Perhaps Bane took a page out of his book?

Clayface
What’s interesting about Nolan’s reference to Clayface in The Dark Knight Rises is that it actually takes from Batman: The Animated Series rather than the comics. In the 90s show, Roland Daggett is the owner of a company that produces a new face cream called Renuyu, which gives the user the ability to modify their face. While the cream wouldn’t be allowed to sell in stores due to its addictive qualities, Daggett gives it to an actor named Matt Hagen for use in a series of crimes, eventually leading to Hagen becoming the villain known as Clayface. While this doesn’t happen in the final Batman movie, and the character is renamed “John,” Nolan does have Daggett appear as a corporate rival of Wayne’s who hires Bane to take Gotham’s most famous citizen down a few pegs. Much like in the animated series, Daggett’s plans don’t exactly turn out as well as he planned…

Some are pretty obvious like the Catwoman and Two Face ones but I did not notice the Clayface one, Batman: The Animated Series represent!

Revealing Filming And Scene Details Surface For THOR: THE DARK WORLD

As principal photography nears kickoff for Marvel's anticipated sequel, Thor: The Dark World, the folks over at ComingSoon.Net have received quite a bit interesting information. Highlighting a new filming location, confirming the movie's production title, and revealingly what the scene(s) will consist of:

We are writing to let you know about some filming about to be undertaken in Bourne Wood in the coming months. Please find a brief overview and introduction to this project. "Thursday Mourning" is the working title of a major feature film. It is comic book adaptation set in another "fictional realm".

We will be establishing a fictional village set in another realm, with yurts & village like dressing in the bowl. The sequence involves a battle between two kingdoms, ending in our comic book hero arriving to save the day. The sequence will involve a substantial amount of Stunts & controlled special effects all within the hours 0700 - 1900hrs.

We plan to use most of the areas that are usually occupied by film units for all our support vehicles. The sequence will involve approximately 300 extras who will arrive in the early hours prior to call time to go through costume and makeup.

Exploring Thor's relationship with the Asgardian all-father Odin, as well earthbound companion Jane Foster, “Thor: The Dark World” follows the God of Thunder to The Nine Realms beyond Asgard and earth. And as his evil half-brother, Loki, returns for Asgardian justice, a new threat rises. Also rejoining Thor are his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif, gatekeeper Heimdall and Warriors Three, as they encounter mythical Norse creatures among evildoers.

“Thor: The Dark World” stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Mads Mikkelsen, Jaimie Alexander, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, with Stellan Skarsgard and Ray Stevenson. And Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”) takes over directorial duties from Kenneth Branagh, who helmed the first “Thor” film. With a screenplay by Robert Rodat,“Thor: The Dark World” is set for release on November 8, 2013.

Justin Bieber Told Off for Swearing on First Class Flight

Justin Bieber has been blasted for swearing on a flight.

The 'Boyfriend' hitmaker was reportedly using a number of profanities during a long-haul flight to the US from Australia - where he has been on a promotional tour - when a fellow first class passenger on the 12-hour journey walked over to the singer and told him to stop using inappropriate language.

A source informed TMZ.com that the mother-of-two told Justin: "Stop yelling curse words and using that kind of language on a plane. It's not appropriate."

The 'Never Say Never' hitmaker - who was surrounded by his entourage on the aircraft - was embarrassed by the woman's outburst and quickly apologised to her.

Justin and his crew were said to have been shouting out a number of swear words, including some four-letter profanities, and as their volume started to increase the woman decided to step in.

The incident comes shortly after Justin was slammed by his Los Angeles neighbours, acting couple Kristen Bell and her fiance Dax Shepard, for disrupting their lives with his "music, parties and paparazzi".

Dax said: "The music and the parties and the paparazzi, I mean, it's like living in Lebanon now."

Kristen added: "In his defence, I will say we don't know the exact house the music is coming from. We just know since he moved in, the music has been blaring."

Liz Rosenberg has released the following statement about the controversy that sparkled from Madonna's intimate gig at the Olympia:

"Madonna's Paris club show was planned as her heartfelt thank you to France which she expressed at the start of her show. Despite a grueling concert tour, she desperately wanted to perform for her fans in an intimate setting at the historic Olympia as a means to honor her love for French artists, French cinema and a tribute to France's long history of welcoming and inspiring artists, authors, painters, poets and minorities from other countries over the years.

The show was not billed as her full MDNA concert and tremendous effort was made to keep the ticket prices reasonable ($100 for 2000 floor seats) and keep them strictly for her fans.

The show cost Madonna close to a million dollars to produce. She has done a handful of club dates in the past and they were never more than 45 minutes. And by the way, she put on a fabulous show which was streamed for millions of fans around the world."

NEWSFLASH: Dane Cook is still a douchebag.

0
0

Controversial material can be a stand-up comedy staple, but in this case, comedian Dane Cook might just have taken it too far.

During Cook's performance at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles on Thursday, the 40-year-old funnyman decided to use the shooting at the Aurora, Colo., screening of The Dark Knight Rises as fodder for his routine.

And yes, we just used "theater shooting" and "funnyman" in the same sentence.

"So I heard that the guy came into the theater about 25 minutes into the movie," he said. "And I don't know if you've seen the movie, but the movie is pretty much a piece of s--t. Yeah, spoiler alert."

He continued, "I know that if none of that would have happened, pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of s--t, was probably like, ‘Ugh f------ shoot me.'"

The crowd's response was a mix of jeers, laughter and cheers.

Twelve people were killed and 58 were injured last Friday in the tragic theater massacre, the largest mass shooting in U.S. history.

After a solid social-media backlash (including plenty of outraged tweets) over Cook's comments, the comedian got on Twitter to address the furor:

("I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado & did not mean to make light of what happened," Cook tweeted this afternoon. "I made a bad judgment call with my material last night & regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families & friends of the victims.")

As previously reported, Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated FX series will take place in a 1960s insane asylum on the East Coast. Jessica Lange will play a nun who’s in charge of the facility, and her Season 1 castmates Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe will return to portray completely new characters, as well.

Potente, who will next star in BBC’s America’s first original series Copper, is the latest in a slew of cast additions that includes Chloe Sevigny, Lizzie Brocheré, Joseph Fiennes, James Cromwell, Britne Oldford, Mark Consuelos, Clea Duvall, Jenna Dewan and Chris Zylka.

Britney vs. Mariah: Which loopy pop star will be the best judge of singing talent?

0
0

Mariah Carey just inked a deal reportedly worth $18 million to be a judge on the next season of “American Idol,” while fellow pop star Britney Spears will reportedly be collecting a $15 million paycheck for her judging duties on “The X Factor.”

While these two ladies share scores of multi-platinum hits, legions of adoring fans and world-wide name recognition, they also share a well-documented history of loopy behavior, which should make for some must-see TV this fall.

“Britney’s had such a tumultuous career that looking to see what happens with her and how she handles herself on a live show is going to be hugely interesting,” ‘American Idol’ expert and editor-in-chief of rushfieldbabylon.com, Richard Rushfield, told FOXNews.com. “I’m waiting to see what Britney does.”

'Paula Abdul created the archetype of the sweet but crazy reality show judge' - Ben Mandelker

I think Britney will be given a list of appropriate responses that she can say or not say, and she’ll use them over and over again,” said pop culture expert and editor of bsideblog.com, Ben Mandelker. “She’s like a robot. She’s a national curiosity at this point, but she doesn’t actually say anything bizarre.”

Carey, meanwhile, has the potential to be an insightful judge, if she doesn’t go soft on the contestants.

“She will certainly be able to talk about how to improve a performance, and get into the technical stuff,” said Mandelker. “The question is whether or not she’s just going to be praising every contestant with lavish words about butterflies and rainbows and charm bracelets.”

Carey’s experience hosting bizarre late night shop-a-thons on QVC may actually come in handy for her “Idol” gig.

“Mariah’s had a history of meltdowns and she has a reputation of being a diva, so maybe she will bring a little bit of edge to the panel,” noted M.J. Santilli, self-described “Idol” fan girl and editor of mjsbigblog.com. “Actually, I think that would be good for the show if Mariah is a little nutty. I think people love that. I think people loved Paula Abdul when she was a little off her rocker."

Abdul, who set the standard for bizarre judging practices during her eight seasons on “American Idol” and her brief tenure on "X Factor" may have been the blueprint for reality show producers hiring Spears and Carey.

“Paula Abdul created the archetype of the sweet but crazy reality show judge, and we’ll always love her for that,” noted Mandelker, who also hosts a reality show podcast on iTunes. “I hope that Britney can bring some kooky behavior to ‘X Factor’ and be what Paula Abdul was in her heyday.”
