The father is the only family member who can leave the manicured lawns of their self-inflicted exile, earning their keep by managing a nearby factory, while the only outsider allowed on the premises is his colleague Christina, who is paid to relieve the son of his male urges. Goop thinks you've been yawning wrong this whole time.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So when you're feeling sleepy do you open your mouth and yawn, maybe cover your mouth with your hand if you're in public? PEASANTS! You've probably taken years off your life yawning incorrectly. According to yogi Michael Lear, yawning is important for relaxing jaw and neck muscles after a long day of conversation and eating organic kale. Thankfully Goop's own Gwyneth Paltrow is here to teach us plebians the correct way to yawn.

I won't post the full instructions here, they're long and detailed, but here are a few highlights.

  • Breathe deeply and let air hit the back of your throat.

  • EXTEND into a yawn, work them jaw muscles.

  • Keep yawning until you cry. Yes, you should tear up.

Once you've mastered this yawning technique there's a second technique that involves keeping your mouth closed. This is purely for professionals though, don't try it until you've mastered the original yawn.

Dish Nation obtained exclusive pictures of Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch, both sporting some serious bed head, sharing a brunch date on July 18th in Marina Del Ray where Taylor has a condo.

An eyewitness said: “They were definitely canoodling,” an eyewitness who wishes only to be publicly identified as ‘phongdiddy’ told Dish.

“They were laughing, touching, staring into each other’s eyes as the pics show and smiling…but not holding hands.”

Rachel was asked about her relationship with Taylor earlier this week but failed to confirm or deny their relationship.

“Do you seriously think they don’t know what’s up [when it comes to sex]? They could teach me things! I mean, look at their older sisters [Kourtney, Khloe, and Kim Kardashian]. Are you kidding me? ... I’d be supportive [though] if [making a sex tape is] what they wanted to do. I'd congratulate them — especially if they did what I did and put an entire project together from beginning to end."

According to the source, the "project" he's talking about is his own sex tape but bad news for you ONTD, since I know ya'll thirsty for him, because apparently he was 17 when he made it. Oop.

U.S. Soldier Has a Special Message to Anyone Who Thinks Caitlyn Jenner Is Not A Hero.

Earlier this week, LGBT icon Caitlyn Jenner, of Bruce fame, accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYS and conservatives were not too thrilled about it. Many took to Facebook [cuz they old] to voice their disapproval. Director Lone Survivor, Peter Berg[literally who?!?!], posted this hateful message on his Instagram:

Berg has since deleted the post, but other flop conservatives have joined in on the transphobic hate suggesting that the attention and praise Jenner has received would be better showered on U.S. troops. One soldier in particular posted a responses on his Facebook page and it has gone viral.

The same soldier told a banned source: "Bigotry in any form is unacceptable, and I guess I was just fed up with seeing people’s offensive remarks about a person they know nothing about. I posted what I posted because it’s what I feel. I joined the service and picked my job because I love helping people. I love positivity and I love my country."

Paraphrased from @GailyGrind and their site.

Questions With Famed Author Of PostSecret Books & Will Wheaton Speaks About His Depression

$

Question: What was your initial motivation to do PostSecret?

Answer: When I started PostSecret my motive was to create a “place” where people could feel free to share their private hopes, desires and fears. A place where the secrets they could not tell their friends and family would be treated with dignity in a non-judgmental way.

But looking back almost three years later, I know that there was another drive at work at the time that I was unaware of. After I started the project I received a secret from a man describing a humiliating childhood experience that he had never shared with anyone. The courage he showed in mailing that postcard to me inspired me to recognize a similar secret I had been carrying alone for more than thirty years. It was an experience that I had never thought of as a secret, but I had never told anyone about it.

So I told my secret to my wife and daughter, faced it on a postcard, and—in my case—mailed it to myself. It brought me a sense of healing and ownership of that buried episode in my own life. And now in hindsight, I think the reason I began PostSecret was because at a level below my own awareness, I was struggling to reconcile with a childhood secret. And like others I have heard from, I was able to find greater self-understanding and self-acceptance through a the stranger’s secret.

YouTube Deletes Fifth Harmony Video Due to "Inappropriate" Content

$

Camila Cabello and her backup singers finally reached a Vevo milestone with their fifth single, "Worth It" achieving 100 million views with the help of obsessive fans hitting refresh 35 times a day. However, instead of celebrating the success of what will probably be their only hit, the girl group has been targeted by YouTube, who removed the video from their website, stating that the video was “a violation of (its) policy on repetitive, misleading or inappropriate metadata.”

The band's management label tweeted that they didn't know what had happened and were working on getting the video restored, but as of midnight EST, the video is still missing. Rumor has it that the video was deleted due to at least two of the members being underage when the sexually suggestive video was filmed.

Harmonizers were, predictably, outraged, taking to social media to voice their complaints, trending the hashtag, #WeWantWorthItBackOnYoutube and even trying to drag legal adult Nicki Minaj and British rivals Little Mix into it:

Even Vevo put in their two cents to try and get hits for their website

In addition, Fifth Harmony had to cancel a concert in Cincinnati this weekend, claiming scheduling conflicts, although a map of available seats shows that the venue had failed to even sell out the front section of the pavilion.

The band also released a Spanish version of "Worth It" which is still currently up on Youtube but only has around 400,000 views, still gives Lauren no solos despite her being fluent in Spanish and makes Camila sound even worse than normal. You can listen to it here if you want.

ONTD Original: 7 Australian movies that are worth watching

$
0
0
Due to the enormous popularity of the ONTD Original: 7 movies from Europe that are worth watching I bring the Australian edition of films that I think you should watch because I like them.

ONE: Picnic At Hanging Rock

Year: 1975
IMDB Rating: 7.6
Anyone you know: Peter Weir (Director), a hella young Jackie Weaver (Animal Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook), also hella young John Jarret (Wolf Creek)
What it's about: You've probably heard of this movie. It's usually the one to pop up on lists of top ten Australian movies and remains a triumph of Australian film making with a haunting soundtrack and stunning cinematography. The basic premise is this, on St Valentine's Day 1900 the students of an all girls school travel to hanging rock. Four of the girls decide to go for a walk around the rock and only one returns to the group, screaming and incoherent, unable to articulate what happened to the other three girls (and their governess that no one gives a shit about).
Why I think you should watch it: Hanging Rock is my favourite place in the world so far and I've spent most of my life in it's general vicinity. It's a great Australian past time to troll people that the events of the movie (based on the book by Joan Lindsay) is based on truth. While both the movie and book are entirely fictional, if you ever visit the rock, there's a feeling of possibility that it might just happen.

TWO: Suburban Mayhem

Year: 2006
IMDB Rating: 5.6
Anyone you know: Mia Wasikowska (Alice In Wonderland, The Only Lovers Left Alive) Anthony Hayes (Animal Kingdom, Rabbit Proof Fence)
What it's about: This a beautifully trashy movie that examines the life of a bogan queen Katrina who is a force to be reckoned with. She enlists a variety of white dick with her magic pussy to do her sneaky deeds as her dad finally wakes up to her slovenly ways. She wants money to get her brother out of jail and she'll do anything to get it. It's got everything you want in a bogan movie, trashy clothing, cars that make loud revving noises and Jim Beam.
Why I think you should watch it: If you've got delusions about what Australia is really like (pristine white sand beaches with a bevy of Jai Courtney's and Chris Hemsworth's) watching Suburban Mayhem will shattered them. And so it should.

THREE: The Dish

Year: 2000
IMDB Rating: 7.3
Anyone you know: Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, The Tudors) Roy Billing (Aquamarine) Bernard Curry (Once Upon A Time, Faking It, Pretty Little Liars... I didn't even know he broke into the American market)
What it's about: Turn's out, back in 1969, the Parkes satellite dish was the biggest in the southern hemisphere and was used to broadcast the moon landing. Naturally it applies itself greatly to the Australian rhetoric of celebrating the underdog because the Parkes observatory was located in the middle of a sheep paddock. The movie is a slightly fictionalised version of true events.
Why I think you should watch it: The Dish is a perfect example of Australian comedy done right. It's movie about an event that everyone on this earth knows but told in that typical australian way. It has everything. From calling idiots 'galahs' to playing cricket on what I assume was a very expensive piece of equipment.

FOUR: Crackerjack

Year: 2002
IMDB Rating: 6.9
Anyone you know: Bill Hunter (Strictly Ballroom, Muriel's Wedding, the voice of the dentist in Finding Nemo) Judith Lucy (Comedian) Mick Malloy (Comedian) Samuel Johnson (The Secret Life of Us, shares voice over duties with Marta Dussledorp for every ad on australian tv)
What it's about: So Jack Simpson is sloth like person who has a membership (or three) to the Cityside Lawn Bowls club to access their car park and rent out his spaces to his workmates. Unfortunately the Cityside Lawn Bowls club is under a bit of financial stress so Club President Len decides all members must now attend to play bowls. Jack turns out to be a bit of alright at bowling and after losing both his job and his girlfriend he's slightly more motivated to help out the only thing he has left in his life, the Bowling Club, from becoming a soulless pokies venue.
Why I think you should watch it: Can you think of a good reason not to? The whole film is on youtube

FIVE: THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER

Year: 1982
IMDB Rating: 7.2
Anyone you know: Kirk Douglas (for being Michael Douglas's father) Jack Thompson (for being in every half way decent Australian movie ever and the terrible Star Wars prequels)
What it's about: So the guy who wrote unofficial national anthem Waltzing Matilda also wrote quite a bit of poetry and his most famous is of the same name so it was really only a matter of time before someone tried to adapt the story of the colt by Old Regret for a movie. Jim Craig has been living in the mountains his whole life but when his dad dies the ~mountain men~ come along being general dicks and tell him he has to earn his life in the mountains. So he goes down to the valley for work and ends up working for a man called Harrison who has a very lovely head strong daughter and a very expensive horse that ends up escaping.
Why I think you should watch it: Ignore the WORST TRAILER I HAVE EVER SEEN above and take this factoid. The lead actor, Tom Burlinson, didn't have much riding experience before filming this movie. The shot in which he rides down a cliff face is actually him and it was done all in one take.

SIX: The Castle

Year: 1997
IMDB Rating: 7.8
Anyone you know: Eric Bana (he sort of had a Hollywood career once) Bud Tingwell (Trust me. You've seen him in something) Sophie Lee (Muriel's Wedding)
What it's about: They say a man's home is his castle and that's certainly the case for the Kerrigan family but it turns out that the government want to acquire their home and family patriarch Daryl isn't so down with that idea.
Why I think you should watch it: The Castle is an Australian classic. If you've ever heard any of the expressions "Tell him he's dreaming", "straight to the pool room" or "how's the serenity" you need to see the source material. The film is also Eric Bana's debut.

SEVEN: Dot and the Kangaroo

Year: 1977
IMDB Rating: 7.2
Anyone you know: Not a soul
What it's about: Based on a book of the same name, a young girl gets lost in the bush and befriends a kangaroo who, with a collection of other animals, helps her find her way home.
Why I think you should watch it: If you want a movie to fuck you up. This is the one you want to watch. You have no excuse, I've posted the whole movie in the post for you.

ONTD Original: 7 French Canadian Films that are Worth Watching

$

0
Following other ONTD Original posts highlighting some of the best films from around the globe, here are 7 of my favourite French Canadian films.

1. Monseiur Lazhar

Following the suicide of one of the teachers at an elementary school in Montreal, Bashir Lazhar, Algerian immigrant and refugee, is named her replacement. He must deal with his own struggles and grief while simultaneously helping the children work through their own, a task that is made more complicated by the fact that two of children discovered their teacher's body.

Completely heartbreaking. The story at the end always makes me cry. Received a nomination for Best Foreign Language film at the Oscars.

2. Incendies

Following their mother's sudden death, Jeanne and Simon Marwon are left to unwravel the final requests left in their mother's will. They travel overseas to the Middle East to uncover the truth of their mother's life, and to find out whether or not one plus one can truly equal one.

Completely heartbreaking [2]. I don't really have words for this one. Received a nomination for Best Foreign Language film at the Oscars.

3. J'ai tué ma mère

Xavier Dolan's debut. J'ai tué ma mère looks at the relationship between a mother and son. Hubert struggles greatly with the knowledge that while he loves his mother deeply, he detests being her son, and the two struggle to navigate a relationship that has gotten progressively worse over the years.

Not his finest, but definitely an excellent introduction to Dolan's films. Tbh all his films are worth checking out.

4. Polytechnique

Polytechnique documents the École Polytechnique massacre, when a male shooter murdered 14 women and injured 10 women and 4 men on 6 December 1989. The shooter blamed women, especially feminists, for ruining his life.

Polytechnique was filmed both in English and in French if subtitles aren't your thing.

5. C.R.A.Z.Y.

Zac's father Gervais loved two things more than anything--his five sons and Patsy Cline; the latter's song Crazy providing the basis for the names of Gervais' five sons (Christian, Raymond, Antoine, Zachary, and Yvan). Set in Quebec in the 1960s and 70s, Zac struggles to deal with his homophobic father and come to terms with his identity.

Montreal in the 60s/70s! Lots of Bowie.

6. De père en flic

Think buddy cop film, but French Canadian. A feuding father-son police team are forced to work on their relationship while on an undercover assignment.

Highest grossing French language film in Canadian history!

7. Bon cop, bad cop

Idk how to do a serious summary for this one. Basically, a guy dies smack on the border between Ontario (English) and Quebec (French). This means the police from both sides have to work together to solve the mystery. Lots of Canadian references, humour, injokes, hockey, etc.

Bonus: there's also a great lesson on how to swear in Quebec French if you're at all interested.

SOURCES: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

This isn't a list of the ~best French Canadian films ever, but instead a selection of somewhat recent French Canadian films that hopefully contains something everyone will enjoy! Feel free to recommend Canadian films (any language)!
