Meryl Streep is funding a screenwriting lab for female screenwriters over the age of 40. This lab will be run by New York Women in Film and Television.

The program aims to increase opportunities for older female screenwriters. This year they will accept submissions May 1 - June 1. And eight winners will be announced on August 1. These winners will gather for an intensive workshop in upstate New York from September 18-20, 2015.

Some of the mentors involved in this program are writer-director Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond the Lights), producer Caroline Kaplan (Boyhood), and writer Kirsten Smith (Legally Blonde) and Jessica Bendinger (Bring It On).

Summary:

- GRRM posted a blog post and it has to deal with the mess involving the Hugo Awards, the most prestigious awards in science fiction. Basically, author Larry Correia wrote some blog posts about how early experiences with online haters turned him from pain to rage and it involves the Hugo Awards, I guess?

- GRRM on internet haters: "More and more, I grow convinced that the internet is toxic. Every controversy brings out the trolls and toads, of every political, religious, and literary persuasion, most of them anonymous, all of them venomous. You can't control the assholes on your side and I can't control the assholes on my side. I fear we will both just have to live with that."

• The film is being produced by Ridley Scott (🙊), starring the people above. Also, Vincent Cassel is bringing back his infamous Russian accent from A History of Violence. The story is inspired by a series of murders in the 1970s and 1980s in Russia, but the film is set during the years of Stalin's regime years earlier(because why not)


• It's due to come out soon, but has been banned in Russia and at least 5 former Soviet countries for its "Soviet propaganda" and being seen as in "bad taste" because of the upcoming 70th anniversary of Victory Day aka end of WWII


• The other reason Russian government is giving for the ban is making Stalin's Russia look like "Mordor"


• On top of that, it's currently at 25% on RT, and everyone pretty much agrees it's shite.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, 'The Force Awakens' trailer gave a financial boom to Disney's stock adding $2.5 billion after its debut at Star Wars Celebration: Anaheim. U.S. box office analysists are already predicting a $225 million haul for opening weekend. In addition, they are also predicting the film will be the third highest grossing of all time with $1.8 billion total.

The official Star Wars twitter also announced the trailer broke the record for most views of a trailer in a single day. This record was previously held by the first 'Force Awakens' teaser.
