Better Late Than Never: Musketeers Series Finale Roundup

Hopefully all 10 of us on ONTD who watch the show are still around. Because of the stupid delays between the US and the UK over the last few weeks, it seemed fitting to wait until everyone had had time to watch this before posting. Hopefully the BBC have gotten the message that putting a drama series on Friday nights is a terrible idea, and that in general by 2016 we should be able to just air shows on the same day around the world, rather than staggering them and losing viewers to illegal downloads.

Anyway, with that rant over, Den of Geek share their thoughts on the finale and you can read them with my interjections below.
DoG call the finale a success for the most part, most notably in the way that it avoided certain plotting cliches (like leaving Constance's fate until the final moments of the episode), and that the lovely Marc Warren really wound up topping Capaldi's Richlieu by the end of this series. I would also like to remind viewers that Marc Warren is the lead from the worst episode of Doctor Who ever made, Love and Monsters. Look how far he's come.

Series 2 of The Musketeers was a bit odd, in the sense that at the start everyone was worried that the show had shed its silly likeability in favor of a more serious tone that didn't suit it. By the end, it seems to be getting nothing but praise for that seriousness. Instead, I would just argue that the plots got better as the episodes went on, because you can't deny those first three episodes were rough. All the same, the show does need a bit more of its goofiness back, and as much as I love the romance side of things (or, really, just Milady/Athos), the back half of this year was almost over-saturated with it.

On Milady, DoG and I are both upset that she didn't have much to do after saving Aramis. But I'll go a step further and say that having her lay all of her cards on the table and beg Athos to run away with her was a little too OOC. I know they've spent their time tearing down her walls, but I don't see how one Nancy Drew secret bookshelf kiss means that she's "cured." Also, boo at the continued lack of sex. In fact, the way that they capped off this series in general felt rushed -- with Aramis walking off into the sunset (how close is that Monestary, given that the three guys are gallopping after him at the end?) before D'Artagnan's wedding (rude), Milady taking off the next day after everything goes down (a bit weird), and then Athos trying to ditch the wedding mid-ceremony after giving away the bride (rude, and also... are they ever going to explain how he and Constance know each other?). I feel like this episode could've comfortably added an extra hour to wrap these things up properly, instead of making all of these characters seem like strangely inconsiderate dicks. But maybe they're just  bored by Constagnan, too.

Finally, poor old Porthos. In the grand tradition of this show, his plan made no sense, and they never explain how Treville & the Gang know exactly where to find him when he lures Vargas to the right place. But whatever, it was a fun scene and Constance was awesome, etc. I do hope that they give Howard Charles some better stuff next year, though. The teasing out of his Dad plot got painful at times, and I'm not sure the payoff was worth it. Also he needs a woman.

  • In January 2014, a friend of my friend discovered his lecturer was working as a fashion model.

  • Said model/lecturer is Pietro Boselli, 26 and is from Italy. He was discovered by Giorgio Armani at the age of six.

  • He has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and was teaching a mechanical engineering class at University College London. According to his Instagram, he is addicted to training.

  • It's a year late and now other gossip blogs are reporting this for idk whatever reason. Pietro is trending on Twitter and as expected, thirst is exposed. Better late than never i guess idk i'll just let the pics do the talking.

Jamie Dornan will be on Emmy Edition of 'Variety Studio: Actors on Actors'

Variety and PBS SoCaL will air the eighth installment of “Variety Studio: Actors on Actors,” the publication’s awards-season video series. The latest in the series will feature conversations between television actors who are contending for Emmy Awards.

The Emmys edition will feature actors Kerry Washington, Jimmy Kimmel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jeffrey Tambor, Taraji P. Henson, Mindy Kaling, Conan O’Brien, Jessica Lange, Uzo Aduba, Gina Rodriguez, Michael Sheen, Jamie Dornan, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein and many more.

Filming will take place on March 28 and 29 in Hollywood.

The Emmy edition of “Variety Studio: Actors on Actors” will premiere at 7 p.m. June 14 on PBS SoCal, and will then be distributed to PBS stations across the country in July. A second episode airs at 7 p.m. on June 21. The interviews will also air on WNET/WLIW in New York and will stream on Variety.com beginning in June.

Moreover, Jamie will take part to a live chat on Youtube organized by LA Times. The live will air on Monday. Jamie will answer fans questions asked by journalist Yvonne Villarreal.

Warner Bros is already building the set for "Fantastic Beasts"

Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire -- otherwise known as the place where all HP movies were filmed -- is creating what looks to be another castle.

Construction is still three months from completion. Filming is due to begin in the summer on the first of three movies in a new Fantastic Beasts series. The spin-off films will be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020.

The new film follows the adventures of the fictional author Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards 70 years before Harry Potter reads his book in school. The book claims Scamander had been travelling the world researching magical creatures since 1918, culminating with the publication of his masterpiece in 1927.

No confirmed cast yet.

There are no deals in place for anybody yet but they're all being eyed to return. Because of Scorpion, Robert Patrick would only be able to appear in a limited capacity. William B. Davis said that he was approached recently and David revealed in a separate interview they're filming in Vancouver. Glen Morgan is reportedly set to serve as an executive producer with Chris Carter. The episodes will be a mixture of MoTW and standalone plotlines.

Asperger syndrome is no longer in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders — the DSM kids are calling it an autism spectrum disorder these days — but it’s still all over our television screens. It seems like no TV show is complete anymore without a charming and/or abrasive weirdo who has issues with social cues, eye contact, and the occasional hallucination involving deer antlers. (Although maybe that last one is Hannibal-specific.)

Abed is the antithesis to some very tired and pervasive Asperger’s cliches. He’s obsessed with pop culture instead of math and science. He clearly has empathy and he’s capable of forming meaningful relationships. So it’s no surprise that he’s been embraced by the Aspie community despite the lack of official diagnosis. Creator and once and future showrunner Dan Harmon might have been surprised when he recently discovered that he himself was on the autism spectrum, but Aspie fans of the show had him pegged as one of us from the very first episodes.

Although the titular Bones will never be diagnosed with Asperger’s, both actress Emily Deschanel and creator Hart Hanson are happy to say that she almost has it in interviews. “Almost Asperger’s” sounds like a bit of a cop out, but Bones’ more subtle symptoms are actually quite realistic given that women with Asperger’s are much harder to detect and diagnose than their male counterparts. Brennan’s lack of interest in social conventions, rudimentary understanding of sarcasm, and awkward but undeniable affection for her friends are all in keeping with the way an actual Aspergian woman of her intellect would appear.

Despite her parents’ insistence that she’s not autistic — and despite her inability to count toothpicks on the floor with Rain Man-style accuracy — 14-year-old Tina probably falls somewhere on the spectrum. She isn’t good with customers, and has both a terrible sense of what’s considered appropriate in polite conversation and a horse fixation. The sexually charged young lady also obsessively writes erotic fan-fiction (and friend-fiction), which makes her a refreshing change from all the asexual autistic characters on TV.

Much like autism itself, autistic opinion on Big Bang Theory’s favorite theoretical physicist exists on a spectrum. On one end, you have people who wear their “Bazinga” shirts with pride and claim Sheldon as one of their own even though he has never been identified as such (and the creators have no interest in giving him an official diagnosis). On the other, you have people who think that his over-the-top lack of social skills, problems with sarcasm, vanity, and rigidity are a cruel and reductive parody of people with Asperger’s. Personally, I’m more offended by the show’s weak attempts to represent anything resembling humor.

Naya Rivera and her husband Ryan Dorsey were seen in Glendale yesterday afternoon, Sunday March 29. She was wearing a Rolling Stones shirt that hid her growing belly a bit, and another pair of sneakers that I want to steal from her closet. Ryan's arms looked lovely.

In other useful and important news, Naya took out her extensions on Friday March 27, which means her hair is probably shorter and has less volume right now. Baby Dorsey is expected to be born, according to me, at the end of August or beginning of September.
